HP Update message pop-up

Please forgive my ignorance if I do not word this correctly, I am trying to get a fix for this even though I don't know too much about the set-up etc., my husband and teenage daughter handle that.
In December, we purchased a non-HP (Acer) laptop, and at the same time, we bought an HP Photosmart Plus wireless printer.  We already had a router so my daugters could have internet access (in the past, they had a Dell laptop and a Gateway laptop).
It is networked to our home desktop pc, my laptop pc, and our daughter's MacBook.  We all have no problems utilizing the printer wirelessly.
But I have recently noticed, a blue box from HP pops up onto the screen of my laptop and the family desktop, telling us that there are HP Updates.  But when I click on that box, nothing happens.  There is no "red x" to click on to close, there aren't any buttons to click on at all.  I can click on it and move it around, which I do because it gets in the way when I'm working on the computers, but I cannot close it or choose to accept and install any updates.  This pop-up notice does NOT appear on the MacBook screen.
Can you tell me if it's a valid update notice?  If it is, why can't I figure out how to install the updates?  If it's not, how can I get rid of it?
TIA and thanks also for your forbearance of my ignorance.

I just found the following on another posting.  I pressed the Enter Key while dragging the box and it opened up!  It then did the updates.  Hope this works for you!
"The following worked for me.  Drag the "HP UPdate" box up the screen.  Then press the 'Enter' key.  A dialogue box then pops up asking you to confirm the update and everything works fine from there."
