HP w/1907 monitor will go blank for no apparent reason. Turning it off/on repaetedly doesn't help

My HP w/1907 will go blank for no reason.  I have to turn it off/on repeatedly (6-7 times) to get it to stay on.  HELP!!!  I have tried to reinstall drivers only to get a error message sayingthat an the download access is denied.

Hello sharon3,
What monitor are you using and how are you connected to the computer (e.g. vga, dvi, etc)? The problem could be:
1. Drivers
2. Monitor Hardware
3. Cables
We have to start ruling things out to determine where the problem is. Try connecting this monitor to another computer or another monitor to your computer to see if the problem continues to happen. Since we are on the subject of your computer what make and model system are we using and what operating system?

    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>Stoe and sign out and then sign back in
    - Power off and then back on the router.
    - Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
Could just be an Apple problem. So far I have seen another post today with same problem.

There is no pattern, sometimes it happens quickly after boot and sometimes it takes a while.
Can anyone suggest what is wrong?

Take a look at this thread, I to had the same problem with the monitor turning off but the computer continue to run. Solved it by the introduction of the Enermax from using the ThermalTake that had 18A on the +12V rail. Hope it helps.

  • PE9 suddenly will not work for no apparent reason

I have been successfuly using Premier Elements 9 for the last month since I bought it. This last Thursday, while trying to find video footage online for an upcoming project, one or several bugs came into my computer and almost killed it, and since its recovery, Adobe Premier Elements 9 has suddenly decided that it is "not compatible" with my computer. Even though I have double and triple checked my computer requirements. I need this program for project, need it very badly in fact, but what the heck is going on with it? My computer has since been debugged, cleaned out, and fixed. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, to the same end: whenever I click to open PE9, it pops up with one of those windows asking "Do you want to allow this program to make the following changes to your computer?", I click yes, and absolutely nothing happens. It doesn't open, and it obviously doesn't make the changes it's talking about. Coincidentally (or not), at the same time, the Photoshop Elements I bought with PE9 has decided that one second after I open it, it will "encounter an error/problem" and be forced to shut down with no explanation as to what the problem was or how to fix it. Photoshop Elements has also been working fine. My computer is 100% fine now after its fiasco, but these programs refuse to work. A little help or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I know you say you've cleaned and debugged your computer -- but if you clicked Yes on a window asking if you'd like to modify your computer, there's a very good chance you've downloaded a virus or, at the very least, some troubling spyware.
Run the maintenance regimen I recommend in my books and in the FAQs to the right of this forum. In most cases, this particular strain can be remedied with Spybot S&D and Advanced System Care (even if your antivirus missed it). But, if not, a good virus scan with your antivirus program or, better, Malware Bytes may get your computer back up and running.
Hopefully. Unless the thing you've downloaded is deadlier than the typical bug. (This is as true for a Mac as it is for Windows PC, by the way. A notorious Mac virus has been bringing down Apple computers left and right lately! And, unfortunately, free maintenance programs, like Spybot and Advanced System Care, don't exist for the Mac -- so you may need to pay to get your machine running again.)
BTW, how much clean, freshly defragmented space is left on your C drive? You'll need at least 30 gigs to keep your computer running well.
Meantime, watch out when looking for videos online! Beware of freebies. And NEVER approve ANY offer to modify your computer unless it's a computer you've intentionally installed.

On the PC. Browse to the Palm folder. (C:/Program Files/Palm or Palmone/*your hotsync username*/Datebook
Make sure the Palm Desktop is closed. Inside the Datebook folder there should be a Datebook file. (.dat) and Datebook.bak compare the sizes. If the .bak is larger than the .dat your data might be recoverable. Rename the Datebook.dat to Datebook.old Then rename Datebook.bak to Datebook.dat. Reopen the Palm Desktop and see if the data has returned.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • For no apparent reason I can no longer get my email icon to work.  All I get is a completely blank screen.

For no apparent reason I can no longer receive or send emails.  In fact when I touch the email icon all I get is a blank screen.  I have checked my email settings all seems fine.  Regards Kim

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Thansk for the reply King_Penguin...let me elaborate and see what you think...I had the ipad2 in the office and saw the battery was getting really low.  I tried charging it with the iphone charger (connects to my pc at work).  It took a while, but it got enough juice in the ipad2 to bring it back to life.  when I got home, I hooked it up, and got to about 50%.  All was fine, then I was attempting to hook it up to my TV with the AV adapter (or VGA adapter, whatever it is), left the ipad alone for a minute, came back to it, and that's when it went dark.  I tried the home/sleep buttons, but only for about 5 seconds...any other suggestions in case that doesn't work?  Thanks again...

    See if the following help.
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Turning off iCloud and multitasking gestures on the iPad might also help.

  • Firfefox crashes for no apparent reason, it will/can not file a report, I think it may be xmarks!!

Firefox crashes for no apparent reason and at no apparent "same point" I have two machines that this is hapening on, both are running Firefox 3.6 and Xmarks back-up.

Standard troubleshooting steps in order are as follows:
Power the iPad off and on.
An iPad reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.
Restore your iPad with iTunes from your iPad's backup.
Restore your iPad with iTunes as a new iPad or not from your iPad's backup.
If no change after the last step, your iPad has a hardware problem.

  • Firefox 15.1 stops responding for no apparent reason!

As the title says, Firefox 15.1 stops responding for no apparent reason!
I just did a re-format of my system disk and I re-installed Vista 64-bit on it. I have obviously re-installed everything from Windows updates to chipset, graphics and sound drivers. I also pulled down the latest and greatest version of Firefox which at the time is 15.1. So installed that too.
Every now and then Firefox just stops responding for no apparent reason. It looks like it is processing the request (after clicking a link etc.) but it then it's just a silence... nothing happens!
It doesn't even say it can't load the page and Windows doesn't even say that it has stopped responding. Not even after I click like crazy on the Firefox interface like different buttons and tabs and on the web page... not even then does it say "not responding" in the title bar of the window, which is usually the case when you deal with programs that are not responding immediately (you get that dialog that asks you if you would like to close the program or search for solutions online). Just nothing!... it's only quite and does nothing....
At the same time, all other programs are working flawlessly, such as the Explorer (Windows Explorer), or even Internet Explorer. And Internet connection is not lost!
I have no add-ons or extensions installed whatsoever. I just installed Firefox! I haven't even had the time to install Java yet. All I have is Adobe Flash player. That's the only extra. Otherwise it's in its' original form, default settings, etc, etc, etc.
Why is it acting up like this?...
I'm surprised that there even is such a thing as Firefox 15. This one came at the end of August, correct?
I have been on Firefox 14.x something before I re-installed Vista. For a good reason so! This is why I hate the new update model of Firefox and I don't jump on the next train (version) unless it's safe and I'm having compatibility issues with the one I use at the moment. This is why my first step after installing Firefox always is to disable automatic updates! I hate it when the software vendors are pushing out their latest software versions forcefully.
Frankly, I think this new Firefox version of yours is crap. It's not properly tested and it doesn't belong in the official release channel. This is more like a nightly build or something. It probably has some memory leak, despite the promises made by Firefox engineers that it will not have memory leaks and that it would be the fastest version of Firefox ever. I don't really need a faster browsing, I need a stable browser for reliable browsing. The speed of this Firefox version is close to ZERO! When it's not responding at all...
I have been a fan of Firefox since 0.8. I will be probably ditching this latest version and going back to an older version like 13 or 14 that's more closer to the reality and not in this fantasy world of fastest, greatest, latest, version this, version that, latest features. I just want a browser that works man!... I'm getting tired of Firefox. I may even ditch it altogether in favor of.... I don't know.... Safari?... Chrome?.... I might even go back to Internet Explorer after like 12 years of absence.

please try to uninstall the adobe flash plugin from the windows control panel. afterwards manually delete any leftover files in ''C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash'' and download & install the plugin again (uncheck the option to install the bundled security software): www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

  • W500 broke down for no apparent reason

    Dear all,
I have a W500 that worked fine for 4 years and suddenly started being faulty for no apparent reason.
I've searched the web and tried many fixes, but I still haven't been able to pinpoint the problem. At this point I suspect that the problem might implicate faulty hardware, though I am not sure. I would really appreciate any suggestions that could help me figure it out and (hopefully) fix it.
The laptop is a ~5 year-old W500 that came with Vista install but was upgraded to windows 7 after a couple of months. I made the BIOS upgrade at that point, but not since.
After trying to rescue it without success, I eventually reset the BIOS to default settings and reinstalled windows 7, and I am now able to use the computer but with many persisting problems.
    Current symptoms
Slow boot time (4-5 min until I can start using windows) with occasional failure to start windows (hangs for hours before log on screen, but without crashing)
Initially failed to shut down, but uninstalling the dvd drive in windows seems to have fixed this.
Black screen appears on two occasions during boot. (1) between the "please wait" screen and the log on screen, and (2) after logging after the "welcome" screen. Each stays for around a minute (I guess they also show on healthy systems but too short to be noticed)
Windows is generally slow and prone to failures. Browsing windows explorer sometimes works fine, sometimes hangs for several tens of seconds. Launching programs takes an unreasonable amount of time (up to several minutes in some cases). Installing programs is incredibly slow and often fails.
Initially, after reinstalling windows, it looked like windows explorer did not refresh itself automatically anymore: if I created a new folder for example, it would not appear until I hit the refresh button. Somehow, this issue seems to have resolved itself, perhaps when uninstalling the cdrom, but I couldn't swear.
Booting in safe mode hangs after loading CLASSPNP.sys, which apparently is a recurring problem. In my case, after re-installing the OS it only hangs for 2-3 minutes and eventually safe mode successfully starts.
Yesterday the graphics driver failed multiple times, which never occurred before (well, maybe once, and a long long time ago). The first time the computer restarted automatically, and the next couple of times the screen just went black but the computer was still running.
Apparently I am unable to restore to factory state using the rescue&recovery environment. The partition which I believe to be the recovery partition (it has drive letter D: and no name, it guess this happened when installing the new OS) cannot be accessed from DOS (I/O error comes up, I am not sure if this is normal or not), and browsing it in windows explorer causes it to freeze. In safe mode it does appear in disk management, where is says 9.8GB, RAW, primary, healthy, 100% free space. Rescue and recovery environment does not start (perhaps as a consequence of this).
Since reinstalling windows the fingerprint reader does not work, and the "mouse wheel" function of the touchpad is broken (looks like the drivers are missing, but I can live with that for now)
    Additional details
As I mentioned above I've had this laptop for 4-5 years and it always worked properly without major glitches. Then one day windows suddenly failed to start without reason, although on rare occasions I was able to log in after a very long boot (which suggests to me that it might not be completely broken but just took forever to start up windows), but then it would also fail to shut down (hanged forever at the "windows is shutting down" screen.
Thinking back, the laptop did on rare occasions fail to start windows, but would always start the next time and never failed to shut down as far as I remember. Lately I also noticed freezing on some occasions, which at that time I thought might be related to the DVD because they seemed to happened only when the DVD was in use.
After many unsucessful attempts to recover the current system I reinstalled windows 7, and now windows is more or less running, but with the symptoms described above.
I've run chkdsk /F /R /B, sfc /scannow, and windows memory diagnostic multiple times, as well as several lenovo diagnostic tools (CPU, memory, optical, graphics and perhaps a couple of others); none of them returned any error (1 bad sector added to list by chkdsk last time it ran).
    Questions
        Any suggestions/feedback?
At this point, is there a chance it could help to reformat the entire drive and reinstall windows?
In particular, I'm not sure why I need the recovery partition if I (1) it doesn't work and (2) I have an installation CD for the OS anyway.
Also, would it safe to remove the SERVICEV003 partition?
I've read somewhere that to restore to factory state you need to mark the recovery partition as "active" - is this true, and could it be the reason that rescue&recovery environment does not start?
Is it any use updating the BIOS at this point?
Also, is there any chance that playing around with the BIOS config could result in a working configuration?
If the problem is a hardware problem, how can I figure out which is the faulty component?
Is it possible to completely disable, e.g., the DVD drive, without physically unplugging it (BIOS doesn't seem to allow this, and even though uninstalling it in windows seemed to fix the shutdown problem, I know that the DVD is still working because e.g. I can boot from it).
Is there a way to completely disable one of the graphics card to check whether problem could come from it?
I've been considering pulling out the HD and memory to check if there is any misconnection/dirty connector. Is is even worth trying (I usually try refrain as much as possible from messing with laptop's inside) ?
I will update if I remember anything important or if there is any major new development.
Thanks in advance for your help!

137 attempted reallocations with 6 currently pending. Your drive is probably on its way out.
Back-up your data immediately. You could try running SpinRite or HDD Regenerator on the drive to try and fix it, but chances are you should just replace it.

However, the exported image seems to be OK.
