HP SPLIT X2 touchscreen ghost click

I have a new hp split x2 laptop that was sent to repair a Wifi issue recently. Now I discovered that there is a gost click over the top left region of the screen. Does anybody know what can  I do in order to solver this issue?

Hi
I'll try helping,
Go through this document to troubleshoot ghost click issue: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay?javax.portlet.begCache...
Try calibrating the screen , steps are given in the last section of the document. You may update the graphic drivers.
Follow the steps promptly.
If it's not resolved , you may have to contact HP in your region, may be hardware issue.

  • TouchSmart Envy 15 Ghost Clicks

    Hi,
I need to get this thing on record somewhere --
My HP Envy 15 TouchSmart E3S19UAR has had a ghost-click problem with the TouchScreen since day one. I've done everything recommended on these forums (and elsewhere), including all updates, ground-up reinstalls, yada yada. Even ensuring my screen is clean and any other physical possibilities are excluded.
The problem, like many others' on these forums, occurs after Windows puts the system to sleep. This occurred under Windows 8.0 and continues under Windows 8.1. It is happening right now.
For some time, I had thought the problem was solved -- but then this weekend, my battery died unexpectedly. You see, in order to solve the problem, I'd changed my system power setting to "Always On," and changed other settings to ensure Windows never went to sleep. Upon realizing that, I changed power settings back to allow sleep mode... and sure enough, upon waking from its first sleep in a couple months, the system's ghost-clicks started again.
Here's why I'm posting -- I'm a few hours away from my warranty expiring (it's 10pm eastern daylight time, 8pm for the time zone apparently in use here). The HP Warranty phone folks just transferred me to paid support, and told me that warranty service wouldn't help. The HP warranty web site, however, confirms that I'm still under warranty. (Yes, I have screenshots and printouts with timestamps.)
So I plan to pursue this tonight if I can, and certainly tomorrow (Monday) when the US-based support is hopefully available. Since I don't know how else to get this thing on record, I'm posting here.
Please help, someone from hp. I'll be calling.
    Thanks.

  • Touch screen ghost clicks

    Hello,
I have a Touchsmart notebook that seems to have  a mind of it own. Occasionally, once in 2 weeks almost, the touch screen picks a spot ( the same spot ) and keeps selecting it every 5-10 seconds.
When this happen you cannot navigate or even shutdown the computer since the cursor keeps going back to that spot on the screen.
When I contacted HP support they asked me to calibrate the screen, which stopped it for few mins and then it came back. A restart following that bought be another 2 weeks of trouble free working.
Now it is a standard fix, when the ghost clicks start, I calibrate the screen (hard to do with clicking between ghost clicks), then quickly save everything before the problem starts again and restart.
Is this a faulty screen, do I have to send it in? I hate sending in my computer, for one, it leaves you computerless for 10 days and then you have to remove all your personal files and passwords and reload it again.
What is worse, is that the problem is so random that its hard to reproduce the symptoms or check if it has been fixed.
Any help would be greeeeeeeeeeatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
PS: Was running Windows 8 and now 8.1. Problems then and now.

    Hi anoopkmer,
Sorry to hear about the problem with the ghost clicks. What is your product number? This link will show you how to find that.

  • Glass cracked, huge stripes on screen, and ghost clicks? HELP!

So a while back, my glass cracked. I thought, well no big deal, I'll get it fixed sometime soon. I don't get it fixed, and around May 25th or something, I take a nap and when I wake up, it has these weird lines going down it. And it's also doing ghost clicks AKA clicking stuff I'm not asking it to and I'm getting REALLY frustrated with it. I just eventually let it go and use my iPad for everything, and now I realize, I have some REALLY important stuff on that phone, and I'm gonna need it back. So I turn it on today, and it looks even worse than I left it. The line across the screen is a HUGE chunk of the screen now, and the ghost clicks have gotten worse. Now on the day I discovered this problem, I backed up my phone, so I haven't lost pictures or anything, and that's great. But there is some app data that is really crucial to me, and I'm really gonna need it. Is there any way I can transfer the app data, and not get a new phone? Because I really don't want that. If I update it, will it do anything? I don't wanna restore it either, so please help? Yeah, this was a long story, I know.

So do iCloud backups save app data? I didn't know that, so I'll try that out, but before I do, is there anyway I can do that from a computer? The ghost clicks are driving me crazy, so I can't even get into my phone, but are backups from iTunes iCloud backups? Because that's what I did, or are those a completely different thing? I'm just so new to this thing, and to be honest, I'm kind of confused myself

  • Hp split x2 touchscreen not working while un-docking

hello hp support, i've recently bought a hp split x2 13-110dx. my touchscreen stops working whenever i detach the screen (tablet) from the keyboard (docking station). if i try to safely remove "Docking Station", first nothing happens and then after about 10 seconds all controls (touchscreen and touchpad) othen the keyboard itself stops responding. a reset allways solves this problem but that means that now i allways have to reset after every undocking. also, if the tablet is working fine, and i dock the tablet, again the touckscreen stops responding (again, reset required) i have done a hard (full) shutdown.i have installed all microsoft updates (i am running win8, not 8.1). what to do?sincerely, matan leilien

  • Ghost clicks

    Hello,
I have constant multiple ghost touching all on one side of my screen.  It is intermittent but starting to happen more often, like every 15 minutes and I have to close the screen (put the laptop into standby) or if I touch around the same area, it sometimes stops.  It's very frustrating and I cannot find a consistent reason for when it happens.
I have a HP pavilion 11 touchscreen (mini laptop).
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Sean

  • Cando touchscreen right click evtouch - should work for others too

I've made some changes to the xf86-input-evtouch PKGBUILD that i enclose here (not the official one) , now it works out of the box with Cando touchscreen in monotouch mode and with windows style right click.
It should work with others touchscreen too, it now works with standard /dev/input/event devices and input class, no need to edit udev rules anymore, but the calibrate conf file which i provide here is for s10-3t, so you probably willl have to calibrate before you can use it.
If you need to edit evtouch options put them in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-evtouch_click.conf  because  /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-evtouch_cal.conf get overwritten at every calibration.
    useful options:

my tarball (uncompress, cd in the exrated folder and do makepkg)

Thanks to GBORZI for the original packagebuild and the options in 99-evtouch_click.conf :-)

  • TX2 has multiple ghost clicks at the bottom of the screen on startup

My tx2-1025dx has a lot of "ghost" input from the digitizer, all along the bottom of the screen whenever the computer starts up. It is as if someone was tapping all along the bottom of the screen right after I login to the computer. I contacted N-trig and they told me it was my hardware, but I think otherwise. Whenever I uninstall all the ntrig software, and drivers, then reinstall, everything seems to work correctly for a few bootups. Its never long though, before the problem comes back again.
Im running Windows 7, 64 bit

I just today realized that it must be the screens flex ribbon cable must be damaged and needs to be replaced. So if anyone else ever has this problem, try tilting the screen to the left or right and see if it stops. Mine does so it has to be a short in the cable. The cable seem to run around 30 bucks and is fairly cheap compared to what I was expecting I would have had to pay.

  • Resizing split windows using ONE click and drag

Say I have two windows split vertically.
Now in order to make one window smaller and the other larger it would be really cool to be able to drag the middle line to the right or the left.
Currently, if you want to e.g. make the left window thinner and the right window larger, you have to:
    - first drag the right border of the left window to the left
    - then drag the left border of the right window to the left too, up to the right border of the left window.
    That is annoying.

  • HP Split X2 touchscreen freezes

My brand new split x2 touch screen keeps freezing.  When I reattach to keyboard - the touchpad and keyboard work fine, but still can't get touch screen to respond to touch.  Is there a fix for this?

Same issue.  Hoping HP will post a driver update for this problem.  Love this computer except for this issue.  The issue seems to happen when you use a combination of using the touch screen with your finger and going back to the mouse.I found on this on the forum, someone posted, the quickest way to get it back was to hit the power button for a short duration and go into sleep and hitting the power button again to go in.  Everything is back, the only issue with that is that you have enter your password again.  I have all update installed,  BIOS, HP driver and went to Windows 8.1 to get my start button back.  HP are you listening?

  • [SOLVED] Touchscreen not working

I have a generaltouch touchscreen, which was working in ubuntu 10.04. Now I'm trying to get it working in Arch, and it doesn't work. Symptoms are very interesting:
    1) mouse cursor doesn't move when I try using touchscreen, but button press and release events are processed correctly
    2) "lsusb" doesn't show device name, just vendor id: "Bus 001 Device 005: ID 1ddb:0001"
    3) "xinput" lists touchscreen as "HID TOUCH HID Touch Panel     id=10 [slave  pointer  (2)]" in virtual core pointer section
    4) "xinput test 10" correctly shows button press, release and motion events, all of which look quite sane
The most strange part is that although mouse cursor doesn't move, xinput test does show correct motion events. I feel that it could be easily fixed, but I cannot find config/manual to look into. Any help would be very welcome.

Hi. Thanks to your post i was able to solve mine.
If anyone is wondering, here's what i believe to be an explanation, based on third party sources and searching.
Symptom: touchscreen always clicks at the same place (e.g. top-left corner).
    1) the touchscreen manufacturer id (0x1ddb) and product id (0x1) are currently not into the usb vendors database (even after update-usbids)
    lsusb -v:
    Bus 002 Device 005: ID 1ddb:0001
    iManufacturer 1 HID TOUCH
    iProduct 2 HID Touch Panel
    2) as such, the kernel (through udev) tried to discover the nature of it blind folded (i'd be interested to know on what basis), and ends up thinking that's a tablet device (and not a touchscreen)

    3) tablets (e.g. wacom) have 4 axis: X, Y, Z (because the pen can be detected when closing up to the surface, or somtimes will send out pressure information) and Rotary X (i would guess the angle of the pen)
    xinput list-props 12:
Device 'HID TOUCH HID Touch Panel':
    Axis Labels (271): "Abs X" (281), "Abs Y" (282), "Abs Z" (283), "Abs Rotary X" (284)
Button Labels (272): "Button Left" (143), "Button Middle" (144), "Button Right" (145), "Button Wheel Up" (146), "Button Wheel Down" (147)
    4) because the driver is generic, it fails associating the correct data to the correct axis; by testing the device (xinput test 12 -- where 12 is the id of the HID Touch Panel found through xinput list), you can see that it's actually putting the X and Y coordinates to the Z and Rotary X axis; and that's exactly why when touching the screen, the cursor will always go to the top left corner (0,0).
    xinput test 12:
    motion a[0]=0 a[1]=0 a[2]=668 a[3]=900
    motion a[0]=0 a[1]=0 a[2]=669 a[3]=912
    motion a[0]=0 a[1]=0 a[2]=672 a[3]=928
    a[0] and a[1] are obviously the 2 first axes X and Y, a[2] and a[3] the others (Z and Rotary X)
    5) now for the solution, what we want is force the usbhid kernel module to consider the device as a 2 axis touchscreen, not a tablet.
Given the large number of unknown/OEM/slightly differring USB devices out there, the Linux kernel already has some tweaks to force some behaviours, called quircks (list of quircks in hid.h), and there is one especially for this: HID_QUIRK_MULTI_INPUT. The hid.h file will give you the hex code for the quirck.
    Syntax is quirks=vendorid:productid:quirckhexcode
    modinfo usbhid
parm: quirks:Add/modify USB HID quirks by specifying quirks=vendorID:productID:quirks where vendorID, productID, and quirks are all in 0x-prefixed hex (array of charp)
You can set quircks either directly into the kernel like you did (into the hid blacklist), or at module loading time (modprobe usbhid quirks=1ddb:0x1:0x40), or at boot time by adding usbhid.quirks=0x1ddb:0x1:0x40 to the kernel boot line.
After rebooting/reloading, there is a new xinput device available (with the same name), but only 2 axes, and it works, and can be calibrated.
    However, i'd be curious about:
    * what exactly is the HID_QUIRK_MULTI_INPUT doing ? From third party sources, i think it will break the device into 2 devices, explaining why xinput -list shows a new device; i guess that the first one has X and Y, and the other Z and Rotary X
    * since the device does not actually have 4 axes, any way to remove/disable the 2nd device permanently ?
    * why did usbhid fallback to tablet mode ?
    * is forcing the use of quirks the right way to go inside the blacklist ? Shouldn't the new vendor id and product id be added to the product database, and set the device to touchscreen type, and not force by using quircks ?
    Thanks for any follow up...

  • I need help splitting video into segments

I am very new to this and trying to figure all this out. Does anyone know how to capture a video and then split into several segments so it will show on the main menu as 3 separate videos to watch? I want to have the video split so you can click on the different icons on the main menu and then that would take you to a chapter menu for each video. Does that make sense? Can anyone help me? Please and thank you!

    Hi Michele:
You can do that with Chapter Markers.
    Setting chapter markers
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/6.0/en/imv1110.html
Just be certain to follow the "Chapter Marker Rules":
*Make sure no chapter markers are within two seconds of the start or end of the timeline.
*Make sure no chapter markers are within a transition.
*Make sure no chapter markers are within two seconds of the end of a transition.
*Make sure you do not have the "Share selected Clips" option checked when preparing to share to iDVD

  • Split clip in EVENT

I'd like to split a clip in the EVENT (not the project). The yellow box selector is woefully inadequate for precision selection (down to the frame). And even if you could select the clip to split, there is no way to split it. Rt-click/split ONLY works in the STUPID project library. I don't want to create projects! I want to divvy up my "raw" event video into appropriate events!
(I digitized 2 hrs of Hi8 video -- many different events.)
Help me before I hate iMovie '09 more!!

First, it is quite possible to edit to the frame level. Go to iMovie Preferences and put an check next to "Display Time as HH:MM:SS:Frames".
Next, you can split events but it is slow, and you have to destroy a frame at each split. Rather than tell you how, there is a way I much prefer that is quicker.
I do a lot of 8MM and VHS imports myself.
    1) Download MPEG Streamclip, which is free.
    2) Drag your file into MPEG Streamclip.
    3) <----Start of Event----->
    4) Position cursor at the frame where you want the event to start. Click i to set the "in point".
    5) Position cursor at the frame where you want the event to end. Click o to set the "out point".
    6) Click File/Export Using QuickTime. Choose a codec. If your event is DV, you may want to simply pass the clip through streamclip as DV. If it is MPEG2 or something highly compressed, convert it to Apple Intermediate Codec. (NOTE: for MPEG2 you also need the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component, available online from Apple $20)
    7) Optional: You can deinterlace in this step, if you need to. Depends on your target media. Do a test.
    8) Give your new event a name. I suggest that you name your clip as follows, because this will provide metadata that allows iMovie to automatically put the event in the right year and month, and allows you to see the time codes while skimming the event withe your cursor (VIEW/DISPLAY TIME CODES)
    9) Here is the format for the name:
clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss (let MPEG Streamclip provide the extension, it will be DV or MOV)
    where yyyy=year
    mm=month in 2 digits
    dd=day
remember a space between dd and hh
    hh=hour in 24 hour time
    mm = minutes
    ss = seconds.
    10) Additional splits needed on this clip? Go back to step 3.
    11) In iMovie, select FILE/IMPORT from file.

  • Split Stereo Channel Output into Left & Right

Is there a way to split the output of stereo channel strip (in this case, consisting of an EXS24 sampler, with some samples panned hard left) into two mono channels strips, auxes, or outputs (left and right)? For example, in Pro Tools you can select "Track > Split into Mono" to split a stereo track into two mono tracks, and control each resulting track independently. I'm talking about signal path, not splitting a saved AIFF or sound file. Is there a way to do this within Logic?

Route the output to a bus, then create two new aux channels and assign their inputs to that bus. At that point, you'll be getting the full stereo output routed to each of your two new channels. To split left and right, click-hold on the mono/stereo button at the bottom of the aux channels, and select "left" on one and "right" on the other.
    That should do it!

  • IPhone 5 Touchscreen Issues??

Ever since I took my phone off of airplane mode after getting of a plane, the touch screen has been acting up.
When I press the lock button to unlock my phone the touchscreen seems to be locked so i have to lock and unlock again in order to put in my password. Also, sometimes when im trying to type the touchscreen is clicking other letters which i then have to lock my phone again and unlock for it to go back to normal. Anyone having the same problem and a solution??

Hello.  This may be an anomaly with your phone as it seemed to be with mine.  My touchscreen wouldn't respond if the ambient temperature got down to the mid-50s F.  The promised ambient temperature range for operation is 32 to 95 F so I brought mine to an Apple store.  They didn't know how to test the issue so they replaced the device.  The replacement did not behave the same way and I even put it in a plastic bag in refrigeration for a few minutes (38 F or so) and it still functioned normally.  This lead me to believe the issue was just an anomaly with the first phone.  I would recommend calling Apple Customer Care beforehand, as they may be able to save you the hassle of dealing with the tech 'geniuses' at a store.
