HP TRUEVISION HD/YOUCAM WEBCAM: BLACK/DARK IMAGES. EXPOSURE SLIDE REVERTS BACK TO -9

Hello,
I use a HP Pavilion dv6 -  LK968EA Notebook PC with Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
The Youcam 3.5 shows a BLACK screen. It worked perfectly when I first got the laptop last year, but all of a sudden, it just got dark. It shows a very faint dark silhouette when I am in the sun, and It does NOT show any image when I am under a halogen lamp or in a room flooded with 4 double fluorescent lamps.
I have not touched the settings. But when I compared the settings with that of a friend’s, I saw that the exposure setting on his HP TrueVision HD/Youcam 3.5 was -2, while mine was -9.
I moved it to -2, and nothing changed. So I clicked “apply” and “ok” and still NOTHING CHANGED.
Someone said I should move the exposure slide to -2, tick “low light compensation” and tick “auto” next to the exposure slide, then just click only “ok”. I did ALL that and nothing happened. I repeated these steps and clicked “apply” and still NOTHING CHANGED.
I ticked “auto-lighting” and still nothing happened.
THE EXPOSURE SLIDE DOES NOT REMAIN AT -5 OR -2. IT KEEPS REVERTING BACK TO -9, EVEN THOUGH I ADJUST IT AND CLICK "APPLY" AND/OR "OK". AS SUCH THE IMAGE QUALITY IS STILL BLACK. Clicking "Auto-lighting" does NOT change anything.
THAT IS THE PROBLEM.
KINDLY PROVIDE ASSISTANCE ALONG THAT LINE.

Exactly the same issue. The exposure setting won't change. It's not even that it doesn't save, as you look at the preview screen, all of the video proc amp setting change live, but when you get onto exposure, it does nothing. And then it doesn't save.
So this issue has been floating around for about 3 years and nothing has come to light to fix it.

  • Live! webcam - VERY dark image

We have a new Creative Live! webcam. The picture generated by this camera is VERY VERY dark. We've tried using the driver from the CD and from the Creative website; different versions of the Webcam Center software; manually adjusting brightness, contrast, gamma, image size and frames per second. The image is still very dark. What can be done to correct this problem? We never had this issue with our old Creative PD0040?webcam. Image sample is at: HERE

    I have a similar situation:
Case - In very low light conditions, with auto exposure ON: if I set FPS at 30, I actually get about 20 and a dark image as if auto exposure wasn't working
Case 2 - In very low light conditions, with auto exposure ON: if I set FPS at 25 or less, I actually get about 5 but a very good image (auto exposure works dramatically well).
Case 3 - In very low light conditions, with auto exposure OFF: effecti've FPS matches whatever I set it at, but I get a very dark image
Case 4 - Now, in low to normal light conditions, regardless of auto exposure being ON or OFF, I can set FPS at 30, actually get 30 and a very good image (auto exposure works dramatically well).
I'm curious why auto exposure seems to play such an important role on frame rate and image quality, under very low light. Is exposure adjustment done at the camera or by software? I'm running a 3 ghz processor with lots of headroom.

Just got the u300s after hearing so much about it. Webcam image is very dark and exposure button is not working. auto adjust doesnt help. Even iphone4 front camera has a better exposure control. Can anyone help if it is software or hardware problem. Very disappointing.

  • Ugly dark image: improper buffering at start of streaming?

When I open a URL for any of the videos I have uploaded to a Quicktime Streaming Server, invariably I get an ugly dark image --it looks kind of like a motion mask with edges enhanced. This may last a second or so, or may continue longer. If I go back to the start of the video, it will stream properly. If I go to some random place on the video, the video may look garbled for a moment --kind of like a double exposure-- then it will resolve itself but, especially with the highest bandwidth movies (747kbps) the audio synch will be off.
This seems to be a buffering problem. I see that in MakeRefMovieX there is a check option for preload media into RAM and Cache. However, the docs say that this is for the ENTIRE media, and I certainly don't want that.
What do I need to do so that my streaming movies buffer properly?

My video starts with a fade up from black. I added compression markers in FCP at the start, and at the beginning and end of the fade. This had no effect when I opened the URLs for the video files in QT Player. The files --alternates for various connection speeds-- reside in directory for the QTSS.
The problem goes away when I open the URL for the reference movie. (The reference movie resides on the html server, as it should despite what the Apple tutorial of reference movies says).

  • MacBook - Black & white image on TV

Please can somebody help with connecting my MacBook to a Sony trinitron TV
I have a new MacBook and I'm using the following set up to connect to a 5 year old Sony TV -
Apple mini-DVI to video converter into S-video lead connected to S-video to SCART adaptor - problem is that I only get a black & white image.
    Can anybody help = please?
    13" white MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi essman,
As S-Video cables send their chroma (colour) and luminance (brightness) signals separately it sounds as though the problem may be found either in your S-Video cable or in one of the S-Video connectors. If only the luminance pins/wire was working correctly your video signal would appear to be in black and white.
To ensure that the SCART adapter is not the problem however I would recommend testing with a composite video cable (also known as an RCA.) With that cable the entire video signal is sent over the one pin, so you either get video or you don't. If over that connection it's still black and white, I would say the blame lies with the SCART adapter.
    Hope this helps!

  • My Built-in Webcam has my image in a horizontal split screen!

My Built-in Webcam has my image in a horizontal split screen. How can I fix this???

Let me explain more - when I use skype for example, my image is displayed in a horizontal split screen. I have tried another chat product and the same thing happens - so it must be something to do with the built in camera or configuration of the camera. Would it be best to contact Apple about this? Will somebody have to get a spanner out to fix my quite new macbook pro? (3 months old). I teach languages online so I really depend on a decent image. Can anybody help me?

  • Dark images when creating a PDF in Frame 10

We're having an issue with dark images in the PDFs created from Framemaker files. I've been trying to solve it two different ways, but each solution seems to have it's own set of problems...
    1. When we print to PDF using a .ps file generated through Acrobat Distiller, our manuals print fine, but a large majority of the graphics are coming out WAY too dark, with some details being 100% illegible.
    2. I can take small documents and "Save as PDF," and the graphics come out fine. But when I try to do this with a large document (100-1,000 pages), Framemaker gives me the infamous "Framemaker has detected a serious problem and must quit" error and then crashes.
Anyone else seen this? I have the latest (I believe) 10.0.2.419 patch.

You might want to specify what kind of graphics are giving you problems.
Frame drawings or imported files? If imported, what file type? RGB or
    CMYK? Any spot colors?
The best graphics are EPS because FrameMaker passes them around the
Windows GDI unchanged and EPS files can retain spot colors, too. Other
types of graphics get passed through Windows GDI and converted to RGB
where the result can sometimes be astounding. In Save as PDF, what's the
setting for "Convert CMYK colors to RGB?"
Check also "GetLibraryColorRGBFromCMYK=" in maker.ini and change it from
    "Printing" to
"None". That seems to get the best results for having what you see on
screen match what ends up in the PDF.
There are also color management settings in your Distiller .joboptions
file that can affect the result. Usually, you want to set Settings>Edit
Adobe PDF Settings> Color> Color Management Policies to either "Leave
Color Unchanged" or "Tag only Images for Color Management."

  • Video noise in dark images

I have recently started seeing "snow" in dark images on my 15" MBP/Retina.  It started with a particular image type from a digital camera, but now it is doing with almost all dark images.

Have you calibrated the HD system in your lounge with something like
Amazon.com: Spears & Munsil High-Definition Benchmark Blu-ray Disc Edition [Blu-ray]: Stacey Spears, Don Munsil: Movies & TV
    or
Amazon.com: Digital Video Essentials: HD Basics [Blu-ray]: Joe Kane: Movies & TV?
If not, then do that before making any judgments.  I personally like the Spears & Munsil disc.

  • Why does my iPad have yellow like spots on the screen when the screen is on dark images.?

When I open dark images, my iPad has this yellow like spots around the screen next to the bezel.  It only happens when there is a dark screen like for instance when a YouTube video is loadeding or when I have dark pictures. Is this normal.? Or should I take it to the Apple Store.?

first of all was your ipad dropped on a hard floor or something if not then you should just take it to apple as that is not normal you should probably get the device replaced

  • My ipad screen is black / darker on the right side, but light on left.. What should I do? I try to reset it, but it can't workat all..

My ipad screen is black / darker on the right side, but light on left.. What should I do? I try to reset it, but it can't workat all..

I suggest that you take the MBP into an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.  There are liquid sensors inside and they should check if any have been activated.  This may give you a clue as to what you may expect regarding future reliability.
    Ciao.

  • My webcam went dark in the middle of taking a pic?

my webcam went dark in the middle of taking a pic?

Omg, same here, did you ever fix it? and how?

  • Pro-100 having photo problem what I see in monitor I get darker image.

I just bought this printer and I am trying to get familiarized, I am printing from CANON My image Garden, photoshop Element 11, from Canon power shot A1000, Canon rebel XTI, Windows printing media, I still get the same darker image, and like a film on top of the picture, tried to make lighter image still the same. Any body can help me?

I would discourage printing directly from the camera. Not that it is not possible but the quality is no where as good as you can make it if you have PSE or PS, LR4 or some such post software.
It is essential that your monitor shows what your printer is printing. Skip this step you can forget it. But you don't need any fancy equipment to accomplish it. D/L a color chart from the web and by trial and error you can get them really close. No difference than when we used to do it in the darkroom! A little time consuming but you can do it.
I suspect your camera and the printer are not calibrated to each other. It may not be possible to sync all three so my advise is go with your monitor and a post processing software.
I personally use CS6 with a Canon 9000 Mk II printer. I have two 27" monitors. I calibrated one monitor to the printer and than calibrated the second monitor to the first monitor. I usually have PS on monitor one and LR4 on the second one.

i did smc reset but didn't work. Efi has password there for i cant pv reset. Even i formated the ssd but I can't solve problem

If you have a monitor, connect it to that and see if a display appears.  If not, you will have to take the Mac into an Apple store or an AASP for evaluation and repair.
    Ciao.

  • [T440p, HD+] Autodimming of the screens backlight at dark images

I have an issue with the (HD+) display of my T440p.
It dims the background lighting gradually when I just view dark images (i.e. an editor with a dark color scheme like sublime: http://images.six.betanews.com/screenshots/1255718643-1.png). By doing this, it gets close to unreadable.
When I switch back so not so dark content, the screen gets brighter again - also rather slow.
I already switched off the adaptive brightness under the powersettings of Windows 8.1.
Did you also recognize such a behaviour or do you know how to fix it?
    Best Regards
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
If you have already disabled adaptive brightness in Power settings of Windows, try this.
Bring up the charms bar by moving the mouse to bottom right corner or Win+C.
Next, tap 'Settings' and now in the bottom right corner, tap Change PC Settings and then PC and devices. Under Power and sleep, turn off “Adjust my screen brightness automatically”.
Still if you find that your screen continues to automatically adjust brightness, please try the following as well.
Right click on the desktop and select "Graphics properties."  Now, select the "on battery" tab and turn off "Display Power Saving Technology.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.
