HP Smart Web Printing 4.6 Error Message

I am running Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit, and IE9.  I have downloaded and installed HP Smart Web Printing, Version 4.6, but it will not work.  The popup error message I get reads: "HP Smart Web Printing must be updated to run on this browser.  Would you like to check http://www.hp.com/go/swp/4_6_0_0/IE9/eng for a newer version?  When I click on Yes, the webpage displays a message that the webpage cannot be found: "Sorry, we can't find that page."
Anybody know how to fix whatever is causing V4.6 not to run?

HP Smart Web Printing has been replaced with HP Smart Printing.  See the page here.

  • Smart Web printing network resource error message

I have a Photosmart C4580 with an OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
The problem is NOT the printer but each time I boot up I get a pop up message box saying:
"SmartWeb installation package cannot be found"
    Followed by:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable".
This has happened since I tried (successfully) to solve a Solution Centre problem from an HP download
My browser is Google Chrome and I haven't used IE for a few years (IE9 is installed) I've never used Smart Web and have no need for it so I've tried to uninstall it to no avail.
Searching through the forums an expert suggested Revo uninstall.  My question is how do I get rid of these annoying pop ups and if I use Revo to uninstall Smart Web will my other printer software be affected? Eg Solution Center and photo creations etc

Do you still need assistance? I read your post to DavidPK and using Revo uninstall on another board. It looks like he got your problem taken care of. Is that the case? I just wanted to touch base with you and check.

  • I'm running Firefox 3.6.23. I get the message that HP Smart Web Printing is not compatible.

I'm running Firefox 3.6.23 under Windows 7 64 bit. I want to use the HP Smart Web Printing program but under the add-ons I get the message that it is not compatible with this version. What ver. should I be running for compatibility? I saw at one time the icon on the toolbar but it went away after the next reboot. Help.

  • Upgrade to Smart Web Printing 4.6 crashed IE8 x86

Win 7 Home Premium x64 computer paired with an HP Officejet Pro 8000. Initial install of printer required I uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 4 and reinstall after the printer was installed to resolve Windows error messages. Win 7 is a clean install from Win Vista.
Smart Web Printing 4.5.1 (from the HP CD) works well, albeit a bit slow.  The upgrade to 4.6 was unsucessful and crashed the IE8 x86 window.  I uninstalled it and retured to version 4.5.1 and it again works well.  Smart Web Printing apparently is not intended for use with the IE8 x64bit version and I have never seen it in the toolbar as an option.

I guess I posted too soon. I went to go to the control panel and a window popped up that needed attention. I guess the install of SWP was not finished and after clicking to continue and rebooting (again) SWP looks like it is working again.

When I try to run HP Smart Web Printing feature I can go out a get segments to print with no problem.  But, when I go to print or edit it, this Runtime Error message appears in a dialog box that is titled Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.  Has anyone experienced this and if so has anyone got the solution to get around it?

click on the cross to the top righthand corner, it is the window for the smart web printer. or failing that go to add remove programs and remove HP smart web printing.

    Hi,
Finally I've figured out a way to solve this. I typed msconfig in "run", and unchecked all the HP, Smartweb printing and windows installer items in the services and startup tabs. I don't have the problem anymore.
But thank you very much for your help!

  • When will smart web printing be compatible with IE9?

After I updated IE to version 9, I lost smart web printing.  When will it be compatible with IE9?

  • HP Smart Web Printing Software

Is there a version of HP Smart Web Printing Software that will work with Internet Explorer 8.0? I upgraded from Internet Explorer 7.0 to 8.0 (using XP SP2), and my previous HP Web Site Add-On Version 2.15.7.0 was incompatible with IE 8.0, so I tried upgrading to HP Smart Web Printing Version 4.05. First I selected "Install Now" from the HP web site & thought the load was successful, but then I couldn't find it among installed programs on my PC. Then I selected "Download Only" from the web site, and ran the executable from my desktop, but it went into an uninstall mode and froze. I exited the program and selected the executable a 2nd time. It started to load but stopped, saying another install program was still in progress. I exited the program & rebooted the PC. I selected the executable for the 3rd time and the installation appeared to complete successfully. At least the application was listed among installed programs, but it does not appear anywhere on the IE toolbar, and I have not found any way to run the application. Is it even compatible with IE 8.0?

I am having the same problem! I'm NOT glad to see that someone else is having trouble too! I had IE 6 & downloaded a free offer of Smartwebprinting. I loved it! Then I got a message that said I should upgrade to IE 8 so, of course, I did! Then I was told that smart web printing is NOT compatible with IE 8! AFTER I downloaded it not before! I was very angry! Then today I find an upgrade for smart web printing so it would be compatible with IE 8. I was happy again! But, alas, it will not work! It asked if I wanted to replace the program I already had. I said 'yes'. Then when it tried to install....it UN-installed! I have written to HP twice with NO response! so I did uninstall the program, then downloaded the supposedly 'upgraded' version of smart web printing again. I am unable to find the program anywhere, I only have the 'exe' program. I don't know what to do from here?? I'm ready to go back to IE 6!
I've attached a screenshot of the SWP icon, so please check if you can see it. You may have to click on the '>>' button to see more buttons, and reveal the SWP button.
@Ronalds: It's not compatible with Vista 64-bit according to the specs, but try to install it anyways and see if it works.

  • " HP Smart Web Printing" not working

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit , IE8, Photosmart C4500 all in one driver software 12.0, Solution Center 13.0, and Smart Web Printing 4.60. I was able to bring up the HPSWP window, but couldn't select the " Select". I finally found this to work.
    Open" IE"
    Click on "Tools"
    Click on" Manage Add-ons"
Make sure "Show or hide HPSWP" is enabled &" HPSWP" is enabled
    Close "Manage Add-ons"
    If HPSWP icon doesn't show
    Click on "Tools"
    Click on "Explorer Bars"
    Click on HPSWP
    Your now in business

hpswp is enabled in addons, everything is right, i click on tools and I can click show or hide hpswp, immediately  IE 8 gives a message that " a problem caused the program to stop working correctly".
When is was using hpswp with vista I had similiar problems also. I am now using Windows 7 with IE8.
Would anyone have been expericing the same problem?? Has anyone got a solution???
    Thanks

  • HP Smart Web Printing will not print text

Using IE 8, Attempting to print out sections of a post on a message board.  I can use the select tool to select text areas, but it does not go on to the next step.  It sits there with the text highlighted but does not give me any side menu to go on to either edit or print the area selected.  I have the latest version of the software, also.
    Thank you

HP Smart Web Printing should work with vista and IE 6, 7, or 8.
To uninstall a program go to the control panel and look for a program maintenence option. Select it and a list of installed programs will appear. Select the one you want to uninstall and go for it. Before trying to install SWP again, check to make sure you have the latest version.

I tried several times and each time I had to end the task in Task Manager. I want to uninstalling then reinstall it, but I do not know where to find that option so I can do it. Am I running the wrong version for my OS?  Vista Basic Home Premium is my OS and I am trying to run version 4.60 Smart Web Printing. • Hp smart web printing does not work on firefox. HP says this is not their problem and to contact Mozilla. Is there a plug in available?

I just bought a new hp printer. the software has a feature called HP web smart printing. The feature works on explorer but not on Firefox. HP says this is not their problem and suggested I contact Mozilla. Is an add on available and if not will one be made available.
I am using v. 3.6.13. and the printer is HP Officejet 4500.

HP smart web printing is an application that only works with IE. In spite of what HP have told you, if they want their application to work with Firefox they will need to make a version for Firefox. It is not down to Mozilla to make a version of the HP software for Firefox.
