HP Trap Monitor taking a lot of resources

I have a color laserjet 1312nfi. I looked at my activity monitor and noticed "Trap Monitor" taking about 350mb of memory. I killed it, launched some hp programs and printed again, but it hasn't come back. Does anyone know what Trap Monitor is and what I can do to prevent it from coming back in the future?

Hello the:
Direct answer to both of your questions - no. However, unless you are having some sort of performance problem, why do you care? You did not indicate why you were looking at the activity monitor (which should be, IMHO, used only when there is some sort of performance issue).

  • Mail consumes a lot of resources making the os unusable

I'm having a weird problem with Apple Mail: After launching, the program rapidly starts taking a lot of the system resources making it impossible to run any other program.
CPU utilization is very high, the Mail process takes around 2.5 Gb of RAM (real memory) and over 20 Gb of virtual memory.
The only thing Mail appears to be doing is updating it's cache.
What could be wrong? Besides using another mail client, what are my options?
    Thanks.

    Hi eroussel,
I'd suggest to try the following for starters:
When launching Mail.app, try opening the mail activity monitor by going to Window --> Activity, or command-0. It should show you some detailed information on if anything is happening in the background in regards to talking to your mail server, smtp server, etc.
As Linc Davis said, try booting in Safe Mode and see if the same thing happens.
If the same thing happens in Safe Mode, try deleting the mail account (assuming you only have one) and re-create it again using the settings from your mail provider. Be sure to backup your computer first!!
While doing all of this, leave the Activity monitor up from both Mail.app and the Mac OS X system Activity Monitor.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

  • Background task taking a lot of time to execute

    Hi,
There is a background task in my workflow which is taking a lot of time to execute.
I have tested it in dialog mode.. and it works fine.. takes just 2 mins.
Only when the task is executed from background.. it takes about 10 mins.
Is this a config problem? How do I check if it is so?

you could try activating a trace (sql) and see what the differences are,.
you could check if maybe user parameters are influencing this. Or ask your basis team if there are a lot of differences between syystem users and dialog users in terms of resource allocation.
Did you find anything different whilst debugging it?
    Kind regards, Rob Dielemans

  • Generic Extraction : Taking a lot of time

    HI Experts
I have created ZKONV a generic extracter which is a copy of KONV table. It has around 16,00,000 records .When I´m pulling the data in to ODS it is taking a lot of time. it is taking around 5+ hours to load the data. Is there anything wrong with my Datasource why it is taking so much of time.
    Kindly provide some inputs
    Thanks
    NLN

    Hi Lakshminarayana
You got to check couple of things.
First goto the source system and see, how long the extract program is running. The long time may be due to poor source system performance or huge processing at the BW system side. If the job in the source system is running for a long time, then check the source system resource. Build proper index on the mentioned table and see whether it has improved the performance. You can ask the basis people for the SQL trace and they let u know what kindof indexes u can build on the tables.
If the processing is taking more time, then u have to imrpove the start/update routine in the BW side. Please let us know, where exactly u have the problem. Then we can think of resolving it.

If you want to be able to access your entire music library from iCloud, you'll have to subscribe to iTunes Match (http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/).  Music purchased from the iTunes store is already in iCloud as it can be redownloaded at any time (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

  • Creating SNMP Trap Monitors in 2012 R2

    Hello,
For the past week or so  I have been attempting to create a MP for my company's UPSs to be monitored in SCOM 2012 R2. I have created a custom MP with custom datasources and objects. All seems to go according to the plan until I attempt to create a SNMP
Trap monitor for those objects. I am able to verify that the device is discovered and is sending the traps successfully with a view. The problem seems to lie within the setup of the monitor. I have followed the steps as much as I can from this page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh563870.aspx
to create a monitor that will be triggered by an incoming trap saying the UPS is on Battery Power.
This is the initial or trigger event information received by SCOM:

I tried the following things while attempting to troubleshoot this issue:
    Leaving  First
    SnmpTrapProvider and Second
SnmpTrapProvider blank while creating the monitor.
Adding "" and also '' around the value as it is a string and perhaps that was the cause.
Changing the First and Second SNMPTrapProvider to .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.4.1.0 since that is the specific OID I am looking for the value of.
Reading every page of the internet and bashing my head on the keyboard.
I am guessing that the issue will reside in the the monitor creation and definition, but I have not found anything that clearly describes how to fill out the SNMP Trap Monitor wizard given the trap info. Especially since the trap I am receiving does
not seem to contain the usual OID with a common Int or string value.  Hopefully someone can provide assistance as I am nearing my wits end with this problem.

Firstly, thank you Michael Skov, knowing that the First and Second SnmpTrapProvider or <FirstOIDProps> in the xml, needed to be blank got me pointed in the right direction. I figured I would come back and share my final working code snippet in case
others run across a similar issue.

  • Report RSXMB_RESTART_MESSAGES needs a lot of resources

    Hi,
we are using PI 7, SPS9.
When we have a heavy load in XI, we are getting sometimes JavaNullPointer-Exceptions in Java-mappings, so we have to restart these messages - no problem!
There is the report RSXMB_RESTART_MESSAGES to restart failed messages, but when I defined it as a job (every 1 hr) and during this time we have a lot of messages (but only some are failed), the job never ends and it needs a lot of resources!
In the queues I can see a lot of entries made by the report.
Our report still have the field "max restarts" and I entered 5 restarts!
    What can I do?
    Thanks a lot!
    regards
    Wolfgang Hummel

    Hi Sandro,
    thanx for your answer.
This is a test system and at the moment I just defined jobs for deleting and not for archiving.
My problem is, that we have a sender with thousands of messages via the same interface for the same receiver and sometimes a message failed ('cause of NullPointerException in java mapping).
To define a filter in the report RSXMB_RESTART_MESSAGES is no solution 'cause the filter cannot reduce the number of messages (it's always thousands of messages).
When the job starts during less traffic, I don't have any problems - it's just a problem during heavy traffic.
    regards

  • HP Trap Monitor

What is HP Trap Monitor and do I need it? I have an Officejet 6500A and a Pro 8000, both on a wired network (The 6500a is wired only, the 8000 is wireless but I couldn't get it configured so just plugged it in). All Macs on the network (2) are running OS 10.6.8 with current drivers.
When I restart my MacBook Pro it tells me HP Trap Monitor does not have proper security settings to run.
Can I just delete it or move it out of the "Startup Items" folder?

  • Trap monitor?

I finally decided to install Leopard (successfully enough that I'm posting this from the computer I just installed it on), and got the error "Trap monitor unexpectedly quit" when the installation was done. I had walked away while it was installing, so don't know if anything else led up to this, but it kept reappearing after I clicked "relaunch" and only went away when I told it to ignore it. So, three related questions:
    1) What IS a Trap monitor?
    2) Is it something important, or just an accessory I can safely function without?
    3) If it's important, how do I fix whatever it is that's crashing? (Or...If it's not important, can I just trash it so I stop getting this error, and where do I find it?)
I'll hold off on setting up Time Machine until I know if this is something that's going to require another installation so I don't lose my backup of my old files on the external drive. Hopefully this is something minor (keeping fingers crossed!)

First rule for using these forums is to search them. A search for *trap monitor* brings up http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5817251

    Hi Jack,
you are having morethan 7lack records in z table. it is not good practice fetching all the records into internal table and restricting with where clause in loop statement.
I hope you already created secondary index combination of primary key.
check you select query fetching records based on index you have created in ST05.
