I have been working on this for past 15 days but I did not get any resolution for this question. That is my "HP Total Care Advisor is not working or stopped working". Is there a possible resolution apart from performing a recovery?

What is the model of your computer and which OS?

  • Cannot Update HP TOTAL CARE SETUP

Hi there, A little while ago I was reccommended to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate by one of my friends.
I have had my computer for some time and I would like to Upgrade it a bit.
I was told to use Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to make sure I was compatible before switching.
I scanned to see if my computer was compatible and It was except for one negative point. I had to update my HP Total Care Setup.
It had a link which could update it but when I went there it only showed me the Microsoft front page.
There is no way I can update and I have been trying to find an answer ALL morning.

Total Care is the old name / version / program for the HP Support Assistant.
No worries.  Just remove the old Software from the computer and you can install the new program later after the Update / Upgrade.

  • Service Request tracking in Total Care

When doing a demo of the Total Care portal, two questions were asked that I need details on.
    1. When the customer begins working with Total Care will the prior SR's opened by the customer on a device be shown, or only the ones created after the Total Care contract is active.
    2. How long will the information on the SR's be maintained for viewing in the portal?  As long as the device is active on the network or do they drop off after a prescribed period.
    gary

    Hi Gary,
Below are the answers to your questions:
    1. When the customer begins working with Total Care will the prior SR's opened by the customer on a device be shown, or only the ones created after the Total Care contract is active.
Answer: Prior SRs created by the customer for a particular device will be shown as long as same customer who created the SRs is logged into the portal and contract for the that device is active.
    2. How long will the information on the SR's be maintained for viewing in the portal?  As long as the device is active on the network or do they drop off after a prescribed period.
Answer : The information on SRs for a particular device will be maintained and can be viewed as long as contract for that device is active. The SR will continue to be shown even if the device is not on the network.
    Thanks,
    Jawaid.

  • HP - Supp - Total Care - Forum - Desktop - TouchSmart (TS) - Hrd restart w/out pwr cycle on IQ8xxt-

    Greetings,
While the cause for this post is the sole HP TouchSmart (TS) at this computing site, an IQ816t, this post addresses the case, and thus applies to the IQ8xxt and any other similar series case.
Generally, to restart a PC, a user may attempt a soft or execute a hard reboot. A soft reboot may be attempted with the 3-finger salute. A hard reboot is executed with either a power cycle, or, on a traditional case, depressing the Reset/Restart button/switch.
This TS runs mostly Windows Vista SP2 (WinNT6.0.6002SP2). When running this OS, the system hangs periodically. The salute is to no avail. How may a hard restart be executed without a power cycle, similar to depressing the Reset button on a traditional case?
    Thank you all in advance.
    Best regards,
    “kennymccormick”

    Greetings,
I was hoping for any knowledgeable response, from either HP or the public.
That a HP staff member responded indicates that HP does allocate resource to monitoring the HP Support Total Care Forums. It must just be that the allocated resource is extremely limited, given that the response was posted almost 7 weeks after the query.
While I should appreciate a response and give thanks, in this case, I simply cannot. I really do not want to come across as a jerk, yet the response was so… <exasperated sigh> In summary, the question was whether a hard restart may be executed on a TS8xxt case system without power cycling, similar to depressing the Reset button on a traditional case. The response provided was to, well, power cycle. That was just unhelpful.
    Best regards,

  • HP Advisor Dock - Customize Width and Scroll no longer working.

    Hi there,
I've seen quite a few posts about not liking the Advisor Dock because it takes up space but I on the other hand quite like it. I put a lot of my shortcuts and icons there because it saves space and I could scroll between different icons just by swiping.
Without going into too much detail, my HP advisor just updated itself and now the slide to scroll feature doesn't work. it just picks up an icon and drags it.
Is there any way I can reenable this ? is there a config file somewhere?
I noticed they changed the size of the bar as well, possibly to fit their new lines of products but I'd like to resize it back to the way it was also.
    Can you help?

    Hi eg1978
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are having issues with your two finger scrolling. I have a couple of things for you to try. This HP document Using and Configuring the TouchPad has a section on Turning individual gestures off and on and make sure that the two finger scrolling is enabled. If that does work then reinstall your Synaptics TouchPad Driver.

  • Remove HP advisor dock

Every time I power on my HP G56 laptop, the HP Advisor Dock appears.
I haven't been able to find out how to uninstal this and as I have no use for this, do not want it appearing on the desktop each time on start up.
How can I be rid of this permanently as I can't see it serves any useful purpose.
    Thanks

  • Recovery stops at HP total Care registration

I used recovery disks I created when I first bought my Pavillion dv 2315nr. All went perfect until the registration page HP Total Care came up. (it is step 1 of 3). When I fill out the page and try to advance I get a red warning on the page "Please provide required information marked  with red arrows". The info marked with red arrows is the Email address I entered. I even tried entering different Email addresses (old ones) but still get the above red message after I click on "next". Please help.

I'm also having the same problem with my HP Notebook running on Vista x64. When I use HP Help and Support it launches Notepad filled with characters. The same thing happens when I launch Activation Assistant for Microsoft Office 2007. The Notepad opens and display some characters. I reinstalled the HP Help and Support from my Recovery Manager but did not solve the problem. I downloaded the utility from HP support site but my problem became worse. The HP Help and Support Customization disappeared. When I select some of the links on the Vista Help and Support (now without the HP customization), the Notepad still opens with the characters. By the way, when I reinstall the HP Help and Support during the process the Notepad also appears and display characters and the installation does not proceed until I close the Notepad.
I've searched for solution on several forums but found nothing.
Any help to resolve this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Total Care DB requirements or usage affect VM hardware configuration

A customer asked when reviewing the recommendations for the VM hardware requirements if the 200GB disk space includes space for the collector DB or if additional space needs to be allocated?  what is used by the Total Care collector to store the discovery, uploads and verification results.  Is the 200GB just referring to the necessary disk space for the Collector file?
    Gary Blandino

200GB is  the all inclusive  space needed for the system files/executables and storage for the collection.
    Thanks

  • What's the difference between SmartNet Total Care, and SmartCare?

    Has anyone here used SmartCare?
What was your experience like, and would you recommend it over SmartNet Total Care?

I can't answer about the customer experience of using Smart Care, but I can help provide some guidance on the differences between the two services.  Hope this helps.
Smart Net Total Care and Smart Care are both smart support services and both include Cisco’s award winning support, including technical support, hardware replacement, knowledge base access and OS upgrades.  There are three main differences—first line of support, size of the network and offer customization.
For first line of support—Smart Net Total Care support is provided directly through Cisco, the customer technical support is provided by the Cisco TAC.  Smart Care, on the other hand, is sold and supported through a qualified Cisco Partner, so the customer would get their first line of support from the partner (the partner can work with Cisco TAC if needed).
For targeted network environments—Smart Net Total Care has been designed to support large, dynamic networks.  It is able to support tens of thousands of devices.  Smart Care is targeted to mid-sized customers—from 10’s up to 1000’s of devices.
For customization—Smart Net Total Care is a defined service with a well-defined list of capabilities, which include technical support (TAC, OS updates, hardware Replacement and cisco knowledge base), and smart capabilities (installed base and contract management, alerts, device diagnostics).  Smart Care has a base level of capabilities, but the partner can choose to add specific features and functionality to meet their customer’s needs.  The base functionality includes the technical support and smart capabilities of SNTC, and also has additional features designed for smaller networks—monitoring, disaster recovery, and technology assessments.
Bottomline, you will need to evaluate the Smart Care offer that your partner provides and compare it with what Smart Net Total Care can offer to see which best meets your network and business needs.

  • Advisor Dock Icon Customization

    Hi, folks!
I have a new Pavillion dv6.  I love it! The Advisor Dock, however, is being stubborn.  I customize it the way I want, adding icons and removing them.  And that's terrific.  Until I restart my computer, when it resets itself.  Every time I turn my computer on, the dock goes back to its original configuration.  Any ideas?
    Thanks!

It was in the Desktop forum, and was moved to the Notebook one.

  • IPod Touch 3G w/ stopped working with car stereo/docking speakers

After I upgraded to OS 4, my iPod Touch 3g stopped working through the USB port of my car stereo (just says "reading" and never progresses from there). It also stopped working through the docking station (basically a large clock radio) that I bought for my living room -- it will recharge and play music through the speakers but the docking station and its remote can no longer control the music (can't advance to the next song or anything else), so I have to physically change things on the ipod itself.
I was told by Crutchfield (where I'd purchased the car stereo) that this was a known problem with Apple -- that with OS4, many of the devices that previous worked with iPods no longer worked, and that this would be resolved in a later version of the OS that would provide some backward compatibility. However, I can't find anything at all about this.
If anyone knows more information about this, or has a link to where I might be able to read more, I'd appreciate the info. I selected and installed both the (almost new!!) car stereo and docking station specifically because they allowed me to connect and control my iPod, and now I've lost that functionality and the $$ I put into those devices (over $300 total)!

I apologize for posting a bit early.  Found an Alpine manual online and i needed to set the AUX port to off.  They also recommended a reset of the Touch.  After doing these two things it is now working.  Maybe this will help someone else.

  • Car use:  dock output vs. headphone jack

I use my iPod extensively in my car - - through a cassette adapter, with sound from the headphone jack.
Am considering purchasing the Belkin Auto Kit for iPod w/ Dock Connector (dual charger plus sound from the dock port area). Would doing this - - and getting sound from the 'bottom' of the iPod - - provide significantly better sound than from the headphone jack?
    Thanks.

so i have my ipod plugged into the back (aux) portion of my deck, this cord feeds though and i plug my in my ipod through the headphone jack (only distortion comes at very high volumes). i have it set up this way so that i can use the ipod itself to select a song. now for the question: do they make a product that allows me to plug my ipod into my deck but use the conection at the bottom of the ipod and still use the ipod to select the music (thus getting charged while playing music without the use of the headphone jack)?
I hope this wasnt to jumbled.
(i had an actual ipod adapter and although the quality is good, attempting to actual select the specific song you want to hear is the biggest pain in the butt EVER, mainly b/c you must use your eck to select the song, the only way to listen to it is on a playlist, otherwise you might crash)
    thanks

  • Car Mode / Dock App

Forgive me if this has already been covered.
when I had my N8 i loved the car Mode app, i recently noticed a possible car mode for the lumia series
    but
is it only available when connected to the new nokia car charger the cr-200? i imagine that the app is already in the phone and access is only granted with the nfc tag on the holder.
is this function actually already available - will be available widely soon - or is it stupidly going to be restricted to access via official nokia car chargers???

NFC tag does not only contain web adress or instruction set for phone behavior. It is realistic to conceivethat it can also hold certain amount of data, including exclusive small app to transfer/install to the phone like the dock app here. The Nokia charging stand has a dedicated iddle screen app.I maybe mistaking here but for sure those accessories are not limitted physically to hold ``out of standard memory size`` nfc informations like the stickers or keychain style tag we see, or those feature app's are built in the newly updated ``nokia accessories`` settings of the phone.Yes My self is still having a N8 (car app installed) and my wife a lumia 920 and whish that the car ``dock app`will become an available stand alone app for every one. Nokia being out of phones OS may as well try to atract more customers to their other branded accesories with exclusive inovative content. We will see what futur hold...
