HP touchpad movement extremely choppy

Hello. I am using an HP G60 laptop, and for the past couple weeks, movement with the touchpad has been extremely choppy. Most of the time diagonal movement works, but aside from that, the aforementioned problem still exists. I am not sure if this is a problem with Synaptics or what, but I would like to try and resolve this problem. Thank you in advance.

I called HP cuz I'm am having the same problem.  " Left TouchPad button "   After a very long wait I was told that it would cost me 269.00 to replace this little plastic button. That is more then the laptop is worth, or it's more then I paid for it. We have four HP laptops in this house. But you can bet I'll never buy another one. From now on HP can eat my shorts man!

  • Adobe Photoshop extremely choppy with latest Audigy2 ZS driv

I recently installed the latest SB Audigy 2 ZS drivers for Windows XP. If i work with Adobe Photoshop CS and listen at the same time to MP3 via Winamp 2.95, drawing with the mouse in Photoshop is extremely choppy. If i move the mouse fast in circles, nothing is drawn unless i move slowly. Curves appear jaggy instead of smooth like it was before. If i stop the music everything's fine. But as soon as music is played tracking the mouse in Photoshop is choppy. This never happened before.
It took me some time to figure out why this happens.
I used this Winamp installation for years without problems. Also there was never a problem with Photoshop. Mouse and its driver also didn't change for years. Then i remembered that i installed the latest Soundblaster drivers just recently.
I deinstalled the driver and now use the same as before, dated 2004-0-8. Works nice without choppiness.
For me the newer drivers are useless. They don't seem to be well tested.

Yes that is normal.  I have no problem with CS6, No lag or hesitation.
A tip for you if your creating the mask using a copy of a color channel. Set the brush blending mode to "Overlay" This will protect the mask Black and White areas. You will only be able yo paint in gray areas of the mask.   When areas turn 0,0,0 Black or 255,255,255 White they become protected too. Use a Wacom tablet soft brush low opacity and many strokes

  • Imovie HD 6--extremely choppy audio

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro.
When I capture video using imovie hd 6, the audio is EXTREMELY choppy. I take the same camera, same tape, and go to my old powerbook g4 and the audio is fine (using imovie HD 6 on that machine, too).
Even after capture, when I play the clip, the audio is choppy. I've burned a test to DVD, and the audio is choppy on the DVD. I don't think it's a memory issue as the MacBook Pro has more memory and a bigger harddrive. Perhaps I have some obscure setting set somewhere, but I can't figure it out. As far as I can tell, the two machines are set the same. Can anyone help me?
On the macbook pro, other sounds are fine (ie--music in itunes) so it's not a speaker issue. Any ideas?

    Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
Sounds like (whoops!) your MacBook's busy doing other things when it's handling the audio, hence the 'choppiness'.
First, if it's brand new, click on the 'Spotlight' magnifying glass at top-right, and if it says "wait, I'm busy indexing" then do wait until it's stopped its initial indexing before you do anything else ..otherwise storage and retrieval on your hard disc will be slow and 'choppy' as it divides its attention between what you want doing, and the indexing which it wants to do for itself.
Second, go to System Preferences, and 'Security', and check that 'Filevault security is turned off', otherwise it'll be trying to encrypt and decrypt the audio ..which will make it stutter (..and will make the video stutter, too).
Thirdly, if you've got GarageBand installed, go there, and play a few notes; that should reset the general system audio to the correct playback rate. Or go to Applications>Utilities>Audio MIDI Setup, and change the Audio Input and Audio Output Format settings to anything, and then back to 44100.0Hz and 2ch-16bit, and then Save and Quit.
(If your MacBook's set up for an inappropriate audio rate (miniDV movies are recorded at 12 or - preferably - 16-bit, 48kHz) then the audio will be choppy while the Mac tries to convert it to an incorrect setting.)
Karl's identified other choppiness causes as excessive separate audio clips in the Timeline, but this wouldn't seem to apply in your case.
Others may have more ideas, but try those above and see if they help..

  • Fast movement appears choppy in Dvd

    Hello,
I have a project that I made in sony vegas and then rendered as an mpg, then imported into Encore.  This same project I had also created in adobe premiere, rendered as an m2v, then imported into Encore (but now I am unable to export it from premiere.. I just had to change computers to a computer that does not have premiere).
When I view the project within Encore, it seems fine, but when I view the burned Dvd, the parts of the movie that involve fast character movements appear choppy (that is the best word to describe it.. it's like there is not good blending between the frames or something)
I am not positive what the issue is here.  I previously had the m2v file exported from premiere, like i said, and when I burned that, it seemed fine.. but I was using a different dvd burner at that time.  Now I am using a different computer, different dvd burner, and an mpg file that I created with Sony Vegas instead.  However, both video files look the same when i view them in Encore.
If this is an issue with my dvd burner, what do you suggest I do? My next plan of action is to create an iso image with encore and try to burn that with another software.  What do you think?
    Thanks for the help!

The bit-rate out of Vegas needs to be higher. Not sure of how Vegas allows control of Exports, but I would increase the bit-rate for the Export.
Test from En with DVD RW discs, so you do not burn "coasters."
    Good luck,

  • Illustrator CC 2014 extremely choppy. Please help.

I just bought an iMac 5k Retina Base model with Yosemite installed. All other CC applications work like a breeze except illustrator. Illustrator is extremely choppy and almost unworkable. Can someone help me out?

    Hey,
I just bought a MBP Retina 15" high-end (i7, 16GB RAM, SSD 512, GeForce GT 750M 2GB) perfectly clean install with Photoshop and Illustrator CC updated. This is terribly choppy (scrolling / navigation / zoom / unzoom), even when creating a new document. Everywhere else, the computer is a real bomb.
With Photoshop, everything is perfectly smooth. I also have a 27 "iMac non retina and no particular concern in Illustrator.
The problem appears when we enlarge the size of the artboard. By using a small artboard, it's almost fluid. More we enlarge it, the more it chop. The solid gray artboard takes all the resources.
I downloaded a demo of SwitchResX that can display resolutions other than those of the system and I put my 15" Retina in 3840x2400px non-HiDPI and Illustrator retrieve its fluidity. So HiDPI is not optimized on Illustrator. Great job Adobe.

  • Embedded QT movies are choppy in KN3 - help?

I have Keynote 3 and am using the same presentations I have used in the prior version. I have small quicktime movies I use in class that came with the text or ancillary CD's that are placed on the slides. During the show the movies playback very choppy when projected to the screen through a LCD projector.
When I play them on my Powerbook without projecting them they play fine in the presenation. I am lost as to why this is happening or what to do to get smooth playback of these movies while running the presentation. Since I am using dual display mode and different resolutions it is very difficult to switch out of Keynote to find and play them individually in the Quicktime Player. The whole purpose of Keynote is to do the presenation and move from slide to slide without having to switch between apps to do video.
I would appreciate any help with this as the class is running now and I have this need every day. Thank you.

I too am disappointed with KN's handling of QT movs. I'm seeing an issue wherein keynote appears to display a half-resolution proxy of the first frame of the mov during the dissolve transition. The presentation then "pops" to the actual QT mov, a 1024 x 768 DVCPro HD codec mov. The mov is gorgeous in QT Player, but this "pop" effect is not acceptable. Also puzzling is that this doesn't happen to a monochrome QT mov which uses the same codec.
I've tried using QT Pro to set the movs to "Preload this Track" but that doesn't seem to affect KN's handling of the transition and/or the QT mov. I don't know if the setting is irrelevant to KN because running in dual display mode means I cannot see Activity Monitor to watch for RAM usage spiking as that page loads, etc. And really, isn't this sort of testing Apple's job anyway?
That said; suppose mirroring resolves the playback issue. It's still broken. When using Presenter Display the user should be able to assign display resources as she sees fit; I'd be delighted to view a black and white, lower res Presenter Display if that would help ensure that the audience got the experience that I intended and programmed.
The other thing is that mirroring itself is broken to my mind. When I mirror my display, I still need each to use appropriate calibration settings. I want to "mirror", not "mirror and apply identical calibration settings" to the two displays. Especially with a PB; where am I going to find a 1440 by 960 projector with exactly the same colorimetry as this display I'm typing on now.

  • Flash Movie runs Choppy

Hi, hopefully someone has some ideas on how to better pull off what I am trying to do.  I have a movie clip that animates a background.  I am trying for an effect of the background getting larger, as if someone were zooming through some clouds and getting closer to the earth.  The clouds get larger, fade away, and the earth comes in to view, also getting larger, fades to some ground that is getting larger as well, until the viewer stops atop a hill.  The movies dimensions are 900 px wide x 750 px high.  I've made the background graphic much larger than the document size, so when the image gets bigger, its edges flow out of view.  For instance, The cloud image starts out far away, then I have a classic tween of it getting bigger, fading its alpha channel away, with the next image of the planet ground under it coming into view, also tweening in to a much larger image and fading out, etc.  The problem is that between each image fade to the next one, the movie wants to stall briefly, making for a rather choppy, rather than smooth, transition from each image.  Any idea why this is happening and how I can make it play smoothly through the transitions?  You can see the file run here: http://www.millenniumdesign.us/index2.html.  Thanks.  Hope my description was clear.

Except for the planet shot, I don't really get a sense that things are zooming in... seems more like they are just changing from one to the next.  You might try slowing it down first to work on the getting visual effect working, then speed it up if you really need it working that fast.

  • Flash CS3 and CS4 "Test Movie" extremely slow, ridiculous.

This is a problem that, having read many forums, affects a very large amount of people, though Adobe doesn't care at all. It only affects OS X users.
When I use Flash CS3, and I make any animation, even the simplest tween, and I preview it with Test Movie, the result I get is an extremely slow playback. Something like half the FPS it should be.
However, when I export the SWF and preview it in the external Flash Player or in a browser, it's just fine and fast.
Another interesting thing is that in CS3, when I open the Help panel, the problem with Test Movie only happens like 20% of the time. In that case, it only gets solved if I restart or Log Out at least. I have no idea why the Help panel being open solves the problem, this only shows that this is probably a little graphic user interface bug, or something similar, that could be solved very very easily.
In Flash CS4, there is no Help panel, so there is no solution to the problem.
It would be nice to be able to press Cmd + Enter to see the movie, and not have to do File > Export > bla bla bla, open Finder, Find the SWF, double click it, wait for the browser to open... etc...
I have a brand new 2.5 GHz MacBook Pro, and Test Movie runs faster on my 900MHz Pentium III PC!! Funny...
Here are some links I found about this problem:
    http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-878
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb407896
    http://www.kirupa.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-258991.html
This is quite ridiculous, and on Adobe's Support page, the solution is "Do not use Test Movie."
And the funny thing is that they didn't even bother to fix this in CS4...
So basically if something doesn't work, Adobe's solution is "Don't use it."
    I guess they're right!
Please, tell me if anyone has this problem or knows anything about it!
    Thanks,
    Mate

    1) Every post I see that you have made recently reflects on problems that are most likely associated with your computer that are causing problems with your software. 1st thing I would look at with your problems (and I do not mean just this one) is a conflict with another program, ei antivirus software, etc. Trying turning off programs one by one, relaunching your CS programs, and see if you can find a culprit.
    2) With that kind of attitude you are only going to receive just as friendly/helpful solutions. Just because SOMEONE ELSE doesn't solve YOUR problem does not mean that THEY are ignorant.

  • MTS to .MOV are choppy

I used Wondershare to convert MTS files to .MOV or MP4 files, and they are converting and playing normally in Quicktime.  However, when I bring them into FCPX, they become choppy and hard to read files? Any suggestions on different conversions?

I don't know about Wondershare. Try MPEG Streamclip and see whether you have better luck. You may get an unreognizeable file type message, but tell it to open anyway, Convert to mov – not mp4.

  • Movie is choppy in slow motion...

    Hi there,
I'm using iMovie HD for movies from my Canon MiniDV Camcorder. Importing and cutting works fine, quality of movie/sound is ok.
After, I use iDVD to burn DVDs from my own movies, works fine too. My only problem: Slow Motion!
When applying slow motion to a piece of movie, it is very choppy. When burned to DVD and watching it on tv, still the same thing.
    I'm using a G4 1700mhz, 1gb Ram. What could my problem be?
    Thanks alot for any ideas!
    -Lucas

    Hi Lucas,
there's a simple technical reason: to get a smooth video, you need 25/30 frames per second, so does your camcorder record the video...
apply a slow-mo just doubles (triples...) the frames - in result, you have 12 or less fps... that is choppy...
Grandmaster Dan shows some slow-motion alternatives on his excellent website...

  • Importing a movies gives choppy results both on import and playback...

    Hello everyone,
I just got an ADVC-55 AD video converter for my Mac quad 2.8. (I am running 10.5.4). When I try to import the video from the VCR via the firewire-connected converter, the video+sound as it is being imported is choppy. This remains choppy on playback once recorded, as well. The same results were for iMovie '08 and iMoveHD '06. In general, when importing movies into the computer, is using iMove '08 better than iMovieHD '06? (I know that iMovie is better for chapters and such for editing once in the computer).
I have tested the VCR on my TV and it is smooth with the same source tape and machine.
This converter is supposed to be plug and play and there are no drivers or software that comes with it. There are 6 dipswitches and these are all set to off.
Drive is a Seagate Barricuda 7200, with 300 gigs free...
Are there any setting I should change to fix the choppiness?
    Any help is appreciated,
    Thank you for you time.

    Hi
    Some thoughts.
    1. free space on Your internal (start-up) hard disk ? 25Gb or more ? 5Gb or less ?
    2. Is Your Canopus ADVC-55 set right ?
My Canopus ADVC-300 has two sets of DIP-switches on it's bottom and this has to
be set right to work. See manual.
    3. A VHS-tape can play "smoothly" to a TV but still have "drop-outs". When exporting
via a A/D converting box (eg Canopus ADVC-55) It will be much more sensitive to these.
Set in iMovie/Pref to not import as individual clips. Can help a bit.
If this is Your problem an import would yield in lots of small clips.
After change it should import larger blocks with smoother playback.
    4. QT 7.5 seems to be problematic. Try to downgrade to version 7.4.5
QuickTime is the heart/engine in iMovie and FinalCut. If this has a problem
both programs starts to ill behave
    5. Deleting iMovie pref file might help - easier is to start a new account and
log into this and have a re-try.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Final Cut movie gets choppy in one specific part

I'm using the Trial version. Both in the project and exported, the video gets choppy during one specific part (maybe a minute long). The video lags and the music cuts in and out. The rest of the video is fine, so I'm not sure what could be causing this. Has anyone else experienced this? Anything helps, thanks.

Claire W wrote: - so is this file not a regular .mov file then? Or are you saying that's the case with all .mov files?
It is a regular .mov file. It's just that it is dependent on its Project and its Render files
and also, just purely out of curiosity, what would have happened to that render file that's missing on the computer the movie was edited on? I haven't deleted any render files, did it somehow just disappear?? Thanks!
I have found that Render Files seem to get lost. Whether they are deleted in some way or it's just that FCE can't find them, I don't know.
As far as opening the FCE Project is concerned, you can easily re-render to replace any missing Render Files, but I don't like Reference QT Movies (the Dependent ones) - see my recent post at:

  • T510 - Ultranav middle button click + touchpad move for scroll issue

    Hi,
I am used from my t500 to click and hold middle button on the Ultranav and move up and down with the touchpad to scroll up and down. However, this does not work on my t510 anymore.
At least it does work sometimes for some seconds in google chrome; but just for some short moments.
The default behaviour is, that when i'm clicking the middle button the scroll symbol in form of a little scrollbar appears. I can then scroll by using the trackpoint, but not by using the touchpad. Using the touchpad has just the effekt, that the symbol disappears.
Sometimes another symbol appears; its the symbol with the arrows pointing in all direktions. Only when this symbol appears i am able to scroll by moving on the touchpad.
Now i am looking for a solution to my problem.
by the way: when i use the trackpoint, the touchpad is locked for some seconds. Is there a way to disable this?
    Best Greets, matthias.

There is an option to adjust how many lines the scrolling wheel skips but nothing about auto-scroll.I tested it.
It seems like if I use the Auto-scroll and keep the mouse literally 1 pixel below the circle, it will be barely slow enough for reading long articles but you really have to spend a minute and a magnifier to make sure you put the mouse pointer exactly 1 pixel below the circle, otherwise it gets too fast.I'm NOT exaggerating the 1 pixel part. My screen is 1920x1080.Maybe that makes things worse.
I was hoping to adjust the number of "pixels" the pointer has to travel to increase the speed from 1st to 2nd stage.Basically, to increase the distance you have to move the mouse in order to increase the acceleration.
I'm not sure if anyone here uses 1080p screen.Could you please confirm that it's also 1 pixel for you ?
