HP XB4 Media Notebook Docking Station

I am looking at purchasing an XB4 docking station for my DV6000 laptop and was wondering if anyone could tell me whether the HDMI port on the laptop is still functional whilst the laptop is connected to the dock, because i would like to connect to a full HD monitor and would prefer to use the HDMI port over the VGA that is integrated into the dock.
Thanks,

just wondering if you ever found such  an adapter for the cable, i find myself in the same possition. New laptop and not port to fit my HP xb4 Docking Station

  • Notebook docking stations

    I have an HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC. Does HP make a docking station that will power two external LCD screens at the same time? I need to operate the two screens as screen 1 and screen 2 for reading seperate documents. Thanks, Gene.

    Hello VitaA1961,
    Yes, those docking stations will charge your computer while it's hooked up to them. Of course, the docking station itself will require a power outlet.
    Hope that answers your question.
    Cheers,

  • Xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station Compatibility?

    I am in the market for a new laptop. I bought and have loved using the HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station. I would like to buy a new HP laptop that will allow me to continue using the docking station.
    What new HP laptops are compatible with the HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station?

    Hi,
    The good news is, it compatible with all laptops which have USB 2.0 ports (you can use USB 3.0 port but won't get USB 3.0 speed):

  • No sound from xb4 Docking Station

    Using the HP Entertainment PC with the xb4 Media Docking Station.  Can not get the mute button to turn off on the docking station. It will control the notebook volume and mute buttons, but will not turn it off on the station.  The notebook sounds great until it is plugged into the station, and it becomes silent.  No sound coming from the speakers at all. Purchased the entire package 4 months ago, talked with hp tech. support for several hours, and just received the third docking station today yet I'm still having the same problem.  The second docking station worked great for about 2 months, then the computer was disconnected and once the computer was reconnected the problem emerged.  The first and third stations had the problem from the first connection.  The only thing plugged into the station is the power adapter.
     Please if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!!

    I do suffer the same pain, i just received the (XB4) replacement from Hp, because I've been having the same problem, and after hours with tech support finally they agree to send it!!! and guess what...... the same old history, no sound come out, the funny thing is that my wife has one xb4 too, and we had been doing all kind of trouble shooting tests and my wife's docking st. works perfect, now I can't express my how far my frustration has reached.
    Anyway I do recommend to send your Docking Station + Replacement Docking Station and get your Money back or exchange it for some other product, because I really and strongly believe that my time is more important and valuable than dealing with this kind of issues where i paid for a quality product and it results not to be, and/plus uses my time in order to figure out how to fix it (i don't think so!!!).
    This is a Bad one Hp, i like your products, but this one really got me out my nerves.
    Have a nice day, and hope to hear something helpful from HP soon

  • Is there software for HP xb4 Docking Station, to make it work properly??

    I've searched but not found any software for my xb4 Docking Station;     several things not working on it, including the media bay that's supposed to accept a Personal Media Drive in its slot, but isn't recognizing it.
    thanks for any help.

    You do not want to use a standard 30 pin to lightning adaptor.
    It would put all the weight on the lightning pin and most likely snap.
    You can use one that has a cable, it would connect but have the device lay flat near the dock.

  • Docking Station T430, Graphic interfaces from notebook and docking station usable at once?

    Dear community,
    I have a Thinkpad T430 and I want to use two external monitors.
    The Thinkpad T430 has just one mini Displayport and I do not want to use the VGA port.
    So I thought about buying a docking station.
    But there are several ones.
    I just need an additional (Miini)Display or DVI port.
    The question is, if I buy a docking station
    which provides an addition Mini Display Port or an additional DVI port am I able to use the one from the docking station and the notebook's integrated mini display port?
    Thanks for your help.
    Kind regards

  • Trouble with multi-media docking station

    I have used my multi-media docking station every night since I got the phone in September. Last night I put my phone in and went to sleep only to wake up at 5 and realize that its not charging.
    I took the phone off and put it back on and it still won't charge. After several tries I got up and got my usb charger and my phone charges fine on it.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks

    Did you try taking the plug out of the back of the docking station and then reinserting it. Maybe it was knocked loose.

  • Docking station for my HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC

    I just bought this laptop and I need to buy a dociking station to it. With my previous laptop there was a connector on the bottom that would snap to the docking station and make it work.  The HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC does not seem to have any special connections. What dociking station it uses? Thanks

    Consumer laptops no longer have an option for a "snap down" dock which is a shame but now industry standard. HP Business models do have that option. The only thing you can use with consumer models is a USB 3.0 "docking station" which is a bit of a misnomer since they are really "port replicators". However, USB 3.0 has enough bandwidth to replicate any and all ports on the laptop so they can have gigabit ethernet, good audio and even multi-monitor video that works fine.  Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/HP-Replicator-Docking-H1L08AA-ABA/dp/B008KMDVME   See, this one has 2 x usb 2 2 x usb 3, audio, ethernet, hdmi and displayport. It has its own power supply so when you hook up the laptop you hook up two cables to the laptop...its own power cord, and then connect this into one usb 3.0 on the laptop. Almost as quick as "snap down".  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

  • My hp split x2 13m-101 dock station battery discharge while the notebook is off

    hello everyone i bought the notebook hp split x2 13m-101 it works great but after i turn it off and try to use it in the next time the dock starion battery decreasing by itself example: i charge the notebook for 100% for the 2 batteries.... when i try to use it after 2 days the battery 1 is 100% but the battery 2 is 47%.... the battery 2 is the dock station battery. i did the battery test and the results were good. any help!!!

    Hi @Elielb ,
    I understand that you have the  hp split x2 13m-10.  After turning it off and leaving it docked for 2 days the second battery shows only 47%.  You have tested both batteries and they are fine.
    I know you tested the batteries, did you also callibrate them?

    Have you ran The HP Support Assistant to aid with HP updates and resolving issues?
    Have you tried Using Automated Troubleshooting (Windows 8)?
    There is a bios update for your notebook, that may help to resolve this difficulty.   Updating the BIOS. A bios update does have the potential to cause damage.  I suggest contacting HP support for assistance with that.

  • Need expansion port 3 docking station for dv6-1211ax for home use .... suggestions please ...

    i have a dv6-1211ax laptop and planning to get a hp expansion port 3 based docking station for home use ...  can anyone suggest or comment on how they really perform ..

    I have a pair of HP XB4 Notebook Media Docking Stations being used on two DV7s.  I think they work quite well, unlike the current docking stations they use the expansion port 3 and you can power both the laptop and the docking stations from a single power supply.  Speaker sound especially subwoofer is much better than the laptops (these are 2009 and 2010 model DV7s so they have the Altec Lansing speakers (as does the docking station) vs. the 2011 laptop Beats Audio.
    I also like the way the docking station raises the laptop 6-8 inches above desk level.
    Do make sure your system is using the expansion port 3 though since at least some of the 2011 systems no longer have the expansion port (the connection from the station to the laptop is via USB 2.0 hopefully at some time the new docking stations will be updated to use USB 3.0) along with the laptops.
    For a laptop that is being used a Desktop replacement I would highly recommend the XB4
    p.s since HP doesn't sell them anymore you may have to go to Ebay, Amazon or a wholeseller)

  • No external video on docking station in safe mode?

    Hi,
    I have xb4 docking station with external monitor, and dv6 laptop; because of space, I only use the external monitor (not the laptop's monitor).  Unless full OS is booted, I getno video -- so safe mode, disk check, anything pre-boot, I got squat.  It's really hard to do anything without being able to see what's going on.....
    Is anyone else experiencing this, with dv6 or other laptops?  Do any laptops work correctly (that is, you can see what's going on in safe mode, etc.)?
    I would kind of understand if the USB-connected wireless mouse and keyboard didn't work in this mode, but even that is something that could be overcome by including drivers in the BIOS.
    If this disturbs you, please let HP know!  They won't do anything about it unless "enough" people complain.

    I have having a horrific time with Firefox 24 crashing. I have run many anti-virus, tried suggestions on here. Then I decided to run the ADS Spy tool in the Misc. Tools that come with Hijack This from Trend Micro.
    The results showed four supposed "Microsoft" folders, that were odd. I am familiar with Microsoft folder types but these were very odd, not only because of where they were, but also because when I tried to find them in the detected location, they were not there!! And I DO have "Show Hidden Files and Folders" enabled.
    I looked all over for the folders, inside EVERY other Microsoft folder in "Applications", both in the "All Users" and the personalized one that is also found there as well as in Local Settings. They weren't there either. They were detected as being in: Docs and Settings > Local Users > Applications > Microsoft then named as, (not exact names, I forgot to write them out but these are representative of those names):
    * yv9d0fkyxb4e
    * vq5stu20izqm
    * u3vxf7d5wrk8
    * qo0c6ep2vvi1
    These are usually the kinds of names tagging viruses/trojans. And I keep close tabs on what is inside folders, I've learned over time to do that, not just rely on antivirus software. It has paid off more than a few times. But these kind of names are usually found as some kind of text files if it's a virus. And I KNOW that they were not there before. I had run ADS Spy about two weeks earlier. With names like that I would have seen them as obviously suspicious.
    So.... I deleted them from Hijack This when they were found in a second scan for ADS Spy entries, and once again I could not find them anywhere.
    Since then my computer has been working perfectly as has Flash Player and Windows Media Player. Not one crash or glitch and I am on my computer all day and night until bed
