HP w2207 no display

I have an HP w2207 flat-screen monitor attached to a Pavilion Media Center PC m8147c. The monitor won't display info from the processor. We've had this problem intermittently since we've had the computer, but we'd reboot or let it sit overnight and it would be OK. Now it won't work at all. If you turn the monitor off and back on, it shows a box that says "Monitor Status; VGA Input-No input signal; DVI Input-No input signal; Recommended Settings 1680x1050-60 Hz." After that, a box appears at mid screen that says "Monitor Going to Sleep." Then it all fades away. Nothing appears unless I turn it off and back on again. If I disconnect the cable from the processor, it has a message that indicates it isn't receiving a signal and to check the connection. I can't update the drivers or even dowload the original disk because I can't see what the computer is doing. I hear the experts are out there today! Can you help?

Hi,
Try to perform a hard reset on both you pc and your monitor.
Performing a hard reset on pc.
1.  Disconnect the power cord from behind the tower.
2.  Hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
3.  Plug the power cord back into pc.

Also check the video cord to make sure that it is firmly attached.
If this doesn't work, try connecting an external monitor to see if it will display, or try another video cable if possible.

  • Blurry text on HP w2207 external display?

I just hooked up my 15" MBP to a new HP w2207 LCD and I'm concerned that text is not as sharp as it appears on the (lower-res) notebook display. I fear this may be a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway: Is this just a fact of life with a larger screen (which I otherwise love), or is there something wrong with the new monitor (or how I have it setup)?

You know I tried two different monitors a Dell 17" LCD and a Samsung 20" widescreen. Both were set at their native resolutions. Both had the same problem. The text was not crisp. I would not say blurry but I would say it was over anti aliasing. I was using the DVI out put too. I tried doing a custom color profile but had very little improvement. Some forums indicating a possible problem with the Intel video. But I tried the monitor's on my wife's Dell laptop with the same Intel graphics and it does not have any problems. So I am thinking it is more about how Apple handles anti aliasing.

  • Hp w2207 monitor flip to vertical flat screen problems with display with Microsoft Vista

The screen has vertical and horizontal lines that flicker and when I turn on the monitor, I can do boot menu, setup, and other computer check utilities, but when I boot up the Microsoft Vista software the screen goes blank.
Have checked the cables and power - are ok.  Audio is fine.

It seems like the display settings of the pc are not equal to the requirements of the monitor.
Can you see the boot menu (bios)?
Try to boot in safe mode first.

  • Both Displays Blink on and off After Waking

I recently got an external display (22" LCD monitor) for my 12" PB. It looks beautiful, but whenever I wake my laptop from sleeping, or I reconnect my display, both screens alternately go black. They keep briefly flashing their desktops until I give up and hard restart my computer. This only happens when I use my mini-DVI to DVI connector. Mini-DVI to VGA works fine, but it doesn't go up to 1280 X 1050, which is what looks stunning.
Does this sound like a graphics card issue? Or is my aging/well-loved PB just not up to the challenge in some other way?

Long story short I solved the problem, and it was totally a model issue. It is the HP w2207, which apparently has a problem with iMac 24 inch, the nvidia graphics card, mini DVi to DVI and 10.4 in particular. You see these two devices, just don't get along very well. The imac tries to auto set the monitor at one resolutions and the monitor tries to auto set itself at another, and they will continue to do this indefinitely. However both when I switched to a VGA cable, which I believe prevents the monitor from auto setting itself, and when I upgraded to 10.5 solved the problem.
Personally I didn't mind the upgrade, as I was planning to do it anyway, and is definitely the better solution as there is noticeable difference in the color between the two cables.
Anyway thanks for the help everyone.

  • HP w2207 Monitor - "No Video Signal" After Power Outage

My mother has a Mac Mini - 2009 model - that I bought her. It is connected to an HP w2207 monitor I used to have with a mini-display port to DVI [I think, either that or VGA] adaptor. She lives 2 1/2 hours away.
Last week there was a power outage and ever since she cannot get her system to work. Her monitor says "No Video Signal" and then goes to sleep.
I worked with her for over an hour on the phone trying to fix this problem (oh what fun). Tried every combination of things I know to fix it. It seems from her description that the Mac Mini is not actually booting. When I have her turn the computer off by (press the power button, wait, press it again), she reports that she will here the disk drive spin up for 10 seconds but then no more activity. The green light is on, but that is it.
I had her reset the SCM, but that didn't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Bryan

See if the Mini will boot from the install disk. If it does, have your mom use Disk Utility to repair her internal hard drive. Repeat running repair until Disk Utility gives the disk a clean bill of health. Then repair permissions.
Disk Warrior can sometimes repair things Disk Utility can't. However, it's possible the internal directory is beyond help. In that case, erasing the internal disk and reinstalling the system will be necessary. It's also possible that the disk itself or electronic components in the Mini have been damaged which would require repair at the Mac hospital.
You might want to consider buying your mom a UPC.

  • When I connect a second display both displays start to cycle on and off.

I am connecting a second display that works on both my macbook and macbook pro. When I connect it to my imac, both monitors start blinking on and off.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Purchasing display from HP/Dell/other

I have been trying to research before purchasing two new widescreen displays for my MacPro. I believe that the apple displays have too many issues with them and are too expensive. I'd like to purchase something more affordable, but which will work well. I found the HP w2207 and the HP w2007 which look good (about $250 each with free shipping) as well as the Dell 20" widescreen ($260 w/o shipping). From the research, it seems like Dell has the better technology. Any thoughts/recommendations? Are there any special issues hooking up these monitors to a MacPro? Appreciate any input.

I'm wanting to use the W2207 monitor with a Mac g4, and have it coming in Monday. After reading several post on some problems with this monitor. I hope it will work with my Mac. I do NOT plan on hooking it up by dvi, but just the regular hook up. If that makes sence.

  • Vertical Display on Ext. Monitor

I bought an HP w2207 monitor (which totally rocks the house, by the way), and it comes with the handy feature of rotating vertical for viewing webpages, editing photos, ect.
At the electronic's store, the monitor was connected to a Vista machine and when tilted vertical, the monitor recalibrated itself and displayed vertical automatically.
Does anyone know if this can be done with my Mac Book Pro. I'm connected using a DVI-I cable (I think it's "I")?
    MBP 15" 2x2   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

ATI video cards support rotation, so I hear. Needs the ATI displays program installed, no idea if that supports the current card, and I personally wouldn't risk it.

  • Monitor does not come on due to no input signal. Monitor is hp w2207. Hp media center pc m 260 N.

Desktop PC is connected correctly but monitor indicates no input signal & monitor goes to sleep mode. All my wireless laptops work ok. Does this have anything to do with wireless setup?

Although it appears the computer model name is incomplete, I assume you mean a HP Media Center m260n Desktop Computer. Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion w2207 LCD wide-screen flat panel monitor. The computer supports VGA only, unless you have previously installed an 8x AGP graphics card. The monitor supports both VGA and DVI-D.
The first step in troubleshooting this issue would be to connect the monitor to a known working computer using the same VGA cable. Does the monitor work??? Yes... could be the computer, No... could be the monitor or the cable. Next, connect the computer to another known working monitor with the same VGA cable. Does the monitor display a picture??? Yes, computer is good, No... computer or cable  is bad. Post the results if you need more assistance.

  • After Leopard install, no secondary display in PowerBook G4 1.67GHz

I installed Leopard and had no issues during installation (Clean install). I noticed my 22" DVI monitor (HP w2207) no longer works. It shows very poor picture and has a message that the input is out of range. This monitor worked perfectly before (10.4.10). No need for drivers and displayed 1600 X 1050 60Hz.
Anyone out there with similar issues with Secondary displays?

    Hi,
Just to chime in, I am running a PB G4 1.67, and I am running Leopard (10.5.4) on it just fine. In fact, I am *more than* pleased with the fantastic performance. I am a very very heavy user (enterprise software developer permanently running 101 things simultaneously on his machine) and I have no problems.
First of all, try to figure out what is chomping performance. Is it CPU? Fire up activity monitor, go to the CPU tab, list "all processes" and order by CPU usage. See if a process is swamping your CPU. Until I let it run overnight to index my 250Gb drive, the Spotlight indexing engine (mds) was eating all my CPU. Thereafter, it's fine. Or you can disable it.
So yeah - let's first figure out what is causing your CPU to over-work (and hence, your machine in general to heat up, they do get hot, especially in hot climates) and work from there. No reason to suspect hardware failure yet...

  • Using mini-DVI to VGA adapter to Samsung display

I have 2009 late model of mac mini, The text on display looks washed out, not clear or sharp at all from day one, I thought it was the old model of monitor, tried the same cable to another monitor on another computer, SAME. so I thought the problem could be the cable or adapter.
It's hard for me to believe is the signal from computer. I'm using VGA adapter made by Dynex bought from Best Buy.
    Anybody has suggestions?? Thanks

Yeah, My old Samsung is lcd synmaster 17", bought many years ago at around $1000. Crazy, crazy price looked back. It's fine when I used it on the retired old Dell. It must be the adapter, trying not to buy another VGA adapter, could not image my next lcd will use one, anyway.
This cable has only 14 pins vs 15 pins on the other cable, not sure if it matters?? Or if Safari has anything to do with it??
    Thank for you reply...

  • Mini-dvi to video adapter changing display on macbook?

I recently purchased a mini-dvi to video adapter for my macbook to be able to view photos and video on my tv. I'm having trouble with the display on my computer when I use the adapter. As soon as I plug in the mini-dvi video adapter into the computer the display on my computer switches from 1280 X 800 to 640 X 480. Attached to the adapter I have an s-video cable to my tv. The display shows the same on the tv but in black and white.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

Turn mirroring off. That way the two displays can run independently from one another. The mirroring check box is in Displays Preferences under the Arrangement tab.

  • Display problems using mini-dvi to video adapter

I recently purchased the mini-dvi to video adapter for my powerbook to use my TV as a monitor and to play pictures and videos from the laptop to the TV. I am getting a full color display on the TV, but it's only the screen saver. None of my files, text, or any other desktop folders or menus appear when I open them up on the laptop. The only screen that opens is the display preferences when I open that up, but it's a different set of preferences than what's in my computer's display preferences, as it's header is "NTSC/PAL". But other than that 1 menu, nothing is appearing but the screen saver.

OK, I discovered that I didn't know what I was doing. With the Mini-DVI to video adapter, you need to use an S-Video cable that plugs into an S-video jack on the TV, and then you need a separate cable to plug into the audio out jack on the MacBook to plug into the TV.
I think you could also use an S-video to RCA component cable if you have a TV with component video input, but I couldn't get that to work so I went to the s-video to s-video cable.
