Hp Storage MP - SCOM R2

Hello,
I've installed HP management pack for Scom, used the tool it has to discover my MSA device, overwrote the 2 discovery rules but scom itself still doesn't see it, it appears at Network Devices as CERTIFIED, but nothing at HP MSA pack directory, what could
be the problem?
Thanks

Hi,
It seems like that the device is discovered, but not listed as HP pack folder. Have you followed the management pack guide? Do you have all discovery rules enabled in that MP?
Will you please check is there any errors or warnings listed under your operation manager event logs?
Regards,
Yan Li

  • Hp storage mgmt pack for scom

    Hi,
I am trying to use HP storage monitoring pack v 3.0.1 to monitor HP 3PAR storages with System Center Operations manager (SCOM).
I am having trouble getting Events/Alerts from the management pack. I have done the addsnmpmgr <mgmt server ip> to enable SNMP traps. I can get the diagram view / state view but not the alerts. The overrides told in the doc are in place. Can you pls tell me as to what I am doing wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Yes,
I have enabled HP StoreVirtual SNMP Trap Catcher Rule
and HP StoreVirtual Storage Discovery Rule
SNMP WMI Provider is installed and the  SNMP Trap Service is disabled
Is all this event something we have to live with as Jugganutz1871 says? This will
    fill up the event log...

  • IBM Storage MP download for SCOM 2012

    Hi All,
We have recently installed an IBM V7000 Storage Controller to each of our data centres.
These V7000s manage the external disk storage for the IBM iSeries systems at each of the data centres.
We would like to link them in to SCOM monitoring so that any alerts can be picked up rather than having to do that manually as we do now. Can you let me know what info is required & how we go about this.
I have referred below link for IBM Storage v7000 Storewize MP details but I don’t find correct link to download files.
    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/strhosts/ic/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.help.strghosts.doc%2FSCOM%2F1.2.0%2FRN%2Fscom_rn_changelog_1.2.0.html
Can someone provide the link to download latest IBM Storage MP. Is this MP is free or need to be purchased?
More information on this will be really helpful.
    Regards, Suresh

    Thanks dktoa.
This time I have registered myself and got an IBM Id associated to my Email Address and downloaded the files. Still I couldn't monitor what I am expecting. Let me explain.
I have exported SCOM Storage MP and got below files.
When I try to execute “SCOM-Integration-Pack-WSX64-02.00.35.0002.exe”, it installed IBM Storage Subsytems. It looks like below(Add Storage Subsystems screenshot).
As per Documentation, I should get an option to select Storewize v7000. I am worrying if I have downloaded wrong MP’s from IBM portal. But I dont see any other MP's related to SCOM IBM MP's.
When I select “Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager Management Pack” in product Selector, I am getting only option to select Version 2.0 and 32 or 64 bit exe’s.
As per documentation, we should download below files:
    IBM_Storage_MP_for_SCOM-windows-x86-2.1.0.exe – for 32-bit Windows Server versions
    IBM_Storage_MP_for_SCOM-windows-x64-2.1.0.exe – for 64-bit Windows Server versions
My ultimate goal is to achieve below requirement:
“We have recently installed an IBM V7000 Storage Controller to each of our data centres. These V7000s manage the external disk storage for the IBM iSeries systems at each of the data centres.
We would like to link them in to SCOM monitoring so that any alerts can be picked up rather than having to do that manually as we do now. Can you let me know what info is required & how we go about this.”

  • SCOM 2012/SP1/R2 - What Is the Best Management Pack for HP Storage (P2000)

    Hi all!
What would be the best recommended Management Pack for HP Storage (P2000) for the SCOM 2012/SP1/R2? Free products are privileged, of course, but we would also consider the paid ones.
Thank you very much for your time and attention!
    Best regards!

    Hi,
Recently I created Custom Management pack for MSA P2000 Storage. Its primary purpose is to monitor performance.

  • Can overrides from SCOM 2007 R2 be used in a new SCOM 2012 R2 installation?

    Hi All,
I'm wondering if we can "easily" use our overrides/configuration from our current SCOM 2007 R2 implementation and use them in a new SCOM
2012 R2 environment that we plan on standing up.  We are using SCOM to monitor approx. 400 servers (physical and virtual).
We have been using 2007 R2 for a few years and we'd like to start using 2012 R2.  Instead of using the update path (2007 R2 to 2012
to 2012 SP1 to 2012 R2), we are planning on setting up a new 2012 R2 environment and configuring our servers to start reporting to 2012 R2 (after it has been configured in such a way as to "mimic" our 2007 R2 environment).
Ideally, we'd like to avoid going through the upgrade path.  (We'll leave our 2007 R2 environment running so that we can still access "historical
data" until the new 2012 R2 environment has had a chance to build up its own "historical data".)
So ... I was thinking we could export our overrides from 2007 R2 and import them into 2012 R2, but I'd like to verify that this approach makes
sense.  We haven't done extensive customizations to 2007 R2 in terms of Distributed Applications or Management Pack Objects (although we have made some changes - which I guess we could manually configure in 2012 R2 to offer the same "experience").
The following are some of the Management Packs that we are using in 2007 R2:
    Microsoft Windows Active Directory
    Active Directory Certificate Services
    EMC Storage Monitoring
    IBM Hardware
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
    McAfee
    Microsoft Forefront Server Protection 2010
    Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
    Microsoft SQL Server
    Microsoft Windows DNS Server
    Microsoft Windows WINS
    Microsoft Windows Hyper-V
    Microsoft Windows Internet Information Services
     Microsoft Windows Server
    Microsoft Windows DHCP
    NetBackup Operations Manager
    Office Communications Server
    OpsLogix (BlackBerry)
Service Level Dashboard for OpsMgr 2007 R2
    SolarWinds Orion
    Schedule Maintenance Mode
    Team Foundation Server 2010
    Virtual Machine Manager
    Microsoft Windows Cluster
    Operations Manager 2007 R2
I appreciate all feedback and the sharing of you expertise.
    Thanks, Joe.

As long as the base pack works and you wish to retain the customisation then you should be ok, there’s a good article
here which explains how to perform the migration and some of implication/things to check.
There will be complications if you’ve stored anything in the default mp but this is explained in the above article.

  • SCOM agent install fails Error 80070035 - the network path was not found

I have deployed SCOM 2012 agents to most servers (2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012R2) in our estate but some either fail to install or are not monitored. I assume the two problems are related, but for now I am concentrating on the servers that fail completely.
Installation is from the Discovery Wizard and I have about 20 servers that fail of various server versions.
So looking at one specific server that is failing to install the agent - a 2008 standard service pack 2
The firewall in on and file and printer sharing is enabled for domain, remote administration is enabled for domain
I added a specific rule to allow TCP 5723 and 5724
    DCOM is enabled
I can Ping the target server from the SCOM server by both name and FQDN - both return the same IP and our DNS server has only one entry for this server
I can browse to the admin share \\server\C$ from the SCOM Server, using the same account that I specify for the agent install that is a domain admin with rights on this server (and on the other servers the agent
did install to) and the server has plenty of disk space available
I am not sure what else to look at so would welcome any ideas
    Thanks

    Hi Petro,
I have a Agent installation failure cheat sheet, For your error 80070035 it is said to perform a manual installation.
So i would like to understand which version of SCOM is this ? 2007 R2 or 2012 or 2012 r2 ?
Also check if your agents have the WMI service started and enabled ?
Also if yours is a SCOM 2007 R2 do you have a RMS & MS in your management group ? If yes then Pushing the agent installation from MS may cause such issue. So would suggest you push the installation from RMS.
Also check if your Network connectivity meets the minimum requirement as recommended by SCOM. Below is applicable for Both SCOM 2007 R2 & SCOM 2012 & 2012 R2.
    Component A
    Component B
    Minimum Requirement
Root management server or management server
    Agent
    64 Kbps
Root management server or management server
    Agentless
    1024 Kbps
Root management server or management server
    Database
    256 Kbps
Also check if you have any Anti virus / Firewall which is blocking the install / communication. If yes disabe or add the "Monitoringhost.exe to the safe list or what your feature is.
Check if you have another IP assigned to the NIC card and remove it tempraurly andchecl.
Also post the event logs of the Agents which are in not monitored state for analysis.

When you install or remove a management agent, the Operations Manager 2007 management server copies temporary files to the remote computer. One
of these files is named LockFileTime.txt. This lock file is intended to prevent another management server from performing a management agent installation at the same time as the current installation. If the management agent installation is unsuccessful and
if the management server loses connectivity with the remote computer, the temporary files may not be removed. Therefore, the LockFileTime.txt may remain in the folder on the remote computer. When the management server next tries to perform an agent installation,
the management server detects the lock file. Therefore, the management agent installation is unsuccessful.

But I am getting this alert from SCOM and SCOM has no information about the alert for me to find out what to do - thought that was the point of SCOM to let you know of problems and how to resolve them. :)
The alert is coming from the Error Count Monitor that is part of the Hyper-V Management Pack Extensions (v 4.0.0.0)
I have tried looking in the Event Logs on the Host and there doesn't seem to be any storage related errors there. I am trying to establish if this is a false positive, why it is happening and if it is safe to override and ignore.
There is nothing on the Product Knowledge tab and nothing on the Alert Context other than what I have already mentioned (see below).

  • SCOM 2012 R2 HA design but using SQL 2014 Standard edition

    Hi All,
I want to deploy SCOM 2012r2 with a HA design (but have constraints!)
Plan is two management servers with all roles to each (fresh deployment so 2012r2 RU5)
SQL servers need to be 2014 standard edition due to licensing and cost constraints.
Design is to be split between two datacentres that are fibre connected and sub 3ms latency
Plan was to have a Management Server and a SQL server at each location.
Each location has a dedicated SAN but SAN replication is not an option.
What are my SQL options for the DB??
AlwaysOn FCI is not preferable as it gives a single point of failure due to shared storage requirement.
I read Database mirroring is not a supported config but this isn't Microsoft direct info just blog post, is this correct.
Which leaves me with log shipping, is this supported and the best option??
Would be great to get advice on what works well in the field with a contraint of having to use SQL Standard edition!
    Thanks
    James

    Hi,
No additional licenses are needed for management servers or SQL Server technology.

I have the same issue.  This is a single-purpose physical mailbox server with 320 users and 72GB of RAM.  That should be plenty.  I've checked and there are no manual settings for the database cache.  There are no other problems with
the server, nothing reported in the logs, except for the aforementioned error (see below).
The server is sluggish.  A reboot will clear up the problem temporarily.  The only processes using any significant amount of memory are store.exe (using 53GB), regsvc (using 5) and W3 and Monitoringhost.exe using 1 GB each.  Does anyone have
    any ideas on this?

    Brian,
We had this event log entry as well which SCOM picked up on, and 10 seconds before it the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange updated all of its engines.
We are running Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3 with no file system antivirus (the boxes are restricted and have UAC turned on as mitigations). We are running the servers primarily as Hub Transport servers with 16GB of RAM, but they do have the mailbox role installed
for the sole purpose of serving as our public folder servers.
So we theroized the STORE process was just grabbing a ton of RAM, and occasionally it was told to dump the memory so the other processes could grab some - thus generating the alert. Up until last night we thought nothing of it, but ~25 seconds after the
cache flush to paging file, we got the following alert:

Do you have any ideas on how to prevent this 906 warning, which cascaded into a transport service outage?

  • SSRS for SCOM 2012 need separate instance of SQL

    Hi All,
My customer has planned to install SCOM 2012 R2 in their environment. I designed for them as followings:
    Planned 3 MS servers namely, MS1, MS2 & MS3
The rolls planned on those MS servers as follows:
    MS1 – Management Server,
    Operation console & Web console
    MS2 – Management Server,
    Operation console & Web console
    MS3 – Management Server,
ACS, SQL Reporting services & SCOM Reporting server
Customer has their existing SQL cluster database configured. This existing SQL database is also utilized by other applications.
I am planning to keep all the SCOM databases (Operation Manager DB, Operation DW DB, Reporting DB & ACS DB) on the central location on SAN storage of the SQL cluster.
For this, I requested to customer for a new instance of SQL to install SCOM DBs & SQL Server Reporting services.
Customer raised a concern on Why would need to install the databases & SQL Server Reporting services on a separate instance.
I replied as, The new instance requested will host the databases along with the SQL Server reporting services (SSRS).
The installation of SQL server report server will integrate the security of selected SSRS instance with Operation Manager role based security. Any reports that were previously installed on this
SQL server instance might become inaccessible. No other applications that are using SQL Server Reporting Services can be installed on this instance of SQL Server.
On this, Customer says if SSRS is planning to install on the MS3 server then there would not need to create a separate instance on SQL cluster. We can go with the existing instance for installation
of SCOM databases on SQL cluster and SSRS on MS3 server.
I need your inputs on this, as can I still require the new instance of SQL on SQL cluster or can go with the existing instance for installation of SCOM databases on SQL cluster and SSRS on MS3 server.
    Kindly provide your inputs.
    Regards,
    SandeepK

Although SCOM can share a single instance running SQL Server to store data, this is not a recommended configuration. The SSRS is the same, no document says that it can be shared with others.

  • Issues with Monitoring Azure services with SCOM 2012 R2

    Hi,
I'm trying to setup monitoring of our Azure subscriptions in a new installation of Operations Manager 2012 R2 which is running in-house as it is also monitoring our internal services.  I've used the guide below:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/walterm/archive/2013/04/13/first-impressions-on-system-center-management-pack-for-windows-azure-fabric-preview-for-scom-2012-sp1.aspx
This has all worked OK and I've been able to add the subscription into OP Manager and it's found the cloud service, storage and VM's.  However when I try to add the monitoring and I go to create this When I select the Add option in the Add Monitoring
Wizard and click the Search button to list the components (Cloud Service, Storage and VM's) nothing is found despite me having already selected the subscription.
Has anyone else experienced this or can offer any advice?
    Many Thanks
    Colin

    Hi,
Which version of RDP client you are using for your client?
Does more user login at same period of time?
As you have commented that after sticking the user can’t able to login in RDCB server, here I can suggest you to check the setting of connection broker. Also you can check that you have place the proper location path of UPD while configuring in collection configuration
wizard. You can take a look at below article foe virtual desktop configuration.
Deploying Virtual Desktops with Windows Server 2012
Are you trying to use same UPD for different collection then also it might happens to occur your issue. The fact of UPD is User profile disks are for a single collection only. A user connecting to two different collections will have two separate profiles. If
you want to synchronize settings, refer to Microsoft User Experience Virtualization. Go through this article for more understanding related to UPD.
Working with User Profile Disks on Session-Based Desktop Deployments
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Windows Azure Monitoring in SCOM 2012 R2

    Hi,
We have Azure subscription which has few cloud services and VM in running state. We want to monitor the VMs running on Azure using SCOM 2012 R2 running on our corp network behind firewall. SCOM Server connected to the internet through the corp proxy.
We have imported the Azure Management packs in to SCOM and Added the Subscription successfully. But, the Azure resource inventory like Discovered Cloud Services, Discovered Storage, Discovered Virtual Machines are empty.
Kindly please help to configure azure monitoring using SCOM 2012 R2.

We're experiencing those issues, also - SCVMM 2012R2, both U1 and U2 (we had the errors on both versions).
    Similar setup:
2 clustered SOFS servers presenting SMB3 - fronting clustered NetApp storage via iSCSI
2 Hyper V hosts for management
3 or more Hyper V hosts for tenants
SCVMM 2012 R2 is in a guest cluster

It's funny, I've set up a few different SCVMM environments, and seen this before - but I can't recall what the issue/outcome was.

  • WmiPrvSE.exe Consuming A Lot of RAM on 2012R2 DCs with SCOM Agent

    Good afternoon,
I have three Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain controllers (AD DS, DNS, and DFS roles) and I'm running SCOM 2012 R2 Update Rollup 1 with all the latest management packs for Server 2012 R2, Active Directory, DNS, and DFS.
When I install SCOM agents on these DCs, a WmiPrvSE process starts consuming a lot of memory until it reaches around 512MB.  At that point no one can RDP to the DCs, but we can enter-possession to get-process | sort ws and kill the offending WmiPrvSE.exe
process.  When I uninstall the SCOM agent the server returns to normal.
Other Windows Server 2012 R2 servers in our environment don't have this problem.  And when we had Windows Server 2012 (no R2) domain controllers this wasn't an issue.  My assumption is one of the management packs are an issue.
I've seen other posts, but they are either related to older versions of Windows Server or not domain controllers.
These are all the features I have installed on the DCs:
    Active Directory Domain Services
    DNS Server
    File and Storage Services
    File and iSCSI Services
    File Server

I have ever seen somebody has similar problem when import DNS MP to DC. Check whether it is this situation.
Otherwise, Open Event Viewer to see if there are any useful info there.
    Last, apply the Hotfix below.

  • HP Storage Management Pack Conflicts with Network Monitoring SNMP

The HP Storage management pack that I installed requires starting the Windows SNMP services, which creates a conflict with SNMP used for SCOM network monitoring.  I am spinning up a second SCOM mangement server so I can split these functions. What would
you recommend to split these functions across the two management servers?  Uninstall the HP Storage Management Pack, and install on the new server?  Or move the network monitoring to the second server?
    Thank you for your help!

Does the HP Storage pack support resource pools? What I've found with these 3rd party packs that implement connector services is they do not provide true HA via SCOM resource pools - they are standalone systems with a connector service. This is true for
the NetApp (DataONTAP) pack, and it's a huge disappointment.
Vendors do this because they have an API, and they think the only way to implement discovery and monitoring in SCOM is to create a service that accesses the API - and then the service is basically a collector in this case, and typically has a handful of
rules (sometimes just one rule) that scrape events on the management server and they are misinterpreted to be alerts coming from some instance.
I turn green when I run into this type of problem, because all this can be accomplished with native modules or managed code that are designed to work very well with SCOM.
I know this doesn't answer your question - it's more a way for me to express my distain for these type of packs.
