Hp2605dn slow to print

I have been using a laserjet 2600 for several years and found it to be a terrific printer. I was recently given a "barely used" (less thab 9000 pages printed) 2605dn.
I connected it to my network and all was well untill itried to use it in real life. It took 3-5 minutes before it would print. I ran driver updates but still same problem. I then noticed it had an option for 128MB of memory my 2600 didn't have, so I purchased and installed that. Still the same. I checked firmware and it was from 2006, so I upgraded that but the problem still exists.
I would have thought a later model would show improvement, but alas no. The print quality is excellent, but it is too slow to use.
Any suiggestions?

I have an HP xw4600 workstation connected toan Arris  TG852wireless/cable/router/modem by network cable. A network cable from this connects to my LaserJet 2605dn.
I had a Laserjet 2600 connected  via the same system and it was fine...printing would start within 30 seconds...it it only since I replaced the 2600 with the 2605dn that the trouble started.
I have purchased and installed memory, (which shows as being recognised on the config report) I have updated all firmware and drivers, and switched from PCL printing to PS when I removed and re-installed the printer.
That's about the extent of my knowledge which is why I called for help.
Thanks for the reply.  Any further help appreciated.

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro L7700 Series printer that is extremely slow at printing, and causing the print spooler service to pause or freeze for several minutes.
    - All the clients are running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
    - I have tested printing via an ethernet cable as well as wirelessly
    - I Have installed the latest driver from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=ca&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=2512...
Here's exactly what I am experiencing:
When I click print test page the properties window of the printer freezes for 30 seconds to one minute. If I move the window around it says its not responding. Approximately 1 to 15 minutes later I receive a message that the print job has been successfully sent to the printer, and then the printer prints the page.
I have attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the software and driver as well.
    Any thoughts/suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated.

    Hi @VexedHPUser
    Perhaps the Microsoft Fix it utility will help;
    What it fixes
You are unable to install a printer, connect to a printer, or print more than one job at a time
You receive an error indicating your Print Spooler service is experiencing problems
You receive an error indicating your is not the default printer
You receive an error indicating: cannot be contacted over the network
Identify if your printer is turned off
Identify if your printer toner is low or empty causing your print job to appear faint or it does not print at all
Identify if your printer paper is low or empty
Identify if the printer has a paper jam which is preventing it from operating normally
Identify if a print job that is in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing
Identify if you need to update your print driver
You receive an error stating that your Plug and Play printer %PRINTERNAME% has encountered a driver problem
If the issue persists, I think it might be a good idea to reach out to the Microsoft Community.

  • My 8620 HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer IS INCREDIBLY SLOW TO PRINT - TRIED EVERYTHING

I have an 8620 HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer It is connected via wireless set-up, with excellent signal strength. It is incredibly slow to print anything, especially PDF files that have graphics in them. I have the latest software installed, latest firmware updates. I have even uninstalled and re-installed, the issue is still there. This is an incredibly crap product, so I'd like to get this issue solved ASAP. Thanks,Brian

For example: printing http://www.nytimes.com/images/2015/07/04/nytfrontpage/scan.pdf Quickly goes 7.03mb/of 7.03mb... then just swirls the "printing" status on the printer's LCD screen, and takes 5 minutes to print...

  • Very slow wireles printing MG7500

Hello, Two days ago purchased the MG7520 printer.  Set it up today and it connected to my wireless (Dish network, satellite).  Printing a regular Pages document is pretty slow, but printing a photo is nearly impossible - so very slow it would take 30 minutes to print a 5 X 7. I printed a Network Configuration Page, the signal strength is 100%.  I'm running OSX Yosemite on my MacBook Air that is connected to the printer. Not sure what to do next - any suggestions?  Thanks to everyone here in advance :-).

Hey, thanks for your help!  I tried re-connecting the printer to wireless and moved it somewhat closer too with an unobstructed view.  It still printed slow but faster than before, so I think it is definitely the wireless connection.  But, just to make sure will pick up an ethernet cable this week and try that. Will also try the USB when I have time later in the week.  I have to say that the photo I printed today is exactly the color of the subject so I am VERY pleased with the color printing capability of this printer.  And, also very pleased that everything is working fine on the printer regarding both document and photo printing. Thanks again!

  • Extemely slow 7610 printing with pauses

We recently purchased a HP 7610 printer to take advantage of the wireless and wide-format capabilities.   Both of our PC's are running Windows 8.1.  We purchased and installed the two-sided add-on for duplex printing.  We do not need/want the ePrint capabilities/web services.  Web Direct is off.   Our local network traffic is very light - no games or movies.
The 7610 is connected via our wireless router, and is extremely slow when printing.  It takes at least one minute to begin actually printing although the display inidicates it is printing so it is doing something. Once it begins to print, it prints all pages but pauses for 15-30 seconds after printing about 2/3 of the last page.  It finally flushes the buffer or whatever it is doing before it finishes printing and ejects the last page.  This happens when printing from any local application or from the web.  Our old reliable 7310 (hardwired to the router) prints smoothly and quickly.
We installed the driver from the CD shipped with the printer, and have also de-installed and then re-installed using the driver downloaded from the HP website so we believe the driver is current.
How can we eliminate the delay when it begins to print and eliminate the pause when it's almost finished?  Do we need to forget about the wireless connection and run a cable to the 7610?

  • Photosmart D5160 very slow to print

My printer takes forever to print, either from internet or Word doc. Sometimes the computer 'drops' the print request several times before printing as well. I've reinstalled the drivers but nothing has changed. Any suggestions about what I should do next much appreciated.

  • Very slow in printing

I connect to the printer through wireless.  Printing a word document from laptop takes very long time. I noticed that only if I start the HP 2545 Series application and  click on the what's printing and select the print document, then only it proceeds with printing. Even then it is slow in printing. Scanning is faster with same wireless connection. I suspect there is no driver available for 2545 and I am using HP Deskject 2540 driver only (Ver 32.2) downloaded from internet. Please create a driver for 2545 model or provide me a solution

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I understand you're finding your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545 All-in-One Printer's performance to be slow when printing from Word.  I would like to assist you with this. Is the slow printing you're encountering limited to just printing from Word or is it happening when printing from other programs?  You do have the latest printer driver, but have you updated your printer's firmware?  I recommend you click here to complete a firmware install. For best results, complete the firmware install via usb connection.   Note that when it comes to the speed in which it takes a printer to print, there are more factors than just the printer's driver contributing.  I also suggest you run the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows using the same link above to install it.  This utility is designed to automatically detect and correct common printer setup issues, up to and including print queue and print spooler problems (Windows related). If these basic steps don't improve the printer's performance, my colleague  has posted a work-around in another thread that might help.  You could try the alternate print driver she suggests and see if this yields any change in your printer's speed.  Click here and follow Step 1 Clear Temp Folder and Step 2 Add Alternate driver as directed, substituting the different model mentioned therein with your printer's model name.   Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution. Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!

  • Forms / Reports 6i - slow starting printing & FRM-41211 Integration error

We are having a problem with Forms / Reports 6i that seems to be slowly getting worse.
When beginning printing, the CPU usage goes up to 100%. In task manager I can see IFRUN60.EXE or RWRBE60.EXE, or IFBLD60.EXE or RWBLD60.EXE taking up 70% or so of the CPU time with the rest being taken up by the SPOOLSV.EXE spooler service.
    This can be observed when
    * Starting the Reports background generator from the Forms runtime
    * Printing from a "print form" function inside the Forms runtime
    * Starting Reports builder
    * Printing from Reports Builder
    * Printing from Forms Builder
The big problem is launching Reports from the Forms runtime. If this CPU / Spooler wheel spinning takes more than 30 seconds or so (and it can on slower machines), Forms thinks that it has failed to launch Reports and gives the error "FRM-41211 Integration error: SSL failure running another product" Eventually the reports background generator will finish launching.
This happens on NT 4, 2000, XP, and 2003 server. I have tried this in a "clean" configuration where nothing else (no extra services or anything) is running at all and this still happens. We are currently running Forms & Reports Patchset 17.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this? Thanks.

    More info:
This is one of the lines that is calling the report:
    RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS, 'ORDER_PRINT.RDF', SYNCHRONOUS, BATCH, FILESYSTEM,ORDER_ID,'');
    Here is another one:
    RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS
    ,'OE_AUTO_QUOTE'
    ,SYNCHRONOUS
    ,RUNTIME
    ,FILESYSTEM
    ,ORDER_ID
We have a client/server setup. We are running 6i forms and reports, with a 9 database.
There have been no changes to these forms or reports. And it doesn't happen all the time. It just happens every-so-often.
EDIT - I guess it has been doing this for the past 3 weeks. One user says it happens everytime she tries to print anything from a form......
I've searched the forum about this and there are a lot of unanswered questions. I'm thinking my chances are slim on figuring this out.
2nd EDIT - I looked at the documentation at
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=164945.1
everything seems to be right - according to that. So I'm wondering if this has anything to do with any sort of networking issues.....
    .....3rd EDIT........
Still searching. It looks like this person has the same problem. http://www.webservertalk.com/archive149-2005-11-1283220.html

  • Officejet 6700 very slow to print does not scan to Imac

I just purchased a new officejet 6700 from Costco it takes  at least 10 min to print if at all and does not scan to Imac the current osx is snow leopard 10.6.8 using an airport time machine as a my wireless router / backup I have charter internet with ARRIS modem model # TM502G its also very slow to run any functions in the hp utility I did notice that the home network ip and printer ip are different don't know if that is an issue or not any help would be appreciated thanx.

    Hello kennethburland,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your concerns with your Officejet 6700 Premium.
What program are you printing from? Do you notice this issue occur from using multiple program(s)?
Please follow this entire HP document on Slow Printing. Make sure you choose your correct operating system.
You did indicate that your printer's IP address and your home network are different. The first three numbers of the IP address should be the same, but the last number(s) should be different. Please reference this HP document on Wireless Basic.
Are you receiving any error message indicating why you are unable to scan a document to your computer?
If you are receiving a "Connection Error", then please follow this HP document here. If the scanning software isn't responding, then follow this HP document here.
Please inform me your troubleshooting steps.

  • Extremely slow wireless printing with HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m

I'm seeing extremely slow print speeds when printing wirelessly from a Mac or a Windows XP system to a new HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer. The printer begins printing immediately when I request a print, but it only prints one line. It will then take about 15 minutes to print the rest of the page, printing each line after a very long pause. Demo page printing doesn't exhibit this problem, only documents from programs like Word 2008, Safari and Firefox (tried firefox on PC and Mac) are affected.
If I connect to the printer through a USB connection it prints fine, so this problem appears to be with wireless printing only.
    Printer: HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m
Computer: Mac mini (Late 2009 model) (also tried a Windows XP laptop as a comparison, using latest drivers from HP's website)
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.2 with all available updates installed
Computer connection method: Wired Ethernet connection to wireless router
Printer drivers: version 2.2.1 (Apple supplied, HP drivers never installed as system shipped with 10.6)
Wireless router: Apple TimeCapsule (Early 2009) 1TB, running in a/n and b/g modes on 2.4 and 5GHz. TimeCapsule is in bridging mode as the DSL modem handles DHCP service
Encryption: WPA2 Personal, no MAC filtering or hiding of the SSID.
IP addressing scheme: All addresses are handed out by DHCP server with no reservations of any kind
The TimeCapsule is sitting three inches from the printer and the printer indicates full signal. Connection of the printer to the wireless network and setup of the printer on the Mac went without a hitch. Only when printing a test document did we discover the problem. The wireless network is behaving as expected when accessing the Internet from both Mac and Windows devices (tested with a Dell laptop running XP and a MacBook running OS X 10.6.2), so I don't see any overall problems with the wireless network.
    Attempted remedies:
    1. Rebooting and powering off, waiting, powering on computer
    2. Resetting the print subsystem, turning the printer off and on again and reinstalling the printer
    3. Unplugging power from the printer and letting it sit for several minutes before trying to print wirelessly.
    None of these worked.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the DSL modem HW.  There might be an issue with how print data is being routed though.
Please try the second experiment where you blank-out the default gateway and DNS entries from the printer's internal web configuration page.  Open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address.  Select Networking and then Wireless (802.11).  Under the IPv4 Configuration tab, select Manual IP:
For Manual IP Address, use the existing printer IP address.
For Manual Subnet Mask, use 255.255.255.0
For Manual Default Gateway, leave blank.  This is important.
    Select Manual DNS Server:
Leave both the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields empty.  This is important.
    Press Apply.
Turn off the DSL modem, the printer and all computers connected to your network.  Wait 60 seconds then turn on the DSL modem and then turn on the printer.  Then turn on the computers.  See if this corrects the printing speed.

  • Slow pdf printing in Acrobat 9.2 on OS 10.5.8

When I try to print out a pdf that I have opened in Acrobat 9.2, the printing process takes hours, regardless of the printer that I'm using. If I use Mac Preview with the same document, however, the document prints out in under a minute. I am not the only one in this office to have this problem. Any help will be much appreciated, since this problem is slowing things down tremendously.

For me that didn't solve the problem. Printing with Preview works just fine, printing with Acrobat Pro 9.2 takes forever... I have no idea how to solve this issue...
Have you checked to see if there is a Print Driver Update for your printer for OSX.6. Anslo make sure your up to latest X.6 version I belive its 6.2 now (may be 6.1)

Extremely slow printing of PDF documents on networked HP 5000 DN. Printing about a page a minute. Files have been reduced in size using Acrobat.
    No recent software changes.
Printer is networked using HP Jet Direct print server.
Printing in other pplications is just fine.
Acrobat 7.0 Professional with all updates is installed.
All current OS X updates are installed.
OS X Disk Utility has been run and and all permissions have been checked and repaired.

It really depends on the complexity of the document as well as on the amount of memory the printer has installed. My guess is that the printer doesn't have much memory.

  • OS X prepared pdf files slow to print on Windows

I have a file I prepared in OS X using the pdf popup in the default print dialog (i.e. not via an Acrobat driver).  The file prints fine from my computer, but takes forever via Acrobat on a windows machine.  A sample is attached.  Page 1 will print fine, but pages 2 and 3 are slow.  I know they are more graphically complex, but why they would take so long is a mystery.  Can you tell why?  and is there something that I could do differently to make it better?

On windows machine try running through Optimizer and cehck for embeded fonts.
Al lot of times You think you you are using certain fonts , but then when you look you have 8-10 or more identical copies of the same font.
remove all copies of the same exact font style.
    example:
    courier bold itallic
    courier bold itallic
    courier bold itallic
    courier bold itallic
    courier bold itallic
    Courier Bold
    Courier Bold
    Courier Bold
    Courier Bold
    remove all except
    courier bold itallic
    courier bold
By doing so free up tons of space.
Also for some reason Graphics created on Mac and then opened on a Pc almost alwaqys ballon to 5-10 times the size they would be on PC. so you might end up with a 500K file on a Mac and the same file on a PC might end up being 50mb  . But the same file if created on Pc and goes to MaC would not change or actually shrink a littel its the way graphics are handled on the different platform.
If quality is no an issue then you can reduce the dpi of the graphics  say fro 600 dpi to 300 or 1200 to 600 and that will reduce the size as well
