HP1050A only prints photos in grayscale

I have a strange problem with my HP 1050A all-in-one. It will only print images in grayscale. If I print text in colour, it prints in the right colour. If I print a test page, the Windows logo prints in colour. If i print a diagnostic page, the colours print correctly. If I print an image, it is always in grayscale. The "Print in grayscale" option in Advanced Printing Preferences is set to "Off". HP diagnostics can find nothing wrong, nor can Microsoft's Printing Troubleshooter.
Anyone here got any ideas about this?
I use Windows 7 64 bit on a home-built PC.

Hello @Gazdee,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see when you print photos to your HP Deskjet 1050A it only prints in grayscale. All other prints, print with color, test pages, documents etc.. The grayscale  options are set to off. To better help you please leave me with the following information:
1. Which program are you printing photos from?
2. Do you get any error messages, on the Computer or Control panel of the DJ 1050?
3. What are the estimated ink levels for all cartridges?
4. Are you able to make a Color copy?
5. Are you connected USB or Wireless?
6. Have you ever been able to print color photos?
I would like you to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor > www.hp.com/go/tools
-- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
I look forward to hearing from you so we can continue troubleshooting!
Thanks,
HevnLgh

  • IPhoto prints photos in grayscale. Other apps print them in color.

If I print photos from iPhoto to a color printer (HP Photosmart 3300), they print as grayscale. They show as color in the print dialogs and in print preview, but they physically print as grayscale. If I print the same photos using Photoshop or Safari (for example) they correctly print in color. The photos have an RGB profile and the printer seems to have the right colorsync setup (printer setup utility, then printer utility to check). As I said, other apps print in color fine; only iPhoto doesn't.
    Any suggestions please?

  • 8750 printer will only print a small part of a photo what ever size paper I use and prferences

Is there a solution to printing as when I try to print a photo either in 6x4 or even A4 it still only prints a small section of the photo in one corner of the paper and after all preferences checked it still remains the same.

    Hi there john2boy,
With the jam and print missing ink lets try downloading and running the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03291586&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=408...
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • Printing only partial photos

I'm working on an iBook G4 and printing to a HP all-in-one 6100 series printer. I am sending a photo 4x6 size, two to a page to the printer. Sometimes it prints fine, then other times it only prints a sliver of the picture and then the printer seems to freeze. Any fix for this? I'm wasting lots of photo paper! Thanks in advance!

    @Druffer, Welcome to the Forums!
If you were to save the attachment to your computer, you should have more options within your settings to print only the pages you need, opposed to the entire document that you may not fully need. You should see these options in programs such as Microsoft Word.
I hope this helps, if you need any further assistance, please let me know!

  • I am unable to select the correct paper size when printing photo's in iPhoto 11. When I select the paper size in the custom window for 4x6 prints the prints only appear on an 8 1/2x11 page. My Mac is a year old iMac running 10.8.2.

I am unable to print 4x6 photo's using iPhoto 11. When I do they only print out on lettter size paper even though I enter 4x6 in the custom window in the print size menu. My older Snow Leopard system using iPhoto 9 the paper size window offered a 4x6 paper size which worked well.

Selecting paper size in the first sreen tellis iPhoto what papery you are going to use - it does not tell the printer what paper to use - printer specific options on on the last (second or third if you customize the print) screen where you tell the print any specifics like paper source (typically printers need to you tell them where a specific paper is loaded - they do not really know the sizes in each paper tray)

  • Why will my photos only print in black and white?

My computer crashed a while ago and I had to re-install my photoshop elements 6. Since then, photos will only print in black and white through elements, even though they'll print in colour through other programs on my computer. This must be a settings issue in the elements program but I can't find anything that seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi toxryan,
Thanks for taking the time to help. Issue definitely not resolved.
In Organiser there is no direct print link so I click on 'file' then 'print'. There are no relevant options in the print box - options only deal with type of printer, size of paper etc. If I try 'page setup' there are no relevant options. If I try 'more options' the only mention of colour is 'colour management' where it asks if I want print space same as the source etc.
This is driving me mad. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Heather

  • Only prints part of photo

I am trying to print a 12x16 in photo from iPhoto using an Epson 1280 printer. Unfortunately, the printer only prints part (about 1/4 of the photo). It then ejects the photo paper as if it were finished with the print job. I downloaded the latest driver from the Epson website. I also tried deleting the .plist file in the Library folder (I ended up restoring it because the next time I launched iPhoto, almost all of my photos were missing). Finally, I also tried creating and printing from a new user account. The only thing that seemed to work was when I tried printing an 8x10 of the same photo (to save ink, I printed it in B/w rather than color, though I can't imagine that made a difference). Incidentally, I had the same problem once before and managed to solve it. Unfortunately, I can't remember how -- my best recollection is that it had something to do with drivers and/or Library files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Heather:
The problem is that the Epson 1280 does not support 12x16 borderless prints. From the Epson site:
    "It produces captivating borderless 4" x 6", 5" x 7", 8" x 10", letter (8.5" x 11"), 11" x 14" and 13" x 19" color photos"
If you don't need borderless select the paper size that the printer supports that will hold that size print and select a custom sized print in the Print window. It should print in the center of the paper used.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem. I could have written the same text. And I have'nt found solutions. Except, perhaps, change this printer (and quit HP?).
Any suggestions would be really much appreciated.
Thank you for your possible responses.

  • C4400 only prints 1/3 of a photo on 4 X 6 photo paper. Filled out printer setup perfectly! Help!

C4400 only prints 1/3 of a photo on 4 X 6 photo paper. Filled out printer setup perfectly! Help!

    Fritzk,
Some other useful info would be connection method to the printer and the application we are printing from, as well as if other printing (docs etc) work or not. But in the mean time lets also go through some of the basics together. Lets make sure the printer is set properly for photos using printing preferences:
-Click the start button and then select devices and printers.
-Right click your printer and select printing preferences.
-In the new window that appears on the left you will see printing shortcuts. There will be one marked as photo or some variation - select that. To the right ensure that the size is set to 4x6.
-Click ok to close the window and save the changes.
Try the print again. If it does not resolve anything lets move on to making sure we have no software tripping us up. Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en - It can fix a lot on its own and if not give us a better idea of what is going on. Let us know the results.
If all the software components check out use this article as it handles partial prints under unique circumstances: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01892627&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
Give the steps listed under windows a try and let us know if it helps.

Thank you everyone. I figured it out. I thought that you can use regular paper to print pictures from photos on Ipad. This is not possible. I was able to use regular print paper to print from my mail. My problem is solved!!

When I print on photo paper it only prints in black and white. How can I fix this?

Does it print correctly on plain paper?
What do you do differently to print on Photo Paper than to print on plain paper?
iPhoto has no idea of what paper is being printed - that is totally a function of the printer and the print driver supplied with the printer - you need to look at the printer specific options and your printer manual and/or support forums

Yes, I can view/hide the OSK with no problem but the keyboard, itself, changed somehow.
