Hp system insight manager-device discover issue

Hi,
I have recently installed hp System Insight Manager 7.4. But I can't discover any hp device. The system did not respond to SNMP. when discover any hp device then System Insight Manager showing error:
Major: The system cannot be identified properly for HP SIM to manage;
unable to get one or more of the following: model, serial number or
unique identifier (UUID). For management processors, verify the
system is running the latest firmware. For Linux based operating
systems, you must have dmidecode installed, enable the
PermitRootLogin and PasswordAuthentication in sshd, and use root
sign-in credential. For HP-UX, verify the sign-in credential. For
Windows, check if WMIMapper is configured correctly on the CMS and
              verify the sign-in credential.
Any ideas on a fix for this?
Thank you,
Nahid

I know there might be issues with cimserver and different versions of SMI-S solutions. SAN-OS 3.2 uses 1.1 and 3.3 and above uses 1.2. The changes are considerable and can make some SMI-S system not work well. I don't know if NX-OS is supported yet.
I don't use HP SIM so I really can't say for sure but its worth checking on what is supported.

  • Issue while installing HP System Insight Manager on Windows Server 2008

    Hi everybody,
as I wrote in the subject, I'm having trouble while trying to update my HP SIM vers. 6.1 to HP vers. 7.1 on my server running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP1.
    I encounter the errore message:
"HP System Insight Manager Installer detected an unsopported operating system..."
How can I fix this problem?
is it OS really unsopported or Do I have to perform some upgrade before?
is it because of my Microsoft SQL server version? I have the 2005 ver. Do I need the 2008 one?
in anycase HP SIM vers. 6.1 runs with no problem.
    Thanks

It appears that you have a commercial LaserJet in an enterprise enviornment.  It would be best to post in the commercial LaserJet forums.

  • HP Systems Insight Manager - Database questions, what is this database for?

    Hello,
I am either missing this information completely in the Installation guide or it doesn't exist, but I am looking for details of the database that HP SIM needs to install.
-I assume this database will be used as a CMS?
-What information will this database be storing?
-If I have multiple HP servers, is it best to put this database on a remote dedicated database server? Will each HP machine that has SIM installed be pointing to this database?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
New to this site so here we go with an issue on HP Systems Insight Manager v7.4.0
System Insight Manager (SIM Server)  receives alerts from a second server when the server restarts but no other alerts although it should be receiving all alerts.
When looking at the management agent on the second server I try and send a test trap and although it is sent it is not received on the SIM Server.
I do get alerts on the SIM server (and receive an email which has been set to send for all alerts) when the second server is restarted.
As I have set all alerts to be logged I should be getting spammed by the second server but it's all very quiet.
Any ideas anyone as I am stumped?

  • HP Systems Insight Manager - Disk Alerts Not being received

    Hello,
I'm not receiving any disk alerts in HP SIM 7.4.0
If I open HP SIM and click on the server that has a disk issue it shows that there is an issue with the disk and has an yellow triangle next to Smart Array controller which is good.
However i am not getting an email alert for it.  If I go to Events - Automatic Event Handling - Manage Tasks I have All Events selected as I have only added one server so far so should get alets for everything.
I only get an alert when restarting the server.  I should get an email to let me know that there is a problem with the array on the member server?

  • HP Systems Insight Manager SNMP Traps not being received

I found the following on HP help....is it any use?Why am I not receiving notification when there is a SNMP Authentication trap received? Solution: The default setting for Enabling Trap Handling in SNMP Extensions is Disabled (Not Processed). The reason for this is because typically, a system can be set up with an incorrect community string or an incorrect community string is set in HP Systems Insight Manager, which results in an Authentication Failure trap to be sent to the management server each time a request is made to the system. This results in many traps being logged. To change this setting to Processed (Enabled), complete the following steps:Open HP Systems Insight Manager (http://machinename:280).Log in as a user with full configuration rights.Select OptionsEventsSNMP Trap Settings. • SAP mibs and Systems Insight Manager (SIM)

I'm trying to get our CCMS to send SNMP traps to our SIM (Systems Insight Manager) server. The SAP side of the setup is pretty straight forward. The SIM side, however, is not so clean.
Hopefully someone has had experience with this, and can either point me at some documentation / blogs that I've not yet been able to find, or just let me know where I've gone wrong.
    The SIM server is 64bit Windows 2003, with SIM v 5 SP5.
The base mib pack is 7.70.
I've put the mibs provided by SAP on the SIM server in the mibs sub-folder.
I then ran "mcompile SAP_R3_MIB.txt" at a command prompt and it generated "SAP_R3_MIB.cfg".
Next I ran "mxmib SAP_R3_MIB.cfg" which said it completed successfully.
Yet, when I go into "Options -> Events -> SNMP Trap Settings.." the SAP_R3_MIB is not listed.
I have brought other non-SAP mibs in this way in the past. Is there something special I'm missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I am trying to send SNMP alert from Solution Manager to Tivoli TEC. On solution Manager side log files shows that trapsend was triggered and there was no error. However I do not have any visibility on TEC side which is managed by other team. All i do is when I perform test , i asked them to check if they received anything and they say NO.
I had given them MIBS provided by SAP to TEC team. I don't know what they have done with that but looking at your blog I can tell that you are experienced on the receiving side.
Can you help me to understand the steps they should be performing with MIBS which I gave them. Do they need to change.txt file to .mib as you did. Also what is the way to check if they are receving anything or not? any tool or command at OS level also ?
If you have any document which you created based on your experience, it will be great. you can send it to me at [email protected]

  • LMS 4.2 Device Discovering issue

    HI All
I have experience in LMS 3.2 and my company asked me to install and LMS 4.2. I have all documents about LMS 4.2 but it is taking time to read and doing as per document. I started discovery but the problem is last two days it is running and finds 50 % of devices only and still the staus is running. The Network topology is 2 CORE switch ( Discovered) , connecto to 2 Distribute switch and Server form switch ( Discovered) Access Switches are connected to the Distribute switch some are Discovered most of not found. Some Access switches are connected to neighbor Access Switches it is not directly connected to Distribued Switch.
Please advise normally how long will take for discovering 70-80 devices ? How to trouble shoot for non discovering devices ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Abdul Hameed.

If a device is missing or isn't added, it could be due to incorrect credentials. However you still can add it manually from DCR.
You can use the Adding Devices to add devices, device properties or attributes, and device credentials to the Device and Credential Admin.
Go to the CiscoWorks home page and select Inventory > Device Administration > Add / Import / Manage Devices.
For more details on how to add devices, please check :

  • X230 Win 8.1 Power Management Device Driver Issue

    Hi,
Fresh Win 8 build, in place upgrade to 8.1. Then all Lenovo tools updated and latest Lenovo compatability package installed.
This device is not detected properly. I believe it is a Power Manager driver issue (based on an older post with the same problem, but no resolution posted).

    Type: 2330-A59
    Device instance path: ACPI\LEN0078\5&2890D699&0

I've tried the typical deletion of the device and re-run the PM driver install package (latest from Lenovo.com). No change. The device is listed back in Device Manager as an "Unknown" device.
Anyone out there know the solution? I hope it is something I am just over looking.

    Solved!

Found the answer. It is NOT the PM Driver.

I have enabled the Https(Cimserver) using a dummy ssl certificate. Still my central management server (HP SIM) doesn't recognizes the switch to be a Storage Switch.
when i run the identification query, it stops at " CIM_RegisteredProfile"

I know there might be issues with cimserver and different versions of SMI-S solutions. SAN-OS 3.2 uses 1.1 and 3.3 and above uses 1.2. The changes are considerable and can make some SMI-S system not work well. I don't know if NX-OS is supported yet.

duplicate question - can I gently mention a point? Whilst we naturally
understand that you may need information/help in a hurry, asking the
same question in multiple forums dilutes the answers you get, and makes
more work for those of us who have to read them; it would help if you
    could avoid this in future.
