HP TouchSmart600 Failure to launch after installing Win10

I tried to download Win10 today. My TouchSmart 600 downloaded ALL the program and as it went on with the install it said everything was good but at the final launchif hung up and wouldn't launch. It hard the startup repair screen and made me restore to the previous Win7. I had a similar issue when I tried to install Win8 too, it downloads the progam ok, but cannot lauch it. There is some hardware or software component that is preventing it from launching and its pissing me off! This computer wans't cheap and I have TWO of them! I think when I tried to investigate why it wouldn't launch WIn8 I read that the issues was with graphics driver or video card? Apparently there was a fundamental conflict and HP had not deeoped a patch. I was hoping that 2 years later they would have figured this out and got it sorted for Win10. Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this so I can enjoy Win10?  Again, i can download and install the program, the issue comes when it goes to launch it.

  • Photoshop CS4 will not launch after installing Yosemite.

Photoshop CS4 will not launch after installing Yosemite. All the other CS4 apps open. I upgraded Java. Genius Bar could not get it to launch.

Here's the fix I found, by way of an explanation...
Snow Leopard prompted me on my first startup with the following error:
"There is a conflict with the _______ font file. This font file contains a font name that conflicts with a system font required by Mac OS X to display onscreen text. You should move this font file to the Trash."
The fonts it said were conflicting: Helvetica, HelveticaNeue.dfont, Lucida Grande, and Monaco. I figured Snow Leopard probably wanted to replace these fonts with newer versions, and so I clicked "Move to Trash" on all four.
Apparently 10.6 trashed these fonts but didn't replace them. This was causing Photoshop to crash on load.
So I restored my ~/Library/Fonts folder from a backup made just before upgrading and this time after a reboot I said "Allow Conflict" on all four dialog boxes and launched Photoshop... everything is back to normal!
Not sure what kind of "conflict" it's referring to, but apparently moving these font files to the trash as OS X prompted me to do broke a number of apps. Should I report this as a bug?
    Thanks for the ideas!

  • Help needed. Lightroom 6 doesn't launch after install

I'm a Photography plan subscriber and just upgraded my copy of LR from 5.7.1 to 6.0 through the Creative Cloud Application. Unfortunately, when I click on the Lightroom shortcut on the windows desktop or when I attempt to launch Lightroom 6.0 from the file menu directly, nothing happens, i.e. Lightroom does not launch and does not show up as a running application in the task manager). I've tried uninistalling and reinstalling Lightroom 6.0 and rebooting the computer but neither of these solves the problem. Lightroom 6 will not launch or run. Is anyone else having this problem or does anyone know what I can do to get Lightroom 6.0 to run?

ha, i found help in this thread: LR CC 2015 is crashing after install on Yosemite 10.10.3
i just needed to log out of my account in the creative cloud app, log back in and everything started working again!

  • Sampletank 2.5 won't launch after installing Logic update 9.1.7

After installing 9.1.7 update, my Sampletank 2.5 XL will not launch.  Contacted IK Multimedia to troubleshoot, they pointed the finger back at Apple.  ????

What OS are you on? I just checked it in SN 10.6.8 and Logic 9.1.7 64 bit and it opened fine in the 32bit bridge.

  • Lightroom 2 won't launch after install

After installing onto an XP 32-bit machine that already had Lightroom 2 Beta running, Lightroom 2 now refuses to launch. It is an upgrade version loaded from disc but has killed off all the other versions, too.
I have un-installed and re-installed repeatedly - rebooting every time - to no avail. Even a new install of Lightroom 1 won't launch - which makes me wonder if there is a rogue file from the Beta version that needs a serious talking to.
The computer shows the application as correctly installed but it simply won't launch.
    What to do?

    Thanks Lee
Version 2 and Beta preference files no longer exist after uninstalling and V1.0 still refuses to launch even after removing its preferences.
Could there be something in the registry that needs a kick?

  • Failure to launch after purchasing subscription and installing.

I downloaded the Acrobat Pro trial on my laptop and it works file.  I purchased the monthly subscription, installed it on my MAC desktop, and it fails to launch. How can this be repaired? I saw a similar question with no answer.  Does Adobe offer any real technical support for their products besides these forums?

    Hi,
    Please try re-activating the Acrobat.
    Go to Help -> Deactivate.
    Relaunch
    Help -> Activate.
See if that makes any difference.

  • FCE4 will not launch after install

    Hi All,
I have read through the forums and haven't seen my exact problem discussed, so I thought I'd throw it out there.
I just installed FCE4 on my iMac (2009 model), Snow Leopard 10.6.1, and I cannot get it to launch. Not even once. Other threads discuss a "launch once, then fail" problem. That's not what's happening here. This is a failure on first launch. When I click the icon, the splash screen appears, the FCE menu bar appears across the top of the screen, the info in the splash screen says it's loading various filters, widgets, and thingies. Then the splash screen and menu bar disappear and return me to my desktop. No error message, it just quits and goes away...
    I have repaired permissions.
I have deleted and reinstalled the program.
I tried to delete the pref file, but because I have never been able to successfully launch the program, it doesn't exist yet.
I have tried creating other user accounts as talked about in other threads. Same problem.
I spoke to Apple Tech Support yesterday and after an hour or so, the best they could do was "Reformat your hard drive and do a clean OS install, then try it." I am trying to avoid that if possible. I have a current Time Machine backup, but am afraid I will screw something up.
Has anyone experienced this, or solved this problem.
BTW, I did an install on my MBP and it works fine so the media is good.
    Thanks in advance!

I did the update to Snow Leopard.
I am not an admin user, however, I have tried installing as Admin, and on my standard account with Admin verification.
I looked for the preference file in library/preferences, there is nothing related to FCE4 there. There is a FCE4 folder in that directory it has no pref files. it did have a .obj(?) file, which I trashed per another thread's suggestion.
I don't think the program has ever gotten far enough to create the pref files.
I may have to do a clean install, but I was hoping someone would have a magic bullet.
I guess I may get to see if Time Machine really works....

  • FCP won't launch after install

Please help! I just got a shiny new 12-core MacPro and installed Final Cut Studio 2. I am unable to launch FCP at all now after the install. From everything I've read in the forums, it should be compatible with Snow Leopard.

  • Adobe Reader XI fails to launch after Install (Solution)

Earlier this week (5/29), I upgraded to Adobe Reader XI on Windows 7, and I experienced complete failure of the application to launch. Reinstalls were attempted as well as the Adobe Reader cleaning tools, but those processes had no effect. After doing some digging, I found the following error entries in the Windows Event Viewer:
Faulting application name: Eula.exe, version: 11.0.0.379, time stamp: 0x505fc5b0
Faulting module name: nvdxgiwrap.dll, version: 8.17.12.6696, time stamp: 0x4d4a29db
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x0000282a
    Faulting process id: 0x22f0
    Faulting application start time: 0x01ce5e2f79ed2056
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\Eula.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\CoProcManager\nvdxgiwrap.dll
    Report Id: b7a70181-ca22-11e2-a1d5-b9e8c6ec20d2
This was triggered every time the application was started (either by opening a PDF file or manually starting the application). The culprit here is another executable that is apparently being ran by Adobe Reader XI  called Eula.exe. This executable is exactly what you would expect it to be. It displays a End User License Agreement, but apparently does so poorly. To fix the issue, go to the directory indicated in your Windows Event Viewer error message (in the above it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, which is located next to "Faulting application path:" and open the Eula.exe application manually.
Read the EULA, agree to it, and you will be able to open Adobe Reader.

    Hi Inayal,
That message was from May 31, 2013, several months ago. That log entry no longer exists in my eventvwr. However, I did post the specific error message above, which showed me which application the Adobe Reader was trying to launch but failed, and that is how I figured out which application was holding up Adobe Reader. From what I remember, this is the only message that displayed in the eventvwr regarding Adobe Reader.
Yes, I do have an NVIDIA driver (NVIDIA NVS 4200M). Driver version is 9.18.13.1100 (1/10/2013). However, what I believe you're seeing here is an "Access Denied" failure (code 5) which is returned by CreateProcess in the Windows API. The typical cause of an Access Denied failure is not having both read and execute permissions for the directory/executable you are trying to launch. I would check the code where you are calling CreateProcess or CreateProcessA (if this is C++, if it's something else, then that function is likely calling CreateProcess or CreateProcessA) and make sure you are getting the appropriate elevation to start the application from the Program Files directory. My best guess is that this ShellExecute is running into problems inserted by Windows Vista/7/etc. through a technology called UAC. In order to run this other executable from a system directory (Program Files), you will probably have to ask for "runas" permissions which will prompt the user to elevate your permissions to execute another system executable (this is the user that owns the EULA executable on my machine).
You can read more about User Account Control here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control
Here's an example of using the "runas" verb with ShellExecute to run another executable and prompt the user for permission to execute another System executable:
In a native Win32 application the same "runas" verb can be added to a ShellExecute() or ShellExecuteEx() call.
    ShellExecute(hwnd, "runas", "C:\\Windows\\Notepad.exe", 0, 0, SW_SHOWNORMAL);
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    James

  • CS4 Apps not launching after install

    Hi,
I have an imac running OSX 10.5.6, with CS2 installed on it. This morning I received my CS4 upgrade discs. The installation ran without a problem. I opened CS4 Photoshop with no problem, then I opened CS4 Acrobat...a window popped up asking for a serial number (odd I thought) so I put in my CS4 serial number, but it didn't work. I decided to restart the machine. After restart none of the apps would launch, they appear in the doc for a few seconds and then close up. Acrobat will launch briefly, but it asks for my computer password, after that it says I need to launch another CS 4 app bc it is part of a suite and acrobat closes. CS4 Bridge is the only app that will launch and stay opened. So with the exception of Bridge and Acrobat (which doesn't really open in the end) all the other apps just appear on the doc for a few secs and then close.
I was on and off the phone with tech support for about 6 hours, installing, uninstalling (CS2 and 4 using maccs3clean) making new user logins, using safe boot, more uninstalling and reinstalling. Then they tell me they are out of ideas and will need to do research and since it's Friday, I won't hear from them again until Monday. Obviously this is a bit aggravating.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I'd almost say the discs were duds, but after that first installation I was at least able to open PS without a hitch, but the trouble seemed to start when I opened acrobat, and it asked for a serial number.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dov,
Thanks for chiming in. After several hours of phone time with  tech support, they had no answers and said that would have to get back to me Monday. But I’ve found the solution on a forum and it literally took me less than a minute to do. I removed the "FLEXnet Publisher" folder from the Preferences folder that’s within the Library folder. All CS4 apps opened right up without a problem.

  • RH 8 won't launch after install

I uninstalled my previous version of RH6 and downloaded the trial version of RH 8. I installed successfully, but when I try to launch RH HTML, nothing happens. I have IE7 and meet the minimum system requirements posted by Adobe.
Does anyone know what I should do? I've attempted to repair from the Add Programs option on the Control Panel, but still doesn't work. Attempted to uninstall RH8 and re-install, but still doesn't work.....
    Thanks!
    PThorne

    1) Tried starting RH8 using desktop icon, then tried program name of Task bar, then tried double-clicking the Robohtml.exe file....
    2) The hourglass displays for about 15 seconds and it appears to be doing something, but then nothing.
    3) Don't know what it will display in the Task Manager
    4) Not sure what you mean by "where was it installed"? on my hard drive in the Program directory
    5) No error messages displayed when installing nor when attempting to open
and I did re-boot after installation.

  • Safari doesn't launch after installing Mavericks

A couple of days ago, I installed OSX Mavericks, slow at the beggining then everybody goes OK, until I tried to open Safari, no way, I restarted the iMac with no success, the upper bar shows as open, at the side of the apple logo, can open the safari menu there, tried restore safari, unsuccessful too. The display goes a little dimm  when "launching" safari, the icon on the tool bar jumps 2 or 3 times and nothing else happens.

My solution: repair permissions didn't work either, so after downloading the last version of Google Chrome, I decided I will try my last attempt to launch Safari, I used the three fingers gesture to see the open browsers: Firefox, Chrome, and there it was Safari, I clicked on it, and opened right away, then I click the yellow button and it goes on the right of the tool bar, as usual. Tried a few times, with the same result, so Safari opened all the time, just  didn't showed, don't know why, hope this helps to someone else.

  • Applications won't launch after Installing Safari 3

I recently tried to download and install Safari 3 on Mac OS 10.3.9. After installation, Safari would not launch and neither will Mail. I have since gone back to Safari 1.3.2 but the Mail application still will not launch.
I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks so much!

    Hi gelatian1
your error message is actually very simple - but due to the long file paths, seems complex...
a file named webcore, located in
    /System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/WebCore.framew ork/Versions/A/
is telling your mac to find something in a file named javascriptcore which is located in
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaScriptCore.framework/Versions/A/
and it can't find what it's looking for....because one or other of the files ( never known it to be both ) is corrupted somehow. ( note, this might not be the only problem you have, but it's the one your error refers to... )
Both these files are contained in the safari 3.1 update package.
    soooo, you can either...
1: try downloading the diskimage of Safari 3.1 update for leopard & running it again, hoping that fixes things.
2: try running softwareupdate from the Terminal ( I believe that this bypasses the need for the files which stop you from running Software update normally ) . softwareupdate -l then enter will give a list of the updates that Apple think you need....... softwareupdate -i -a installs all updates that Apple think you need.
3: identify which of the files I first mentioned is at fault & perhaps use Pacifist to extract it from the update package & then place the damaged file manually. hoping that it's the only one.... I don't know if Pacifist works with Leopard update packages... I usually use something called UnPkg, which doesn't recognise the safari 3.1 Leopard package I downloaded , edit - I tried Pacifist & that wouldn't work either for me
Think I'd try 1: first; keeping the dmg in case you need it again.
This applies for you, running Leopard - anyone with 10.3.9 should ignore the above.
