HP Touchsmart tx2 1025dx keyboard not working. Touchscreen does work. Help.

HP  Touchsmart tx2 1025dx keyboard  not working.  Touchscreen does work.  Help.

I am having the exact same problem with the DoS beep that now sounds like screetching upon boot up. It is so bad that I can no longer turn off the computer, or it usually doesnt boot up for hours. I will give the USB keyboard trick a try tho.
The worst of it is that I leave the computer on standby at night to avoid the boot issue, and the computer starts itself up at night, like 2am and starts beeping nonstop until I manually power it down with the power button. Ive been having these problems for 2 years, since I first purchased the computer, and I just recently found out that the battery has failed, even though the computer is ALWAYS plugged in, and has been used on battery mode for all of 10 hours max. I believe this boot problem is a battery related issue. This battery is not on the HP recall list (not surprisingly).
I called HP customer support, and even contacted a case manager. They pretty much dont want to hear about the problem because I am out of warrantee x1 year. They pretty much dismiss it until I pay 330$ for repairs. They laugh at the anguish this night-time awakening is causing. Very disrespectful for HP customer service. Not sure if I will buy an HP again.
Anyways, let's work on this issue together. Can anybody send me a link to that manual? I would like to try resetting the RAM. This computer is in brand new condition, and the keyboard, battery and boot are all malfunctioning for no reason at all.
Best of luck in your search for answers.

Bricked my touchsmart-tx2 1025dx.  Cap/Num Lock LEDs blinking once, so I replaced the processor but the LEDs are still giving me a single blink (processor issue).  Any advice?

    Hey NikosK,
The one-blink code is indicating an issue related to CPU and/or system board (bent pins, etc.). It's possible that the system board needs to be replaced.
Here's a table of all of the LED codes:

Do you know what caused this issue in the first place, before replacing the processor?

after "sleep" keyboard not responding, mouse is working ok (mouse is wireless, k/board is not)

Probably a defective keyboard.  I had that problem a few months after I got my Mac Pro.  Apple replaced the keyboard and it has worked fine ever since.

My Macbook Pro won't print with my HP Photosmart 7515. I get the following message, " Print file was not accepted" Printer does work with our PC?? Checked for software updates and are none. Talked with HP help and they say it's an Apple problem

I noticed that you said you uninstalled the printer, but you didn't mention resetting the print system.  Resetting the print system will reset the drivers the Mac has installed and make them work like they should.  Give this a try and see if it gets the printer working like it should.  The document below will expalin more about doing this.
Basic Printer Troubleshooting Steps for Mac
If that doesn't help, see if you are using the AirPrint driver, or the printers driver.  By default 10.8 uses the AirPrint driver if the printer supports it, so I'm betting that's the driver you're using.  If it is, try using the driver for the printer itself.  To do this, access Print and Scan.  Click the + sign to add a new printer.  Select the printer from the list.  Click the dropdown next to Use and select the 7515's driver.  Let me know what happens.

  • Tx2-1025dx Keyboard Problems

    Hello,
I bought a tx2-1025dx touchsmart laptop around the 5th June 2009. I have used it about 3 times since I have bought it. The last time was in work to do some AutoCAD drawing. While using it, I noticed that some of the numbers (in the row just below the F1 to F12 keys) stopped working. As a matter of fact, only the number "5" and "6" keys work. I can only get the missing numbers by using the "Num-Lock" function on the keyboard. I notice that many users (over in the business forum) have problems with their keyboard being totally non-functional in some instances; with no reports of any being partially-functional. Nevertheless, I tried some of the following recommended solitions:
    1) I tired re-booting.
    2) I tried updating the BIOS to F.14
    3) I tried uninstalling all the Keyboard and Mouse software from device manager and  re-installing them using the HP Recovery Manager.
    3) I tried updating the HP-QuickButtons(?) software.
    4) I tried unplugging the laptop and removing the battery, then sliding and holding the power button to the on position for three minutes (in one instance for a couple of hours with the help of a perfectly sized hex-bit), then re-plugging in the battery and AC-Power and re-booting.
    5) I tried a system restore to factory settings.
    6) I tried resetting BIOS to factory default settings, saving and rebooting (where I also found out the keys don't work, so it has to be something at the BIOS level, maybe hardware related).
None of these options have worked. The keys still do not function..... the funny thing is that I got them to start working ONLY ONCE at the logon screen and then into windows. After a re-boot however.... that was it...
Does anyone have any ideas (other than replacement under warranty.... which is where I think i will end up going). I just want to make sure I have really tried everything.
No seriously, there is no "Any" key....

Thank you for the information, it was what I needed to help me make a decision.
I agree the best course of action for you at this point is to contact support and have your Notebook serviced.
The fact that those keys don't work anywhere including the BIOS is conclusive enough for me.
No point putting off the inventible, good luck.

  • Usb keyboard not recognized in mac - working in windows

    Hello,
I am facing a strange issue with a usb numeric keyboard.
After some plug-ins/outs one night, it stopped being recognized in my iMac.
Actually, system profiler shows the following:
    Vendor-Specific Device:
      Product ID:          0x6560
      Vendor ID:          0x04b4  (Cypress Semiconductor)
      Version:          90.15
      Speed:          Up to 480 Mb/sec
      Location ID:          0x26200000 / 3
      Current Available (mA):          500
Current Required (mA):          Unknown (Device has not been configured)
The keyboard, doesn't work either with my MacBook Pro. USB ports are working fine with any other devices.
I recently tried with a windows machine of a friend and the keyboard worked fine there.
Both my macs are running 10.6.8
    Any ideas ?

I have the same problem. I found I can unplug the keyboard and when replugged, everything works OK.
I just upgraded to OS V10.6.4 and still must unplug and replug the keyboard in order to type.
    WHY?

  • Exchange calendar over Active Sync not working - Email does work

    Hi all,
I am having some strange issue with my iPhone calendar sync with Exchange (not over iTunes but over the Air with the new business features).
I happen to connect to the exchange server and exchange Contacts and Email without any problems but when it comes to the calendar it stops working. I have no Idea why though?!
IF I create a subfolder on that Calendar and fill it with info it works, appointments are shown but my normal real calendar is not shown at all.
    Weired isn't it?
I would be very gratefull for any help.
    Kind regards
    Maniak

Same problem here...but mine seems to be caused by changing the Exchange settings for testing and then changing them back to what they were. Email and contacts work perfectly, but calendar is dead. What makes it even weirder is that when I click in the calendar I can see the items start pouring into the list view, then they all disappear and it remains empty.
Anyone have any ideas? I tried a restore but I didn't have a backup before I made those changes so it is obviously still happening...

  • My next G card is not working, it does work on other computors

I am not able to connect to the web/e-mail with my next g card, yet it works on other computers

I'm not sure what a "next g card" is, but if it's a cellular modem of some sort, then it needs driver software, which you may not have installed.

  • TouchSmart tx2-1370us HUGE issues with new battery PLEASE HELP I AM DESPERATE!!!!!

I purchased a new battery for my laptop. I got a LHP-41XT which is supposed to last longer... the following issues I initially thought were because I got a defective battery but I replaced it for another one and they are still happening:
Battery is fully charged. When power cord is disconnected after a random amount of time the computer just dies while the charge does not even get down to 80%. The computer does not even go into the shut down process, it just completely dies.
When trying to turn on the computer with battery it starts to boot up and after a few seconds it completely shuts off. After that no matter how many times I press the bottom to turn it on it just wont even try to turn on. I have to turn it on with the cord.
To try to remediate the problem I have tried and failed the following:
     -  Get a new battery of the same model in case the problem was the battery
     -  Calibrate the battery using every single option there is (changing power profile to "Calibrate," letting the computer discharge completly without using it, letting the computer discharge completly using it, letting the computer discharge completly without using it in while in safe mode) but the computer just keeps on dying.
     -  Change all the power settings so the computer does not hibernate, go into shut down, or does anything when the power levels go down.
     -  Erase completely the battery drives so the computer does not try to detect the battery charge.
     -  Upgraded the computer bios to the latest version
     -  Replaced BIOS battery
Please someone help me I do not know what else to do and I don't want to keep wasting money to try stuff that does not work...

No I haven't and HP seems not to care about the problem so guess what. No more HP's for me anymore....

  • FTP doesn't work, SFTP does work .... ?

    This is odd.
I previously had authenticated users be able to log into their home folder using FTP, but this doesn't seem to work anymore (no settings were changed).
But if the client uses SFTP, it logs in fine.
I'm stumped! Previously it worked fine via FTP/SFTP, and now only SFTP.
Anyone have a similar problem? Any help would be great!

    > If you are asking me how to disable sftp but let ssh work, it can't be done
    Oh, but it can.
SFTP runs as a subsystem to SSH.
If you check /etc/sshd_config you'll find a line near the end:
    <pre class=command>Subsystem sftp /usr/libexec/sftp-server</pre>
If you want to run SSH, but not SFTP, comment out this line.

  • How can i make my iMac to work touchscreen?

I heard that touchscreen does work, but how? Do i need to do any settings?

Google 'touch screen on mac' and see what you get.
Despite Apple having taken out patents in that area, it seems to be for the future - and it against the TOU of these forums to discuss the future!

  • Hello, the perennial question on getting the Touchsmart touchscreen to work with WIndows 7

My IQ526 touchscreen does not work after upgrading to Win 7 Ultimate, using the upgrade software provided by HP.
I have a good installation of Win 7, diagnostics run fine, and installed the touchscreen drivers from the HP website in the recommonded order.
The Touchsmart software seems to be installed OK, and the screen "pings" when touched, but the touchscreen functionality does not work.
Any ideas on where I go from here, please?
    Thank you.

hey Coburn,  if you've done all of that ... it's either a touch failure or some type of software failure.  have you tried performing a system recovery?  if it works after the system  recovery then it's like a software problem but if it doesn't, it's a hardware problem.  at that point you should contact HP.
