HP TX2 Auto Screen Rotation Windows 8

Just updated my newly purchased tX2 to Windows 8 Pro tonight and it runs amazing!  The only problem I have found that I cannot google and solve is the auto screen rotation.  When I rotate the screen and put it into tablet mode, the screen orientation does not change as it did on Vista or 7.  I figured I could just install the driver for the quick launch buttons on the side of the screen and manually change the screen rotation each time, but the Win. 7 drivers didn't install work, which I was dreading.  If anyone could help out with this, it would be great. Specs are below:
Windows 8 Pro (Did a full install and saved nothing)
TX2-1270US
4GB RAM
500GB HDD
All the other nuts and bolts can be found on the Spec page.  It's all factory.
Just another question while I am at it.  This is really stupid and just my OCD kicking in, but the current sticker on the inside of the laptop right under the keyboard is still the original Vista sticker.  Since I don't want to be adgitated by a disgraceful name everytime I use my PC, does anyone know where I can get a Win. 8 sticker like this.  Figured I would ask, if not I can always just remove the Vista sticker and have a "clean slate," pun intended
Thanks in advance!

I somehow fixed my own problem. Windows updates I guess... Try that if you are having the same problem.

  • Iconia Tab 8 W W1-810 suddenly stopped the auto screen rotation

Hi. I´m havving trouble with my Iconia Tab 8 W W1-810. It suddenly stopped the auto screen rotation and now I can´t find the "enable screen rotation" checkbox. I only get the chance to put it in landscape or portrait but not in auto rotation. How can I enable auto screen rotation again? I will very much appreciate your help.

Thank you, Justin! I tried that but, as I no longer had an automatic rotation checkbox, I couldn´t solve the problem. The solution came through the Acer Chat service. Acer technician Mukesh was very kind and patient, we tried every possible option but the auto rotation option was not available, the only way to get it back was to install the suggested drivers: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Platform%20Drivers/Platform%20Drivers_Intel_10.18.10.3643_W81x86_A.zip?acerid=635664922342452308&Step1=TABLET&Step2=ICONIATAB8W&Step3=W1-810&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6 After installing these drivers, I recovered the automatic rotation checkbox and could solve the problem. I am very happy that I could solve the problem and very pleased with Acer´s customer service. Thank you for your suggestion. Kind regards, María Inés.

  • Stream 7 (5709) Auto Screen Rotation not Working

What drivers or application is installed which enables the screen to rotate from landscape to portrait when the device is turned? My screen no longer rotates and I believe something may have inadvertently been uninstalled which enabled that feature. I've updated/installed all three packages available on the support site without luck?
    This question was solved.

All the drivers listed have since been re-introducted to the HP Stream 7 Downloads & Drivers site and are available for public download. THANK YOU HP support for enabling the customer to self-support. This is a great little device sor simple tasks.

  • Will turning off auto screen rotate save battery o...

Read this somewhere, want to confirm with someone knowledgeable. cheers.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and the world laughs louder :-)

not likely, if you keep rotating it it will increase the clock speed and load for a few seconds at a time but its not noticeable so turning it off won't really do much

  • Screen rotation not working since last update

I have had my galaxy s4 for almost a month and love it, but it recently had a software update and ever since the screen rotation is not working. The camera is always upside down. Occasionally if the screen rotates to landscape, it won't rotate back to portrait when I turn the phone back the other way. I have tried to restart the phone. I have unchecked and rechecked the auto screen rotate setting. Nothing fixes it. Any ideas as to what is causing this and how I can fix it?

Thank you Klue for responding, but when I followed your instructions, I could not find a setting for Gyroscopic calibration. I researched it further, and learned that the latest software update for the S4 eliminated this setting.  If anyone else has suggestions, please help! I can't post photos on social media because they are all upside down. Help please!!!!

  • NOKIA N95 8GB SCREEN ROTATE FEATURE

hello i just got my nokia n95 8gb, and in the manual on pg 95 it says the phone has a auto screen rotate feature under setting>General>personalisation>display>screen rotate
but there is no such setting in my phone??
I have V15 firmware. please help, thanks

No, when v20 is released into NSU it will be there. Just keep checking for it here. I'm sure when V20 comes out it will be big news.
Also I recommend you check what new "features" this v20 may have as you may want to stay in v15 if you don't want some of the "new features".

  • Thinkpad Twist with Windows 7 - screen rotation

So a client of mine bought the Twist with Windows 8 on it and really did not like windows 8 and asked me to repalce the install with Windows 7, wiping out the drives .... I managed to get all but 2 devices identified and install, one has an ID of PNP0C40 which is related to a button and the other one PNP0C60 is related to a convertable laptop display sensor.
The PNP0C60 is likely related to my problem, no screen rotation.
Is there a driver for this sensor that might work with Windows 7?
If the answer is, we do not support windows 7, could someone reccomend a forum where folks are trying to downgrade the Twist to 7? my searches come up with mostly amazon reviews.
Thanks, if anyone needs help with any of the other drivers for Win 7 on the Twist ... I'd love to help
    Ken

I was in the same scenario, my company bought a Twist for testing but we want Windows 7 because we can't train everyone on using Windows 8.
I finally found a project on SourceForge that seems to be working great.
    http://yeokhengmeng.com/2013/01/auto-rotate-screen
I had to install the ThinkVantage Active Protection System before the program would function.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014892
It's a simple install, you calibrate the different rotations of the laptop, read the README it will tell you how to get going, it takes 5 minutes.
I added it as a startup item for all users but I had to follow these instructions to get rid of a security prompt.

I've been testing it and it's almost better than using the built-in button because it's automatic.

  • Moving desktop icons with Yoga screen rotation and Windows 8

I have a Yoga 11s.  I have a bunch of desktop icon shortcuts and folders on my desktop as I rarely use the Windows 8 "tiles."  Unfortunately, when using the Yoga as a tablet, whenever the screen rotates, all my desktop shortcuts and folders move around.  Is there any way to get them to stay in place in Windows 8?  I realize that when one rotates the tablet around that the icons have to move around to accommodate the screen rotation, but when I rotate the screen back to the horizontal position, they don't return to the position they were in.
    Thanks!

I did get a potential solution over on a Windows 8 forum.  Unfortunately the solution doesn't stop the migration of the icons.  It only restores them to their original position with a few mouse clicks.  I have yet to find a solution that keeps the icons from moving in the first place.
I downloaded a program called Iconoid. When you first run the program, a little windows pops up.  You click on the positions tab, then put the dot in the selection that says "use relative positions for all resolutions."  You then hit the "save icon positions (relative)" button and now the program remembers where all of your icons are.
When you rotate the screen and all your icons get messed up, you open Iconoid (in systray for me), go to that same "positions" tab, then hit the "restore icon positions now."  That moves all the icons back to where they were.  You just have to make sure that if you change your icons on your desktop a lot, that you hit that "save icon positions (relative) button once in a while so the program gets updated icon positions.

  • Screen Rotation problem

Hi, my screen rotate does not work. I tried everything but... I think that sensor does not work properly because it doesn't matter that auto rotate is on .HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ???

You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

  • L220x SoftOSM screen rotation problem

I was showing off the screen rotation feature on the L220x but then found that it would not return to landscape orientation (embarrassing). I tried using the SoftOSM but the orientation button was greyed out. It had been OK before.
Then I remembered I had recently been prompted to download and install an update to the SoftOSM.
I uninstalled it and reinstalled the original version and at once the screen returned to landscape.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, I've got trouble with auto rotation with latest update of SoftOSM also. Auto rotation option is checked but greyed out. Doesn't auto rotate altough works fine when using hotkeys.
I had problems with SoftOSM before but then it was related to XP SP3. Could not rotate at all. I had to uninstall SP3 and restore my system to previous state. But ok - shame on Microsoft this time ...
So it worked all fine untill i updated SoftOSM yesterday, altough Windows update was running at same time so I don't really know who to blame ...
I'm going slightly mad with this. I hate wasting time on such a "trivial" issues when it should work  (IMHO) flawless from beginning and always! Is this such a big thing to resolve? Is this so complicated to inplement? Why? I'm frustrated with this.

  • Screen rotation doesn't work on Dell Venue 11 Pro

I'm running Windows Technical Preview for Enterprise Build 9879 on a Dell Venue 11 Pro. It has the Intel Core-i5-4300Y processor and Intel HD graphics chipset.
All devices are recognized in Device Manager, but the screen does not rotate if I turn the tablet.
Is anyone else having issues with screen rotation?

I have Dell venue 11 pro 5130 version with the atom processor. And I think my tech preview just updated to the 9879 Build... I have only had tech preview installed less than a week.
The previous build I had (and I have no idea what the build was) Did rotate the screen just fine, but now I have to manually toggle the orientation.

  • After updating to iOS 8.3, seem like the wifi signal got worst. The screen rotation is still as bad

sseem like the updates which were pushed didn't do any much hel, the wifi signal was even weaker than before, at times I will be totally disconnected from my home wifi.
And the screen rotation... i don't see any difference to it.

Mine won't even rotate now. So I have not scientific calculator. Apple support recommends backup and restore.

iOS software used to be so bullet proof, but iOS 8 is a dog. It's like working with windows. I wish I could downgrade. My wife's phone is at iOS 6 and I'm leaving it there. it works better than mine.

  • Screen Rotation on a B&W G3

    Hey everyone,
I have a great Dell FP1901 Monitor that supports portrait mode (it swivels 90 degrees easily) and I've heard that Tiger supports it natively.
Anyway, I have the latest version of Tiger: 10.4.8 and I still cannot get the screen rotation option. Does the typical video card on the B&W G3 not support screen rotation? I have the ATI Rage 128 or whatever is the normal card that comes with the B&W G3s.
Let me know what I have to do - since this would be a feature I would get a TON of use out of, being a web designer.
    Thanks!
    Tim

From what I understand the monitor has nothing to do with the rotation of the screen. For example my NEC Laptop running Windows XP can rotate the screen, as it can on my external 19" TFT Targa Visionary monitor. There is nothing special about either screen, or the drivers used (Plug & Play). The screen rotation is handled by the Intel graphics driver. The fact that you can easily physically rotate your screen is irrelevant to the way the graphics card draws to it.
Now I think about it, Tiger supports screen rotation on some graphics cards. What does my NEC Laptop and some Macs have in common? An integrated Intel 9xx GMA graphics card.
As Apple did not mention any specific monitor requirements on the page I already cited I would surmise from this that it is your graphics card that does not support the screen rotation and rather than being computationally expensive the rotation is handled by the graphics card (by simply changing the order it reads from it memory for conversion in the DAC).
So to concur with your assumptions: 1. Your graphics card seems not to support screen rotation.
I am unaware of a 3rd party PCI card based on the Intel 9xx GMA, nor do I know of a Mac compatible PCI ATI card which would allow you to rotate the screen in Tiger.
Not that it helps with your particular setup but I would put money on your Dell monitor working perfectly with a shiny new Mac mini.
    Hope that helps.
    Jason.

  • Screen rotation function stop to work.

    Hi !
After Installing SP1 on Windows 7 machines, the screen rotation function seem to stop working.
On Windows7 machines without SP1 it works fine, but on Win7 SP1 I can no longer use Ctrl+Alt+<arrowkey>
to change the rotation on the screen.
I've tried to google this, but can not find anything about it.
Anyone else that has run into the same issue ?

  • Rotating windows or display

Is there a program that rotates a given window 90 degrees (or other arbitrary value), without changing the orientation of the screen itself?
I figure with screen savers like "Fenetres Volantes" there should be a way to rotate windows in real-time using Quartz or something...
I've tried SMSRotateD, but in current form it's too sensitive (or my SMS isn't locked down enough); even a little tap will cause it to switch around. It's also not accurate on my MB; I can have it sitting perfectly flat, and it'll think it's upside down! My third issue with it, is that in rotated mode it only shows about a quarter of the screen it should; e.g. if bottom of windows point to the right of the screen, it's the top-right of the properly-oriented screen. I don't understand how it decides to display what it does.
It's too bad the MB graphics chips don't support rotated displays; the holding down option while selecting the Displays system pref doesn't have any effect.
    Thanks for any pointers!
