HP stream energy star. I am locked out of my home screen.

I am locked out of my home screen. I set a four digit PIN when I purchased three months ago. Now nothing seems to work. powers up, goes to welcome screen, I enter PIN and nothing. How can I bypass and reset PIN?

Hello cardoc14, If you cannot log into your windows account, you may need to reset Windows back to factory and start over.To do this:Rapidly tap the F11 key at start up or press and hold the F11 key and press the power button.Choose Troubleshoot from the Boot Options menu.Choose the Recovery Manager and follow the instructions. You will lose any saved files and installed programs when you reset the laptop.

  • Locked Out of Windows Home Server 2011 - Removed Password

    Hi All
    I made a bit of a boo boo. This relates to Windows Home Server 2011. Basically I needed my server to boot directly to desktop and not go to a login screen. I thought I know I will just remove the password (bad decision).
    It now goes to the login screen and it won't let me login with no password. It says something about not being allowed.
    So I am now stuck at the Login screen. I don't really want to have to re-install the OS again, so any help would be great.
    Cheers

    Hello neilmjones,
    mmm, there is something strange: if you was able to reset password to blank, then the System was set to permit blank passwords (System Policies), so you should be able to login too.
    Are you sure you reset password to blank ?
    Answering to your first question, once you resolve login issue, you can follow this
    Microsoft Support article
    How to turn on automatic logon in Windows (even if it isn't reccomended) or this other Blog post How
    to Enable Auto-Logon for your Server.
    Note: Please, write here new TechNet Forums post link you opened on Windows Home Server 2011.

    Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore via iTunes:

  • With the new iOS everything keeps dropping out to the home screen

    After updating to the latest iOS my iPad will drop out of any program to the main screen what gives?

    To all posters who are having this precise issue: Wi-Fi works upon rebooting, and connects to the closest network, and will work for some time, HOWEVER it will sporadically lose connection and will no longer see ANY networks until rebooting again.
    I Believe i know what is happening here: I think it is a problem with the wifi module running too hot, and shorting out or otherwise losing connection.  I'm led to believe this because it looses bluetooth as well which is found on the same module!
    Last night I restored iOS 5 (for the 3rd time) and of course it worked on first boot.  I stayed connected to my router for about an hour, doing some light internet use (browsing internet, using the remote to control my Apple TV) HOWEVER as soon as I tried to do a Wi-Fi sync to iTunes, to copy over some podcasts, it quit.  I tried turning wifi on and off and it just couldn't see the network at all.
    When it does more intensive transfers OR if you get farther away from the router, the card boosts up power consumption, gets hot and shuts down. I can see no other solution.
    Today at my office I rebooted my phone, immediately connected to my office wifi. It stayed connected 3 hrs, only delivering occasional email.  I turned off wifi, came home, turned it back on and it connected immediately.  I started a wifi sync and sure enough it quite within 5 min.
    I'm quite sure this is a programming/hardware issue because i have absolutely NEVER had an issue until upgrading to iOS 5.  I think they are sending too much power or something to the wifi/bluetooth module.
    I'm hoping its not permanently frying the module!
    Sad thing is, exact same thing happened to my 3G when iOS 4 came out!

  • Small circled lock icon atop the home screen?

    What does it mean?

    That means your screen won't rotate if you hold it sideways.
    In the new layout,
    Press the home button or on/off button to wake up your phone.
    Pull the lower bar up (next to the camera icon)
    There in the quick settings you will see on the right side the same icon.
    Press it and it will be gone again.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Corrupted/Locked out apple ID "An Unknown Error has occurred" logging into support?

    I was forced to use a different apple id to log into this support community because all attempts from different devices and browsers using another ID have ended up at the password prompt with "An unknown error has occurred" at the community login screen.  The ID can still be "manged" and appears to be able to make purchases from the iTunes Store over the internet.  A phone incident case number 388249960 was opened and I spent over an hour on the phone with this problem.  The ID in question was set up more than two years ago to help with my wife's iPad 1 which we paid 800 plus for,,, all the storage and bells and whistles.  Recently she started using the iTunes store to purchase and download television series and we got in trouble because her directories were filling the c:drive on a Vista Business computer she normally uses.  Before starting to deal with the problem of storage, I tried to make sure everything was up to date and downloaded/installed the latest iTunes 11.0,1,, to her machine.  I already had it on another machine running Windows 7 and two older Windows XP machines.    All of them were "tested" for home networking to our Apple TV so that I could go to the TV and find a computer which could be used as a source for streaming music, videos, etc., etc. all based on her ID.  As of this writing, I believe all of that functionality still exists, but, when I navigate to support and try to log in using her ID and password, I get re-prompted for the password and then "Locked Out" when "An Unknown Error Has Occurred" pops up above the login via the web site.
    I am writing this after much agony and travial via an obsolete instance of Windows Explorer running on Windows XP Home Premium on an old portable using a newly created Apple ID which does not appear to have the same problems logging into the support community.  Can anyone out there help me?
    I have gone to war with Comcast's "free" security enhancement software "Constant Guard" believing that it might be the source.  This machine had it installed at one time and has had it completely removed, but... it still experiences the error when my wife's ID is used.
    The issue may be related to the recently added requirement for secuity questions and recovery email addresses which I tried to address for her ID and inadvertently ran into conflict/problem with using certain other email addresses with her ID.  Perhaps something is corrupted in the database for her ID, or related to problems with support for esoteric things like Microsoft's .NET enhancements which I have long been using on my computers, or possibly Constant Guard "started" the problem because it was probably running when account security data was being updated via the Apple web site?  I tried to get information about what I thought was the "recovery email address" associated with her account and was told by Apple Web sites that it was "in use" as an apple ID and could not be used as her recovery address.  When I called trying to confirm that this ID was "mine" I was able to provide one of two security clearance pieces of data, but not enough information to get the support person to straighten things out for me. I ended up creating "yet another" ID just to get clear of the mess.
    I made a suggestion to one of the folks I spoke with that an improvement to the functionality of apple ID's would be to support "consolidation" of accounts so that if several different Apple devices had been registered with different ID's and they all belonged to the same user(s) that a "common ID" could be created.
    I'm reluctant to post apple ID's in a public support forum, and would prefer to deal with this by private email.  or phone.

    Then contact Apple directly.
    This is a user to user technical support forum.  No one here has access to manage Apple ID's other than their own.
    There is no Apple presence here.

  • Possable Connection Lock Out, Help

    Hi recently My main PC died on me, annoying yes as I do not have the money for repairs, currently I am using one of two old redundant spare computers.
    This one is is a Parckard Bell with an intergrated Graphics Card, as I use mu PC for games that is a bit of a problem, my other one however would be able to run my chosen game, (Star Trek Online)
    And now comes the problem, the other PC is an old one, i only stopped using it because it had been internet locked for Internet Spam based Virus, virus i was unsucsesful in removing hence its Internet Locked status.
    Time passed and here we are, im sure the reason for this cry for help is becoming clear.
    After talking to an american friend of mine, he sugested calling my ISP and telling them about the Lock Out, he had said they shoud be able to unlock said computer and as time had passed.
    Removing the pesky virus should be much easier, most up to date Anti Virus programs should be able to clear anything from back in the early 2000.
    Now my problem is not exactly knowing who to call, or what can be done, any help getting my PC unlocked and healthy would be greatly apreciated.
    With Thanks
    Mathew Berry

    The only way an ISP could recognise a computer is by its IP address but this is usually hidden behind the router firewall. So all the ISP can usually see is your routers IP address or rather they know the ip address issued to you. So they could only really ban you of their network not an individual computer. Unless they somehow hacked into your router to stop it connecting to the infected pc (very doubtfull). If I were you I would format the pc and install your programs again, to get rid of the virus. Then have a go at connecting to your router. No way I can see that it will be banned.

    I have read your post on how your keyboard is producing random groups of letters every time you type, and I would be happy to help in this endeavor!
    Since you have successfully tested a secondary keyboard, I recommend following this document on Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 8). This resource should help you synchronize the keyboard correctly with the rest of the computer.
