HP1102w wireless on MAC OSX 10.6.8 - problems in installing

Hallo to everybody.
I will try to explain my problem completely. I am desperate.
I have a printer HP1102w and I want to use it wireless with my iMAC running OSX vers. 10.6.8
I have a home wireless network with a Netgear wireless router.
MAC is perfectly running on Internet and I can access my home-network from everywhere also with my Windows Laptop.
Now I want to install my printer to print wireless from my iMAC.
No way until now.
When I installed the software from the CD the first time, I chose NETWORK installation and I also put my WEP keys for the network. No success.
Then I installed the latest software from HP website and when I click on CONFIG HTML from the settings window , it opens the html code and I can not see it a s a web page. What is wrong ?
Blu LED on the printer is blinking all the time.
Printer is recognized and it prints when I use a USB cable to the MAC.
Please help me.
Thanks a lot.
Riccardo, Florence, Italy.

A couple of specific things I see:
1. Do not use a software CD (ever, if you can help it).  It is often out of date.  In your case it is likely not compatible with Snow Leopard (10.6).    Let me know if you have any HP software in your Applications folder.
2. Do not use WEP, it is not secure and can also cause connection problems.  Use WPA with a strong (13+ character) password that YOU create.

I need to connect a eMac - power mac 6,4 -PowerPC G4 (1.1) to the internet wirelessly  running mac osx 10.4.11.
Can anyone advise me please. I have done some research and think a USB adapter is the best option as I doubt the eMac will be able to take a card but the software will have to be able to run on tiger.

Might be an idea to ask them for confirmaion that it will work with your Mac, but it should do!

is it free to upgrade to iPhoto 11, if it automatically appears on my updates, and if I'm using Mac OSX version 10.7.5, pre installed iphoto when i got my Mac.

Yes. Don't worry, Apple won't let you download something that requires a purchase before actually paying.

  • Mac OSX 10.5.4 won't install

Hey, i've got a macbook pro, and every time my automatic update tries to install the new update for the OS, and I always get this message:
The Update "Mac Os X Update Combined" can't be installed.
The installer could nat validate the contents of the "Mac OSUpdCombo10.5.4" package. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
And by the way, everything else installs just fine, but this hasn't been installing for months on end now. What is going on and what do I need to do???

Have you tried deleting your existing download of "Mac OSUpdCombo10.5.4" and downloading and installing a fresh copy from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1054comboupdate.html ?

  • How to connect Photosmart C4795 to Wireless Network - Mac OSX 10.8.4

I am desperately confused here!  When I bought the printer 2-ish years ago I was able to set it up and have it connected to my network no problem.  Since then I have moved and updated my OS to Mountain Lion and lost my installation CD.  As of now, this is where things stand.
When I turned the printer on and connected it to my iMac via the USB cable, the computer found it and installed it with no issues.  I can print with no issues when the USB cable is plugged in.
Using the printers built in display, I have run the HP Network Configuration and the Wireless Network Test.  The printer can see my network, but it won't connect to it.  I have no bloody idea where I need to go to enter my network password so the printer can get online.
I've manually downloaded the HP Driver found at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907  and that put the HP Utility on my computer (which was already there) but I don't see any place in the utility software that would let me enter my network password or even configure network settings for the printer.
My router is an Apple Airport Extreme, and the firmware is up to date.  Everything on my computer seems to be up to date.  I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this thing online.  Any help would be greatly appreciated =)

Yup, there is no way to install your printer using OS X 10.8, sorry.
However, there are alternatives.  Here is the easiest way:
    1. On the front of the printer: Setup [Scan] > Wireless > Restore Defaults.
    2. In the same Wireless menu, start WPS Pushbutton.
    3. On your Mac go to Applications > Utilities > Airport Utility.  Choose your Airport and click Edit.
    4. In the menu bar at the top of your screen go to Base Station > Add WPS Printer.
    5. Choose the FIrst Attempt mode, then Continue.
Now your printer should be connected to your wireless network.  Next, go to System Prefs > Print & Scan, click the '+' sign to add your printer.

  • Photosmart 5520 connected but no wireless printing nor wireless direct / Mac OSX 10.6.8

Hi, I've got the Photosmart 5520 installed a few weeks ago and after the set up wireless printing was working fine for a day, but never since. My computer runs on OSX10.6.8 and the modem is a MOBILE Wifi E589. The printer is connected to the network, network test results came up fine, i can choose the printer wirelessly in the printmenu but then get the message: Unable to connect to printer / Network host busy alternating. The network test result comes up fine, no issues. Ive unplugged the whole lot and restarted it (modem/compuet/printer) without success. Wiresless direct doesn't seem to work either. What's next??
    Thanks heaps in advance!!!

    Hi @Kimaschi,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you cannot print with your HP Photosmart using a wireless connection, or wireless direct on your Mac OS X 10.6.8 computer. I am happy to help!
I would recommend to go through the following guides:
'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Mac OS X.
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Also I believe this website, Wireless printing center, has a lot of useful information as well.
A couple of questions, if you don't mind:
Do you see any error messages on the printer's control panel?
Can the printer make copies? Copy Text or Mixed Documents.
Have you tried printing using a USB connection? If so, does it print?
Hope the guides help, and hope to hear back from you soon!

  • IPhoto 4.0.3 vs Mac OSX 10.4.7 Problem?

Since I've installed 10.4.7, I cannot import any new photos into my iPhoto Photo Library. Even putting several photos onto a HD, then importing just one into iPhoto causes iPhoto to crash, w/o any error message!
There is plenty of free space (many gigabytes) in the HD for the Photo Library.
    Any ideas?
    G4 800MHz Quicksilver 2002   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

OK, Problem solved! When deleting the iPhoto Preference file, iPhoto lost the connection to its Photo Library, since it is on another, larger HD. While getting it back, I discovered that, updating to OSX 10.4.7 must have reset the permissions on this HD, so I could read, but not write to it. But iPhoto insisted on repeatedly trying to write to it, without any message as to what the problem was, until it finally quit, without leaving any message as to why.
Changing the permission on this second HD from Read Only to Read/Write, fixed the problem.

  • Security update Flash version for Mac OSX 10.5.8 won't install

I lost my ability to view Ustream live streaming and recorded videos on Sept. 12, 2013, in both Safari and Firefox. The screen is solid black, and if I right click I get "Movie not loaded..." I read about the Sept.10 Security Update for Flash Player, so I uninstalled version fp_10.3.183.90 and attempted to install version fp_11.7.700.242. The installation failed every time, so I returned to the older one. On Sept. 13 I downloaded Google Chrome and it worked, but today, Sept. 14, I see the message "Flash is out of date," and no video.
I have a Macmini2,1 with 1 Intel Processor and 2 Cores, made in 2007, I think. OS Leopard, 10.5.8 (64-bit). My Safari is version 5.0.6, Firefox 9.0.1 and Chrome 21.0.1180.90.
I spend a lot of time on Ustream, so this is a big setback... please help!

Firefox is on version 23.1 now (I believe it WILL run on Leopard), and Chrome is on 29 (I can't be sure of that because I've uninstalled it from EVERY LAST machine I own and will NEVER use it again).
THAT may have something to do with it. Safari 5 is the newest that will run on 10.5, and unfortunately the LATEST Flash Player WON'T run on Leopard.
The reason is that OS 10.5 was the LAST Universal Binary OS Mac released (it runs on Intel or Power PC Macs) Becaue of that, it uses a different acrhitecture and the Flash Player is different from an "Intel only" build. Websites will continue to update, requiring the latest Player, and that will lead to obsolescence of your Flash Player (and your OS). THAT'S the bad news.
The GOOD news is: Because your Mac is Intel powered, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.8) for $20 through Apple (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard), and THAT will allow you to run a LOAD of software that requires 10.6 or newer.

  • Cannot access itunes store, requiring me to install itunes 10, but I have a mac osx 10.4.11 and cannot install... now what?

I would like to purchase songs (you know spend $$$$) ... has apple completely cut off an entire group of mac users????

iTunes 9 will work with the store and your OS. You can download it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1056

  • Bought Mac OSX Snow Leopard, half way through install it spits the disk out and does nothing. Any advice?

It's a iMac version 10.5.8. Would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Are you able to boot the computer to your Leopard system? If so then first:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Clean the Snow Leopard DVD with alcohol and a lint-free cloth from center to rim to be sure there are no finger prints, scratches, or dirt. They try again.

  • Mac OSX 10.9.4 Can't install flash player - won't download in installer window

Whenever I run the Adobe flash installer, it freezes at 30 percent and says that the connection has been lost. It then states Connection failed. Unable to complete installation after about 2 minutes.

  • MPEG2 codec not working in Final Cut Pro on Mac OSX Tiger

We have been using the File-export-Quicktime Conversion-MPEG2 codec for exporting of files from Final Cut Pro to DVD Studio Pro. On the new mac system that was just bought, the option does not show up.
Currently the system is running Quicktime Pro 7.1.2/ FCP 5 and DVD Studio Pro 4 and it is a new mac system running Mac OSX Tiger.
This problem has happened before on a mac running on an older system, but that was solved by reinstalling FCP and then DVD Studio pro and making sure that the QT Pro was of the latest version.
Right now, we have reinstalled everything the same way, tried installing DVD Studio Pro after, we have also done a full software update of the software over the net.
The codec is still not working, all the macs in the office are supposed to be upgraded to Mac osx tiger, but right now we can't do so, cos then we wouldn't be able to burn any DVDs.
    Please help, thanks.

The installation of QT 7 is the culprit behind the missing MPEG-2 Export Component. But during upgrades, it doesn't always get rid of the file ... probably what happened on your older system when you upgraded to QT 7 or Tiger. Either the new system came with QT 7 preinstalled, therefore not including the Export Component, or if it was upgraded, the upgrade missed it.

  • Need Mac OSX 10.7 Build server

We bought some new Mac Minis and on one of them I need to have Mac OSX 10.7 running so I installed VMWare Fusion
However, when I go to install the O/S on the VM Image, I can't find a Mac OSX 10.7 (Lion) Installation Disk Image to boot the image to begin the install process.
I can find Update Images but they don't boot the image.  I need a .dmg file that will start the install process of Mac OSX 10.7 and Apple isn't allowing me to download an Image (.dmg) file.  It just keeps trying to run the install and that doesn't work because the install process is trying to run on the Mac OSX 10.8 machine NOT the VM Image that I'm trying to spin up.
Where can I find a Lion Install Disk Image?

OK - thanks.  I understand what I will have to do but I'm not happy about it.
I have 100's of machines that I support and the Macs are always the most troublesome because Apple doesn't understand how IT professionals need to operate.  I can't telnet to the Mac to get this to work, I literally have to get on the console on a machine that's across the country to download an image file (using safari) which then I have to copy that image file to a netshare in order to get back to the machine I was working on.  I then have to run a second Update on the O/S to get 10.7.5.  Instead of simply supplying an image file of the latest O/S, I need to waste a day jumping through hoops doing things "The Apple Way".
I appreciate your attention to this.

  • How do I fix? Flash videos like YouTube won't play sound on MAC OSX 10.5.8

Sound won't play on YouTube and other flash web based videos on my MAC OSX 10.5.8 So I installed the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player and it still doesn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash player. Nada. I updated my computer software and firmware. Still nothing. I checked my sound and apple movie trailers play just fine.  Please assist.
    Thanks so much!!!!
Oh, I have tried to play videos in both Safari and Firefox. No sound in both.

Yay!!!! My business partner @goodbadtech (on twitter) fixed it.  Apple repair fixed it. Just got it back this morning. Then I updated Adobe flash as Mozilla asked me to do and the sounds disappeared again! Was so frustrated.  But Spencer found this link and that saved the day :-)
