Hp2009m monitor settings 1600 x 900 in xp pro -reloaded windows- can't set 1600x900

Dell Inspiron 537MT XP Pro. Reinstalled Windows on new hard drive. Windows doesn't provide a 1600X900 selection for that display. Installing CD that came with the monitor indicates that driver is already installed. The image on the screen is not anything like it was with the old HD.
Any ideas?

Can I use split screens on an extra monitor I have? I can get a mirror image on both screens, but not a split screen. The monitor is 1600 x 900 AOC 20inch monitor. Hope I haven't wasted my money buying this £69 monitor. My 13" Macbook Pro is a little small for my ageing eyes. Thanks

In the display settings on your computer uncheck "mirrored". This will put the displays in "extended" mode. In extended mode you can set the external display to its native resolution as well as drag windows from your computer to the external monitor. I assume that is what you mean when you say "split screen".

  • T530 1368 x 768 vs 1600 x 900

    On the T530 1368 x 768  vs 1600 x 900 screens.
    1. Is the contrast ratio much better on the 1600 x 900 screen ?
    2. I know font size can be adjusted in windows settings but in without changing these settings
how much smaller do things look on the 1600 x 900 screens ?   What percentage do I have to set
the chrome browser's zoom setting to, to simulate the reduction.
I wear glasses, although Im ok with smaller fonts, I dont like to strain.
How much multitasking advantage is there with the 1600 x 900 resolution.
Thanks in advance for you help

1600x900 on my T430 (14" screen) is 133dpi, while 1366x768 is about 113dpi. Normal desktop monitors (AFAIK) are usually 72 to 90 dpi.
The text size on 1600x900 is about 85% of 1366x768. In Microsoft Word, 135% on 1600x900 is about the real size of a document. Of course, on 15" things would be a little bit different.
It is impossible to simulate the view on a screen with a different density, so it would be the best if you can get to a store and see how the real machine looks.
For me, I chose 1600x900 simply because it is higher in resolution, as I am a programmer it will be better if I can see more code at a time with a higher vertical resolution, and sometimes I need to compare things side-by-side that a higher horizontal resolution can just help.

Help please. Extended display won't work on MBP and AOC 20" 1600 x 900  60HZ monitor. Mirror display does. I've a mini dvd to vga converter cable. Should this work?

I have the same mini display port adapter and Belkin DVI-HDMI cable (but a Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV) so just set this up on it to see if I could duplicate your problem, unfortunately for you (but good for me) I can't.
I connected the adapter+HDMI cable before switching the HDTV on and then powered up the MBP. It (the HDTV) came up with my background right away (it's set at Mirror not extended Desktop) and when I run System Preferences/Displays get the following. Sorry but all I can confirm is that adapter+cable combination should work ...
Try doing a Parameter RAM reset - hold down command/option/p/r keys at start up and wait for three chimes before releasing the keys?

  • Satellite M110 - question on Screen resolution 1600 x 900

Hi experts, hoping you can help me out.
Just bought an external screen which needs 1600 x 900 screen resolution,.... trouble is my display settings don't have that option.
If I "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" I can only choose 800x600 or 1024x768
If I uncheck this box "hide...display", the nearest I can choose are 1280x1024 or 1600x1200
Where is the 1600 x 900 option??? everything on the external screen is sttrreettched out.....
    I have
    - Satellite M110 PSMB0A
    - Windows XP
    - Display adapter says "Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family"
    - I've downloaded the latest driver, (at least I think I did!) and my driver version is 6.14.10.4543 dated 23/03/06
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi
There are two reasons why a favorite resolution is not available.
    1) the graphic card driver does not support such resolution
    2) or/and the graphic card doesnt support it too.
In the user manual of Satellite M110 you should find a info (somewhere at the end of user manual) what resolutions are supported and available.
If the graphic card would support such resolution then this would mean that your installed driver is the reason why you cannot choose this resolution.
In such case its advisable to update the driver and to use the one from the Intel page.
The graphic chip is Intel one and therefore the driver from Intel page should work.
In some cases you would be not able to install the driver executing the setup.exe.
In such case you have to go to the device manger and have to use the advanced installation procedure. Then you could point to the driver package which you have downloaded previously from Intel page.

  • Black bars with 1600 x 900

Hello im trying to make a counterstrike source movie and im recording my footage in 1600 x 900 and 16:9 so i finally figured out how to setup
a CUSTOM sequence and get my resolution in there as 1600 x 900 and 16:9 but the issue i am having is the black bars once i export. ive researched on these forums about this issue and some people say to scale it?? not quite sure what that means but im using the sequence settings desktop with 1600 x 900 and 16:9 when i export i also select use sequence settings. any help would be appreciated. thanks

to answer your question im using counterstrike source video game and the start movie command in 1600 x 900 and 16:9 resolution. ive also tried virtual dub and i can get it to where it has no bars on virtual dub but not adobe. hopefully this is all the settings you asked for. maybe it has to do with me not knowing what settings to use?? but this is as close as ive gotten
using the i frame only mpeg for the codec(only one i could do a custom res on i think)
    width and hieght 1600 x 900
pixel aspect ratio d1/dv  ntsc widescreen 16:9(unsure of what to use closest i could find)
here are the properties of the video i made with no bars that im trying to edit in premier
    Type: AVI Movie
    File Size: 8.7 MB
    Image Size: 1600 x 900
    Pixel Depth: 0
    Frame Rate: 60.00
    Total Duration: 00:00:07:08
Average Data Rate: 1.2 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
basically this gives me a video with no bars on top which is great. but it has bars on the side which is not so great.

  • Thinkpad T430 Display: HD (1366 x 768) vs. HD+ (1600 x 900) Specifics

Hello, and thank you in advance for any help.  As I've researched the Lenovo ThinkPad T430, and it's various configuration options, I've found specific information on the differences between the HD (1366 x 768) display and the HD+ (1600 x 900) display to be rather lacking.  Everything I've read boils down to "go with the HD+ if possible" but I was hoping for more information.  I'd be using the laptop for reading documents and web pages, as well as viewing movies, so I was wondering if more knowledgeable people than I would pipe in with their opinions, especially when it comes to watching movies on the laptop (in a dark room with the laptop at the foot of the bed and using headphones).  Thanks again for your time; I really appreciate it.

    Hi,
I bought my t530i with the HD (1366x768) display. I am absolutely disappointed in it. The viewing angle is horrible, the colors are whitey, pallid, the black color is not black, it is rather dark gray, because the backlight is so strong. I would like to sell it, because it is useless for me, but nobody wants it. I don't know if this applies to the 430 series, so I suggest You to check it out personally, before You buy it.

  • T530 resolution, 1900x1080 vs 1600 x 900

hello all! i was looking at the 2  models given for the T530 2012 edition. i saw that the cheaper one had an hd 1900x1080 resolution while the other had a HD+ 1600x900 resolution. my question is, which screen is better? what does hd + mean? and why would they, if they did, give the better screen to the lower priced laptop

FHD means 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, HD+ 1600 x 900, while HD 1366 x 768. The FHD is the best in terms of contrast, colour reproduction and viewing angle.

  • Cannot select a 1600 x 900 resolution

I am using Win 7 Home Edition 64 bit on an mid 2011 iMac via BootCamp; the problem is that i cannot select the 1600x900 screen resolution, as it is not available as an option at the Control Panel menu. I have reinstalled the windows support software, installed drivers directly from the ATI's site (both for desktop and notebook use) but the above resolution is not available. When i boot into Mac OS X, the 1600 x 900 resolution is available and is the one selected. Any suggestion is welcomed.

I suggest re-asking/reposting this in the Bootcamp forum. It is a Windows issue, not a Lion issue.

  • 6550b replacement screen 1600 x 900 not working.

I have a HP6550b and the original screen has broken.
The original screen had a resolution of 1366 x 768.
I read from the specifications that this laptop can also support a resolution of 1600 x 900.
However, if I try a new screen with the 1600 x 900 resolution it will not work properley.
I get compacted vertical lines, blurred text and the colour is predominantly pink....
Does anyone know why this is happening..??
I do not see any special video cables for this higher resolution, the specs say that the laptop can work at this resolution and I have also tried different 1600 x 900 screens in different 6550b laptops all with the same result.
Appreciate any help with this one.
    thanks.

  • Where are monitor settings stored beside krandrrc

    Hi.
I would like to ask for help. Recently i've found interesting issue regarding KDE monitor system settings. KDE system settings make one config file in ~/.kde4/share/config named krandrrc. When we use KDE monitor system settings, configurations are stored in file krandrrc (information like resolution, refresh rate, orientation when there are 2 LCD displays connected and so on are stored here).
I have dual monitor setup. I found this issue because of what i do by an mistake. I chosed to disable my second screen, hit save - i wanted to disable it. Than by mistake i disabled my first, primary screen and this choos was saved right on the spot (i though that when i won't acept settings, they will be restored, just like in Windows, but there were not). So, in fact, i ended with second screen disabled and my first screen disabled, so after each boot, i log in and than, my picture/screen goes off and my lcd monitor shuts itself off.
I tried to delete krandrrc file in ~/.kde4/share/config but it did not make a change. Is there a different config file for monitor settings in KDE? How i could restore it back? Is there a way? I restored it by a chance (i just logged in, hit alt+f2, tried to type "terminal", and than type xrandr --auto but this metod is a metod that needs luck because we can't see anything with disabled screen). I deleted also xorg.conf but in Arch, in fact, it is not needed because udev.  I tried to log into tty by hitting alt+f1, but in terminal typing xrandr --auto won't make difference, it says that it can't start X window session so it works only in gui.
Could somebody help? Maybe you have a fix for it?
    Thanks.

    Hi firekage,
I came across your post while trying to fix a similar issue on my laptop.  I don't have a krandrrc file.  However, I found that if I deleted the files in my ~/.kde4/share/apps/kscreen directory I was able to "start over" and configure my displays again.
    Hope that helps you out.

  • Monitor settings incorrect and can't get to system prefs to change them

    Hi,
I was experimenting with screen resolution settings and somehow came up with one that doesn't allow me to get to any finder controls or to the apple icon. So I can't use my computer.
    Help!

Thanks BD. And thanks for the welcome.
I couldn't get it to start in safe mode no matter when I depressed and released the shift key. I realized that the computer is behaving as if it has 2 monitors, which is what it had when I made the mess. I tried detect displays to no avail. BUT I logged out and signed in as another user and no problem! Thus, the monitor settings must somehow be a function of a users prefs. The upshot is that I can now use the computer albeit as a different user. A potential problem may be that the original (screwed up monitor) user is the administrator. My problem is no longer so critical, though and I really appreciate the help.

  • Monitor settings lost when switching user accounts.

Hi! I just recently noticed that every time i switch user accounts, my monitor settings get corrupted.
There are 2 user accounts in my ibook. One account is used for work while the other one is used for home purposes. The work account has a specific monitor setting which is calibrated to our workstations. The other account has default settings on it.
My question is that when I switch users, the settings for my work account gets corrupted. I also can't change the settings without having to restart the book.
I already repaired permissions and zapped the pram. The same thing still happens.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Chuck!
I've had this problem too. Like you, I managed to navigate to do a restart, but nothing else would make the mouse cursor reappear.
Bruce, I wasn't using Biggy, PinPoint or any of the other mouse visibility things, simply the magnification provided by System Preferences.
I put it down to a fault on 10.4.4—a very buggy release— and haven't yet been able to reproduce it on 10.4.5.
I suggest you send a fault report to Apple ([email protected]), explaining all the circumstances. Try always undoing the cursor zoom before switching users (yes, that's a pain too!!!). And if I manage to reproduce the problem, I promise I'll send in a fault report too!
