HP TrueVision HD FIX

Hi there guys.
I have seen so many people with a malfunctioning webcam in their HP laptop, and I also had this problem. But, after a lot of trying i have found a fix to get the TrueVision HD webcam back to work! Here it is:
I extracted one folder from SP34746, which is a webcam driver and firmware update. Since running the normal setup didn't work, I decided to try things myself. Eventually, one setup fixed everything. The folder is in a rar on my dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yb516i7c4a9txps/TrueVisionHD_Fix.rar
I hope this works for you guys too. At least it worked at my place!
Best of luck,

  • HP Envy dv4 Windows 8- HP TrueVision HD Webcam not working or showing up in device manager

The subject is fairly self explanatory, I am using a HP Envy dv4 on Windows 8 and trying to use the 'HP TrueVision HD ' Webcam which is not working. When I went to find it in the device manager it was not present. I have restarted my computer already.
    Thanks

    Hey @kleinhansjy ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the webcam in your ENVY dv4 notebook is not working.
Can you tell me if the webcam worked previously, has never worked, or stopped working after updating to Windows 8 (if the notebook did not come with Windows 8 pre-installed).
It would also help to know which exact notebook model you have. For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
While I await your answers please try following these troubleshooting guides:
    Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 8).
Fixing Webcam After Changing the Operating System.
Some of the steps may not apply if the webcam is not detected in Device Manager. You may need to show the hidden devices by clicking View > Show hidden devices. You might find the webcam is listed as an Unknown device in the Other devices category.
I look forward to your reply!

  • Hp TrueVision HD web cam does not work. The light will come on but no image appears in the window.

    Hi.
I have an HP Pavilion dv7 6178us Entertainment PC I just bought it last week. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64 bits.
The problem I have is that yesterday I install Skype in the computer and realized that the HP TrueVision HD web cam does not work. The light right next to the web cam will light up but no image will appear on the screen.
I have checked the software that  I have in the computer for the webcam and the program is CyberLink YouCam BE version 3.5.
But the web cam does not work. The light right next to it will turn on when I activate Cyberlink, Skype or Messenger but no actual image will come out in computer screen. The computer is fully updated BIOS, Windows 7 and HP.
But the web cam is not working. Could you help me fix this problem?
    Best regards:
    JEIO71

    I have a pavilion dv6 notepad. it's about a year old.
about a month ago internal webcam truevision hd stop working.
Called hp tech. they sent a box for me to ship the laptop.
they hp tech attempted to correct the problem via internet
    did not work.
wanted me to do a restore to factory setting i stopped him there.
    Webcam detected in device manager.
the webcam light come on but no image.
I actually see the back drop through the image space.
    running windows 7, fully updated.
I found many comments on the web about the webcam connector disconnecting.
But if it was the case with my computer, the webcam would not be detected.
Many other comments suggests to do a restore to factory setting but \i read also that
    does not work often.
I read many comments where disappointed clients believe hp should update
the software but the driver is actually microsoft dating back to june 2006.
Is it possible it's  a hardware problem, ie webcam is burned out.
I have received a box to sent it and know they will do a system restore.
Don't feel to go that way.
Many comments refers to hp making an effort to get a driver update.
ps I decided to purchase a logitech webcam, works perfectly.
What else can I do to fix this problem.
Can hp send me another internal webcam.

  • Why will my HP TrueVision HD webcam work for like 3 minutes in a somewhat dark room?

When I use skype, the webcam truevision works for only like a minute when using enough of the light source round me.  After that minute is up te screen fades to darkness and I cant see anything.  How can I fix this so that it just stays steady?

I understand that your notebook computer's webcam works for only 3 minutes, and that it fades to darkness soon afterward. I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To return the functionality of your notebook's webcam, I recommend following the steps in this document on Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 8).

  • HP TRUEVISION HD/YOUCAM WEBCAM: BLACK/DARK IMAGES. EXPOSURE SLIDE REVERTS BACK TO -9

    Hello,
    I use a HP Pavilion dv6 -  LK968EA Notebook PC with Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
The Youcam 3.5 shows a BLACK screen. It worked perfectly when I first got the laptop last year, but all of a sudden, it just got dark. It shows a very faint dark silhouette when I am in the sun, and It does NOT show any image when I am under a halogen lamp or in a room flooded with 4 double fluorescent lamps.
I have not touched the settings. But when I compared the settings with that of a friend’s, I saw that the exposure setting on his HP TrueVision HD/Youcam 3.5 was -2, while mine was -9.
I moved it to -2, and nothing changed. So I clicked “apply” and “ok” and still NOTHING CHANGED.
Someone said I should move the exposure slide to -2, tick “low light compensation” and tick “auto” next to the exposure slide, then just click only “ok”. I did ALL that and nothing happened. I repeated these steps and clicked “apply” and still NOTHING CHANGED.
I ticked “auto-lighting” and still nothing happened.
THE EXPOSURE SLIDE DOES NOT REMAIN AT -5 OR -2. IT KEEPS REVERTING BACK TO -9, EVEN THOUGH I ADJUST IT AND CLICK "APPLY" AND/OR "OK". AS SUCH THE IMAGE QUALITY IS STILL BLACK. Clicking "Auto-lighting" does NOT change anything.
    THAT IS THE PROBLEM.
KINDLY PROVIDE ASSISTANCE ALONG THAT LINE.

Exactly the same issue. The exposure setting won't change. It's not even that it doesn't save, as you look at the preview screen, all of the video proc amp setting change live, but when you get onto exposure, it does nothing. And then it doesn't save.
So this issue has been floating around for about 3 years and nothing has come to light to fix it.

  • HP TrueVision HD webcam stopped working

I have a compaq with a built-in hp truevision hd webcam that suddenly just stopped working yesterday.
I first noticed when I was setting up my live stream. In order to active my cam I had to open the software (which is cyberlink youcam), but when I clicked to open it it just did nothing. The software refused to open, no matter what I did. So I updated the software and drivers, thinking that might be the issue. But it just went downhill from there.
When I open the software it now gives me a message that says
"YouCam cannot connect to your webcam ( HP TrueVision HD ). Try selecting another capture device within settings , or close any applications that may be using this webcam and then restart "YouCam".
I tried restarting my laptop several times, but this message pops up every time. I have carefully looked at the running processes and I have done an extra scan for viruses, only to find that there is no way anything else might be using my webcam.
Device manager shows that my webcam is connected and that my drivers should be working properly.
To make sure the problem wasn't YouCam I tried calling someone on skype and using different software. Both showed the exact same thing. I tried getting the front of my screen off and pushing the connector a bit. That didn't help either.
I have noticed lately that my cam would sometimes keep the little light on for a few more minutes after I shut down the software. My laptop can be a bit slow sometimes, so I don't know if that related to anything though.
My laptop is a little over 2 years old now. I don't know what model it is, but it came with windows 8. I currently have windows 7 installed on it.
    It's an intel core i3 2.2GHZ, 4GB RAM.

  • TrueVision HD Webcam help

I have an Ultrabook Envy with a TrueVision HD built in webcam. Recently, I haven't been able to turn on the web cam at all. For example, skype tries to turn it on but it constantly makes the USB port plugging in and out sounds while the camera rapidly turns on and off with no image. I've tried disabling the USB Root Hubs and restarting and then enabling then (what I thought was the equivilant of plugging in and out for internat devices) but had no luck.
Any other ways I could fix this problem with my webcam?
Thank you for any suggestions you have!

    Hello @Caliginosity,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that you have not been able to power on the webcam for your notebook computer, and that disabling the USB Root Hubs does not resolve this. Was there a point in time when the webcam was working? Did you install any new software to your computer recently? I would be happy to help you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer. Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number. In addition, it will also help if you indicate which operating system you are using; and whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit. The more information you can provide, the better!
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Please re-post with the necessary information, this way I will be able to research this further for you. I look forward to your reply!
    Cheers!

  • Truevision HD Camera randomly turns off

I'm currently having major issues with the Truevision Camera in the laptop. It randomly turns off, which is both annoying, and forces the software i use to take tests to restart. It just started happening this week, and I'de hope it's somethign easy to fix.

  • No HP TrueVision HD drivers instailed

I have no drivers installed for my webcam and I did not delete them. I have tried factory resteting my computer and they aren't restored. I want through device manger to see the status of this device and it says No drivers are installed for this device.  And my friend with the same laptop did not have these drivers either so its not just me.
I have also tried HP recovery manager and there is no drivers on the list for a web cam.
Please provide me with a link to the drivers for the HP TrueVision HD NOT Cyberlink YouCam, I ready have this program.
    Thanks,
    Amanda

    @mizuki-uchiha ,
Thank you for posting back.  In this case you will not see a driver for the web cam.
The driver is put through in most cases with the software for the webcam.
    Cyberlink YouCam Software
Now if you run the install and it is not found then one of two things is going on.
    1) The connection cable going to the cam and mic have come loose.
    2) The cam is no longer functioning and needs to be repaired.
Here is the link to your maintenance and repair manual.  If you feel comfortable in doing this try and see if you cable has come loos at the cam or at the connection on the motherboard.

  • How can I activate my HP TrueVision webcam (HP Envy dv7; Windows 8)

I'm really losing my patience here. My laptop is brand new. I remember the first time I started it I clicked on CyberLink YouCam and the camera worked. I even took a picture with it.
Since then I am trying to activate the webcam and it is not working. I wanted to Videochat on Skype but the webcam was not activated so there was no webcam option.
I read that if you go on Facebook and click on "Change Profile Picture" and then "Take Picture" it activates the webcam, but not in my case.
When I start CyberLink YouCam it says that there was no webcam found and if I have to activate it if I have one.
So here is my question: How do I activate the webcam? Please, just give me the instructions on how that works. What button combination I have to press or whatever.
I have the HP Envy dv7-7202eg with Windows 8. Bought and used in Austria, if that information makes a difference :-)
    This question was solved.

If the webcam worked before, it may be "stuck".  If that is the case, then a Reset may kick it all free and you will be "back in business" in a couple of minutes.  If the Reset does not fix it, there are a few more options.  Stop when it works.
At the bottom is a Help Guide that goes over the testing and options that you have available from the software side to help you solve the problem.
This is a brand new system; if all else fails, please do call HP and ask for help!  Just because the webcam worked before does not mean it works now.  These little webcams are delicate and they can break - the wires are tiny and they can be crushed, bent, or broken at any time.  If the stubborn webcam won't work, Call HP and ask for help.  Something may have been missed or the little beast may be broken!

when i check the cd drive in itunes i had gotten a 4220 error, cnet advised to download a free error fixer, however, this error fixer gave me and enduser message, so that didn't work.
the diagnostic for the cd burner read that i had to put in a formatted disc with content so i did and there are the results of that were that it read the cd and that the 4220 errir code was encountered last time there was an attempt to burn.
and 'could not open cd handler 32. there is a problem with the installation of the drive in windows or the drive contains a copyprotected cd.

    please help!

I too have only recently encountered this problem. I have been able to burn disks before but it keeps making all these weird sounds. It might be a hardware problem but the fact that everything else that uses a disk works I doubt it.
