Hp1200 laser printer installing new cartridge

When installing a new prnter cartridge, there is a silver ribbon with a small plastic tag hanging off the left side. When I followed the install instructions, my printer printed only the right side of the page. Was I supposed to do something special with this ribbon? Why is my printer only printing one side of the page?

Hello piabooboo,
I understand your concerns. Unfortunately, for this type of printer, I need to direct you to our Enterprise Business Community Forums. This will be the right section to troubleshoot this issue.

I installed new cartridges...installed and re installed them several times...ran all the scan doctors sw, re installed sw, aligned cartridges, cleaned heads....but my documents print blank pages.  HP support center says ink cartridges check out fine....so whats' up?

    Hello @skses5,
I am happy to hear that you were able to resolve your print quality issue. Because you had to install brand new cartridges to resolve this issue, if they are HP Genuine cartridges, check the expiration date on the cartridges to ensure that they are still under warranty. HP will stand behind those cartridges and replace them for you for new cartridges so your money will not be wasted.
HP Technical Support can be reached at : 800-474-6836.

Be prepared to inform the Technical Support agent of all the troubleshooting steps you have went through and the result of those steps for their notes. If you are able to tell them the steps you went through and the result you should not have to repeat any troubleshooting steps.
    Best of luck!

  • Installing new cartridge

I have installed a new tri-colour cartridge (original HP product) and it works fine. However, having printed the alignment sheet I tried to scan it as instructed but was told that the alignment sheet could not be detected. However, as the printer is working OK with the new cartridge I thought it didn't matter. However from time to time and without warning the printer turns out another alignment sheet which still cannot be detected. I just tried to copy something and yet another alignment sheet arrived. I turned the printer off and on again and managed to copy the item I needed, but it all took much longer than it should apart from wasting ink on all these alignment sheets. It seems to me that the machine keeps detecting a new cartridge each time and launches into the routine that creates. However why cannot the alignment sheet be detected? Can I resolve this? I have installed new cartridges many times without this problem arising.

    Hi
Try doing a reset on the printer, as per solution three here
    Does that help?

  • Office Pro 8000: Can't Print/Out of Ink Error even after installing new cartridge.

When I tried to use my printer a few days ago, I received a "Can't Print: Out of Ink" error message concerning the magenta cartridge.  I had used the printer a few days before that, and had not received a low ink warning.  It seemed suspicious to me that I would have received an empty cartridge error message without first receiving a low cartridge warning.  The yellow and cyan cartridges read 70% full - all 3 were original cartridges.
I purchased a new 940XL magenta cartridge and installed it per instructions.  Now I am getting a message that the new 940XL cartridge is empty.  I can shake the old 940 cartridge and hear liquid inside.  Obviously, the new cartridge is also full.  I've tried cycling power, reinstalling the software, etc, with no change in status.  If I swap back and forth between the old 940 and new 940XL cartridge, they are properly identified by type on my screen as the 940 or 940XL.  Due to the way the problem has presented itself, I don't believe it is a cartridge issue.
Of course, problem first arouse on May 8th, and my warrantee expired April 26th.  Any suggestions?

I've solved my own problem, which was clearly a factory assembly defect.  I looked inside my printer with a flashlight in the area where the ink cartridges are installed, and found magenta ink sprayed inside the printer.  I disassembled the printer, and found that the magenta line had been damaged during assembly.  There are four ink tubes which exit from behind the ink cartridges, then make a U turn back toward the front of the printer.  Just after the U turn, they make another bend up-wards.  It is at this point that I found the damaged magenta line, directly above a screw on the right-hand side of the ink cartridge housing.  The lines are in a very narrow passage, and are held in place by several keepers molded out of plastic.  It appears that the lines were put in place in the keepers, then the screw inserted from above.  As I said, it is a very tight passage, and it would be very easy to damage the ink line at that point if the lines weren't carefully held back to insert the screw during assembly.
To solve the problem, I removed approximately 1/4 inch of damaged magenta ink line.  I carefully cut the line with a sharp razor, to prevent collapsing the line or causing burrs to the tubing.  I then placed about 3/4" of self-sealing heat shrink tubing over one end of the ink line.  Next I spliced the line with a small piece of stiff plastic tubing from the handle of a cotton swab, which was a perfect, snug fit over the ink line.  Being careful not to collapse the ink tube or cause further damage, I gently twisted the ink line back and forth until the ends were butted up inside the cotton swab splice.  I then positioned the heat-shrink tubing over the splice, and shrunk it with a hair dryer.  The heat-shrink tubing I used has hot-melt glue applied to the inside, which further aided in making a leak-proof splice.  Again, there is not a lot of room, so the splice had to be kept small.
I reassembled the printer, reinstalled the ink cartridges, and powered up the printer.  After the normal, long start-up delay, I printed several full-color test sheets, and all was fine.  The magenta cartridge that I had installed previously now shows that it is full, and the remaining cartridges also read the levels that they had prior to disassembly.

  • NP Officejet H470 - willl not print after new cartridge installed

Changed my black cartridge and now will not print at all.  Document shows briefly in printer dialogue box but then disappears.  Printer makes a noise like it wants to print but then nothing happens.  Printed fine before cartridge change!  Any ideas?

I bought a new unit. First thing it would not work. Pause light and start light flashed. finally after much research on HP site and elsewhere I solved it myself!
I found a part loose in the unit! Open the ink door, see a 1/8" +/- diameter rod under the print carriage, look at the right end, there is a white part that should be down and probably should click into place. Mine was up at a 45 degree angle. It went down easily, but did not truly click into the receiving hole, however it was enough that the printer worked!
The left side was down, but yours may bear checking.
HP puts you through all the testing stuff, but fails to rememder that printers are electro-MECHANICAL devices and can fail on the mechanical side.

  • New cartridge of Black ink not printing and new cartridges of colored inks very light

Just installed all new cartridges and ran an alignment page.  The colors are very light and no black ink printed at all.  Before installing the new ink the printer would not actually print anything even though the status showed the document as "printing".  The color ink lights had been blinking so I changed all three of them, still could not get the printer to print anything. I unplugged the printer and my computer and after booting everything back up a Word document would only produce a blank page so I thought the black ink needed to be replaced as well.  After installing everything I ran the alignment page which shows very light colors and no black. What should I do next?  The cartidges are authentic HP 920 XL Black, 920 Cyan, 920 Magenta, and 920 Yellow bought in a Combo-pack from Staples.

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve black not printing on your Officejet 6000 printer.  Do the steps in order.  Before considering Solution 8 - Replace the Printhead you might try soaking the printhead as described in the post here.

  • Desket 21514 ink cartridge incompatible after installing new cartridge

I bought a new black hp 61 ink cartridge and replaced the old one. After doing so the ink indicator started to flash and a notification came up saying that bothe the colored and ink cartridges were incompatible. I know that the color cartridge is copatible becasue i have been using it for months and it is the same one thwe printer came with. I have tried taking out the black cartridge and replacing it with the old one but the same problem. I have tried cleaning the cartridges and the ports they go in but its the same thing.

    Hiya @jas123456,
Happy Friday! I see that since replacing your black cartridge your printer is rejecting both the black and the color cartridge. I would be happy to help you work towards a solution.
I wonder if, although you tried replacing the new cartridge with the older one, and cleaning the contacts, if the following document will help to resolve the error; HP Deskjet Printers - 'Incompatible Print Cartridge' or 'Print Cartridge Problem' Message Displays o....

  • PRINTER C7280, NEW CARTRIDGE BUT PRINTER DOES NOT RECOGNISE NEW LEVEL, LEVEL/GAUGE STAYS 0

I HAVE C7280 PRINTER ALL IN ONE, WITH 363 CARTRIDGES. THE COLOR 363 LIGHT CYAN HAS BEEN REPLACED, BUT LEVEL OF NEW CARTRIDGE STAYS 0. BOUGHT AGAIN A NEW ONE, BUT PROBLEMS STAYS. DID CLEANING OF THE HEADS AND ALIGN PRINTER, BUT PROBLEM STAYS. HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS?

    Hi
Are you using the control panel or solution centre to check the levels?
Are you still able to print?
    Thanks, Ciara
    Step one: Check ink levels
    NOTE:
The HP All-in-One can only detect the ink levels for genuine HP ink. The ink levels in ink cartridges that are refilled or have been used in other devices might not register accurately.Ink from the cartridges is used in the printing process in a number of different ways, including in the initialization process, which prepares the device and cartridges for printing, and in printhead servicing, which keeps print nozzles clear and ink flowing smoothly. In addition, some residual ink is left in the cartridge after it is used.
To check the ink levels from the control panel:
    Press Setup .
Press the down arrow ( ) to highlight Tools, and then press OK.
Press the down arrow ( ) to highlight Display Ink Gauge, and then press OK.
Press any button to return to the Tools menu.
To check the ink levels from the HP Photosmart Software:
In the HP Solution Center, click Settings , point to Print Settings, and then click Printer Toolbox .
    NOTE:
You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Services tab, and then click Service this device .
Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. The estimated ink levels for the ink cartridges will appear.

  • Brand New HP Officejet 4632 printer with new cartridges. Black ink showing empty

I just bought a brand new HP Officejet 4632 printer and as soon as I put in the ink cartridges that came with the printer it said printing in single cartridge mode and the black ink shows empty. I haven't even used the printer yet and it already shows empty. What do I do?

    Hello bobboman11,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the ink cartridges in your new printer.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Take the ink out of the printer and with a lint free cloth and some bottled water, lightly dampen the cloth and clean the metal contacts on the cartridges and the contacts on the carriage.  Make sure every thing is dry and make sure that the protective cover is completely off of the ink.  Insert the ink in to the printer and attempt a test print.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • Re: hp 5510 won't print black before and after installing new cartridge. have done specified checks

I've followed all of the instructions and still no luck...what's worse is that I can't seem able to PM you for help.  Please get back in touch with me as I would like some sort of remedy.

    Hello Redwing1991,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues on your HP Photosmart 5510, you are unable to print in black ink.
I see you have tried ALL steps listed here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, with no success.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. Please let me know which Country/Region you are in as well as the product Warranty status: HP Warranty Checker
I hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanks,
