HP truevision HD - VERY DARK PICTURES

Hey, i just bought my HP pavilion dv6-6135dx 4 weeks ago at new hampshire. no here's what happened.
So 2 weeks in after i got my hp pavilion laptop i had encountered a virus, after getting this virus i had to reinstall windows 7
by restarting the computer and pressing f11 to load up hp system restore. After that i went on the support and drivers page
and reinstalled all the drivers but something strange happened after i installed the bios update, i had found out that my
webcam had became very very dark.
after doing so i went on cyberlink youcam and the screen appeared very dark, i could see my self but it was a black silhoutte
i begin playing around with the light settings but nothing happened. it was still the same.
I even tried another webcam program.
That didn't work.
So then i tried disabling the webcam software and enabling it again. But the picture was still the same
AFTER THAT i uninstalled the HD truvision driver and installed it back again
BUT STILL nothing changed. I've went on over 10 other forums which discussed this same issue but all of them
simply suggested to change the lighting and brightness settings, which as you have seen have not work.
To add on to this problem i don't think i will be able to return this laptop because it is way pass the return date
but im still not sure if i can do that since i don't have the bus because as i have mentioned i bought this from
new hampshire for vacation and brought it back with me to seattle, and i couldn't bring the box with me so i had to
throw it away and the laptop is still on warranty but when i called HP tech support they said there not sure if i can
have this laptop replace because i didn't buy this laptop directly from the hp website but instead at best buy.
VERY VERY CONFUSING ISSUE, ANY SUGGESTIONS TO FIX THIS?
Remeber i went to 10 other forums so changing the brightness will not work lol and i had pictures.....

guys i finally found out the fix for it!!! i guess we all would have had changed the brightness contrast exposure for the betterment, but it really screws the settings!!! will tell you the steps.. i use youcam 3.5 so just follow my instructions!!!
1. open youcam
2. click enhance the current video image (6th icon from top, just next to the video image appears, place ur pointer over the icons for few secs to know what it is)
3. Click advanced
4. under video proc amp slide the backlight comp to 1 or 2 (doesnt matter )
5, now click the camera control tab
6. click default, then u could see only exposure visible or editable , now just tick the "auto" box !!! click ok.
and now everything is back!!! hope this helps out, and dont screw up with the settings again!!! thank you

  • Very dark picture with built-in iSight

    Hi,
with my 3 month old intel iMac it seems that the picture I get with the built-in iSight is much darker than with my previous white iMac G5 with built-in iSight.
My new iMac sits in the very same place as my previous iMac G5, yet the picture quality in terms of brightness is only mediocre.
Is there a way for me to adjust the settings for my iSight?
Has anybody else noticed this? Could it be a hardware problem?
    Thank you,
    Torsten

Have you closed and opened Photo Booth? This is often all that is required.
    This also can help:
Open the iChat application>video preview. If it is dark as well select:
iChat>change my picture>take a snap shot. Close iChat and open Photo Booth.
I haven't found the sniper solution yet, it doesn't happen very often.

  • My IPhone 5C takes very dark pictures even in bright noon sunshine, I'm really disappointed as the camera was a big reason I chose it. Anyone else experiencing difficulties ?

I picked up a new IPhone 5C. The camera seems poor, my pictures are extremely dark even in bright, sunny conditions. I tried using the flash but it actually does very little. I wondered if anyone else has encountered this problem.

I know this email is confusing and really hard to understand...perhaps now you will know how i've been feeling--lost and confused with all the mis-information, with a hit and miss phone, and out of time with all the 1 1/2 hr to 2 hrs EACH wasted on this issue.
On top of all this, I can't even find out how to file a complaint with anyone higher up than Customer Service.
I hate to tell you this, but you didn't write an email. You wrote a discussion post on the Verizon Wireless Community forum which is a public peer to peer forum. Unfortunately since you didn't mark your post as a question, the VZW reps that roam this community won't ever see your post. Before you re-post it, don't. Duplicate posts get removed from the community.
I see there were several missteps both by the reps and yourself in your post. First you should have insisted on returning the phone within the 14 day return policy period. Second which Samsung Galaxy mini model did you purchase? The S3 mini or the S4 mini? Did you do any research prior to deciding on this device. The reps at that time deflected the easiest course of action, by trying to get you to replace the phone under insurance instead of returning the phone. The Early Edge payment option requires the current phone on the line using the early Edge must be returned to Verizon Wireless. Did you once considered going to a third party site like Swappa to purchase a gently used device for your daughter?

  • Very dark picture ichat

Alright, does anyone know why after two years of using ichat with basically no problems when I connected with my Dad two day ago it looked like he was sitting in a room with no lights on? I am familiar with the view I should see so could make out the very vague ceiling light and could see my Dad's head passing in front of it but basically it was like lights out. Anybody experience this before? He has Tiger 10.4 and I am using Mac os x 10.3. The version of ichat I have is 2.1.3 ( v154 ) not sure what my Dad has.

An Add-On in iChat terms is a install of a additional software pack that alters some of the functions of iChat. Essentially Plug-ins.
iGlasses is here It is made by Ecamm who make several iChat add-ons to very good effect.
In Fact the iGlasses one adds to the OS and camera control and can be effective in several dozen other apps as well.
As you can see by the link it does flip the pic if you need it and brighten and alter it in different ways.

A thought came to me reading the other thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1008858
If he goes to Users/(his account)/Library/Preferences and deletes the com.apple.ichat.plist file and restarts iChat then the camera details are read again to recreate the .plist
If he does remove any Add-ons (iChatUSBCam is another) then the .plist will need to removed and iChat restarted anyway.
Does he remember changing any camera setting in any other application such as the Compression rate in iMovie or WebcamTweaker ?

  • Photosmart 1215 printing pictures very dark

My Photosmart 1215, which I've had for several years, has started to print my pictures very dark and not true to the picture displayed on my screen.  This is a recent development in the past two months.  I've always had beautiful pictures from it.
The printer has also started to eat the end of the printed paper if I don't remove it from the printer the second it finishes printing.

I too have the same printer, and the same problem.
I have scanned the net, hoping to find an answer to the problem.
I have changed the settings on my printer to RGB + 2.2 Gamma.  This does brighten the printed photo, to a degree.
But in doing so, losing some good colour and contrast.
Fabulous printer, printing fabulous colour. But not very good at reproducing what I am looking at on my monitor.
Hope some one can give you and I some useful answers!

  • Pictures Very Dark

Hello I am a father who takes pictures of his 4 kids, I am no where near a professional. That said, I have always used the Auto setting on the camera.  Up to 2 weeks ago, this worked perfectly fine.  In the last 2 weeks every other picture is very dark.  The ones that are not dark, are perfect.  So weird.  So dark i can not even use.  However I am 100% sure the flash is going off.  I am curious if one of my kids maybe touched a setting? Any Ideas? ThanksSteve

How about i just list the info, maybe that will work.   I can not thank you all enough for all this help! BAD:Camera:Canon EOS REBEL T3iLens:Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II

  • How to Recover a Dark Picture with a Heavy Color Cast

I just posted this article about how to recover a dark picture with a heavy
color cast using Lab Color mode in Photoshop. I hope it will be helpful to
    others.

None taken. I am unfamiliar with ACR and would love to see (compare) what it
could do with the sample PNG file in the article, and how much time it took.
The results I achieved in the article took only a few minutes to
complete--though as I mention below, it took more than a few minutes to get
to the point where I could do it in a few minutes.
I happened across a web site one day discussing the techniques in Margulis'
LAB Color book, which interested me enough to purchase it. I found the book
very enlightening and have seen incredible results using the techniques he
describes as applied to my various images. I've also ready his Professional
Photoshop book which focuses more on CMYK, and found many techniques in
    there just as enlightening.
Ultimately the tools and techniques used are irrelevant if you get the
results you want... but if you find one that works faster, easier or better,
then certainly you should employ it.
I have no problem working in RGB, CMYK or LAB and find benefits from each.
The particular sample image I used in the article was one that I've spent
(too much) time cleaning up in various ways and in various color spaces (or
combinations thereof). It became my "poster child" image to work on as I
continue to build my Photoshop skills. The approach I used in the article
was the one I found most to be the fasted with the most effective results.
The original was a 6MP JPG file. I reduced it to the size in the article and
then worked on that size for the remaineder of the article. The resutls are
    equivelant in the fullsize file.

  • Photos in iPhoto are suddenly VERY Dark

I have over 4,000 photos in my iPhoto library and up until a few days ago everything seemed to be working perfectly. But all of a sudden - literally one minute the application was open and everything was working fine and the next minute all my photos looked very dark. In video terminology, they all looked as though the "black was crushed." In other words, where there was once detail was now almost completely in shadow or dark. What would cause something like this to happen? Everything else on my Cinema Display looks fine… in other words I can open the same photo in Photoshop and the image looks the way it should. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I might add, that around the same time this happened, my second monitor, and older Apple 17" with the lucite legs, suddenly began displaying EVERYTHING on it slightly darker. I tried running color sync but that didn't seem to help. Repaired permissions. Ran Disk Warrior. Nothing. I just chalked that problem up to old age, but now I wonder if the two aren't somehow related.
    Thanks in advance.
    John

    John:
Do the photos display the same using another application, like Preview? If yes then boot into another account and view some of the same photos in Preview or a temp iPhoto library.
If the other account displays them OK then there may be some preference file in your primary account that is bad. Here's a way to week them out.
    Trouble Shooting Preferences in Tiger
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the application again and determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, go to the new Preferencess folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the *Don't Replace* button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Dark picture on projector but okay on the lap top?

I have problems with dark pictures when using Air Mac and a projector. Everything is okay on the lap top, but the pictures shown by the projector are very dark. Have anyone out there a solution for this problem.
I have talked to Apple support without getting any help.

    Helge-
Most projectors by default are set for PCs, which have a different gamma output from their monitors. You can do one of two things to fix the situation: 1) Change the gamma settings on your Mac by going to the Displays preference pane in System Preferences, choose the Color button near the top, and then either pick one of the pre-calibration settings that works best for your situation, or you can manually calibrate your laptop. 2) You can change the brightness and contrast of your projector (and if possible save the settings on there). The second method is probably best if you don't need to frequently share the projector.

  • Live! webcam - VERY dark image

We have a new Creative Live! webcam. The picture generated by this camera is VERY VERY dark. We've tried using the driver from the CD and from the Creative website; different versions of the Webcam Center software; manually adjusting brightness, contrast, gamma, image size and frames per second. The image is still very dark. What can be done to correct this problem? We never had this issue with our old Creative PD0040?webcam. Image sample is at: HERE
Message Edited by SimpleSimon on 01-30-2007 12:08 AM

    I have a similar situation:
Case - In very low light conditions, with auto exposure ON: if I set FPS at 30, I actually get about 20 and a dark image as if auto exposure wasn't working
Case 2 - In very low light conditions, with auto exposure ON: if I set FPS at 25 or less, I actually get about 5 but a very good image (auto exposure works dramatically well).
Case 3 - In very low light conditions, with auto exposure OFF: effecti've FPS matches whatever I set it at, but I get a very dark image
Case 4 - Now, in low to normal light conditions, regardless of auto exposure being ON or OFF, I can set FPS at 30, actually get 30 and a very good image (auto exposure works dramatically well).
I'm curious why auto exposure seems to play such an important role on frame rate and image quality, under very low light. Is exposure adjustment done at the camera or by software? I'm running a 3 ghz processor with lots of headroom.

  • Edited in LR 3 but printed in LR 4 produce very dark prints

Images I edited in LR 3 and printed in LR 4 all turn out very dark and off color. Images edited in LR 4 and printed from LR 4 print just fine. Can anyone offer me a solution to this issue?

    I have attached 3 photos.
When I took the photos I shot as both raw and jpeg. I have attached the following:
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5ebbdi4o3u14wk3/CZWB8wJcce/Grainy%20Photos?lst
      a.. the original raw photo
b.. the jpeg that came with it (as is out of the camera)
      c.. the final edited jpeg
d.. A screen print of the image uploaded to printing lab (It will look grainy around the hair line...but that's the problem)
I have played around a fair bit. All looks great in LR and when I get out of LR and open them up full screen out of windows explorer they look good too.
It was only when the bride complained about the blurriness, I then tried uploading the final high resolution file to RGB Digital Labs that you could see how bad they were.
Last night I was playing around and I tried uploading the jpeg straight out of the camera to RGB labs and that too was bad. So I am starting to think would it be the camera, but then again when they look so good after editing why would they look bad at print time. Photo was taken at f$ 1/200 shutter speed and ISO 320 (so it’s not like I didn’t have light) I had a flash as well
I think I am going to have a mental breakdown!!!
So far from what I have found to get the picture looking ok  Sharpness is “0”and luminance is set to 100 – so too extremes which just does not seem right, I have never had to do this before.
    Any help would be great
    Thanks
    Sara
