HP3520 AirPrint to MacBook Air

My Macbook Air is on OS X  10.9.2  will it print wirelessly with the HP3520? I have tried to connect the printer to my wireless network but it will not connect. HP support couldn't help me to get it going.

Hi VivienneKeohane,
I can definitely help you get the Deskjet 3520 on your network and working wirelessly with your Mac 10.9.2.  Please use the instructions below to accomplish this task;
On the front screen of the printer, touch the arrow down and locate Settings. Press OK and look for the Wireless Menu. Once you have found the Wireless menu press OK. Look for Wireless Direct, Press OK. Select Wireless Direct On (no security).
On the computer, go to the AirPort/Wifi symbol, click on the Deskjet network. It will be some variation of the printer name.
Now the printer and the Mac are on the same network (no, not yours, bear with me )
Open Safari, keep in mind the computer is on the printers network therefore it has no Internet.
In the Safari address/URL bar, enter 192.168.223.1 this will open the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS)
In the EWS, click on the Network tab
Click on Wireless Setup Wizard along the left hand side to begin configuring the printer.
The blue wireless light on the printer will go solid(might take a few minutes), put the Mac back on your own network.
Add the printer to the System Preferences.
Print!!
On the front screen of the printer, touch the arrow down and locate Settings. Press OK and look for the Wireless Menu. Once you have found the Wireless menu press OK. Look for Wireless Direct, Press OK. Select Wireless Direct Off. If you leave this on, other people could access your printer and print to it simply by putting their computer on your printers network.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue. If you would like or require additional assistance, I am happy to help!!

  • How to install Canon MG3170 printer to Macbook Air (mid 2012), both USB & wifi

I have been trying to install the Canon MG3170 to my Macbook Air (mid 2012 version) using OS X Version 10.8.4. I followed the paper manual that came with the box & used the CD provided. In the midst of the installation, "AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE TRYING TO ADD THE SELECTED PRINTER: UNABLE TO FIND THE APPROPRIATE SOFTWARE ON YOUR SYSTEM AFTER RUNNING SOFTWARE UPDATE."
    Problems:
    1) Cannot connect on Network because there is no WPS button on my Airport Extreme and Airport Express.
    2) Cannot print, both via USB or wifi network.
When I bought the printer, I specifically selected this because it has Airprint and wireless printing and was one of the few printers in the Apple Online store. However, I have been having a lot of issues getting the printer installed to be used on  my Macbook Air.
    Please help!!

    Thank you John Galt!
After running SOFTWARE UPDATE, I restarted the Macbook. (DO NOT CONNECT THE PRINTER TO THE MACBOOK YET!)
Then I connected the Canon Printer MG3170 to my MacBook Air via the USB cable.
Next, I switched on the printer.
    I am able to print and scan (via USB cable) from;
SYSTEM PREFERENCES - PRINT & SCAN - select CANON MG3100 series.
To install applications for printing & scanning, go to http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/contents/ASIA/EN/8201148300.html
However, this solved part of the question above, i.e., printing via USB cable (which is not the whole purpose of using the Airprint Printer) but at least it is a start.
*NOTE: UNINSTALL any prior Canon softwares and drivers specifically installed for this printer first before attempting the steps above as it may interfere with the installation process.

    Hi Dagnabit47,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue adding a wireless printer on your MacBook Air. The article linked below will walk you through the process of adding the printer and ensure the MacBook Air setup correctly.
OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14143
    Add a Wi-Fi printer
Follow the instructions that came with the printer to connect it to your Wi-Fi network and turn it on. Use the instructions to unpack the printer, install ink or toner, and add paper. For more information, see this article:
Apple Support article: Connecting a Wi-Fi printer to your Wi-Fi network
Choose Apple menu > Software Update to make sure OS X has the latest information about printer software it can download from Apple. If Software Update doesn’t list an update for your printer, you have the latest software.
Open a document to print, then choose File > Print.
Open the Printer pop-up menu and choose your printer in the Nearby Printers section of the menu. If you don’t see your printer, choose Add Printer from the Printer pop-up menu.
A dialog appears listing printers on your local network. It may take a minute or two for your printer to appear.
If you’re asked for an administrator name and password
Select your printer when it appears in the list, and then click Add. OS X automatically uses AirPrint if your printer supports it, or it selects printer software (also called a printer driver) and downloads it from Apple if necessary.
    I hope this helps.

  • My MacBook Air will not print wirelessly to my Canon Pixma MX410

I recently got a MacBook Air computer from work.  I have not been able to set up the wireless printing at home via my Canon Pixma MX410 printer.  I can get it to print from my MacBook Air if i connect it via USB.  and I can get the Canon to print wirelessly from my personal Dell Laptop.
No matter what I have tried: Downloading the Printer Driver MX410 Series 106702.pkg
and still i get the same error.
The Printer is not Connected.  I don't understand how that is, when i can still print from my other computer.  There is some setting that i do not have correct on the MacBook.  What do i need to adjust?  I can't seem to find where it might be in the System Preferences.  When i look at Network  It show's i'm connected to my home Wireless Network.  but i still am unable to print.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

As you can see here, that particular Canon printer is not supported by AirPrint:

More importantly, these directions should help in trying to set up your printer.

  • HP Deskjet 3050A wireless printing problem with Macbook Air

Hello, I have a HP Deskjet 3050A printer that I have been using with my MacBook Air (2012 OS X 10.8.3) until a few weeks ago when it seemed to hang when trying to print and then say no printer found (even though it showed and was selected in the Printer options). So after a few weeks of this I decided to to remedy this issue once and for all by deleting the printer and 'refinding' it.
However, upon 'refinding' printer by adding it through System Preferences no printer is found - I have updated all Macbook air software.
All this time I have been able to continue printing wirelessly using my iPhone 4S and have changed no settings to the iPhone or 3050A which leads me to believe the proble the problem may lie with the Macbook Air?
Can you help resolving this please? Thanks

What router are you using?  Have you restarted it by pulling its power plug momentarily?
If that does not work, download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Finally, reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • IPad2, Macbook air and iPhone 4S doesnt find/recognize HP photosmart 5510 printer ?

Why MacBook Air, iPad2 and iPhone 4S doesn't find / recognize anymore HP photosmart 5510 printer ?

I would suggest starting with your MacBook Air.
The Photosmart 5510 is listed as supported by Apple.  So I suggest setting it up under your MacBook Air as described in this Mac Print 101 article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670
Then hopefully your iOS devices will see it on AirPrint.

  • Macbook Air running OS Mavericks won't print wirelessly to Officejet 4620

I'm running a 2014 macbook air running OS 10.9.3 with an officejet 4620 all connected to the same wireless network.  I have an older Macbook running OS 10.7.5.  The older macbook will print fine wirelessly to the printer.  The new macbook air will connect to the printer and scan from the printer.  However, when I try to print something from word it says it's sending the job to the printer and that the job is complete, but nothing prints.  It doesn't even try to print.  I went into HP settings and printed a test page without a problem.  I'm guessing it has to be something in OS Mavericks.  Anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to the HP Forums Sanduvall,
I read your post which indicates that you can't print from Maverick, but it will scan.
I can help you with this.
Are you using the newest drivers from HP?
HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers - OS X 10.9 Maverick...
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. The Airprint driver might be installed instead of the Printer's driver. (usually defaults to Airprint)
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen should show the name.
If the printer name shows Airprint then that is the Apple drivers, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
    Test the printer again.
If you are still having issue then please try the following steps:
Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:
    Close all applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.
Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions.
    Restart the computer.
    Reset the Printing System:
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Click the Apple icon ( ), and then click System Preferences.
    Click Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system.
Then click the + sign, then select the printer from the list and click on the Add button.
(make sure it shows the printer name beside Use, not the Airprint driver)
    Try printing again.
If you need further assistance, let me know.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Thank You.

  • Problems with wireless printer set up for Macbook Air and iMac

I'm not having success in setting up  my Macbook Air (2012 ML version) and iMac wirelessly to a new Epson 837 printer. I've tried darn near everything and am coming to the conclusion that perhaps it's a router issue. Are there known issues with the Netgear N600? It's supposed to be Airprint compatible but yet my ipad and iphone doesn't recongnize either.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Yup, and since all your devices can probably access the Internet and other services over the router, you may want to study the printer's manual or use other Epson resources to figure out why that thing can't be talked to.
Oh, did I mention that already...?

  • Problem with MacBook Air connecting to Epson Stylus sx600fw wirelessly

    Hi
I have been trying to set up my new Macbook Air with Epson Stylus sx600fw.  Previously this printer was being used via USB with a PC.  I have set up the printer on macbook via USB, but under the advice of online resources, erased that and began trying to set it up for wifi use.  The printer cannot be found in the Print & Scan section of settings, and when i enter it in manually with IP address, it can find the software to install but gets stuck and says "Unable to verify the printer on your network".  After further research i have tried to Ping the printer, which does not work.  One thing that i notice is that the Subnet Mask is different than the apple default...for the printer it is 255.255.0.0, where for apple it is 255.255.255.0 but i dont know how to change this
Any advice for where it might be getting stuck or what I can do?
    thanks!!!

    Restart the Mac
Re-add the printer (do not use the AirPrint driver)

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
AirPrint requires OS X Lion (OS X 10.7) or Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8), so you can't use it with OS X 10.5. Anyway, open  > About this Mac, and tell me what version you are running, just to make sure that you are running a supported Mac OS X version

  • Problelm print from 13" macbook air OSX10.8.4 to hp x476dw

Priting issues from Macbook 13" to HP X476DW.
When printing, the printer will respond, the door opens on the printer, it thinkgs about it and you hear things moving, then the door closes.  Queue empty, it thinks it did it's thing.  Could be printing protocol issue where it expects one format over another, but unsure where to define this in osx.
Printer works fine from my windows computers on the network.
Printer works fine printing from Ipad devices using airprint.
I've used the reset printers option multiple times (to try different printer setups)
I used direct network access using mac standard installations.
    I used airprint setup
I used wireless direct setup (nice features of this printer)
This is a brand new Macbook air with OSX 10.8.4.
in EVERY CASE the printer door will simply open, wait a while, and close.  Nothing printed, not even a blank sheet of paper comes out.  I can go to my windows PC and print right away no problem.
Side note, the scanner is working fine and since the printer does respond to the document (by beginning the process with opening the door) there is communitcation.
Any help on this?  Has anyone else experienced this?  It behaves like it does not know what to do with print data (as if it were sending in the wrong protocol, like PCL6 vs PS...)
    Thanks in advance,
    Marc

  • Apple macbook air compatibility with HP Officejet 6500 Wireless

    Two questions
    1. If I buy a new current model  MacBook Air, will it work with my HP Officejet 6500 Wireless printer?
    2. Sometimes when I power up the printer, it can take as long as five minutes to register "ready." Why the erratic time to go online?
    Thanks

Thanks for your swift reply to the Apple/HP compatibility question.  Trust it will work when I buy MacBook Air. The HP app available at iTunes store helped us make our older Apple IPad print compatible even though the HP 6500 Wireless is not equipped with AirPrint.
Regarding slowness of HP 6500 to reach "Ready" stage for printing. This is a printer for home use, so it not on a network. It always eventually prints.
    Your help is much appreciated.
