HP still doesn't have Print drivers for Mountain Lion?

A couple of months ago, I upgraded my MBP (mid-2008; 2.4 GHZ) to Mountain Lion.  I am now running OS X 10.8.2.  Once I completed the upgrade, I discovered that I was unable to print to my networked HP Laser printer  (It is an HP LaserJet P1606dn).  The printer appears as one of the selectable printers, but there is a message stating that I need software from the manufacturer in order to print.  So, I checked HPs website and discovered that the product is unsupported in Mountain Lion, but that "a software update is to be issued in Fall 2012".  I just checked their website again, and here is what I found on the product support page:
Product Supported Soon in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
HP is committed to providing the best product experience for the OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion operating system.
Today, a solution for your printer is not available for Mountain Lion. However, a driver update will be available in 2013 .
HP aspires to provide the most up-to-date information on HP drivers and software. Please check back for updates.
Has anyone found, or know of, a work-around for this issue?  I have not been able to use this printer from my MBP since upgrading.  Once I disovered this limitation, I defered upgrading our iMac to 10.8, so that I am able to print from at least one of our computers.   Appreciate any solutions anybody may have found to this limitation.  It seems unfathomable to me that HP could have a mainstream product like this NOT supported in 10.8, especially since the operating system has been on the market for many months.  And to state that the driver will be "available in 2013" is grossly unacceptable.  We'll be on 10.9 by the time they get around to updating their drivers for 10.8.

Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud. How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Or can I? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion?

I need to check a few other things...
Click on 'Mail' in the upper left corner next to the Apple ()
    Click Preferences
    Click the 'Accounts' tab
Make sure your iCloud account is highlighted in the column on the left.
In the account information section what does it say next to:
    Incoming Mail Server?
    Outgoing Mail Server?
Also, did you use MobileMe before the iCloud?

  • Is it possible to upgrade to lion or do I have to wait for mountain lion?

Is it possible to  still upgrade to Lion or do I have to wait for Mountain Lion later in July?  I currently have Snow Leopard and upgraded RAM to 4GB on an older iMac Core Duo in order to use iCloud features in Lion.  Also, I'm wanting to upgrade iMovie and iPhoto, but I'm having difficulty finding a download link that will let me do it online without going through the App Store, and it says I need to be running 10.7.  I feel like I'm in an "obsolete" double bind until I upgrade to Mountain Lion and it isn't possible yet.  I'm wanting to use iMovie 8 or higher in order to download AVCHD video.  I just bought a new camera that shoots AVCHD and I can't download any HD video,  nor can I find any of my old video which used to be on iPhoto and would open w/ Quick Time.  User friendly Mac is no longer so intuitive.

Yes, you can purchase Lion as well as iPhoto and iMovie from the App Store. But before you can do that you must update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 by installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. Then you can sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and password, locate the items you want, purchase them, and download them to your computer.

  • With the current up coming addition of Maverick will Apple still support and put out Updates for Mountain Lion?

With the current up coming addition of Maverick OS will Apple still support and put out Updates out for Mountain Lion? I want to make sure my computer will still be secured.

I'm sure that Apple will continue to provide support for Mountain Lion and other previous versions of their operating system. They have always provided updates for most versions of their software, even though newer versions were released.

  • IOS 6 still doesn't have optional timestamps for messages?

That is the one thing i need to have and like having, i get annoyed at that something as simple as adding timestamps still hasn't been done.
Apple you really need to add this in the next update as an optional setting!
Is it just me or does anyone else like having ever messaged time stamped?

I absolutely agree with you. I just recently switched to Apple (ip5). Every phone I ever had before always had a timestamp for every message; most could not be turned off. Maybe it's just a preference but I don't know why anyone wouldn't want it that way and am surprised Apple doesn't have it (fully) available. Were iPhones always this way? This is something that is WAY behind the times! They can easily change it to stamp everything and make it optional. This should be updated asap!

  • If I upgrade to Lion now will I still have to pay for Mountain Lion?

And if so - does it matter - as it may be a pre-requisit for upgrading in the summer?
I currently have snow leopard, but having recently added an iPad to the family - Lion appears to be a better fit.

Well, its gonna be priced seperately regardless to lion, but if you buy a new mac or macbook pro before a month of its release, you may be entilled for an upgrade for free. This is what apple did last year with new mac owners, otherwise we've to pay or mountain lion.

  • Do I have to pay for Mountain Lion, just bought Lion 2 days ago?

On July 1 I purchased Lion and haven't even gotten it installed yet and just read that Mountain Lion will be released in July. Will Apple offer a free update like they do for people who buy a Mac with Lion after June 11, 2012?
This is what the website says about purchasing a Mac with Lion
The OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date upgrade will be available at no additional charge from the Mac App Store to all customers who purchase a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 11, 2012.
Customers must request their Up-to-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchasing their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 11, 2012 and the date when Mountain Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from the OS X Mountain Lion release date to make a request.
When Mountain Lion becomes available in July, come back to this page for details on how to request your copy of Mountain Lion.

I only bought Lion because my Address Book wouldn't sync after the end of MobileMe Saturday night.
Really Apple sent out notices about this happening for months. And has had Mountain Lion in the works for at least 4 months with notices all over the net that it will be released sometime this summer.
Simple answer is NO you will not be offered a free upgrade.
If you used your CC to purchase it call Apple and ask to return it or contact your CC company and dispute the charge.

I bought a 2011 macbook pro after clean it up and reinstal Mountain lion, i did an update since then, whe i start up and shut down the computer gets a spinnin wheel which takes forever. I have read about this problem but i'm new at mac, and seem to be kind of complicated repair it. I'm wonder if anyone knows if apple is doing something to fix this? macbooks arent chip and i shouldnt go thru all the the time consuming to get it works how sopose to.
if some one knows anything or if there is anybody who can guide me step by step on how to fix this, i really will apreciate that.
    thank you.

    As cbs20 says...
Boot up holding command-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
The screen should give you these choices...
    Restore from TM backup
    Reinstall Mac OS X
    Get help online
    Disk Utility
First run Disk Utility Repair Disk, if you get errors run until no errors reported or reports "the disk cannot be fixed". Then, choose Reinstall OS X. This will be an install "in place" and shouldn't effect any of your own data or settings.

  • Can't download windows 8 drivers for mountain lion.

It gives me an error, "Can't download windows support software because of a network problem."
This is my first time settting up bootcamp for windows 8. Even if I do download the files manually, what do I do with them?

It says Windows 7 and Windows 8, read it again.

Your Mac is definitely one of the supported models? http://www.apple.com/uk/osx/specs/
If so, what happens when you try to download? Is it a case of nothing happens? If so, take a look at the suggestions under 'Stalled Download' in this link:
    http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/10/mavericks-issues-and-fixes/#slideid-23477 1
Also, some usrs have found that logging out of the Mac App Store and then back in again and starting over has kick-started the download. It seems that the 5+gb download can take a long time to give any feedback as to what's happening.
