HP Spectre 13-1310dx Win 8.1 USB Recovery issue

Hello!
I have been trying to recover my HP Spectre 13-1310dx ultrabook from its original USB Recovery Media 749738-003 (Win 8.1). However each time I am having a error massage which says
"Detect some error during PININST_BBV"
"Check C:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log"
or "check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log"
Anybody knows any solution for this issue?
Thanks

Hi @Servetb
Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a great  place to find answers and tips!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp that when you tried to do the recovery from  a USB key you received the  error  "Detect some error during PININST_BBV"
"Check C:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log"
or "check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log"
First I would test for any hardware failures just to rule out that possibiltiy'

This step resolved this issue for someone else perhaps it will work for you also.
When you boot up your computer hit F10 that will take you to the BIOS manager. then hit F9 to set BIOS to factory default save and exit then do recovery.

You could also try changing the date in the bios to BIOS to  1/01/2012.
If the issue should still remain please contact HP support for assistance. It is possible the the recovery media has a problem.
Good Luck!

I contacted Lenovo who sent me out a set of 4 Recovery disks. These disks fixed the problem but it meant wiping out the hard drive and reinstalling very thing from scratch. A new recovery partition is created and the discs reinstalled Win 8 which had to be updated. Then Win 8.1 could be installed. Everything is now working as it should.

  • USB Recovery Disc Failed

My USB recovery media is apparently not working.  I have tried to get it to boot from the USB but it will not work.  My original hard drive crashed and I was trying to install the new harddrive.  I am now trying to reinstall from an old Win7 disc but my product key has been used on too many computers.  How do I get my product key from this computer? So frustrating.

  • Doubt with usb recovery options

    Hello,
I have a satellite E45t-A4100 and I all ready create a usb recovery with recovery media creator. And i wanted  to prove if the usb recovery starts well and if everything it's ok but i have two doubts.
when the usb recovey starts, it shows a white window with two options:
    1. Start recovery wizard
    2. Select other recovery options
If i select the first option a warning message apears. It says:
"this process will erase and rewrite everything. Are you sure you want to do this? ( says something like this)
So, do i have to choose this one? I mean, do i have to choose the first option?.
This option erase all?, i mean, all the partitions too?  or it just erase the C: parrtition and return everything to the factory values?.
So, what option do i have to choose? or can i choose any of both?
Well, i sorry for my wrong writing. Im from Spain. I write as i can
Thankyou very mucho for your attention

Set the date in BIOS to 1/02/2012. Save & Exit. Boot with Recovery, let it run through the process- but on the first reboot initiated by recovery enter BIOS again to insure date is still set to 2012. If not change it again, then let recovery resume.

  • USB Recovery problem

I received my USB Recovery device. I followed directions of turning off computer, inserting USB, Hit escape, then I get the startup Menu. When I hit F9 as instructed, I get a Blue Recovery screen that says
Your PC needs to be repaired
The boot configuration data is missing some required information
    File:\BCD

I can not get past this point. Any help please!!

    Hi McCarterRN.
Did you order a USB recovery stick from HP?
Are you testing the USB recovery device or is your PC unbootable?
If your PC is functioning correctly you can, for additional peace of mind, create DVD or USB recovery media by using HP's Recovery Manager. I cannot direct you to instructions on creating recovery media as I do not know your product number and factory installed operating system (OS). If you have upgraded your OS this will present additional obstacles.
Please provide the factory and current operating system you are using. Please provide your HP product number.
HP product number instructions can be found here.

  • System won't boot to USB Recovery Media

I have a Satellite P55-A5312 with pre-installed Windows 8 (upgraded to 8.1), Intel i5 processor and 6GB Ram.  I created a set of DVD recovery media and a USB Flash (Toshiba brand 32GB) recovery drive.  I set the boot order in BIOS to USB, then DVD, then HDD.  Secure Boot is enabled.
Question I have is, how can I verify that the reovery media will boot if needed?  If I power on the laptop, neither the DVD nor USB will boot and it goes directly to Windows, which kind of makes sense.  If I then restart, the DVD recovery media will in fact boot, but the USB recovery media won't boot.  Even if I restart with F12 and choose USB as the boot device, the USB media will not boot.  The only way I can get the USB recovery media to boot is if I disable Secure Boot.
I find it hard to believe that USB recovery media will only work if Secure Boot is disabled.  What am I doing wrong?

  • HP Envy Laptop (Win8.1) Can't Create USB Recovery Drive

    Hello fellow HP PC users;
I was wondering if anyone with a DVD drive equiped laptop had successfully created a USB Recovery Set?
I just spent the last 2 days trying to do this on my new laptop - to no avail (HP nag messaged me that it was important to copy the D:/ drive recovery partition to a USB or DVD  discs) . I'm not big on CD/DVD backups as, in the past, I've experienced unwanted failures when previousl attempting a factory restore, so I wanted to use a USB drive for this backup. The HP utility for recovery disc creation only produced a gold spinning wheel/disc when a USB drive was inserted and this continued for hrs. Several tries with different USBs and ports produced similar non-results.
Today I spent an hour with Roger and Siva of HP Tech Support. I initially gave Roger a list of all of the things I had tried and I think we hit it off, as he was particularly excited about the stuff I knew, that he was unaware of. He promptly agreed that I had done everything possible to resolve the issue and he said he would send me a USB Recovery Set. This had to be authorized by his Supervisor Siva. After a half an hour on hold Siva came on the line to confirm my mailing info and said that he was authorizing the shipping of a set of recovery DVDs and that he would wave the normal $40 charge. When I asked why he wasn't sending me a USB copy, he said that because my laptop came with a DVD drive he was only authorized to mail DVDs. Exhausted, I capitulated and said "O.K. then .... go ahead and make my day and send me the DVDs!"  Nontheless, I will go to bed crying for the next few nights because I wasn't able to make/get a USB copy.
If anyone has any other info on this problem I would be interested to here about it.
    Thanks, stillgolfing

You are allowed to "make" only one set. You haven't made one yet.
I just created my Recovery USB for  Envy 15t- j100  using>> PNY Turbo 3.0 - so it is not limited to 2.0 flash drives.
I first tried with a Sandisk Extreme 3.0 which produced the same thing that you experienced... no matter what I tried. (I actually was just testing it since many had reported not being able to use that model)
I did discover that even with the PNY it would only work if I waited to insert it when Recovery Manager was at the screen where you choose usb or cd/dvd.

  • How to create a USB recovery flash drive using recovery ISO image?

This “HowTo” provides information and instruction how to create a USB recovery media flash drive using the Toshiba recovery ISO image files or Toshiba Recovery discs (DVDs)
To create a USB recovery media flash drive, a USB flash drive with at least 16GB disk space is suggested (depends on the size of the ISO images or recovery discs).
Note: Since 2015 the ISO layout has changed and a different procedure must be processed to create the USB media. The new recovery media type can be identified by the names of the ISO files.
    More info: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD4103KB0000R01.htm

Yes, that article should apply to tablets.
But if your USB recovery drive does not get recognized then it must be corrupted - you should be able to format your disk and perhaps try to see if creating a Recovery device on other devices will make it recognizable on your tablet 2.

    Hi:
I can't help you with that specific issue, but if you can't get it resolved and you can read the 25 character Microsoft Windows product key on the bottom of your PC, make your own W7 installation media to reinstall W7.
    Here's how:
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.
