Problem: Overdue for my yearly viewing of AVATAR on Bluray. Suddenly, Blu-Ray no longer "works or reads". I remember it working last sometime mid of 2012. I hate an HD 5750 at the time as well as a 3-year old BluRay Drive.
Attempted Solution(s): Heard about the Analog Sunset. Bought a brand new BD Drive a month ago(September, 2013) (See Above) and installed it with a freshly wiped Window's 7 64-Bit. HDMI Cable is plugged in. Every Driver is up to date(YES!!!! I'm sure!!!!). Set display to HDMI default. Even with unplugged VGA, HDMI out to HDMI in doesn't work on restart.

-Basic: http://puu.sh/4SQdi.png
1. My GPU is fine. It checks out regardless of what any advisor says. I've been told this by AMD personally.
2. 30-Day Trial Version is still capable of playing Blu-Ray's.
3. Bullcrap. I have an HDMI plugged into my GPU and my monitor.

WinDVD High-Definition Advisor Report: http://puu.sh/4SQmg.png
1. Analog Display isn't flagged as a no-go for Blu-Ray playback?
2. My processor is fine.
3. Once again, GPU is fine.
ArcSoft BD/HD DVD Guide Advisor Report: http://puu.sh/4SQuR.png
1. GPU checks out over the other two reports.
2. CPU checks out over the previous report.
3. VGA "Checks out" even though it say's it's not HDCP compliant... Oh yeah... I also have HDMI CABLES PLUGGED IN TOO! I call shenanigans.
Please do not pay mind to these reports. Only use them as a reference. I only posted them because I know at some point, someone would suggest I use one of these stupid things. I came prepared... I did my homework... Yes I'm mad. Why? Because monopolies are filthy cesspools of garbage business ethics... Now why the hell can't I play my Blu-Ray's?
...I've even dipped into "The Onion" for answers and still came up short.
EDIT: I've heard theories of a faulty HDMI port in my Monitor... My argument is that it hasn't moved in the 4 years I've had it and if anything were to get into it (which it hasn't), it's nothing a simple Keyboard Cleaner couldn't fix. It's not bent or damaged.
This question was solved.

It seems that your PC has old version of MediaSmart installed, and it does not get updated from Cyberlink (Who created PowerDVD too).

  • Blu-ray burner won't open drive door

I just bought a new Pioneer BDR-205 blu-ray burner (internal) and installed it below the DVD drive on the lower tier. Problem is when I hit optn-Eject, you can hear the drive mechanism try to open and bump against the door. The drive is precisely in place, and the door will open manually when the drive is removed. I'm thinking of getting an external, but wanted to check if anybody has any ideas.

Thanks, I'm trying figure out what to do with the locking tabs. It's like a plastic frame. It doesn't really want to move. I want to wedge the horizontal edge out from the door?

  • Blu-ray optical drive no longer plays Blu-ray discs. Will play all other discs

I have a HP Pavilion Elite hpe-510y desktop pc. HP product # bv538aa#aba.  Optical drive has stopped playing and recognizing Blu-ray discs. All other discs play fine. I didn't notice this problem for awhile because I don't always play Blu-ray discs on my PC. I don't know if their was an update or if the optical drive has just gone bad. I am not sure if its a hardware or software problem. Has anyone else had this problem with this model. Would appreciate any help you can give me in this matter. Thank You. Dennis

    Dennis, welcome to the forum.
I suggest uninstalling the drive.  You can do this by going into Control Panel / Device Manager / DVD/CD-ROM drives.  Right click on your drive and select "Uninstall".  Then, reboot the computer.  Windows will indentify it and reinstall it.

  • My Blu-ray drive will play Blu-rays but won't recognize DVDs or CDs

Hi I have a Pavilion dv6 recently had a problem and I restored it back to factory settings. Thing is before I did this I tried making recovery discs. It made it through the first, then half way through the second, but said the second one was full then when I tried to put another disc in it wouldn't recognize it. I took the comp back to factory settings, but the problem still persists. My Blu-ray play is the HP BD-ROM BDCTD03HA . I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I can provide any other info if needed.

I forgot to mention I have tried just about everything and so far nothing has worked. Please I just want my dvd player back!

  • Blu-ray movies no longer play on ANY program

    To whom it may concern,
I purchased Corel WinDVD Pro 11, hoping it would resolve an issue I'm having with playing blu-ray movies on my HP as of late. HP MediaSmart randomly stopped working (note, I have changed nothing on the computer since it stopped working).
On HP MediaSmart I get the message "The content is protected. The content is not allowed to play in the current display mode."
On Corel WinDVD Pro 11 (which it used to play movies a few months ago with the trial, thus me trusting in you guys, I purchased the program) it now says "Your display environment does not support protected content playback." Thus, I deleted the trial before it even expired.
I do not use an alternate display, I use the HP2310 monitor I bought with my computer. A Radeon 2700 series HD graphics card. And my factory DVD/blu-ray drive.
Please help! This is the only blu-ray player I have, and I got a bunch of new blu-rays for both my birthday and Christmas that I can't even watch. =(
    Respectfully,
    Justin T

  • HP HDX 16 Blu-Ray discs will not play!

I have researched this Blu Ray issue for days without a real solution.  I am running Vista and notice many people feel upgrading to windows 7 was the issue, but I do not believe it is since I am still on Vista, with the same Blu-Ray disc issuey here.  Also I do not have Itunes another popular fix.  I did upgrade all the drivers I could and all the software I could from HP but did not resolve the issue.  I can play regular dvd discs but not the Blu-Ray ones with the exception of 1.  Surprisingly it is a newer one also.  Updating the Media Smart has also caused a problem with not being able to use the keyboard light at the top to open the dvd drive.  (one problem at a time though.)
The DVD Lightscribe drive shows as:  HL-DT-ST-BDDVDRW CT10L ATA Device
After years of this issue being a problem does anyone have a real fix solution? Or  Does the Blu-Ray player need to be replaced and with what.

  • PS3 (blu-ray player) will not play movie after menu selection on this particular project?

When trying to play my finished Blu-ray disc on PS3 the menus display and work good. However, when I choose a selection to play the movie it returns back to the main menu. It doesn't matter if I choose the main play button or one of the chapters on the scene selection menu, it does not play the movie but rather returns to the main menu. Menus appear to be working fine!
I've used Encore for years and I'm pretty familiar with the ins and outs of creating DVD's. I'm a little new at creating Blu-rays but have found the process very similar to creating DVDs with the addition of being able to add Popup menus. I pretty much followed the same process as a Blu-ray I created a couple months ago which worked fine. So I'm pretty much at a lose how to trouble shoot this issue. The only thing that has changed is that I've upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite but I really don't know if that is a factor or not. Encore did not run into any issues while working on the project.
Everything works when previewing my project in Encore. All the menus and buttons work and the movie plays fine. Also, no errors are reported after running the Check Project process on the Build tab.
I usually create an ISO file to burn from later. Encore created the ISO file and reported success.
I'm running Adobe CS6 on a Mac with Yosemite. FCPX was used to output the AC3 audio file and 264 video file. Menu transitions are ProRes422.
So far while trouble shooting I've made 3 coasters.
1st disc was created using Yosemite Disk Utility to burn the ISO file created by Encore (my usual way).
2nd, and 3rd disc I let Encore burn directly from the project.
3rd disk I removed the PopUp menu as I've only done one in the past and figured I would try that as a trouble shooting step.
So, since everything appears fine Encore I'm really not sure how to trouble shoot this. I wish Apple would support Blu-ray better so I could just open the ISO file in DVD Player like I do when I create DVD ISOs. So much easier than having to trouble shoot by creating coasters.
If anyone has come across this issue before and has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I'd like to complete this project and move on.
    Thanks in advance!

Well, at this point I'm thinking maybe something is wrong with the movie files output from FCPX even though they play fine in Encore. I noticed that there is a one frame difference between the video and audio file. The video file is 00:38:45:01 and the audio file is 00:38:45:02. I already output the file using Compressor. However, I'm still seeing the exact same time difference between the video and audio file when imported back into Encore. I'm going to rebuild the Encore project from scratch using the movie files output from Compressor and try again. If that doesn't work I'll use 7toX to convert FCPX XML and try importing the XML into Premier Pro and output the movie files that way for Encore. Or, output a master file from FCPX and let Encore do the transcoding.

  • Blu-Ray player won't burn a disc. Error Code "0"

Hi all, haven't made the jump to CC so we are using CS6 for everything.
I just recently installed a SSD and deleted/fresh install of the CS6 suite onto the newly wiped internal HD. Everything works perfect, except Encore.
Encore is refusing to burn to a DVD. I have been using CS6 since it went public and I have never once had this issue for a Blu-Ray or a DVD. Now, it won't even recognize that a disc is in the burner. It keeps saying to put in a DVD or a Blu-Ray DVD, hit OK etc. I do this, repeatedly, to no avail. Now I have tried creating a Blu-Ray Image which works perfectly fine. However I couldn't get that Image to burn succesfully to a blu-ray. Now it burnt without an issue, (using windows default burner which may be the issue), but when put into the blu-ray player it is just a black image with no menus or anything.
Back to Encore, It will trans-code the files without incident, it's when it goes to the burning session it will not accept any disc I put in. This is for both a Blu-Ray and a regular DVD. I keep getting Error Code "0" or simply, "insert a blu ray or dvd media disc an hit OK". Occasionally I got "Adobe Encore Failed" and that is it. Not sure what to do. I've been trying to burn since this morning.
I gave in and bought Nero 2015 just now in the hopes I can burn the blu-ray image correctly. Do I have any other options as this needs to be done today as I have to be an event tomorrow.
    Thank you!
    Jason

Adding to that, I am not getting the message "The Device Is Not Ready" and you can hit Retry and endless number of times with no results. Or just cancel and then it says Building Failed. Thoughts?

  • BDX1100 Blu Ray player won't connect to 50HM66 DLP TV via HDMI

Hi all.  I have been trying to connect my Toshiba BDX1100 Blu Ray player to my Toshiba 50HM66 DLP TV through the HDMI.  I have tried both HDMI 1 & 2 ports.  I have tried 3 different cables.  The Blu Ray player connects through HDMI on another TV so I don't think its the problem.  I've been through all the settings on each device and can't find anything to make it work.  I've searched and searched and read all I could find and nothing has worked, so I figured I would post here hoping to find an expert or someone experiencing similar problems.  I appreciate any feedback or advice.

  • Blu-ray Has Won The War

Now that Toshiba has given up on HD-DVD, I wonder what will happen to Blu-ray prices. They have to get cheaper for Blu-ray to become popular, but without competition, it may be awhile. Anyway, at some point, FCX users will finally have a way to output our HD content.

"The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) recently reported that sell-in indicators for Blu-ray products are proving more positive than even the most optimistic sales forecasts and market analyst reports.
"We have good reason to predict that this Q4 sales period will see the Blu-ray Disc revolution take hold in US mainstream markets and we will witness strong sales performance in every other geographical region," commented Victor Matsuda, Chairman of the BDA Global Promotions Committee.
"The 30 September release of Iron Man is another good example of Blu-ray's growing impact on movie releases. In the U.S., for the week commencing 29 September, the BD release of Iron Man is the best-selling movie of all packaged media (including DVD) on Amazon.com."
"At the IFA exhibition in Berlin last month, renowned media industry analyst Jim Bottoms (from Futuresource Consulting) predicted that in the US, Blu-ray Disc would end 2008 in an unassailable position as the next gen home entertainment packaged media format."

  • My Blu Ray player will not play pictures from my USB a second time

I was able to play it no problem a first time, but when I went back a few minutes later to run through the pictures stored on the USB a second time, the screen goes blank, player says Stop, and I'm brought back to the home screen.

  • My samsung Blu Ray player won't work on my LG tv

For some reason when I hook up my samsung Blu Ray player to my LG tv with the HDMI cable it will not work. I've tried it on other brands and it works fine. Any ideas?

    Hello mdeis909,
If your Samsung Blu-Ray Player works with other brands and TVs, it could mean that the HDMI port on your LG television is no longer working. If your LG TV has another HDMI port readily available, I'd suggest trying it to see if the issue is limited to one specific port.
    I hope this helps,

  • What are the RW speeds of my dv7 optical drive (Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner)?

I am struggling to understand what capabilities my optical drive actually has; I am clear on CD/DVD/BluRay.  The spec indicates "hp BDDVDRW CT40N", but when I search it, nothing pops up.  I want to record data, like backups, and would like to know recording speeds so I can purchase the appropriate blank DVD's

It is made by LG and has these speeds:
    Key Feature:
    Write Speed:
    DVD±R     8X
    DVD±R DL  4X
    DVD-RAM    5X
    DVD-RW     6X
    DVD±RW    8X
    Read Speed
    BD-ROM :Max 6X CLV
    CD    24X
    DVD   8X
As you can see, BD media is read only and you can use any kind of writable DVD media on the market.
