HP Support Assistant: Tune Up: endless loop on step 2

In running the second step of Tune Up in HP Support Assistant---Microsoft Disk Defragment---the little circle goes round and round, even after a fully day, and never stops; it seems obviously 'hung up'; any suggestions on how to remedy this?

I have the exact same problem.  I have uninstalled hp support assistant, restarted and tried again but it never goes through the defrag step.  Then the next time I start hp support assistant if I look on the settings the defrag option is no longer even on the menu.  I see your question was asked in December of last year.  Has there been a resolution?  It used to work fine so I don't understand what happened.

  • HP Support Assistant Tune up and Health Analysis

I am becoming exasperated by regular failures reported during  the monthly HP Support Assistant Tune up or Health Analysis on my HP Pavillion Slimline Desktop.     Usually the display disappears before I can make a screen grab.     However today I managed the following:
So why is the health analysis failing?      I am not sure whether any relevant diagnostic reports are placed on my computer.     If they are produced, then I don't know where to find them.
Or is it that I have a corrupt/out-of-date version of the Support Assistant software?
Or is there some other explanation?
I'd be grateful for any illumination.     Thanks.

    Brian, welcome to the forum.
I can't give you any good explanation for the problems that you are experiencing.  It is most likely a glitch in the software.  I have had problems very similar while using Windows Update.  The updates don't install for no apparent reason.
Here is the Official Website for HPSA.  I suggrest downloading and installing the lastest version.  You should uninstall the current version before beginning.  I would appreciate hearing the outcome.

  • Support Package uprade in endless loop

    Hello experts,
we have a SP upgrade (from ECC level 10 to SP-level 16) running in a queue that is getting imported via SPAM (version 36). The import has been running for more than 24 hours, is this normal or did I hit an endless loop?
I noticed it has been running (and still is) in one phase only
    for ages:
    "INFORM SAP-SYSTEM OF TP TERMINATION"
In the log files I can see this warning:
Background job RDDIMPDP could not be started or terminated abnormally
Looking around in this forum I think I've found the solution, I have to reschedule the background job RDDIMPDP.
But my problem is that am running in downtime-minimized mode in SPAM and I cannot logon to sap system anymore, it gives me a syntax error if I try to. How can I cancel this SPAM import, can I somewhere kill processes, or should I just restart the SAP application server??
Can you please, please advise? Your help is really appreciated!
    Manfred

    Hi,
If you are getting Syntax error for every Txn. then u can't do anything expect Restore.
I faced same problem some days before & resolved by restoring the backup.
Also in my case  the exact problem is the wrong value of parameter rdisp/msvsrv_internal & I reset it to default value 0 & next time my patch is upgrade successfully.

No. It has nothing to do with warranty status. It will work even if the warranty has expired. The only thing that must be available is updates for your notebook.
Uninstall the current verfsion of HP Support Assistant that is on your notebook.
You can download the operating system appropriate version for your notebook at the following web document.

  • I keep getting a (false) notification from HP Support Assistant: low disk space on C drive?

Hi, this morning upon starting up my computer the magnifying glass was hovering over the HP Support Assistant icon and usually that means it is checking for updates etc... but I noticed it turned into a yellow exclamation mark so I clicked on it and opened up HP Support Assistant. The exclamation mark was now in the "updates and tune-ups" and said there were "recommended messages available." Upon clicking this the exclamation is now on the HP messages tab and upon clicking that I am taken to a notification that says: "Low Disk Space on Primary Drive C:" So I click on it to find out more information and it says that I am running out of free disk space on my C drive and that I need to perform a disk cleanup etc...
I went to My Computer to see just how in jeopardy I was in of running out of space on my C drive. To my amazement it stated that I still had 1.27 TB of 1.35 TB available and have only used 6% of my space...
I tried emptying my recycle bin, clearing my cache, doing an actual disk cleanup, and restarting to no avail, the magnifying glass comes back after restart and the notification returns telling me that I am low on disk space in the C drive...
I have come to the conclusion that this must be a false notification but I have no idea how to get rid of it...it isn't a huge issue as it doesn't impair my usage on the computer, however, it is kind of annoying to keep seeing this notification...
Is there any way to get rid of this notification?

    Hello @blackrosevain,

  • Withdraw to bank account puts me in endless loop...

I'm trying to withdraw PayPal funds to my bank account, but trying to do so starts a series of steps that put me in an endless loop.  When I choose to withdraw money and enter the amount, I get the error "Sorry, but we need more information.  Please withdraw money on our Classic site instead."  So I follow the link provided to the classic site and try to withdraw again and I get a security check "Verify your account.  We don't recognize the device you're using.  To continue withdrawing money, please verify your account."  I choose to receive the automated phone call, receive the call, enter the code and get the message "Your account is verified!  Thanks for verifying your account.  You can now withdraw money."  When I click the "Continue" button it asks me to log in again (I'm already logged in).  I log in again and get two links to "Log out" and "My Account".  I choose "My Account" and I'm right back where I started.  I can do this over and over with identical results.  I've tried it with both Chome and Internet Explorer, same results.  I can't figure out of PayPal is specifically designed not to let people withdraw their funds, or I'm just experiencing incompetent web site design.  Considering both the online help and phone support reference menu items that are no longer there or have been renamed, I'm guessing that "attention to detail" isn't a real high priority at PayPal. So does anyone have any suggestions how how I might get past this endless loop and transfer my funds? Thanks much...

Yep, did all that.  Tried Chrome and Internet Explorer.  (IE is always the fallback... for 22 years in the corporate world we were required to only use IE.  So I have a completely vanilla IE installed to test things when I have any issues.)  Your message did give me an idea though, and I tried Safari on my iPad.  My iPad has NEVER been on Paypal.  Same loop.  It almost looks like my "verification" (the phone call thing) isn't being saved on Paypal's system, or the "new" and "Classic" Paypal systems don't talk to each other correctly or some other oversight.  Hopefully someone in customer service will be able to flip a bit on my account and get it working correctly. Thanks for the suggestion...

  • Locked out of all Adobe CC apps by endless loop of sign in screens

I updated all my CC apps:Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge this morning, using the CC updater.  All appeared to go well with the downloads and installs, but now I can't open any of these because I get a pop up requiring me to sign in with my Adobe ID, and that screen just repeats in an endless loop.  Help!

Just got through a chat with Adobe support.  The solution was to go to the Program Data Folder for Adobe: %ProgramData%/Adobe, and rename the SIStore folder to SIStore_old.  Some file or files in this had presumably become corrupted, and forcing a re-creation of the files and folder set things right again.

  • HP Support Assistant not functioning.

I have a Touchsmart 600-1050, Windows 7 (64-bit), upgraded to version 4. The HP Support Assistant is not working. My system doesn't show on it when I open it up. I've gone to HP's website to download the latest update and it will go through the normal downloading procedure, I'll accept the terms then hit next and then I get this message "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update. Update has been cancelled. (1602)." What does this mean? Why don't I have the "minimum requirements and how do I get them so I can get this update?

    Hello kwazywabbit_88:
Good thing I did not upgrade my version 3 software. Upgrade has some issues. Now we have to find what mistakes were made on upgrading. I have to study this a bit. If I could send you my HP Sopport Assistant I would. I do not know if orginal software was erased during your upgrade to version 4.  I am going to read the directions on upgrading. My computer is also HP Touchsmart 600-1050. If d drive was is not effected in upgrade you can unistall it first then reinstall it from Orginal software on D drive using recovery manger. The old version will update itself on its own. I will be back going to home page now. Did you check mark the right bit system Windows 7 64bit or 32 bit on top of update page? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4007...
This is the correct one to download :
    2011-11-11 , Version:6.1.12.1, 55.15M
This package contains the HP Support Assistant application for the supported desktop models and operating systems. This update is a maintenance release.

Note: PC Tune up still has issues Microsoft Disk Defragmeter does not work from HP Support Assistant so leave that box blank. Goto accessories Select System Tools and Click on Disk Defragmeter there in stead. Rest of HP Support Assistant works as far as I can tell. You are welcome please click kudos if this resolves your issue frrw.

  • HP Support Assistant - Uninstalled and Reinstalled - Now it won't Work at all!

My HP Support Assistant was sticking on Creating Restore Point.   Well, I followed your instructions for this that was posted in numerous other threads and uninstalled HP Support Assistant and re-installed it, and now it won't do anything.  It opens up and the NEXT button is not highlighted so if I click on it nothing happens...it's totally worthless now.  What can I do to make it work again???  HELP!! (see image below - all I can do is minimize, enlarge or close that screen.  NEXT button does nothing!)
My computer is only 1 year old and I run Windows 8 - 64 bit.  Never had a problem with it before, but tried the Tune up and it was stuck on the restore point, so I followed your instructions, re-booted after un-installing and uninstalling, now it won't do anything.   I also tried restoring HP Support Assistant from the Recovery Manager and it's still doing the same thing - nothing.  How am I supposed to get my updates now???
    I have an HP Pavilion p6 2310.  I haven't installed Windows 8.1, it's just Windows 8.  Thank you.

Welcome back to the HP Community Forum.
I should think if the program were OK that it would show up where it belongs.  Smiling.
Assuming the Tune-up is still running and you have not yet killed it off, I suggest you do so.
Stop your other programs: email, browser, games, you-know: the easy to control and stop "stuff".
Right-Click in your Taskbar to open the Task Manager >
    tab Processes >
If HPSA shows up in the list, then
    Right-Click > Select End Task
If HPSA does not show up in the Task Manager list, then
tab Performance > At bottom of page > Select Open Resource Monitor >
tab Overview > Click on Description to sort Alphabetically >
Scroll down and find processes containing description "HP Support Assistant" >
Click the box at the beginning of the HPSA line(s) to select the process(es) >
Scroll back up to the top of the menu >
Right-Click and Select > End Process
    Next:
    Create a Restore Point:
Restore Point XP  OR  Create a Restore Point – Win7  OR  Create a restore point Win8
Restart / Reboot the computer and log in

    To fix:
The following document covers the "HPSA is not where it belongs" scenario.  Open the document and search for "programs and features".  Assuming your Recovery Manager is intact, this may work to untangle the mess.  After that, you might be able -- if you want -- to update the program.
Troubleshooting HP Support Assistant (Windows 7)
    Edits 17-mar-2015
This is the Windows 8 version of the document.  It advises that you simply install a new version over the top of the old without first uninstalling the older version.  I assume you then remove the installed program >> then install a final clean and fresh copy of the program.  Maybe.  Read it.

  • Library File endless loop...$100 to fix the problem

I created a Library file and inserted it on two pages. now I get this endless loop of "update" and nothing gets updated. I will pay the person $100 bucks if they can figure out the TRUE answer to what is going on and can fix it! Dreamweaver support says this is NOT a software issue and they can't help. Why not, no idea...but let me know who can fix this!

I never use library items.  I much prefer server-side includes.
Without seeing your code, I'm guessing
         a) your library item is corrupted and/or
         b) the file's containing the library item have code validation errors which DW cannot reconcile.
