HP Wireless Desktop C6400

Hello,
I buyed a HP Wireless Desktop C6400 thinking it included a standard windows keyboard.
It is almost good, but there are no F1-F12 Key.
Is there a ways to solve that ?
A new or customizable firmware ?
A trick to emulate these keys on Windows (7)?
I would to keep that keyboard, so any help would be welcome !
Thanks in advance,
Patrice

Hi @3Pi , welcome to the HP Forums. I understand that you are unable to get F key functionality from your keyboard.
You may be able to hold down the Fn key in the bottom left, and then press the action keys at the top to get F key functions. The magnifying glass should start F1.
Let me know if that works.

  • Wireless Desktop C6400

    Hi!
How to change the input keys of my C6400 keyboard specifically the function keys F1-F12 without pressing the Fn and the "home logo" key to "window logo" key functionality?
    Thanks

    Hello djubal102,
That keyboard is intended for use with an Android OS. There is no setting in Windows to re-orient the keyboard.
Only some laptops have a the ability to enable and disable the Fn key in the bios.
Windows can only change the language used for the keyboard but that will probably not turn off the Fn key.
You would need to research and install a 3rd party app to re-orient the keyboard. You would do so at your own risk. HP does not advocate this.
    Hope that answers your question.

  • New Kensington Pilotboard wireless desktop - numerous issues Anyone else??

I just got a G4 500 AGP and also picked up a new Kensington Pilot Board wireless desktop on sale at Compxxx and it has given me fits and was wondering if anyone else had similar issues??
Here is what I have going on :
    1) Random keys not responding at all mostly towards right side of keyboard
    2) MASSIVE system slowdown which seemed to go away after going back to a generic keyboard/mouse that are wired
    3) Horrible lag when typing and I am not a fast typer by ANY standards
I put 2 new and fresh sets of batteries in both keyboard and mouse and re-synched about 10 times and restarted several times and un-installed and re-installed software as well with same problems persisting. Is this just a junk product or did I get a lemon??

Tim, welcome, I have the same keyboard and it work just fine. And yes, new batteries really make a huge difference. Try Repairing Permissions and see if that solves the issue. Also if the USB cable is plug into a PCI card move it to one of the computer outlets and try moving the censor to a new location.
The tracking speed of the mouse can be adjusted but this should not effect the OS performance at all.

  • Wireless Desktop not detecting E2000

I recently upgraded from an old WRT54G2 router to a E2000, and while it's solved a few problems, it's also caused a few. My wireless desktop will not pick up the E2000. It picks up signals around it so I know the wireless card is working, and our new laptop also picks up the network without a problem. When I try to connect to a network, our SSID just will not show up on the desktop as it does on the laptop. Does anyone know why? It worked amazingly until I upgraded the router.

Try changing the SSID on your E2000 router, dont use the default. Also try using different channels on your router and see which channel suits your network environment - a chnnel that your desktop detects. how far is this computer from the router, btw?

Before you splash out on a new keyboard/mouse, you may find the issues you have with your present one are possible to resolve with a small amount of jiggling locations. For example, if you can move the location of the cordless receiver, you will likely find a position where the signal it picks up is better.
Other than that, due to the frequencies in use and the limitations in power, there is little to choose between different brands and models of cordless keyboards and mice in terms of effective range, and while it may be that the Kensington model you link to is recommended by many, the only way to know if it will help in your situation, with whatever range and potential interference issues you have, is really by trying it yourself.

  • I am replacing my iMac with a Windows 7 OS Wireless Desktop. What storage capabilities will the TC provide?

I am replacing my iMac with a Windows 7 OS Wireless Desktop. What storage capabilities will the TC provide?

You are a brave man posting that sort of info around here.
The TC is still a good router with storage ability you can use on Win7. It is slow and more suited to the wireless backup for laptops, which is what it was ideal for. So if you don't yet own a TC, don't buy one.
You can do as well with a USB hard drive on a router. But if  you already have it, it is usable, albeit slow.

  • Wireless desktop and notebook and no hard wire to router

My parents have a wireless router, and they have the receiver for their desktop and a buitl in wireless for their laptop.
The laptop works fine picking up the signal but the desktop does not work. Do I need to install the router software into the desktop to initiate a wireless network? And if so, do I need to have it hard wired to the desktop to do so?

Hi try to uninstall and reinstall the driver of the wireless NIC of your desktop. The router doesnt have a driver, you dont have to like install the router on the desktop.

  • Airplay: Wireless desktop speakers?

I have a wonderful pair of Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 speakers on my desk, and I'm very happy with the sound quality, but I'm trying to see if I can diminish the growing number of cords on my desk.  So I'm wondering if anyone makes really good desktop speakers that are wireless.  Airplay, Ethernet, Bluetooth, whatever.
I know B&W makes the Zeppelin Air, and I'm going to check that out, but I'm not sure a single unit will sounds as good as the pair of speakers I now have.  In theory, I'd prefer a 2.0 or 2.1 system.  But if the Zepplein sounds really good, I'd go with it.
    Any recommendations?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that would be fine if my only audio need was to play iTunes through the speakers.  But I want these to be the speakers I use for everything that comes through my computer, from website audio to DVDs.  I don't think Airport Express hooked up to powered speakers will do that.

  • HP Deskjet 3050A-J611a - laptop wireless - desktop wired possible to print from it?

I just bought the HP Deskjet 3050A-J611a and installed it wireless on my laptop. (printer is in another room) We also have a desktop computer (in my daughter her room) which is connected to the internet with a cable. I was wondering if it would be possible to also print from the desktop computer without having to use a wireless Wifi USB stick or something. (the modem is right next to the computer so preferably we would like to leave it wired)  Maybe there is a way to print using the modem as the connection? Thanks in advance

    Hi Michelle150573,
You can share the printer from the laptop, but the most reliable way to install it on the desktop would be to infest in a wireless USB adapter, and then install it wirelessly to her computer. Wireless USB adapters run from $10 to $30 on newegg.com

  • Wireless desktop video possible?

Looking for a method to display my MacBook desktop video on a display using some type of wireless interface. Are there any acceptable solutions which will permit a reasonable resolution (1280 or 1440 would be great). Possibly some type of transceiver set using HDMI or DVI-D? Thanks...MG

  • OfficeJet 8500a Plus wireless; Desktop is running XP sp3 ... printing wrong characters on .pdf docs

HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus on a wireless network; Win XP SP3.  Also have HP Deskjet 882C connected via USB to same computer.
When printing .pdf docs on the 8500, unpredictably, on some lines or sections of the document, the type prints as though it has switched fonts to a foreign language like Greek or Russian ... totally uncomprehensible.  I can attempt to print the same doc again, and I may get additional lines or sections in the wrong font, even though they printed correctly the first time.
I can print the same document on my 882C first time, every time without error.
Attempted to update 8500 drivers and firmware, but control panel on 8500 says no updates available.

Are you sure your using the 8500A drivers and not the 8500- they can and will cause this?  If not please check the print preview of that job and see if it looks okay and let me know.  Also make sure your Adobe is up to date... which version do you have?

  • Wireless desktop?

I was wondering what usb wireless network adapter I have to get to have my computer in the basement connect to my computer upstairs with the wireless adapter to my modem?  My Wii connects to my computer upstairs.  Is this possible and how much does it cost?  Thanks for your time
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well a wireless USB adapter will allow you to get online wirelessly. A USB flash drive will allow you to store stuff like a floppy disk.
