Hp touchpad screen is dark won't reboot

I have an hp touchpad and the screen is off and won't activate I have tried the force reboot and I'm pretty sure that is operating because I have an hourly clock installed with chimes and I can hear the chimes but the screen remain dark

There are several other threads already discussing this topic, but they all say the same things:
--Check your charger.  Many of the USB cables supplied by HP were fragile, and break easily.  Try another micro-USB cable with a charger that supplies 2 amps (2,000mA).  If using an HP charger, check the prongs on the transformer - they are removable, and if twisted out of position no current will flow.
--Try all the resets - simple (hold both the power and center button for 15 - 20 seconds until the HP logo appears).   Advanced (press and hold the power, center, and volume down together until logo appears.  May give the option to completely erase the unit!)
--Use a TouchStone to charge the device if you suspect the female charging port on the TouchPad has been damaged.
--As a last resort, try using the tpdebrick-v004 program.  This is a difficult, but doable re-flash of the device using a computer running Ubuntu, and a program from this link.

I revived one of my touchpads using this method.

  • Semi-New Macbook Pro 17" suddenly dark; won't reboot all the way

My Macbook Proo was fine this afternoon.
    Went dark. Required restart.
Each time I do, it gets a teeny bit of bargraph drawn, then goes dark.
Basically, I can't restart (and it was fine.) Suggestions?

You can also try a reset.
Restart the computer holding down the command - option/alt - P - R keys before the grey screen appears. Continue to hold until you hear the startup chime for the second time.
    Reset NVRAM/PRAM
Try an SMC reset. The article covers when this is required, but doing this will not affect anything.
    Reset SMC
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Try the suggestions here to see if they resolve your problem:

If these don't work you probably have a hardware problem. Visit an Apple store for an evaluation or contact Apple Support.

  • Screen too dark to read after reboot. How to fix this.

AFter reboot, screen so dark I can barely see it. How may I fix this!

    Hi Jbr8d,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. Are you able to adjust the screen brightness, as outlined in the following article?
OS X Mavericks: Adjust your display’s brightness
If you are unable to adjust the brightness, or the brightness setting isn't retained or doesn't respond to ambient light (if you have a MacBook Pro with an ALS), you may want to try resetting the System Management Controller, as noted below:

Reboot into Safe Mode (hold the shift key down at the sound of the chime, release when the progress bar appears) Safe Mode will take longer to boot than normal.

It is guitardad's again... I read past topics on this issue... As I am not overly computer savvy, I want to be careful that I don't mess things up further... Of course the extended warranty is done... There is talk about booting from the system disc...  I'm not sure if this is the first thing to do or not... Can the support community, advise me on what logical steps I should take ( in order) or direct me to a website and/ or you tube video that walks one safely through the processes... Once again thank you for reading and offering your advice... I am on fixed $$$ so I'm trying to avoid calling apple, unless I have no options and/or the suggestions do not resolve the issues... Tx again Don.

  • While working on PC side, my screen went dark and my Macbook Pro has been emitting a loud buzzing/humming noise. How do I reboot? Am I totally dead?

Help, I was working on my pc partition, using quick books and my machine suddenly freaked out. Screen is dark, backlit keyboard is lit and it is emitting a LOUD humming/buzzing. I can't reboot, turn it off, nothing. I unplugged the power chord in hopes that the batter will run out but what the heck happened and is my machine completely gone? Is this under warranty? I bought this thing in august of 2010 so it's not yet a year old.
    HELP! HELP! HELP!

Hold down the power button and it will shut down. Have you not read the User Guide? (Chapter 4).

  • My MacBook won't turn on. When I try, it makes electronic tones and the screen remains dark. What do I do?

This morning I found my MacBook screen was dark, no response. The power light was on, it's been plugged in and that seems to be working. I powered it down and when I hit power to turn it back on it made an electronic pattern of tones.  After that...nothing. Dark screen, power light on. I'd love some advice.

    Try this.
    Erase and Reinstall OS X
Note: This will delete all data on the disk. Back up important files before continuing.
Erasing and then reinstalling OS X can give you a fresh start, making your computer exactly as it was whenever you received it from Apple. This can solve various problems such as corrupt system files.
Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.
Press the Power Button to turn on the computer.
Press and hold both the R and Command (⌘) keys on the keyboard until the Recovery partition loads.
Select Disk Utility and then choose Continue.
Select your startup disk (Macintosh HD by default) from the left.
    Select the Erase tab.
Choose the Format pop-up menu and choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled), enter a name for your disk, and then click Erase.
After the disk is erased, choose Disk Utility > Quit Disk Utility.
Select Reinstall OS X and then choose Continue.
    Follow the instructions.
I hope I solved your question.

  • Accessing the internet, I can google and get search results but the screen stays dark and doesn't load, accessing the internet, I can google and get search results but the screen stays dark and doesn't load

what is the problem when the screen goes dark and you cant' access the search items, also i find it strange that I can access you tube but can't access internet thru safari??

Couple of things you could try : clearing your Safari cache (Settings > Safari > Clear Cache and also try Clear History). You could also try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • My Facebook and Safari are now "stuck".  I can't scroll and the screen is darker that normal.

My Facebook and Safari are both "stuck".  I cant's scroll or open anything plus the screen is dark (not black).  What did I do?

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History). Then try closing the app completely : from the home screen double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it  (and Facebook app if you are using that and not accessing it via Safari), and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • HT201406 When I open a web page the screen gets dark and not responding

Screen ges dark and non- responding can't get out of it frozen

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari via the taskbar and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
