HP Support Assistant Not Finding Updates

Over the past couple of months I have setup around 10 different Probook 450 G2 laptops. When I run HP Support Assitant to install driver and BIOS updates it always comes back that there are no updates available. Yet when I go to the product page for the notebook and compare the latest driver version to what is installed on the laptop, the current driver on the laptop is out of date. I have tried uninstalling HP Support Assistant both through the control panel and using the Microsoft Fix-It uninstaller and installed the latest version but the result is the same. This is very frustrating and time consuming when I have to manually download the updates for each piece of hardware. Is this a known issue? It would be great if this program could work as designed, but at this point I am considering just not using it at all. I experienced the same problem on a Probook 650 G1 as well.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the information Ashish!  When you try to install from here, what are your results?  Please elaborate on how it doesn't work for you.  Is it not installing, or does it install fine, just not work?

  • HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT IS DOWNLOADING UPDATES BUT NOT INSTALLING THEM

MY LAPTOP MODEL:HP Pavilion 15-e016tx Notebook PCI UNINSTALLED THE CURRENT HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT AND REINSTALLED IT BUT THE PROLEM IS NOT RECTIFIED.CAN ANYONE SUGGEST SOLUTION??

    Hi  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15-e016tx Notebook  and the HP Support Assistant not working correctly. Here is a link to troubleshoot the HP Support Assistant. Sometimes the updates have been completed already. So I would ignore the updates. If you are running Virus Protection program I would try to disable it and then try the updates. Here is a link to put the Notebook in Safe Mode. Then you can try running the HP Support Assistant. Sometimes that helps. I hope this helps you. Thanks.

  • HP Support Assistant not installing power2go update

    Hi all
I have a week old hp envy and i have just recieved a new update for power2go the support assistant downloads the update but when it goes to install i get an x and it tells me to click next but no reason as to why it hasnt installed the update.
    Any ideas please

Sorry you're having problems with your PC.  Since you mention an update I'd recommend starting with a system restore (not recovery) that returns your system to a point in time when it was working properly.
Click HERE for how to perform a system restore if you need assistance.   If HPSA works after the restore you can attempt to update it again.  Hopefully the update will load and run correctly this time.
If a system restore and re-update do not successfully remedy the issue then you may want to uninstall and reinstall the HPSA.  If you need assistance with that let us know here on the forum.

Uninstall HP support assistant from Control Panel. After uninstallation completes, make sure you restart the computer. Do not avoid restarting the computer at any cost.
Once restarted, download and install the updated HP support assistant from below link

  • Adobe application manager not finding updates on PSE11

There should be a camera raw 7.4 update available, but it is not being found and I am not sure what other updates are not being found.
In addition I did a manual download of Adobe Patch Installer and when it was launched got the following message in the UPDATES pop up:
         > Error loading Updater workflow
I suspect this may be the root cause of the application manager not finding updates.
Any suggestions on how to get this Updater workflow to load?

FYI - I did an un-install and re-install of PSE11 and it looks like that has worked as the system is now recognizing available updates :-)

  • HP Support Assistant not installing graphics updates

I am trying to update my graphics driver through the HP Support Assistant, as it tells me that there is an update to it. It goes through the process of downloading the update, but it doesn't instal. I have already tried uninstalling the support assistant with Microsoft Fixit and reinstalling. I even ran the assistant as Administrator to see if it was a permissions issue. Unfortunately the driver page for my computer (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-110-000-Desktop-PC-series/5359000/model/5365304/drivers) does not have the new one 10.18.10.3621Ap1/sp67247.
Do I need to delete my old graphics driver first? Is there a place where I can just direct download it and install myself? Is there a location where the Support Assistant downloads it to that I can get it from there? Any help that isn't simply "Uninstall and Reinstall" would be greatly appreciated.
Included are pictures of the Support Assistant and what is happening.

To ensure your HP Support Assistant software is functioning correctly, I recommend re-installing the original software and hardware drivers that first came with your computer. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8). To update the newly installed software, please follow this resource on Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8).
I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8).
Should the problem continue, I suggest performing a backup and recovery of your operating system. This can be done by following the steps in this resource on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8). This should return your system back to factory defaults.

  • HP Support Assistant not working after update

Hello, I have had problems with HP Support Assistant ever since the latest update. Now, upon opening it, it says that has encountered a serious problem and must close. Hi @parjinder82 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue of the Beats Audio not working correctly since you did the update for Windows 8.1 on your HP ENVY dv6t-7200 Notebook. Here is a document to check some settings that might be and issue with the software.
Sometimes the updates have not completely finish. I recommend restarting the Notebook as if there are some updates that have not gone through this will finish them.
You could check what is installed by checking here:
    1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
    2. Select Playback devices
    3. Right click Speakers
    4. Enable it and set as Default
    5. Click Apply/Ok
You might benefit from this document on Windows updates and sound issues.

  • Hp support assistant not opening

I have a hp pavilion g6 which  came with windows 7 and windows 8 installed. Everything was good. About 2 months ago I updated to windows 8.1, and that is where the problems began... First, hp support assistant does not open now. I have an icon in the bar, and an icon on the desk top. Neither will open hp support assistant. I have gone to Updates to make sure I have the last drivers, and every thing is supposedly up to date. The reason I need hp support assistant is to see why I am constantly having to restart to get and stay online... Microsoft says it is not windows 8.1, yet if you go to their boards, I am not the only one with the problem.. If I bring my computer back from sleep, I have to restart to get online. If I am online for 10 to 30 mins, I have to restart to get online.. I have had to restart and type this message 3 times already and really need so help. First I need hp support assistant to work, then I will figure out why i can't stay online. Microsoft wants $75 to $150 to figure out the problem with no guarentees they can figure it out.. Is some one out there smarter than their salesmen/techs. HELP! please, am becoming dissillusioned with hp, microsoft and the whole mess.

    Chitex,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
I am sorry you are having problems.  The choice to Upgrade the Operating System is a voluntary one -- and it is a more difficult journey for some than for others.  It appears your system is less cooperative than you would like.
If the HP Support Assistant you have installed now does not work properly, then it might help to remove it remove it and start with a fresh copy:
Windows key+ X> F (Opens Programs and Features) > scroll down, find, Uninstall HP Support Assitant
After the removal is complete, Restart / Reboot the computer and log in
Download and Install a new copy of the HPSA program:

  • HP Support Assistant not downloading and installing

Hi, I got a brand new ZBook 15 G2 a few days ago, everything seems to work OK except for the HP software that came with it, which I find both ironic and frustrating. I've tried downloading the updates and installing on two occasions, no luck. Windows Updates work fine, along with my other software's updates, so it's not my connection or internet related. No matter what I do (selecting all, just one, restarting), I keep getting the below even after it seemed to have downloaded the updates:
BTW, I think it is poor design not to show the user how much of the download has been downloaded, a progress bar doesn't cut it, one needs to see a percentage or better yet, something like "25.6 of 157 MB downloaded", preferably with the time elapsed so that you can gauge how long it's going to take. Or just give us the links to the updates so we can download it ourselves.
Is HP Support Assistant required, or can I uninstall it? At this stage it's not serving any purpose other than taking up space on my PC and annoying the hell out of me. I apologise for my negative tone, but I didn't expect to struggle with software coming from a reputable company like HP, especially after paying premium bucks for my ZBook.
    Regards,
    Will

    Hi Will,
You can either uninstall it completely from Control Panel & then reinstall to check if the problem was with the HP support assistant software version installed in your laptop:
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6978815&swItemId=ob_144416_1&swEnvOid=405...
    Else from here:
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/pl...
    Or
Completely uninstall it, use your HP support site to get all all the latest versions of drivers & softwares.
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6978815&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4059
As far as I see it, HP support assistant helps me to chat with the Technical support automatically and nothing else. For everything else I use my support page.
If you're not uninstalling it, I suggest you change the settings of it to "Notify" of any update and NOT allow it to install anything automatically.

  • HP Support Assistant not functioning.

I have a Touchsmart 600-1050, Windows 7 (64-bit), upgraded to version 4. The HP Support Assistant is not working. My system doesn't show on it when I open it up. I've gone to HP's website to download the latest update and it will go through the normal downloading procedure, I'll accept the terms then hit next and then I get this message "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update. Update has been cancelled. (1602)." What does this mean? Why don't I have the "minimum requirements and how do I get them so I can get this update?

    Hello kwazywabbit_88:
Good thing I did not upgrade my version 3 software. Upgrade has some issues. Now we have to find what mistakes were made on upgrading. I have to study this a bit. If I could send you my HP Sopport Assistant I would. I do not know if orginal software was erased during your upgrade to version 4.  I am going to read the directions on upgrading. My computer is also HP Touchsmart 600-1050. If d drive was is not effected in upgrade you can unistall it first then reinstall it from Orginal software on D drive using recovery manger. The old version will update itself on its own. I will be back going to home page now. Did you check mark the right bit system Windows 7 64bit or 32 bit on top of update page? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4007...
This is the correct one to download :
    2011-11-11 , Version:6.1.12.1, 55.15M
This package contains the HP Support Assistant application for the supported desktop models and operating systems. This update is a maintenance release.
Found on this page under software(28)  :   http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4007...
Note: PC Tune up still has issues Microsoft Disk Defragmeter does not work from HP Support Assistant so leave that box blank. Goto accessories Select System Tools and Click on Disk Defragmeter there in stead. Rest of HP Support Assistant works as far as I can tell. You are welcome please click kudos if this resolves your issue frrw.

  • HP support assistant not working

    Hi,
I have a HP ENVY 15 notebook PC. I purchased it in nov 2013, currently installed windows 8 single language.
I had never used the HP simple pass in past. When I tried using it recently, it crashes as soon as I try to open it. Upon opening the HP support assistance window, I am not able to do anything in that window, I have to close it by calling the task manager. I am not able to install any update, there are several updates available but I am not able to perform any action, not even able to close the window.
Please suggest if there is anyway this problem could be solved.
    Thanks in advance

    @DavidDeBord
If it is not behaving on your system, uninstall it.  Uninstalling it does no harm to your system and it is not necessary to the functioning of your computer.  I find it to be a useless piece of software and have even seen it brick some computers.  Should you wish to reinstall it, your decision.  When it is working properly, it has merit but it may be problematic on your system especially running Windows 8 for some unknown reason.
