HP Touchpad power button assembly replacement

Hello,
I wasnt able to find this part (the power button and volume control assembly). I have broke it while opening the Touchpad which voids my warranty.
Could anyone here please direct me on where or how to buy a replacement for this part?. Thanks in advance.

  • Dell Vostro 430, needs pushing power button multiple times before powering up

    Hi
I had to push the power button twice for the system to power up for a long time now. For the last month or so, I need to push the power button up to 20 times for the system to start. Is this an issue with the power unit of the system and does anyone a solutions for this.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Does this happen after leaving the system off all night or every time you start the machine?
If it happens all the time, the power button assembly might have malfunctioned and will need to be replaced. When was the system purchased? You can try the following steps and check if it makes any difference
    Remove power cable
Hold down power button for 10 seconds
Plug back cable and try starting system.
Revert with an update and we can look at further options.

  • Broken power button 'inner'

Hello Everyone, I rather carelessly broke the power button 'inner' (grey cap that holds the spring in place) when I had the bottom housing off my iMac. The two little lugs that clip it in have snapped off. I can sort of balance it in place while I put the housing back but this doesn't seem too good a solution. I have an old iMac I can canniblize. Is it possible to swap the inner caps without having to delve into it's works. I mean, can it be done without actually taking the whole power button assembly out (very complicated for me). Thanks

Yes that can be done. There are 3 "hook" clips that hold that button in place. You need a very tiny thin blade to push them toward the center so they unhook. These can be very brittle and easily snapped off.
The sure way to do it is to take off that grey inner bezel but that's also taking out the CRT.
Otherwise all the original iMac keyboards had a power button on them.
I work on lots of them and have broken off my share but not since I use a big fluffy towel to work on. I'm also aware of how fragile they are so I'm more careful when working with it face down.
    Luck.
    Richard

  • Replacing Power button dual 1G MDD

The front panel power button on my Dual 1Ghz G4 MDD is getting "flaky". I have to push it a bit sideways and to the right for it to work. Any words of wisdom on how to replace the assembly and where to buy it? The local Apple store is only "allowed" to do trades. I bring them the bad assembly and leave it with them, then they will order me a replacement. That could take "a few weeks". When I pointed out the obvious (that I would then have a computer without a power switch) they obviously understood but couldn't do anything about "policy".
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi
Instructions for replacing the front panel board can be found here:
    http://www.info.apple.com/usen/cip/pdf/g4mdd/g4mdd-fpb.pdf
Unfortunately it's a bit involved as the optical drive carrier and optical drive bezel have to be removed first.
I've never used them before, but the following is one company that seems to have the part for around $50:
    http://www.mac-pro.com
I'd double check the problem is with the front panel board and not the button itself in the bezel before you buy anything though. I guess it's possible it's just gunked up and needs a clean.

  • I have an iphone 5 that was originally with verizon but has been unlocked now by them and the phone is still under the apple warranty, if I go to replace for power button malfunctioning, will they give replace it with an unlocked phone as well?

I currently have an iphone 5 that was verizon locked but has been unlocked by them because of my contract, the phone is still under the apple warranty but the power button is not working, if it was the case that apple has to replace it with another phone, will they replace with an unlocked phone now?
    thanks

The SIM Lock is stored on the Apple Activation Server - if it has been correctly unlocked by a network then this would have been done on the Activation Server.
When you get your replacement handset through Apple they mirror the activation server details of your existing handset and the current SIM LOCK status is mirror'd onto the new device.
(100% Accurate - done mine 2 weeks before christmas due to original 5 sleep button stopped working)

was attempying to put a piece of paper underneath my button, as I had seen on an online tutorial.
Did that "solve" or cause the problem???

  • I have an iPhone 5. I got it just over a year ago and the power button recently quit working. Since ive had it for over a year, can i take it in and have it replaced or fixed?

I got my iPhone 5 a little over a year ago, and my power button recently quit working. Since ive had it for over a year, can i still get it fixed or replaced?

Wow that is so unlucky. If I was you I would try talking to someone at the Apple Store, explain your situation and don't be shy to shed a tear or too. Its just a shame 3 weeks after your phone getting hardware problems. I know people will say, oh buy Apple Care but I feel ya and I know adding that extra money in the beginning feels pointless and expensive.
Worst case scenarion like I said you will have to pay Apple 269 for them to swap phones. Or if you have any nerd friends have them fix it for you. Its a tedious repair the way the power button has some weird hinge that needs to snap on and ribbons are so thin. I do not advise for you to attempt to fix your self unless you don't care if you break it completely.
Alternatively you could just turn on Assisitive touch on accessibility and use that. That way you wont need to pay anything to fix your phone and wont need to take it apart either.

  • Iphone 5 power button not working!! They have replacement program for months but why they dont email you and say it??

I have had iphone 5 and have never been happy and i think apple is not leading the technology and future of market anymore as they are lowering quality of their products(even hardware). I had to change first iphone 5 i had because of wireless issues and then i had battery problem  and had to charge 3 times a day and finally after 2 years i bought they decided that its faulty and they decide to change it. Luckily enough i read it on an online tech magazine and after googling i see that they have had replacement for power button as well which i am eligible for as well!! i go to genius bar and they replace battery but they dont replace power button cause they examine it and passes till the audio dock test! It connects to charder dock or cable but it doest to audio test dock and he says one off the pins inside is not right but it charges perfectly with every cable in the store!! And i tell him that they have to change power button not the charging pin cause it doesnt make sense!! Its a faulty product and maybe if they emailed and said it nearly a year ago my pin was right then!!  so i think they found a silly reason not to change it and so i am struggling with that phone and brand  that i hate(once i used to love)!

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. This is not AppleCare. You are not addressing Apple here. No one here can help you resolve your customer service issue with Apple. Use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page for information on how to contact Apple directly. When you talk to them, I'd suggest not using profanity. It makes people less likely to help you.

It is unlikely but you can atleast try they might set it up for free but expect an email about paying 269 for physical damage

  • New iPhone replacement has a faulty power button.

I have got my iPhone replaced 4 times till now because of various issues with the handset, out of which 2 iPhone replacements have had power button issue, the last replacement that i took from the service center on 6th December 2013, again had a faulty power button out of the box. Due to the same issue recurring for the 3rd time, i called apple customer care on 7th December,2013 and registered a complaint. The response that i have got from the apple engineering team has been highly disappointing. I was told that it was my usage fault and not an hardware fault. How can this be a usage fault if the phone was faulty out of the box. Such a response is not expected from a brand like apple.
This has offended me and i am highly disappointed with such a response from a brand like Apple.

No, that has never been the case. Apple has always by official policy declared that dents constituted user-caused damage, as they most certainly are, and therefore voided the warranty.
In any case, you've been given the facts. The damage to your iPhone has voided the warranty. So you can either pay for a replacement, or you can sell your damaged iPhone for whatever price you can get for it and go buy something else. There's nothing else anyone here can tell you.
