HP Touchpad Issues - HP ENVY 15t-q100 - Needs Reflashed to Function Properly -

I have the HP Slim Quad 100 Notebook with the HP Synaptics Touchpad.
The touchpad intermittently stops working correctly.  Sometimes it's so bad that it's unusable.
I have done a little research and I found that the driver is causing the Touchpad to detect clicks and touch when there is none.  I've confirmed this by looking at the real-time Pressure graph tool that measures Touch Pressure.
According to the Synaptics Pressure Graph tool (in the Synaptics folder, the red "Z" Icon [SynZMetr] is the name), the Touchpad is detecting pressure even when my hand is off the Touchpad altogether.  I suggest that anyone with this same issue confirm this themselves as well, during your time of random malfunction and sporadic movements.  You will see pressure in the pressure graph even when there is no contact with the touchpad.
My temporary solution:
Double click on the 'Reflash' folder in the Synaptics folder:
C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynReflash
After I reflash using this method, the issue is fixed immediately.  However, sometimes I have to do this on a daily basis!!!  What is the root issue and how can I fix it???
Other Troubleshooting:
I've reinstalled the newest driver a few times:
Current Version:
Synaptics Touchpad Driver -18.1.7.8 , Size: 187.8 MB  --  Oct 11, 2014
File name: sp66500.exe
^ This did nothing to solve the problem from re-occurring.

  • Why HP remove support for msata drives in the ENVY 15t - q100 ?

The previous models had msata support, but the ENVY 15t - q100 (the one with no dvd drive) has the space for a msata drive, even with the screw hole but they remove the slot from the board. This is a $900 laptop, why they did that?

  • Disable touch pad HP ENVY 15t-j000

How to quickly disable touchpad on HP ENVY 15t-j000?
I just got one of the newest Haswell notebook.  With older HP laptop touch pads there is a spot at the upper left corner to disable the touchpad.  With the latest Synaptic touchpad on the new ENVY 15t there is no keyboard or touchpad button to disable the touchpad when you are using a mouse.
    Please advice.

    Hi
The touchpads on some new notebooks do not have an on/off button go to control panel The touchpad itself does not have a dot or hardware switch toturn on/off. However, you can turn this function on and off from the control panel.
Let us know how it goes!

  • HP Envy 17334 Touchpad issues

I wanted to let you know these are the things my touchpad has been doing:
-Very sluggish when first logging in to the computer.
-Randomly opens up windows that the arrow hovers over but I don't click on.
    -Jumps around.
    -Makes the window half screen.
-And just now when I logged on the slight tap on the left side doesn't work anymore and I have to click it all the way for it to take action.  Last week the right click didn't work.
I have noticed that when you right click on the button on the lower right bar that looks like a index finger (says HP Control Zone when hovering over it) that if I go to Pointing Device Properties, then HP Control Zone Settings and click on Reset Devices, then click OK, that it worked just fine, but I have to do it EVERY time I log in to the computer, and then this last time when logging on, everything worked fine EXCEPT the left side light tap doesn't work: I have to click once hard instead of soft tap to get it to work when wanting to open up something.
I Googled problems people are having that are just like the ones I am having with the touchpad on the Envy and I have to say that this is quite frustrating and I'm scared I'll have the same results they have had, which with all of the things they tried -- only a few people seemed to have success with what troubleshooting techinques that were suggested to them.  Some have actually even exchanged and gotten brand new computers and then had the SAME PROBLEM!??  Is this because the touchpad is a relatively new design and not perfected?  I just bought this computer and like everything about it except obviously this problem -- A regular mouse works just fine, but I can't use a mouse most of the time because this computer will be used while travelling which I will be doing a lot of.  HELP!  If I send it in do be worked on will it even help as some of the people I've seen online are saying they are still experiencing problems.

  • HP Envy 15t k000 Battery Issues

I recenty got an HP Envy 15t k000 from HP home store. Customized to "4-cell 48WHr Lithium-ion Battery,"  I have been wondering if I upgraded from 41WHr to 48WHr I should be getting more battery life?
Can someone tell me how much is the difference in battery life? The upgrade to 48WHr was $10 more.
When I inserted the battery, it wasn't rigid in the place. It moves a little which I find annoying. (I guess its normal but if there ever is a new battery compatible for the model, the design fix would be appreciated).
Also, the battery's model is VI04 and I found it here on Hp website batteries page. So if 48WHr is VI04, which one is for 41WHr? Because VI04 is the only one campatible with HP Envy 15t k000.
Is there any extended battery (the big battery) for the mentioned model? Will there ever be one? It will be great if there is any extended battery for this model.

based on the specs, a 48 WHr battery will provide about 17% more energy than a 41Whr battery.  So if you currently get 90-minutes from a charge, the upgrade will provde an additional 15-min and stretch it to 105 under similar usage conditions.
Just multiple your current cycle by 0.17 to see how much time you would gain.

  • HP Envy 15t-J100 Nvidia Graphics card issue.

Hello, I recently bought a HP Envy 15t-j100. I was under the impression that it came with a NVIDIA Geforce GT 740m graphics driver ( even has the sticker on the laptop) and a HP Intel HD 4600 driver. However when I went to device manager and looked at the display drivers, the Nvidia driver was not there. The only driver that was there was the Intel HD one. I then decided to go to the nvidia website and download the latest driver, but that didn't work because it told me it couldn't continue due to imcompatibility. I'm confused, I have the sticker that tells me that I "have" the nvidia geforce graphics card, but in device manager I don't see it. Help!

  • Envy 15t (I7-4710HQ + Intel HD Graphics 4600) SSD Compatibility?

    Hi All,
I'm looking at purchasing the Envy 15t  i7-4710HQ Quad Core Processor + Intel® HD Graphics 4600.
When I try to select the 256GB SSD for the hard-drive, I get an error telling me that the Graphics chipset is not compatible with SSD and vice versa. Either I need to select a regular hard drive or change the graphics chipset which unfortunately would require me to change to a dual core 4510U processor which I'd prefer not to do.
    http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Laptops/HP-ENVY/G0T95AV?HP-ENVY-15t
I'm not too phased about buying the SSD from HP directly, I'm happy to add one in after the fact.
So, does anyone know if there is a definite incompatibility between the CPU / GPU and an SSD?
Additionally, is the 15t able to carry both an SSD and a regular hard drive?
I've seen the 15t-j000 being offered with both by default - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EWHJWLU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2TC87EJKQMY9O
Assuming the 15t above is able to run an SSD, does this mean I can buy the 15t above with a regular hard drive and add an SSD for my primary drive after I get it?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
The Envy 15t with Intel HD graphics card probably doesn't have a mSATA slot. That means if the 256GB SSD is a mSATA one you can't have it in your laptop. I think it's the setup for the laptop from amazon. There is a 240GB SSD plus a 1TB HDD which is most likely a 240GB mSATA SSD and a 2.5" 1TB hard drive because the laptop has nVidia vga and also it's a 15.6" model with only one hard drive bay. Laptops with nVidia graphics chips definitely have a mSATA slot.
Yes, you can get the laptop with a hard drive and then upgrade it to a proper 2.5" solid drive.

If it is Windows 8 then you need to install the wireless button driver to return that function to your notebook.
You probably need to reinstall the Realtek Card reader driver and the Intel USB 3.0 host controller driver software driver to clear the missing device driver issues.

My envy 15t won't power up and shows no LED lights at power cord connection.  I've tried the hard restart and still nothing.  I tested the AC power adapter with a multimeter and it is working.

    Hello @fisher329 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your ENVY 15t does not power up.
If you have confirmed the adapter is functional you have an internal power problem. This could be the internal power connector or the motherboard.
For this you will need to contact HP Phone Support for service options. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.

  • Boot from mSATA drive on HP ENVY 15t-j100

I purchased an HP ENVY 15t-j100 with a 1TB drive and 16GB RAM.  There is an avaialble mSATA slot in the user area so I purchased a CRUCIAL 240Gb mSATA drive with the intention of installing the WIN 8.1 OS and my programs on the solid state drive and use the slor (5400) hard drive for data.
I used the Recovery drive I created to get the OS on the mSATA - no problem.
It even boots up - but when I install the hard direve the system tries to boot from the spining drive - the BIOS shows that the Hard dirve is "in" Port 0 and the mSATA is Port 1 and there does not seem to be any what to change this so, after all the work and research it dies not seem like I can utilize the mSATA slot on this notebook.
Any ideas would be greatly apprecaited.

I have solved it by installing a third party bootloader on the main hard drive. The hard drive must be connected via USB to a computer (even the same laptop with the mSATA in as I did). I have used Bootice to install a bootloader called Plop .
    http://www.pendriveapps.com/bootice-partition-flash-drive-edit-boot-sector/
Then put the hard drive back in and set the mSATA in Plop as the boot drive. Here is some info:
    http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager/thebootmanager.html#b4
I couldn't make it work but then I went to "Profiles" - "Linked partitions", picked the right partition, confirmed it and it worked.  However, I don't have the laptop anymore and can't say exactly what to do.

  • Envy 15t-3200 (Ivy Bridge) WLAN PCI Card Replacement

Hello everyone! I just had a quick question - it's rather specific, so I'm just posting to see if anyone happens to have experience with this. Basically, I'm looking to replace the built-in WLAN adapter in my Envy 15t-3200 (CTO). Right now, it has the stock Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 WLAN adapter. This adapter isn't bad by any means, but I'm in the process of upgrading a few parts in my laptop (SSD, RAM) to give it a little refresh, and I'd like to see if I can replace the WLAN adapter as well. The one that I'd like to replace it with is the Intel 7260-Wireless AC adapter (with bluetooth). Hardware-wise, I think everything will work out great. However, the one hesitation I have is the rumored WLAN "whitelist" that may be hardcoded into some HP laptops. So, if anyone has successfully replaced their WLAN adapter in an Ivy Bridge gen. Envy 15t (especially the 3200 CTO), I'd really like to hear about it!
TL;DR: I want to replace the WLAN adapter in my Envy 15t-3200 (CTO, Ivy Bridge gen.) but I'm worried about whether or not the HP BIOS will allow me to boot up once I do.
Like I said, I'm not expecting this to be an easy-to-answer, straightfoward question. It's probably something that can only be answered by someone else who has tried the same thing. Anyways, I'll probably end up ordering the new WLAN card to try it out since I can send it back if it doesn't work. I'll post my results here if I end up going for it!
P.S. I did search the forums and found one other topic about this same issue: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/HE-Envy-15-2013-Network-Card-upgrade/m-p...
It seems like it ended up working for those users, but I think they're talking about a newer (Haswell gen.) Envy laptop. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies/reads this!
Edit: So I just noticed that the service/maintenance manual lists the WLAN module as an "end-user serviceable part," so it seems like this may work after all. I went ahead and ordered the part (from here), and I still plan on updating this post once I perform the switch.

    Hi,
I'm positive it will work. Intel Envy laptops probably don't have the whitelist because I have tried three different Intel wifi cards and all worked. One of them actually had a very old part number (Intel Ultimate 6300). Don't worry it will be ok.

  • Split x2 - Touchpad issue after upgrading to Windows 8.1

    Hello,
I bought this Split x 2 a week ago and it came with WIndows 8. Everything was working fine until I upgraded to WIndows 8.1. Now my Touchpad will freeze some times and I have to log out and log back in to my profile to unfreeze the touchpad other times I can get it to unfreeze by resetting the release touch screen buttom.
I called HP customer service and they said it was a Microsoft issue and transfer me to them. Microsoft said it was a hardware (HP) Issue and that i needed to go back to the store where I bought it
(BestBuy). I took it back yesterday to BestBuy and they gave me a knew one. I did the same thing and upgraded to Windows 8.1 and touchpad issues is back. So pretty sure is not a hardware issue.
    All windows updates are completed
I checked the Touchpad's Driver and it is up to date.
NOTE: I plugged a wireless mouse to my laptop and when the touchpad freezes the wireless mouse still works.
Does anyone know a fix for this issue? Everything else works great on the laptop is just very inconvenient when you are working and you have to log out to get your touchpat to work again.
Any help would be appreaciate it.

Well you gave me a great idea.  So the same thing happened to me, the install failed due to the driver signature.  I uninstalled the current driver, then turned off the feature that requires signed drivers and installed the driver.  Everything is working so far.... the only odd thing is it doesn't show the driver any where.  I am going to try a few other things BUT the mouse hasn't stopped working for a good half hour.

Just bought a new hp-envy 15t-3000, 64-bit few days ago. just started and keeps shutting down with blue screen. In HP Support Assistant it keeps showing that BIOS update not performed with cross in front. Don't know what to do? Is something wrong with hardware or software?
