L655 has solid white power LED and soid orange battery LED and will not power on at all.  I tried a second power adaper.  Any other suggestions?  It does not even try to power on.  No fan or any other noises.

if it is not powering up on battery or AC, then there is either something wrong on the motherboard keeping it from powering up, or a bad power switch.  I personally have not encountered a bad power switch on any of my Toshibas, so I would suspect something with the motherboard.  It is strange that it does indicate that your plugged in and charging.  If you leave the power adapter plugged in, does the battery status eventually go white?

  • My desktop will not power on!!!

My computer won't power on! 3 year old desktop, no previous issues. Left it in sleep mode yesterday and today it will not power on, no sound, no fan...dead. I tried a new power cord and I tried the unplug and hold in the power button. Help!!

I tried it but when I plug the cord back in and press the power button, nothing happens. I still tried pressing the button combo you mentioned but still nothing happened. I also tried plugging in the computer in a different room just in case it was a bad circuit...still no luck.

  • MacBook will not power on at all

    Hi there,
My 2011 13" MacBook Air will not power up. It is charging, and recently turned from amber to green.
I have tried to reset the SMC and PRAM - obviously these options didn't fix the problem.
I cannot hear any fans or anything moving in the MacBook that would indicate that it is powering on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I shutdown and unplugged my m9500y desktop to get new carpet installed in my office. Upon hooking everything back up the green led on the back turns on and remains on but when I push the power button nothing happens. No noises, fans, lights, etc. did a quick google search but did not see a solution for this model. Any ideas?

    Gaines1016, welcome to the forum.
The age of the computer leads me to believe that you could have a failed power supply unit (PSU).  Here is a guide to help you troubleshoot it.
If this doesn't work, you should test the memory.  You can do this two ways: 1) remove all of the memory and replace it one stick at a time and boot and 2) use Memtest86+.  You should shut the computer off and unplug the power cord before removing the memory.

  • HT4623 iPad Mini - one year old.  Plugged it in to charge and now it will not power on at all.  I have tried different cables to ensure it was not a faulty cable.  What else can I do?

I have an iPad mini that is exactly one year old.  I plugged it in to charge it.  The next morning it ws completely dead.  I can't get it to come on no matter what I try.  I have tried a different cable to see if my cable was faulty, but  that id not resolve the issue.  No matter what I try, I can not get it to power on.  I cannot get iTunes, nor my computer to recognize it when it is plugged in.
Has anyone else had this issue?  What can I do?  Any help would be appreciated!

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • System will not power up at all AC power light only G50-109NR

    Hell,
I have a HP G50-109NR that has had the following parts replaced up to this point.:
    System Board
    Power On Assembly Board
Plug In Type DC Power Jack
I get the light next to the power jack to come on when I plug the power supply in.
That is all I can get to happen on this laptop. I don't want to give up, it seams to me like it is still not getting power but yet the little light next to the plug lights up. I have checked the output of the power supply and it seems to be working. I mean not a beep no other lights come on nothing. This time the system board came directly from HP. I have used very good anti static protection through the process. Anti static mats my self and even my hand tools are grounded together.
Please anyone that has any Ideas at all please contact me via my email [text removed for privacy]
Thank You for any help received.

Have you tested the polarity, voltage, amperage and such coming out of the power brick? There is definately power coming out of it, but LEDs, as I'm sure you know, will light up with a lot of power specs, including what may be out of range for the motherboard to power on with.
I take it the battery is completely discharged? I have owned several second hand laptops that have had issues with batteries. One, the battery was toasted, and if it was in the laptop, it wouldn't power up regardless of the DC input. The one I'm using now won't power on unless the battery /is/ installed, though the lights come on.  Maybe you have a similar situation there.
I'd still consider stripping everything non-essential off the motherboard to try.

  • Lenovo laptop will not power up at all. Please help

Ok, so I got up this morning to turn my laptop on and it acted like it was gonna power up but nothing ever appeared on the screen. So I took out the battery and put it back in to see if that would work, but now it doesn't show any signs of power at all. I read somewhere it could be the motherboard cause even while plugged in it doesn't work. I just got the laptop a week before Christmas so it's not like its that old. Also the battery was holding a great charge before this happened so I know its not dead. I can find the receipt to bring it in, but I do have the bank statement from where I paid with a debit card so would that suffice enought to exchange it? Thanks for any help.

Kinda sounded like they tried that nono "cause even while plugged in it doesn't work."
Definitely try xl's info and try taking out the battery and unplugging it, hold down power button for 15ish seconds, then reinsert battery, replug in and try to power it on.

  • My Powerbook will not power up, but I can hear the fan running...

Please help!! My Powerbook will not power up, but I can hear the fan running when I press the power button to attempt to power it up. I just received a new power adapter because it wasn't working properly and it was doing this before and then it worked for a week and now it will not power up at all. It just starts the fan but nothing else turns on. When I plug the adapter, with the battery still connected, it will look as if it is charging but then the light on the plug turns from green to orange then off and doesn't power up at all. If I take the battery out and plug in the adapter, the light stays on but it does not power up except for the fan noise. Does anyone have any suggestions? I also followed the two articles listed online in regards to resetting the power setting and the command + alt + P + R as well. Nothing works. Thanks in advance.....

Same here. If I start up with the power adapter attached, it starts up fine. If I try to start up from battery only, the fan comes on, the sleep light comes on but nothing else happens. I tried letting it sit that way for about 15 minutes and nothing changed. I tried attaching the power cord while in this mode and nothing changed. I tried the PMU reset a couple of times but nothing helps.
This computer is just over 1 year old and I have not had any problems with the power cord (3rd party), the battery, or any problem like this before. It started after a proper shutdown last night and attempt to start without the power cord this afternoon.
Any answers to this yet? I think I'll call on this and report any success to this discussion.

  • Need Help HP DM3 (DM3-1130us) Laptop will not power on. No power at all except for light on a/c jack

    Hello, I need some help.
I have a HP DM3-1130us Laptop that will not power on at all.
the only thing that happens when I plug it in is the power jack lights up.
When the power button is used absolutely nothing happens.
No power, no fans, no leds, no on/off cycles, no beebs, absolutely nothing
just the light by the power jack that says the cord is plugged in.
The laptop has Windows 7, 320gb hdd, 4gb ram.
I have tried new power adapter and still nothing.
I have taken the battery out and tried and nothing.
I've tried the option where you take the battery out and hold the power and nothing.
I have tried with different hard drive and no hard drive and nothing.
I have tried reseating the ram and tried new ram modules still nothing.
So I am kind of stumped on what to do, the laptop will just not turn on.
Its not under warranty anymore so cant send it off.
It has not been exposed to any elements(extreme heat or water).
and its never been dropped or anthing.
Im kind of wondering maybe the power button board its self is bad?
If feels fine, its not loose or anything but could it
have just stopped working? for those who are not familiar with this model.
the power button is on the side and is a kind of drag and release button.
Its also on the same board with the Wifi button and 2 Usb ports.
But Im wondering before I buy a new one if this is what it could be.
Or could the motherboard its self be bad?
But even if the motherboard is bad would it still power up
    just not post?
Also does anyone know of any other way to try to power this laptop up
without using the slide button. I mean kind of like off a Dv6000 you can power the laptop on by using the Quicklaunch buttons on top but this laptop does not have those.
If anyone can provide any information I would appreciate it.
    Thank you.

    Hey Tyler,
Unfortunately it is difficult to troubleshoot this type of issue. The majority of the time when the computer wont power on with the same symptoms you described, the power supply board is faulty. Most of the time if the motherboard is bad it should at least turn on or so some signs of life. Like I said, this is most of the time. Sometimes it could do exactly what your experiencing. I would suspect the power supply board has failed since you are not receiving any sort of lights, sounds, etc.
You could check the motherboard for swollen capacitors or loose solder joints but sometimes you wont be able to find anything.
I hope this helps answers your questions,
    Sean

  • My iPhone 5s will not power on and I need my serial number for support.

I am attempting to get help through Apple Support- Chat, but I need my serial number.  It is not showing up in iTunes under the device preferences.  Any other ways to retrieve the serial number through iCloud?
If anyone has any idea of what is going on with my phone, I would love some assistance.  I live 45 minutes from the nearest Apple Store.  Here's the situation:
About 2 weeks ago, my phone started shutting itself off and restarting randomly.
About a week and a half ago, I would randomly get a blue screen and then the phone would restart multiple times.
About a week ago I turned off Touch ID in an effort to resolve the issue, after reading some fixes from this community.  That seemed to help.  I do have the animation turned off, so I had read that there may be an issue between the Touch ID and animation reduction.  If that had not helped, I was going to turn the animation back on.
Last night my phone seemed fine.  I did hear it restart in the middle of the night once, but this morning it will not power on at all.
I tried connecting it to my computer through iTunes, but iTunes does not see it and I cannot access the device information from it.
My phone is less than a month old, and for the first two weeks it worked great.  I am taking it into the AT&T Store today where it was purchased, but I don't really have high hopes for a resolution.
    Any help is much appreciated!

Sorry AT&T store won't be much help.
I suggest you make an appointment with the Genius bar and then go to the Apple store.

  • HP Pavilion dv6000 will not power up.

I have had an HP Pavillion dv6000 for a few years, and suddenly, it will not power up at all.  I can not determine that anything at all happens when I press the power button.  What's weird is that when I connect the power, the AC LED (the one with the lightning bolt above it) lights, and stays lit for 30 seconds, and then turns off.  During that time, and thereafter, the power light will not come on at all, and the computer will not power up.  I have tried removing the battery and power cord and holding the power button for 45 seconds, multiple times, but nothing seems to work.  I hope you can offer some advice on things to try.
    Thanks,
    Zach
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Well, I've had the problem for a while and was just looking around to see if anyone has had any success stories.
I will tell you how I get mine up and running, but first some background. I was gifted this computer DOA and asked to retrieve data which I was able to do but in monkeying around, I discovered a "fix".
You see, I live in an area where we occassionally lose power for a day or two or three so the weakened battery never outlasts the outage. That's when the unit becomes unstartable.
    Now the fix:
It is a variation of all the other suggestions about undoing the power cord and disconnecting the battery but here's the twist: After removing the battery and power cord, wrap your laptop in one then another plastic shopping bag and place it in the freezer for about an hour or two. Now, when you take out your shivering laptop, plug in the power cord and fire her up. It has nearly always started for me after this trial by cold but once or twice it needed more chillin'. Once it is started, insert the battery. I've never had any issues with this sequence.
You will have a lot of condensate on the screen but gently wipe it up with an absorbent cloth and let the rest of air dry as you let it run.
As long as I leave the computer plugged in and not reliant on the battery, it has never died on me.
    Hope this helps!

  • IMac will not power up!  Help!

I have an iMac that for some reason will not power up, at all.
The specs are: 800 MHz, iMac G4, 512 MB.
It stopped detecting the available WiFi network in my home regardless of where I located it. So I rest PRAM, and no change. I reset NVRAM and all in open firmware, no change. Pulled the RAM and AirPort card and reseated; no change.
So I reset the PMU (pushed it quickly and only once) and now it will not start up at all. No fan. No lights. Nothing.
I don't have any extra plugged into the iMac now. I pulled the RAM and Airport card and have tried booting with and without just the keyboard plugged in.
I've unplugged it and let it set for over 24 hours and still nothing. I have noticed that when I plug it in, the overhead incandescent bench light on the same circuit dims or flickers ever so slightly for a very brief moment.
So I'm leaning towards one of the following:
    1. PMU crash meaning I need to replace the logic board
    2. Fried logic board which is likely why the Airport card stopped responding (which, by the way, was somewhat intermitant at first)
    3. PMU crash that can somehow miraculously be reset saving me from having to get a replacement logic board
    4. Bad battery (haven't checked this yet as it seems the machine would show some sign of life if it had a bad battery. This thing is lifeless).

    Hello slee:
You have, IMHO, analyzed the problem. I think it is time to take the computer to either an Apple store or to an Apple certified repair shop for diagnosis. I do not think you want to begin replacing things that may be OK.
