HP1020 Download Software for MacBook Pro

I have an HP1020.  I need to download the software so I can print from my MacBook Pro.  Apple told me to go online and download the software for HP1022.   I can't figure out how to do this and I don't know what "Lion" or "White Snow" or whatever is.  All I know is I need to print and I can't do this.  Could you please help me?  Thanks!

So for this printer and this OS, all you need to do is download the drivers from Apple Software Update. Here is a document that should help guide you through...
HP Products with Print Drivers Supported in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, OS X 10.7 Lion, and Mac OS X 10...
Let me know if you need more help.

Can I download iPhotos for macbook pro 10.6.8 and re-install?

If your computer shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, it'll have come with a DVD. If needed, phone Apple and order a replacement.
Unless you got Mac OS X Server with it, which is highly unlikely for a portable computer, that DVD will contain iLife.

    Hey Guys!
I have a very big problem, for my uni it is required for me to use SPSS and of course my university is mac unfriendly.
So I have a question if anyone know of the link for a free trial version of SPSS for Macbook pro 10.6.8.

    Welcome to the forum, mladizi!
Remember that Google is your friend.
The IBM website has a 14-day trial of version 21.
Comparison of versions 18-21 for Mac OS 10.5-10.8.

It may seem that way if you see more PCs than Macs. Consider checking with the University's IT Department or Bookstore to see if they have a relation with some of the retailers of academic version software such as OntheHub. These retailers offer discounts on purchase or rental of many types of software such as the SPSS GradPack. See the links to Student versions on that web page.
    Good Luck!

    Hi..
Both Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac and ClamXav are recomended and both are free.
Actually, malware is more of a threat on a Mac than a virus.

  • HP Print Software for MacBook Pro and Windows 7 gone awry on HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

Almost one year ago today I wrote a post about my first problem with HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911.  Today I write my last.
I have an HP OJP 8600, with option Tray 2 included, and auto feed included.  My system test computers are:
    1.  Apple MacBook Pro, OS X 9.5, HP software is the only 3rd party software.
    2.  HP Laptop, Windows 7.
The OJP wireless radio gave up, so I cannot run it wirelessly.  It is connected by ethernet to my router.  All five of my computers can use.  All of the functions of the printer are usable.  For example: it prints, it scans, it copies, it faxes.  All functions working.  My problem is with the HP software download to the Apple and to the HP Laptop.
I would like to be able to use all of the feature settings when I print.  But alas, I cannot.  Both the Apple and the HP Laptop have a similar appearing window that opens when you choose to print something.  In theory, you are supposed to be able to control a range of paper types and quality, print type and quality, and (in my case with the two trays) what tray to use to select the paper.
I regret neither of the computers perform these functions.  And all of the mistakes that I find on the Apple computer I find on the HP Laptop Windows 7 computer.
I don't have the time to test every combination.  But I think the table below will help you get an idea of what the problem is with the software that HP sends offshore for maintenance.
The results of the paper quality selection, the print quality selection, and the tray availability are as follows:
    PAPER              PRINT QUALITY                         TRAY AVAILABILITY
    Plain Paper
    Plain Paper  DRAFT/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray              Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2
Thick Paper  DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    HP Bright    DRAFT/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray              Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2
    InkJet
    Other        DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
HP Bright    DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Specialty
    Other        DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Card         DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Brochure
HP Brochure  DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Other        DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
In summary the new HP Print software for Apple and Windows 7 computers has identical programming mistakes on both operating systems.  Under no circumstances can I use the MAX DPI setting.
The user cannot use the features that are built in to the HP software because the paper selections override the locked tray, the print quality, and the unusually small list of HP selection of papers.
It is time to invoke my warrenty rights.  There are too many systemic problems with the software and the device.  I don't have any more time to act as an unpaid system test analyst for HP.
Who do I contact to use my warrenty before it runs out in a few weeks?

    Hi,
Those are not programming mistakes, but those are limitations of the product, please check the printer specifications below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02858465&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_u...
As you may find under Paper-handling specifications > Paper tray capacities, Tray 2 only support Plain Paper.
Maximum DPI is only only supported on Photo Paper, therefore those limitations are applicable.. these limitations are also listed on the Printing Specifications section above, Maximum DPI is listed as 4800 by 1200 dpi:
Color print resolution: HP enhanced photo quality with Vivera inks (up to 4800 by 1200 dpi Optimized on HP Premium Plus photo papers with 1200 x 1200 input dpi)
As well that can be find listed within the Print photos on photo paper or the Print borderless documents sections, you may simply search for Maximum DPI within the user guide as a reference:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03026243.pdf
Those are not an issues with the printer but those expected limitations fully meet the product specification.

  • Do I need internet security software for macbook pro

When I purchase my new MacBook Pro from Bestbuy, it came with free internet security software that is Mac compatible.  Do I need it?

I would not download and install any additional software if it was me...with a firewall in place, and good computing practices, the Mac OS X system does a great job of self-protection.  The info in Thomas's site is also a big help.
Also, keep in mind that the worst of the worst are Norton and McAfee for Mac OS X systems, and MacKeeper is generally considered to be malware in itself...almost impossible to remove once installed because of the way it hides files that keep popping up on you.

  • Download apps for macbook pro

Does anyone know what app and how to download it to read books on the MacBook Pro? I downloaded a book for my daughter to read with no issues thru iTunes but can not figure out how to have her read it... and I'm beyond frustrated right now...
Please advise if anyone can help!!
    Thanks
    Alex

You can download audiobooks from iTunes Store, but you would buy ebooks from the iBook Store.  And any ebooks purchased through iBooks can only be read using iBooks on an iOS device.
Other ebook vendors offer their own readers and apps, including apps for OS X and Windows - Barnes and Noble's Nook app, Amazon's Kindle app, Kobo's ereader app,... there are several.  You can also use some of these to read DRM locked ebooks from other vendors using Adobe Digital Editions software to "authorize" a book (eg. to authorized a Barnes and Noble DRM locked ebook to be read in Kobo's ereader or vice versa).  Most of them will also be fine with DRM-free ebub formatted ebooks.
But if you buy ebooks from Apple's iBook Store, you will need to use iBooks on an Apple iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch - there is no version of iBooks for OS X nor Windows).

  • What is the best temperature gauge software for MacBook Pro?

My MacBook Pro (late 2011, i7 Quad 2.4 GHz, SSD, OS 10.8.5, 8 Gigs RAM) which I use for pro audio production has started stuttering while playing back audio a couple of times - only editing a stereo track with no plug-ins.  I thought it was my Glyph drive because my studio can get warm when the weather's hot in San Diego, even though I've never experienced this before.  However, I moved the current project to my internal SSD boot drive and it started again after using the computer for several hours.  I now think it's a heat issue effecting the laptop itself (it was 85 degrees F in my room).  I want to buy the best software for checking temperatures (CPU, drives, etc.) and am looking at both iStat Menus and Temperature Guage.
Are there any recommendations for which is best (or if something else is better)?  I would rather pay more for software that won't cause me problems when I'm doing large mixes, etc.
    Thanks!
    Robert

They all access the same data, so one's as good as another. iStat Menus is good for displaying a variety of information in the menubar for convenient access. But if all you want are temperature readings then I would select Temperature Monitor 4.98.

  • Any suggestions on a good video editing software for MacBook Pro

I have just joined the MacBook Pro community would like an idea for good video software options

Also, compare the hardware specification (not just minimums) needed to actually
use the video editing software; plus consider external storage options of huge
capacity since most portable computers don't really have all that much storage.
A few years ago some suggested Avid Media Composer as professional software
but then in the same discussion, said the MacBook Pro may not be able to handle
the demands of the application; and went on to suggest an Apple Mac Pro tower.
Some software needs require further study prior to committing resources & funds
to discover perhaps the product may/may not be adequate. Avid likely is still costly.
Hopefully you can get a great editor with a few creative options, for a decent price.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Photo corrupted, repair software for MacBook Pro?

I have transferred photos from an old PC to a MacBook Pro.  I noticed in the PC some of the photos are corrupted which ends up the same on my Mac after I transferred them.  They are photos for a large family book that I am working on.
I need to know if there is (preferably free) software to repair/restore photos for a Mac?
Any thoughts are appreciated before I back up my Mac pictures/files on an external hard-drive.  I don't want to lose any of the photos.
    Thanks!

Do not waste money on Disk Warrior. First of all, it doesn't fix corrupt files at all, ever. It recovers damaged volume directories. Second, if you have adequate backups, you'll never need to recover a damaged directory, so you'll never need Disk Warrior. In this situation, it will do you no good at all. Your only hope is to restore the damaged files from a backup. If you don't have one, there's nothing to do. You will inevitably lose all data that isn't backed up, sooner or later.
Linc, Cannot argue with that at all.
I have an enormous number of support calls where Disk Warrior resolved or even saved a corrupted drive or RAID. Almost always this is necessitated only because there were insufficient backups in place. And Linc is absolutely correct, DW does not do anything except repair and modify directories. I have owned Disk Warrior for 10 years or more and have not used it for more years than I can remember. I maintain backups of everything and always find it easier to revert to a backup than to attempt repairs of a problem RAID/drive/directory/set of files.
In your case, I would not rule it out if you owned it, but would not spend money on it now. If you cannot go to the source PC and try to recover these files, then your copying corrupted file to a different operating system has negligible chance of repairing them.

  • Voice activated/transcription software for MacBook Pro?

Can anyone recommend any voice activated and/or transcription software for my Mac Book Pro? I have interviews to do and transcribe!!
    Any help gratefully received....
    Thanks
    S

Check http://www.roaringapps.com/ for alternatives, and Running Windows on a Mac, and Connecting it to Mac.
Note, you posted to the 10.3 forum, which does not run on the MacBook Pro.   Yosemite software is still beta, and 10.6 software on Roaringapps is not complete.  Go to Apple menu -> About this Mac to verify which operating system you have.

  • AirPrint vs. Printer Software for Macbook Pro? Which one is best?

I know I use Airprint for my mobile gadgets, but when setting up a new HP officejet printer in system prefs for my Macbook Pro and my Macbook Air, I have a choice between using Airprint as the driver OR using HP Printer Software specific to my printer as the driver.....which one is best to use?
    Thanks much for your help.

Thank you for the response. I suppose I can try each format, but was hoping for a quick answer and possibly some information about differences between the two that I might not readily notice.
I am trying airprint now and notice no difference in speed to print, but do notice that there are different printing choices in the print dialogue box.
