HP w1907v monitor menu

I'm having problems with screen displays; probably the video card is the cause but I want to eliminate the monitor before I start pulling the computor apart. My question; the monitor has it's own dedicated menu accessed by buttons along the bottom of the screen. At the moment I can't get that menu to display, is this dedicated menu dependent on the video card in the  tower or does it have it's own drivers installed in the monitor hardware.  I've had no problems with the monitor previously but do need to eliminate from my list of possible faults.  If anyone who has a similar monitor will try bringing up the menu with the computor switched I will be grateful.  Ron

I understand you are having problems with your display and are trying to rule out the monitor. The bottons on the monitor itself are dependant on your monitor being connected to a computer. To properly test your monitor if you are trying to rule it out simply connect it to another computer and see if it works properly.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Where is the monitor menu and ALC checkbox?

Using GB11, I have my electric guitar plugged into the Mic/Line input on my MacBookPro using a simple converter.  The "Converter" is only a phone jack input with a mini-jack output.  It's not powered.
In the Mac's General Preferences/Sound/Audio I have "Line In and Audio Line-In Port" selected.
In GB Preferences Audio/MIDI I have "Built-in" for both Output and Input but I've also tried "System Setting" on each/both.
I can switch between amps and as I play I cannot hear my guitar.  As I record I cannot hear the guitar.  When I play back I hear the amp and WOW it's cool!  But I need to be able to monitor as I play.  I looked up monitor in the Help file and saw this:
In the Track Info pane, do any of the following:
Choose On from the Monitor menu before recording.
Select the Automatic Level Control checkbox before playing or recording.
Well, I have the Track Info pane open (that's where the amps are displayed). But I cannot find the Monitor menu or the ALC Checkbox.
Can someone please tell me where these are hidden??
    TIA

  • HP LA2306x Monitor Menu Stuck

    Need help.
I have a HP LA2306x monitor. Recently the monitor menu pops up on its own and then starts toggling through each of the open items from top to bottom (so the orange select box starts on cancel then goes to source detection then to auto-switch source and so forth by it self). Essentially it's like someone is pressing the menu button constantly.
I tried some of the other solutions like unplugging and holding the power button and the menu button but nothing seems to work for too long. When I unplug the monitor seems to work properly but within 5 minutes the menu pops up again and then the toggling begins.
Any thoughts? appreciate the help in advance.

I understand that you are having issues with your HP Compaq LA2306x 23-inch WLED Backlit LCD Monitor toggling through the OSD menu. I would recommend you try the following steps to resolve this issue:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the monitor and from the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button on the monitor down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back in ensuring it is plugged directly into the wall and not into a powerbar or strip
Step 4. Press Menu on the monitor when it is powered on
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and press it
If the issue persists beyond the steps I have given I think it would be best if you contact HP Technical Support for repair options.

  • New mobo...BIOS freezes when accessing "H/W Monitor Menu" -- K9N Neo-F V3

Just bought a new MSI nForce560 board, haven't installed the OS yet.  If I touch the "H/W Monitor" menu in the BIOS, it locks up.  I know the keyboard still works because Ctrl-Alt-Del will reboot the CPU, but I can no longer navigate the menu.  If I never touch that particular menu, it never locks up, but if I enter that menu for any reason, it will lock up within 5-45 seconds.  Running AMI BIOS 2.61 (6/12/07).

Hook the antec fan up to one of the power supply's 4 pin molex connectors.  There may be a conflict between the motherboard and the speed controller in th fan or there could be an overload of the motherboard's fan power circuit.
It is always best to run power to the case fans directly from the power supply.  Helps to reduce the heat generated by the voltage control circuits in the motherboard.
Excellent.  That's precisely what I did and it seems to be working GREAT!  Thanks!

  • Mac mini and 52" TV monitor -- menu bars invisible

Last summer I bought a mac mini for my Samsung 22" TV/DVI monitor. The mini immediately recognized the TV as a specific DVI monitor and all was well.
The only problem was the monitor was smaller than my iMac screen. A bigger TV was inevitable. We eventually moved, and the idea of using binoculars to watch TV held little appeal, so I bought a 52" Samsung.
I bought a DVI to HDMI cable, as this TV had no DVI input (unlike the 22" combo TV/DVI monitor) and the mini recognizes it generically as "Samsung" and chooses "1080p" for the monitor resolution. (I assume this is preferred to 1080i, even though the refresh rate is slower?).
I want to use this both as a "Front Row" interface for iTunes movies, etc, and as a conventional monitor for when I want to do computery things.
The menu bar (as well as the bottom of the dock) are invisible. They are there when I remotely display the screen, so I think they might just be hidden by the frame. Is there a viable workaround? Of the 15 or so possible resolutions, exactly one shows the menu bar, but at the expense of lower resolution and terrible color balance (oddly, if I rotate the image 180° in Display System Preferences, the color looks ok).
Also, while I am at it, what is the optimal way to export audio from the mac mini into a stereo input? Right now I am using the headphone jack, and it sounds ok, but I suspect there might be a much better way.

I've been having this same problem! My Mini plugged into my 42" HDTV (via DVI to HDMI adapter, with Overscan enabled) has the desktop overflowing the screen on all four sides. With Overscan disabled, the desktop is too small and has a black band on all four sides.
Now, I know the Nvidia GPU can scale/stretch the display for external displays, I had to do it with my Vista laptop. So, how do I do the same thing on my Mini?
I've called tech support, but I had no luck. The first guy would only say 'You can't do anything else.' and hung up when I asked for someone else. The second guy didn't even understand the issue.

  • New Monitor - Menu fonts are blurry with balck background

I just installed a new monitor (Compaq 20" LCD). When in Firefox, the menu fonts in the upper right hand corner of the screen have a black background and the the lettering appears fuzzy. When I float my cursor over them they highlight in blue (as that should) and are nice and clear. This is only in Firefox - the whole screen is crystal clear when using any other program.

Thanks michael. You are right. The fonts in the image file I posted looks good compared to my original monitor screen for some wierd reason. I went through all the steps that you mentioned. BUT I think I have found the solution now. This is what I did: I downloaded 'Tinker Tool' > font smoothing> changed font smoothing style to 'Strong'. This seems to have sorted the problem out. I have posted both images for comparison below.

  • Connecting HP w1907v Monitor speakers to HP Pavilion a6430.uk

I cannot get the correct speaker connection from the monitor to the tower and therefore have no sound available to me.
    Can anybody help, please?
    Peter2508

    1) What video cable are you using from the computer to the monitor?
If it's an HDMI cable then the sound should go through that cable.
In this case there's no need to have the green audio cable from lcd to monitor connected, only the HDMI (black).
If the HDMI cable is used then make sure that the "Realtek HDMI output" is the default playback device.
You can check this by rightclicking on the white speakers on the bottom right corner of your screen next to the time and select Playback Devices.
Make sure the the Realtek HDMI output has a green checkmark. If it does then it should be fine, but if it doesn't, rightclick on it and select "set as default device".
Be sure to disconnect the audio cabel with the green color at the end from the lcd if you're going to the HDMI cable.
    2) If you're using a VGA (blue)or DVI (white) cable for video then you must plug in the thin audio cable that came with your monitor to get sound.
The cable is green at one or both ends and goes in the back of the lcd and in the back of the computer in the round "doughnut shaped" color coated port. That's for front audio out.
It won't work in any of the other ports.
NOTE: You can also connect the audio cable to the front of the pc in the headphone jack instead if you want.
If the green audio cable is used then you have to make sure that"Speakers" is the default playback device in the sound options.
You can check this by rightclicking on the white speakers on the bottom right corner of your screen next to the time and select Playback Devices.
Make sure the the Speakers has a green checkmark. If it does then it should be fine, but if it doesn't, rightclick on it and select "set as default device".
Hope this helps and sorry for the long post.

  • Yosemite: menu bar reloading while multiple monitors

    Hello,
Running Yosemite in a Macbook Pro 15 Retina (Mid 2012) in multiple monitors, clicking in one monitor menu bar and then the other, the menu reloads.
Then, after the reload, I have to click again.
Please see video (you will see only one monitor but I am clicking in the other and then in this one, and you can see the top bar reloading):

  • P2415Q - No display over DVI, HDMI. No menu. Worked perfectly for one month over display port

Reason Line: Dell P2415Q. After one month working perfectly over display port, no display on screen over Display Port or HDMI, no response to menu buttons, backlight and power LED on but no image on screen.
    Problem Description
The monitor worked out of the box for one month using the display port to mini display port cable provided with the monitor, which was plugged into my XFX 7970 and 7950 graphics cards. It supported 4K at 60Hz and was exceptional for photos, videos and games. On Wednesday the monitor stopped working, no image or menu is displayed on the monitor. I plugged in my old monitor to help diagnose via DVI from the same graphics card. When I press the power button on the Dell P2415Q monitor, the power LED lights up and the computer detects the monitor (as shown in the windows screen resolution menu). It sets it as a secondary display but the monitor remains black, I can see the power LED and backlight is on. No power saving mode popup appears on the monitor, when I press the menu buttons there is no response from the screen, it remains black. I repeated with a HDMI cable the same issue occurs with no response or image. I repeated and disabled crossfire (which allows the graphics cards to function independently) and tried the second graphics card with no response. I tested the HDMI cable I used on my old LG monitor, it works well. I have tried connecting a laptop over HDMI to the monitor too, with no response from the monitor. I have exhausted all the tests I can think of, I presume I will have to return the monitor for repair or replacement under warranty. A question to the dell rep and community - is there anything else I can try / do to get it working?
    Monitor / Computer Details
    Monitor service tag: <removed>
Computer: Non-Dell, self build about 2 years ago. Ivy Bridge i5, Gigabyte Sniper Motherboard, 16GB RAM, XFX 7970 GPU and XFGX 7950 GPU in crossfire, 256GB SSD, 860W Corsair AX power supply (860W on 12V rails). Windows 7, 64-bit. (Secondary Monitor LG D2342).
Operating System: Windows 7, 64 Bit.
Video Card: XFX 7970 and XFX 7950 in Crossfire (tested separately, monitor produces fault with both).
Video Card Driver: 14.12 AMD Catalyst Driver (rolled back to older driver, monitor still produces fault).
Video Card Output Ports: Tested with miniDP and HDMI on both cards, with crossfire enabled and disabled. Monitor still produces fault.
Video Card Cable: miniDP to DP cable provided with monitor. HDMI cable, tested with alternate monitor to confirm it functions correctly.
Monitor Menu Button: Non responsive, when power is turned on the computer successfully detects the Dell P2415Q monitor, the backlight turns on but no image appear on the screen. Pressing the menu buttons yields no result - menu does not appear on the screen. Power LED is on.
Monitor Purchase: Purchased from Overclockers.co.uk March 2015.

    * Turn the monitor off
    * Disconnect all cables from the monitor including the power cable
    * Press the monitor power button in for 15 seconds
    * Reconnect the monitor cables and re-test. If still no go, your only option is to get it exchanged per the purchased warranty
    * But first the service tag must be transferred into your name using this form

  • MacBook Pro to HP w1907v

Hi. I just connected my 13 inch MacBook Pro to the HP w1907v monitor and I wanna make the HP monitor my mane screen... how can I do that ?

Sorry I meant to say "Main" !

  • How to delete the Monitor Previous Items list ?

    Hello,
I have in my monitor menu, the one in the menu bar, 2 lines : 1920x1080 60 Hz Millions
    Call them Last and Last-1
When I use Last-1 all my display becomes a bit blurred, specially the fonts in all apps.
But it is LAST which has the check mark... ??
When I use Last, everything is ok, and it has the check mark.
From the prefs panel, selecting the same values and it is Last which will have the check mark, so it is ok and working.
I would like to delete the history for the monitor list.
I have search in the library without success...
    Thanks a lot!

As far as I can tell the recent settings for displays is stored in this file:
    /Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.preference.displays.0017f20 dca84.plist
Unfortunately I can't be positive that's the right plist, because the entry for recentModes is just a very cryptic number. But of the plists that change when I altered the settings for the monitor, that is the only one that actually had an entry at all for recent modes. You can try deleting it, then go to System Prefs and redo your monitor settings and see what happens.
I was unable to find any file that had the list of resolutions I see when I select Displays from the menu bar.

  • Envision monitor  "out of range"

I have a widescreen Envision monitor that I've used on my PC for years but I'm not having any luck getting it to work with my new Mac Mini. Envision's website says it needs some drivers and I need to talk to Mac support...
I've tried safe booting several times, but still end up the same: power up the Mac Mini the Apple logo and gear going round look fine, but as soon as it switches to its regular display mode the screen goes black.
    The monitor menu's Info screen says: 1440 X 900, 55 kHz, 59 Hz.
    Anyone with a solution?

The way a Mac gets it's display driver is directly from the display, so the Envision website is not correct if it directs you to Mac support for a display driver.
If you own a second computer, I recommend setting up a VNC connection between the mini and a second computer. You can then see what resolution the mini is sending to the Envision. You can also change that setting from the other computer and hopefully get the mini set to a resolution that will cause the Envision to start working.

  • Retina to Samsung Syncmaster monitor: NO DISPLAY

I have recently bought a Macbook 15" retina. I already had the Samsung monitor display. (syncmaster 2333HD).
But when I'm connecting them with the thunderbolt to HDMI converter, I get no display on my Samsung display, nothing.
The only thing I note, is that my macbooc's screen gives a blue flash when I pull out the cable (thunderbolt).
    Can somebody please help me?
    Thanks

    I'm having the same problem.
Here's what's happening on my end:
Macbook Pro Retina 15" is suppose to 'Plug & Play' easily to Samsung 23" Monitor (syncmaster 2333) using thunderbolt to DVI cable.
This monitor only offers a DVI and VGA ports.
Also, tried using the rMBP's HDMI cable to HDMI-DVI adapter in the Samsung monitor. (same symptoms as with other cable)
rMBP's screen shows blue for a moment when the cable is removed or connected from computer port then goes back to normal screen.
Samsung Moniter's blue power light on the bottom edge of the screen blinks at 1 sec intervals (so power isn't an issue)
After pressing the "Menu" button on the side of the monitor a "test good" message displays in the top left corner for a moment then goes blank. (actual monitor menu does not show)
After pressing the 4th button from the top (looks like a back arrow or return arrow icon) it seems to switch from digital to analog (I think) and a floating message displays "Check Signal Cable" with a red, green, and blue box and "Analog"  in the floating box. During this the monitor's blue power light on the edge of the screen is a steady solid blue not blinking anymore.
System Preferences Display doesn't show any indication of sensing another monitor is connected.
I have tried to connect to a Samsung 46" HDTV via HDMI to HDMI port and that works wonderfully yet isn't practical for my desk set up. Just glad to know that something actually worked and I'm not cursed.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Would really like to use this 2nd monitor. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I hope I gave enough details.
    Thank you in advance!

  • Dual Monitor XFCE on a Laptop?

I managed to get it up and running but is there an app or something that makes it easier to disconnect and reconnect my laptop to the secondary monitor without having to restore all the settings everytime i decide that i want to move my laptop away from secondary monitor?

Not sure what you mean.  Are you saying that every time you connect your laptop to an external monitor you need to bring up Menu -> Settings -> Display?
I use Xfce with a laptop and external monitor (via docking station) and all I do to connect/disconnect is hit fn-F7 to bring up the external monitor menu.  If you don't have a monitor hotkey, you could always use xrandr and a hotkey(s) of your choice.
seems like a good solution to tie the xrandr command to a keyboard shortcut and bind the panels to a particular monitor.    Thanks.  Sorry for responding so late.   edit that works now wondering if there is a command to both enable secondary monitor and reset xrandr settings all at once edit again i set f6 to turn off external display f7 to turn it back on and f8 to restore dual monitor settings.    now if only there was a way to combine f7 and f8.   and && doesn't work.   3rd and final edit.     combined commands into bash script and linked to that as a keyboard shortcut
