HP Smart Web Printing feature, problem with IE7 and FireFox3

"HP Smart Web Printing" problem with Internet Explorer 7 and FireFox 3I have a laptop that came with: Windows Vista Home Premium, Internet Explorer 7, FireFox 1.9. Everything worked fine.
Recently I bought a "HP Photosmart C4580 All-in-One" printer that came with a free software "HP Smart Web Printing".
Smart Web Printing worked fine with FireFox 1.9 browser. I liked it very much, because with it, I could print only the portions from the web page that I want, thus saving on inks. It really does more than that.
With IE 7, Smart Web Printing was a disaster. IE 7 stopped working. Every time I closed a web browser window, IE7 would stop working and start all over again. It happened all the time.
On suggestion from Microsoft Windows help desk I "Reset IE Setting". This solved the IE 7 problem , but it also removed the Smart Web Printing feature.
Next, one day I downloaded latest version of FireFox browser "FireFox 3". Once again I lost the Smart Web Printing Feature, because it was not compatible with FireFox 3.
Now here I am with no "Smart Web Printing" feature at all.
Any suggestion how can I get "Smart Web Printing" feature back. I love the feature
Thanks

March 27th 2009 I've just downloaded HP Smart Web Print onto an HP a6500f desktop system running Vista-64.  I first installed it as a limited user and I get no icon in the IE7 taskbar.  I examined the manage add-ons dialog and it was installed but the toolbar configuration has no control icon for SWP icon.
Then I logged off and logged on as a privileged user and downloaded again and tried to install.  This 2nd installation actually REMOVED my first installation.
So I then downloaded for a third time and installed and it finished installing but there was no SWP icon in the tool bar.  I examined the Manage Add-Ons dialog and saw one in there on the left side.  I transfered the inactive icon to the active side of the dialog and then I immediately had TWO SWP icons in the task bar. (*mumble grumble*).  So I removed one and all is OK now as long as I use the IE7 as a privileged user.
If I go back to being a limited user (not an unreasonable thing to do is it?) I don't have an SWP icon.  Trying to install SWP application again only cause it to want to remove the existing installation.
I'm not very impressed with this behavior.
Is there anything that can be done to get SWP to work for limited users?

having recently upgraded to Mozilla's Firefox 4.0 it has disabled the 4.6 HP smart web printing saying it is incompatible with Firefox 4.0?  Is there any way around this inconvenience of not having the ability to use this terrific HP pdct as do not have ability to print from a website using their print feature nor simply selecting print on the Firefox browser?

  • When will smart web printing be compatible with IE9?

After I updated IE to version 9, I lost smart web printing.  When will it be compatible with IE9?

I have updated HP Smart Print to version 2.5.0.238 dated 11/20/2013 and the IE11 error message persists.

  • I deleted the HP Smart Web Printing (but kept the link) and now I don't know how to get it back.

I had 23 Microsoft updates and 12 did not update. I am 73 and not very computer literate. I finally (accidentally) discovered that, at least part of the problem, was that I must have installed Explorer 9. It told me to update to a new driver/software. I was trying to do it step-by-step and that's when I deleted the Smart Web Printing. On the second step of trying to fix it, it would not update because it says it doesn't support 64 bit (which I have). It only supposed 32 bit. HELP. I can't figure out how to get my smart web printing back. Also, I don't know how to get my system back to a lower Explorer since I apparently have 9.

    Hello BarbG,
HP no longer offers the Smart Web Print software available for download since the change to Smart Print. Rather than trying to get around this maybe we can look at at least resolving the issues you are having.
For one the Smart Print software can be found here
HP Smart Web Printing Software Replaced by HP Smart Print
Available on the link are step by step instructions on installation and setup of Smart Print, including videos on how to use Smart Print so you can become accustomed to using it.
Now before we get into that what you will want to do is verify that you are truely running IE9 64 bit versus the 32 bit. HP Smart Print only supports 32 bit so we want to make sure we are using that.
To check the version of IE you are running follow these steps.
    1. Launch Internet Explorer
    2. Click on Help
    3. Select About Internet Explorer
    4. If the version of Internet Explorer has 64 bit next to it then you are running the 64 bit version. If it doesn't say then you are running the 32 bit version and are good!
If you are running the 64 bit version we next need to see if you already have the 32 bit version on your computer.
    1.Click on Start
    2. Select All programs
    3. Look for Internet Explorer (64-bit)
Just below that entry should be another entry called "Internet Explorer" This version of Internet Explorer should be the 32 bit version and you can verify this by repeating the before mentioned steps.
Once you verify that you are running the 32 bit version of IE then you can proceed with installing the Smart Print software.
Also note a few other additional places to check and run IE 32 bit are below:
Go to start->all program->accessories, IE 32 bit version should be located here
You can also find the IE 32 bit version in this path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe."

  • Problems with IE7 and FF

    Hello,
I'm facing a problem in my site. I have a table located
inside another table. My inner table contains text.
I'm using a css file to define the inner table properties. I
used 'position: absolute' to define the inner-table text top
position but got some problems with it in IE7 and firefox.
Once deleting the absolute position I'm not able to get my
text be align to the top on the cell, it keeps being painted in the
    center of the cell.
How do I solve this issue?

Vertically align the outer table cell which contains your

I have Interactive form ui-element in WebDynpro for java (ver. 7 SP 10) application. It works fine with IE6, but in IE7 (or IE8) it doesn't show that ui-element at all. We have tried to change IE7 security & advanced settings, but we have not made any progress. We have also tried to install/uninstall different Adobe reader versions etc.

  • HP Smart Web Printing is NOT WORKING....UGH!

When I click the select button nothing happens. Everything freezes. IE stops responding, I can't close, open, right click, left click.....nothing. I tried several times and each time I had to end the task in Task Manager. I want to uninstalling then reinstall it, but I do not know where to find that option so I can do it. Am I running the wrong version for my OS?  Vista Basic Home Premium is my OS and I am trying to run version 4.60 Smart Web Printing. Can someone please help me too?
    Thank you,

HP Smart Web Printing should work with vista and IE 6, 7, or 8.
To uninstall a program go to the control panel and look for a program maintenence option. Select it and a list of installed programs will appear. Select the one you want to uninstall and go for it. Before trying to install SWP again, check to make sure you have the latest version.

  • HP Smart Web Printing will not print text

Using IE 8, Attempting to print out sections of a post on a message board.  I can use the select tool to select text areas, but it does not go on to the next step.  It sits there with the text highlighted but does not give me any side menu to go on to either edit or print the area selected.  I have the latest version of the software, also.

  • Smart web printing add-on and new versions of Firefox

Having a problem with HP smart web printing add-on with recent versions of Firefox (3.6.12 today)?
This is the way to go around it.
Locate the "C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\smart web printing " folder. In it there should be a mozilla add-on folder. Click on it. Open the "install.rdf"  file with notepad. Change the content of the  <em:maxVersion> tag to 3.6.* (or later version). for example you will have <em:maxVersion>3.6.*.*</em:maxVersion>. Save "install.rdf".
Then select all the files, folders in the mozilla addon folder (chrome, components, default, plugins,  xre, chrome.manifest, and install.rdf) and zip them. Any name will do (my_hpwebprinting, for example). Once zipped, change its extension (zip) into xpi.
Then just slide this file (my_hpwebprinting.xpi) on the firefox icon. Wait until a firefox page opens and drop the xpi file on it.
You will then be able to use hp smart web printing with FF after restarting it.

  • HP Smart Web Printing and IE8

Hi, I am trying to help some friends who have recently bought a new HP desktop and HP printer.
We have set up both and can print from programs installed, thats no problem. When we try to print a page from IE8 nothing at all happens. We have the HP Smart Web Printing software installed, but there is no icon on the tool bar, and it does not seem to be off the side of the screen. We have tried downloading and installing the Smart Web printing software again, but still it fails to work.
We have been on the internet looking for solutions including making sure that the box it ticked in IE8 which allows 3rd part add ons. And also looked in add on manager, but the Smart web add on does not appear on the list. In fact there are no add ons appearing?
I would be very grateful for any assistance.
    Cheers

In IE8 on the lowest toolbar, to the right hand side is a "tools" pull down. Click on it, then select "Explorer Bars", you should see one called "HP Smart Web Printing". If you do and it does not have a check by it, simply click on that option. An SWP toolbar should appear. If you do not have thswp line I would suspect an installation problem.
