HP4050N printer install problems

Unable to find driver to install HP4050 on a Windows XP 32-bit operating system using a parallel port cable.
- Tried using Add Printer Wizard but that only seems to work for a plug and play printer (this one is older). Did not check off the "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer" meaning I checked the box for Local printer attached to this computer using LPT1:
- I only have an HPLaser Jet 4050 monochrome printer disk
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thank you
Herb

I have never set up my printer to the computer and as a result I can't scan or buy into the automatic ink deliveries. I tried setting it up but it is still saying my computer found Thanks Cathy

  • New Canon Pixma MG2220 printer - install problems on Windows XP

I bought a new Pixma MG2220 printer and received it 2 days ago. I followed the instructions and installed it from the provided CD on my 10 year old Compaq S4020WM desktop computer upgraded with 1GB RAM and 1TB hard drive running Windows XP SP3.
The CD installation took a very long time to complete (maybe an hour or so) and things did not work right. In particular the My Image Garden software was very slow and sluggish to respond. So I downloaded and installed the latest drivers and software from the Canon website on top of the existing installation, which did not help. The My Image Garden software began crashing completely with an error message about a bad .dll file. After talking to Canon tech support on the telephone, the support tech admitted that this software CD was probably not compatible with my old XP computer. The My Image Garden software uses like 500MB RAM which is too much resources for my machine. So the rep had me uninstall My Image Garden.
At that point I decided to uninstall everything and start over from scratch because something was obviously not right. For example, the Canon MP drivers were using 755 MB RAM, which seemed much too large. Obviously things had not installed properly from the setup CD, in general. The date on the setup CD was 2011, so apparently it was 2 years old, and long out of date!?
So I uninstalled everything except the Canon registration and onscreen user manual. I also kept Windows Adobe RGB 1998 because I didn't see any way to uninstall it. I also uninstalled .NET 4 which the setup CD had said was necessary, as well as Microsoft XPS EP which My Image Garden had also told me was needed. Then I cleaned up my computer as well as possible with help of Revouninstaller and Ccleaner, which was necessary because things were very messy with many uninstalled remnants and incorrect registry entries. I feel lucky to have survived those tasks without having to reinstall my op system. It wasn't easy.
Then I installed the following 2 modules (only) downloaded from the Canon website:
    MG2200 series MP Drivers Ver. 1.01 (Windows 8/8...         01/31/13     14.07 MB
    File Name: mp68-win-mg2200-1_01-ejs.exe
This file is a driver for Canon IJ multifunction printers. You can install the following items of the software: MP Drivers: The driver for Canon IJ multifunction printer. IJ Scan Utility: The software that allows you to easily scan photos, documents, etc.
    *My Printer Ver. 3.1.0 (Windows 8/8 x64/7/7 x64/...         01/07/13     5.12 MB
    File Name: mypr-win-3_1_0-ea11_2.exe
This file allows you to easily change the settings such as the paper source settings and provides you with information on how to solve problems such as ink smudging.
I believe that's everything required to access all of the print, copy, and scan operations of this MG2220 printer. Based on my current understanding, I would classify everything else as optional. I use free Irfanview for editing and manipulation of images, which seems a satisfactory substitute for the other software.
I did not reinstall .NET 4 or Microsoft XPS EP, because apparently they're only required if you install the My Image Garden and/or Quick Menu modules. I also did not reinstall the Easy-WebPrint EX module which apparently only applies to printing with the Internet Explorer browser, while I primarily use Firefox, Chrome, or Opera browsers. And of course I did not reinstall My Image Garden nor the Quick Menu, which were so problematical originally.
On the bright side, the Canon MP drivers appeared to install correctly this time, using only 35 MB RAM (vs 755 MB previously). Also the Canon IJ Scan utility was reinstalled automatically as a part of that driver installation process. Those items have their own shortcuts. I found it useful to make one additional shortcut via Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes > "Canon MG2220 series printer", to allow easy access to all of the internal printer settings and variables. Like I said, I believe this is all that's required, in addition to some image manipulation software such as Irfanview. I deal mostly with documents and never print photos nor use cameras. Those who have large photo collections and/or cameras may need something like My Image Garden or Easy-PhotoPrint EX.
I previously used Lexmark printers for the prior 10+ years, where everything is controlled by software from the computer. I never had to use the buttons on the printer. That's obviously different with this Canon printer, which will take some getting used to.
I'm disappointed that there's apparently no way to enlarge or reduce the % copy size with this model. Is there? I also don't find any setting for lighter/darker when making copies. Is there? There are apparently no other enhancements or filters available when copying. Are there? Similarly, scanning seems remarkably unversatile with this model and I can't find any way to set a scan for ligher/darker or apply various enhancements/filters. Are there?
The printing seems OK, but I must still decide whether the very limited copy and scan options will be sufficient to my needs. I'm not sure yet. I might take it back for a refund and get something better, if I knew what was better. That's another research project. Suggestions?
    Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks for your info but the MG5420 is more than twice the cost at my local Walmart and Staples stores.
I thought I was being smart to buy the MG2220 as a later model(?), but it looks like the prior model MG2120 has more copier and scanner features according to the online specs at the Canon website (see copies below).
For example the MG2120 allows 25%-400% reduction/enlargement when copying, while the MG2220 does not. Can you verify this?
Also does the MG2120 allow for setting copying to lighter/darker? (I don't understand that complicated technical lingo in the specs.)
    Thanks.

  • Printing problem - no such printer installed

    Dear sirs,
today I write to report another issue with printing. It sometimes happen, completely random, that after a print with a printer (no matter which printer) if I select another printer and press "Printer preferences" from your "amazing print dialog"(TM), an alert appear with the message "no such printer" or "no such printer installed" (I use a localized version of PS5 so I don't know the exact message in English, but I'm sure you can understand).
The solution is to shut down PS5, open it again, open the file again, open the print dialog again, select the printer again, select Printer Preferences again, and it finally works (ok, there is still the number of copies issue, so I have to do the whole process one more time to print correctly).
    Please check this too.
Don't you have a tool to make debug file to allow you to check what is happening?

Windows 7 has a built in Problem Step Recorder. You can use that (if you have Windows 7).
Wait a second you wrote you have Photoshop 5 (PS5)? That is way old software. What Operating System are you trying to run that on?

  • HP Printer Install Wizard Problem

I'm trying to download the latest drivers for the K209a all in one printer through the HP Printer Install wizard which is the only way given to download the drivers on the support page, But every time after completing the 140 mb download it throws me an error saying my download was cancelled and to retry later. Please help, I would like to have the direct link to the software so that I can download it manuall my self.

Hi , I saw your post regarding the problems you are having with downloading Windows 10 Software for your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage - K209a and I may be able to help.
I've read a few post that indicate that the Windows 8.1 driver should work on Windows 10. Here is the link to the downloads page, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage All-in-One Printer series - K209 Full Feature Software and Driver. From here you may have to click the Edit link in order to choose Windows 8.1.   Here is the direct link to the download as well, just in case; HP Deskjet Ink Advantage K209 Full Feature Software and Driver.   Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

  • Office 2010 - "Word cannot print, there is no printer installed"

    Hi All,
Been having a problem recently on many PC's at a site where they run Windows 7 x64 with Office 2010 x86.
Printing usually happens with no issue, however sometimes when they click the print icon, (in the 'file-->print' section) it will display 'word cannot print, there is no printer installed'.
The client tells me they can go to control panel and print a test page successfully, but word/excel will not print. In order to resolve the issue they close the program, reopen it and printing works straight away. Today I asked them to restart the print
spooler, instead of closing/reopening word, this did not resolve the issue. closing and reopening did fix the issue.
So far they have experienced the issue with Word and Excel only, however they don't use the other programs a great deal.
The printers are distributed with group policy. In addition to network printers they use PDF Factory (which is like PDF Creator).
I have been unable to reproduce the issue.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Hi,
From your description , I understand that you got message ”word cannot print, there is no printer installed” when clicked the print icon.
If you do not have a default printer, use the Add Printer Wizard to install one.
    Follow these steps:
Click Start and then click Devices and Printers.
Under Printer Tasks, click Add a printer, and then follow the instructions to install your default printer driver.
Note If your printer model is not listed in the Manufacturers and Printers lists, see the Hardware
Compatibility List (HCL) for an updated driver. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
    http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx
If your printer is not on the HCL, contact the printer manufacturer for drivers and instructions.
    Sincerely,
    Harry

  • Windows 8/8.1: Printer Offline Problems

    Windows 8/8.1: Printer Offline Problems
Are you getting an error that your network or wireless printer is offline when you try to print?
When you print to your network printer, does it fail, and when you check the printer status it says Offline?
Do you have problems printing to your wireless printer after your PC has been asleep?
If you answered YES to any of the above questions, then you have a problem with your network printer being offline.  After some investigation into this problem, we recommend updating windows.  Run Windows update to check that your version of Windows 8 is up to date.
There are a few windows updates that may help with this problem
    1)    Install this Microsoft patch to make sure this private-public-private network issue does not reoccur. It is part of the April 2014 Windows Update package for Windows 8.1 and Server2012 R2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355).
    2)      Install this Microsoft patch for the WSD service.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3000461
If this does not help, then please follow the steps list below which will give you a Workaround that may help with this problem.
Assign the printer a static IP address
An IP address is an Internet network address that the computer can use to communicate with the printer. Enter a static IP address to make sure that the wireless connection remains stable. Follow these steps to assign the printer a static IP address.
    Get the printer IP address.
Press the Wireless button on the printer control panel to view the network settings.
Access the Network menu on the printer control panel.
Print a Network Configuration Page or Wireless Test Report page.
Once you have the printer's IP address, open a new web browser window or tab.
Type the IP address in your web browser's address bar, and then press Enter.
Make sure that you type the IP address into the browser's address box. If you type it into a tool bar search box, the EWS will not open.
If the message 'There is a problem with this website's security certificate' appears in the web browser when you try to open the embedded web server (EWS), or when you navigate within the EWS, click ' Continue to this website (not recommended)'.
     note:
Choosing 'Continue to this website (not recommended)' will not harm your computer while you navigate within the EWS for your printer. If you encounter this error outside of your printer's EWS, your computer could be at risk.
If the browser fails to open the EWS after you click 'Continue to this website (not recommended)', refresh the browser window.
The Embedded Web Server (EWS) for the printer opens and confirms that the printer is on the same network as the computer.
In the EWS, click the Network tab.
In the Wireless section, click the Network Address (IP) or IPv6 configuration, depending on your network setup.
Click Manual IP, and then click Suggest a Manual IP Address. A manual IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway displays.
After the manual IP address populates, click Manual DNS Server.
     note:
Keep a record of the manual IP address for reference.
On the Network Configuration Page you printed earlier, locate the DNS Server addresses, type the DNS addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.
If the DNS addresses are not listed on the Network Configuration Page, or if you have trouble accessing the network or Internet with the original DNS addresses, use one of the following methods to obtain DNS addresses.
Method one: Use publicly available DNS server addresses
Configure the printer using publicly available DNS server addresses. To find available DNS server addresses, search online for 'public DNS servers'.
After you find public DNS server addresses, type the addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.
Method two: Get the network DNS information via your computer
Select your operating system, and then use the following directions to obtain the DNS server addresses.
Right-click the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Run, type cmd, and then press Enter.
When the command window opens, type ipconfig /all, and then press Enter. Information about the computer's network displays.
Scroll to and locate the DNS Server addresses.
In the EWS, type the DNS addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.
Print a test page to make sure that the printer's IP address is the same as you assigned.
Right-click the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, type HP and click your printer in the results. Click Utilities, and then click Update IP address to update the address in the software.
Adding a Wireless Network Printer using Control Panel
Go to Control Panel and choose Devices and Printers
    Click on Add Printer
The PC will search the local network and display the network printers.
Choose the printer and select Next
The system will then try and auto select a compatible driver
Select the current driver and Click Next
The system will then ask for a name for the printer. The user can change the name and then click Next
The User can then choose to share the printer
The user can select to make this new printer the default and then click Finish.
The new printer is now setup but this printer may be using the In OS driver (Class) rather than the HP Full Function driver.
To change the printer to use the HP Full Function driver follow the following instructions. I would recommend changing the driver to the HP Full Function driver as the User can then use features such as Custom paper sizes.
Go back into Control Panel and choose devices and Printers, right click on the newly created printer and choose Printer Properties
    Choose the Advanced Tab
Click on the driver section drop down and choose the Driver for the printer that does not have the words Class driver after it.
Click apply and then OK and the driver will be changed to the HP Full Function driver for the printer.
The user should try this configuration and see if they still experience problems.
    Please Note:
DO NOT Remove the Original Printer Icon from Devices and Printers as the HP Printer Assistant will stop working.

    I work for HP

I have the printer offline problem. It started when I ran out of toner. I have now installed a new toner cartridge.
Your solution does not help me because I have tried to install Win8.1 and it failed.
I would just reinstall my printer but I have a long list of items in my print queque and I don't want to lose them.
    Is there another solution?
Or is there a way I can save the print queue?

  • Windows 7 - HP Laserjet 8500 print driver problem

I have tried everything imaginable to correct this HP 8500n print driver problem with no success, please help!
I cannot correct or get rid of a reoccurring “Incompatible Print Settings” error dialog box message that repeatedly states that “There are one or more conflicting settings. One of the settings is: Output Bin: Mailbox 1, Accessory Output Bin: Not Installed”. The radio button options are “Restore my previous settings or Keep this setting, and I will change it later”. This same dialog message repeats 13 times for all the other various conflicts each time you click on printer properties to change to 2 sided printing or any other printer settings. This printer does not have any of these features attached or set into it.
I am a volunteer that manages a number of computers on our small church LAN, 2 computers operating on MS XP-SP3, 2 on MS Windows 7 Home Premium and my 2 problem computers that came pre-installed with Vista Home Premium of which I have performed an HP OEM upgrade to Window 7.
I have isolated this print driver problem to the Vista operating system and even when computers are upgraded to Windows 7 does not correct this driver error. I have also tried every possible print driver variant of the HP 8500, HP8550, PCL, PS to include the Microsoft versus HP versions with no success. In each case I get this error yet neither of the XP computers or the computers that had Windows 7 as a original operating system have no problems with their print drivers for this printer.
Yes, I have repeatedly searched and upgraded the operating system and print drivers. In desperation I have even tried to find the correctly behaving Windows 7 print driver and transfer it to these Vista upgraded to Windows 7 machines. However I could not isolate the driver location.
The only thing I can conclude is that this errant HP print driver was resident within Vista and remains resident even after a HP OEM Windows 7 upgrade. Additionally, all of these computers are configured to access this printer via its static IP address on the network.  The XP computers are 32 bit, all of the Vista upgraded to Win 7 and OEM Win 7 computers are 64 bit machines all with respective OS.
Can anyone please help me correct this problem?

    Hi,
Unfortunately I can't see your uploaded image yet as it is awaiting approval from HP.
From what I can see you are correct that HP does supply drivers for this printer and that the drivers for your printer are already included with Windows 7.  On the machines affected, try the procedure below to see if it helps at all
Next download revo uninstaller on the link below and install it.
    http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-freeware-version.php
Disconnect the printer from the PC.
Run Revo and see if it finds any  HP Printer Software installed.  If it does, right click the software icon and select uninstall.  During the process you may be asked to delete registry entries.  If you are, just select all and click delete.  Do the same for any left over files and folders.  Once completed, reboot the PC.
Re-connect your printer to the PC and follow the guide below.
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?&objectID=c02536257
If this helps you will need to repeat the process on each of the affected machines.
    Best wishes,

  • Deskjet 3520e all in one printer network problems

    Hi All.
I have a brain teaser for the technical types out there hoping someone can shed some light on a weird sort of problem.
History: All has been fine with my g6 Pavillion latop 64bit W8 and 3520e all in one printer and working as always very well.
Oct 16th 2014 My broadband service went down and after many communictions with ISP eventualy received (Nov 4th) and installed a new "super hub modem".
OK so far, Managed to connect laptop via wireless router and connect to internet etc., however . . . I cannot get my printer to network as before, I can use it via USB port but if I try to network it, The Cyan ink cartridge reports as being broken or damaged even though 3/4 full and will not allow printing, but when connect via USB port the Cyan ink cartridge registers normal and will print as expected.
Has anyone else come across this problem?
If I go down the route of uninstalling and reinstallin the Printer software is there a set order in which to do so?
In the list of programs these four are shown. .
HP Deskjet 3520 series Basic Device Software
    HP Deskjet 3520 series Help
HP Deskjet 3520 series Product Improvement Study
HP Deskjet 3520 series Setup Guide.
I would like very much to get back to network printing if at all possible.
The router IP address is 192.168.1.3
The printer IP address is 192.168.0.1
I have been led to believe that as the addresses are so close this shouldnt be the cause.
I must add that in the past I have had occasional printer software problems which I was unable to resolve without help from the technical centre and I would prefer not to restart the installation if at all possible.
    Your comments would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Un1corn.

    Hi @Un1corn
What exactly happens when you try to convert from USB to Wireless and configure the printer to the Virgin Media Super Hub? Do you get an error message of some sort?
Maybe there is a firewall on the Super Hub. Do you have the model number for this device? I can look up some information to see what could be casing the issue.
In the meantime, running the Print and Scan Doctor might help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
    Connectivity:
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.

If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.

    Hi @svennius,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are having a problem with installing your HP Photosmart 5522 on Windows 8. I am happy to help!
Some questions, if you do not mind:
How is the printer being connected? Wireless or USB?
Are you still able to make copies with your printer?
Do you see any error messages on the printer's display screen?

  • T 420s cooling air coming out is very hot, finger print reader problem

I am living in ruwais, abudhabi.i bought T 420s in last June from LENOVO  authorized distributor. Model number is 4174-KK4 and the sr no ***.
Sometime the cooling air coming out is very hot, unable to keep the laptop on the lap.
The cooling fan also replaced still the temperature is high.
After replacing the fan I noticed that I noticed one of the screws was not fixed, I asked them to fix it, then they fixed it.
I traveled back to my home 240 KM from the  authorized distributor service  center. when I started the laptop, the fingerprint reader was not working . Then I traveled back 240 KM to the  authorized distributor service  center to fix the issue. They fixed the fingerprint reader problem.
Then now the SD card reader is not working. I was asked to bring the laptop to the  authorized distributor service centre.
Can any one experience the same type of problems  with T 420s the cooling air coming out is very hot, finger print reader problem, card reader not working?
The authorized distributor says for the service they can only cover 50 KM form the  authorized distributor service  center to the customer point, what is the conditions for the On site warranty ?. I am living 240 KM away from the authorized distributor service center from whom I bought the laptop.

Well clearly after the first incident. You need to check and us it verifying everything is working before leaving the service center or town its in. Go to a coffee shop and spend time using it and test each option is working.
When the notebook its opened the finger print reader, card reader etc may not be connect properly or connectors not snap fully and disconnect. Mouse ultranav I have heard may also. But clearly you assume too much and you need to spend the time testing its working before leaving.
These service center are only paid a fixed amount so they won't spend anymore time then they have to and address one problem you brought it in for.
As for heat out put and over heating. There are many threads on these systems you can find and read about.
    Advice:
    - install Core Temp, this will monitor and display on the task bar you CPU core temp and you can see CPU load & Temperature at a glance if it approaching or staying near the max levels which will kill the CPU and/or motherboard due to cooking it. Its free just be sure to deselect any additional software from installing during the process. I use it on my notebooks. If the system is running high core Temp all the time you need to have it resolved or it will die and most likely out of warranty and/or your data will be lost if you don't have a backup as well. http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
    - use a laptop cooler. Its a flat pad you sit the laptop on you lap or table with usually two cooling fans that plug into the USB port for power. It will help cool the base of the laptop and other components inside will not be as hot. This will do nothing for the CPU temperature though.

  • Printer Spooler Problems when I try to print in Excel, drivers are deleted!

I recently installed my HP Laser-jet 2600n drivers on to my laptop (HP G61).  For a few days everything worked fine, then when I tried to print a spreadsheet in Excel, I received the message "no printer drivers installed".  I reinstalled them, and once again the same thing happened. I re did it, and this time printed out from my email, a word doc, and the internet, all OK, but when I went back into Excel (2007), it once again deleted the files. When I do a diagnostic check on the HP website, it tells me there is a print spooler problem, and proceeds to fix it, but then it all starts again. I have now reloaded the drivers at least 6 times, it is getting very frustrating. I would appreciate any help.

'''bold text'''I've tried several different virtual pdf printer applications including:
    Foxit pdf printer
    doPDF v 7
    Nitro PDF driver v5
    NovaPDF
    Simpo PDF Creator
    qvPDF
    Virtual PDF Printer
I took screenshots of the same small section of a sample pdf file saved to pdf using the virtual pdf printer freeware doPDF v7.
Both test screenshots were taken on the same computer, a laptop running Vista Home Premium.
You can clearly see the problem!

  • Print Cartridge problem : [Tri Color]

I have HP officejet 4500. On installing the new cartridge, I get error message "Print Cartridge problem : [Tri Color]. Refer to device documentation for troubleshoot." I have run diagnostic test 41 and it shows Previous error as "Pen in left chute has too many good resistors, probably means shorted fires". Can somebody help me what does this error means?

Hello, I see by your post that you are getting the message "Print Cartridge problem : [Tri Color]. Refer to device documentation for troubleshoot." I can help you with this.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. I have provided a document with some steps to try to see if that will resolve the issue. Manually cleaning the cartridges and contacts and resetting the printer.'Incorrect Print Cartridge' or 'Print Cartridge Problem' Message Displays on the Computer. Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
What are the ink levels? If you need further assistance, just let me know. Have a nice day!
    Thank You.
