HP4700 print order duplex printing

We have a 4 bin HP4700 color laserjet in the office. The top bin (2) has a printed letterehead. This works fine if you print single-sided (simplex) but if you tick the box to print Duplex in Finishing it prints the first page on the BACK of the paper and UPSIDE DOWN.
Is there anyway to set the printer to handle the paper the same way for both simplex and duplex printing.  I have tried fooling it by telling it to print duplex on a single sheet but it won't.
It is not practical to have to keep turning the paper over and around every time you want to print double-sided.

Depending on what application you are using, you might have the option to tell it there is letterhead in one of the trays.
Also,  Use the HP Enterprise driver to print.  It has the best support for the printer.

  • Using a mac 10.6.8 to print duplex to HP laserjet P1606dn, order of paper comes out mixed up

using a mac 10.6.8 to print duplex to HP laserjet P1606dn, order of paper comes out mixed up as follows: the first page out is page 2, with 1 on reverse side, next page is page 4, with 3 on reverse side., etc.  This requires that I re-collate every paper I print.  Have tried a few things in set up and re-installing the printer, but still not fixed.

I am having the same problem.  Nice to see that HP has not responded.

  • Smartform purchase order print duplex terms

I have made change to print TERMS page last and it works.
Also the folder NOTES after MAIN still works as does page number, ie the TERMS do not add to total number of pages.
However, page TERMS does not duplex and the printer can print in duplex. The device is HPLJ4350 and set for HP4300; but I did see that it did not have specific print mode print controls on that device type.
I used SO10 for text SAPSCRIPT-PRINTMODETEST and it does all the print modes fine.
SMARTFORM /SMB40/MMPO_L was used as base form that I modified.
I added command node at end of MAIN where I checked Go to new page and Include Printer Control           SPMDU (this is the print control that was not specific to the device type).
Any correct solutions will bring points to you!

I think you want to do the following...
PAGE   >  NEXT PAGE  >  OUTPUT OPTION (print mode)
    FIRST   >  TERMS          >       D(uplex)
    TERMS >  NEXT             >       blank
    NEXT    >  TERMS          >       D(uplex)
The variation in my scenario previously described I wants the terms only on the back of last page.  I have since read that it is now believed that it is better to have preprinted terms and NOT have logic to print terms in SMARTFORM at all.  But I don't buy that as I feel the resource usage is not really a big deal and printing terms does NOT really impact adversely.  However, if you want solution that is universal regardless of print hardware capabilities, preprinting is the way to go.

  • Manual duplex printing doesn't work for LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a

    Hi !
OS Windows 8.1. Printer LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a. Driver version 61.108.8.10073 date 2011 Apr 13th
    1. After switching on checkbox "Print on Both Sides (Manually)" on "Finishing" tab of Print Properties Dialog and
start printing, dialog with instruction how to turn paper appears. Then printer must print odd pages, stop for
turning paper and then continue printing of even pages on the back side of paper sheets. But my device prints
all pages sequentually in order 1,2,3,... without any breaks. What is it- my mistake or possible bug in driver ?
    2. Windows API function DeviceCapabilities with fwCapability=DC_DUPLEX for this printer returns 0 (duplex printing
impossible). This value for any other HP printer, even without automatic duplexer, always equel to 1.

    Hi,
In your terms and conditons page ouput options select print mode as 'D' ( dUPLEX ) and for this page the
next page should be space and call this terms page through command node at the end of main window and after the tables.

  • How do I "Print Booklet" with just odd pages and even pages for duplexing . . options disabled

I have InDesign CS5.5 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine hooked to a Xerox 7750 printer.  I have created a 8.5x11 portrait document and trying to create a booklet on 12x18 sheets.
I need to print duplex manually and so I need to print just the odd spreads and then the even spreads.
I have printed to Adobe PDF and printed from my created PDF file and have it working, but I want to know why InDesign won't let me do it.  When I click "File > Print Booklet > Print Settings" then it shows the Print Dialog box with the Pages section, which includes the Sequence that normally would allow me to do Odd Pages or Even Pages, but it is disabled.  Why?  I can define Print Presets and I can choose Odd Pages, but when I choose that in the Preset box it does not show anything, everything is still disabled.
Anybody have any idea of why it is disabled?  Is it my printer driver?

I too was very frustrated after upgrading to indesign cs5.5 and the latest LION OS on my new MAC.  I missed the odd/even page selection in the print dialog box within Indesign.  I tried about everything and found little of value in various forums.  But I did find a workable solution that makes since in terms of Apple's OS.
My objective is to "impose" my document and also end up with a file that I can just print again and again without "ripping" in the InDesign Print Booklet Dialog.
Here is the quick version of what to do.  I am not including every little step with pictures. =)  (I can if there is interest.)
    1. create your document
    2. Print Booklet
    3. At the first dialog box, just ignore the printer in print preset (you will come back to this) and go to the 2-up perfect bound option and select 16 page signatures.  This will impose 2-up on 4 physical pieces of paper printed both sides.  So 16 of your document pages printed duplex on 4 physical sheets of paper.  It would be nice to then just select the printer and scaling, etc. and the option to print even pages, flip over and then print odd pages but that ain't an option.  If you have different needs, do the math and input the correct numbers before proceeding
    4. Click on Print Settings  to pull up a second dialog box.
    5. Select for Printer PostScript File (not your printer)  Also select for PPD your printer or Adobe PDF 9 if you have that installed.  Don't obsess on this just pick your Printer for the PPD.
    6. Select 1 copy and All Pages while in the General Tab
    7. Select the Setup Tab Here is where you put in the actual physical paper size that you are going to print your document on. Don't scale to fit.  You must do this.  If you feel the need, check out all the tabs and options but for now, you are just trying to get an output file.  You probably do want to select CENTER for page position in this same setup tab.
    8. Hit OK whcih will return you to the original dialog.  Check when you return to be sure that at the top Printer is populated with PostScript File.  Click on Print and give the thing a name and a location to save at the resulting dialog.
Breathe as you are almost home.  You have sucessfully created a file that can be called up again and again without opening InDesign. (albeit, a postscript file but not a problem)
    Now,
    1. Double click on this new file (it will have a .ps extention) or just open it in your PREVIEW (apple supplied utility)   Preview is where you accomplish the even and odd page objective.
    2. Preview will show you a short progress dialog while it rips this postscript file into a PDF.
    3. Click on PRINT
    4. Select your printer, page range, select the Paper Size (again not document size  but  the size sheet that you are printing the 2-up , imposed (booklet) document on. If not in the selection dialog, then use the custom option to create it (custom paper size) and give it a name.
    5. Click on SCALE and insert 100% in place of the weird number that it will insert for you.  You will then see your document correctly displayed in the sidebar preview window.
    6.  OK, now what you have been waiting for. Click on the box that says Preview (the active window) and select Paper Handling from the drop-down and select from Pages to Print the coveted odd or even page selection.  You can also do other things that should have been back at the InDesign print dialog but are now gone.  Explore. Enjoy.
    7.  You will have to work out your own work flow about reverse or no reverse order and how to flip, etc. But you will be working with something predictable at this point.
    8.  Since this has been ripped into a PDF , you might as well Click on the PDF button and click on save as a PDF at this point to save that postscript to PDF rip.   Also print using PREVIEW for the newly created PDF file next time as you will not have to learn a bunch of new dialogs and be frustrated all over again.
I am now back in business printing the book blocks for my handbound journals.

  • Manual Duplexing use on a HP Laserjet P1102w printer-How is it done?

This is a first using a manual duplex option on a printer and I have been unable to print on both sides of an HP Laserjet P1102w printer, despite doing the following:
    Went to Print Setup
Under Finish: chose Print on Both Sides Manually
    Left edge binding
and although it prints....I can't seem to get the 'booklet' to print correctly on the other side; Not even sure how to correctly get the paper in so it doesn't double print on the same page.
: I've tried to print first reverse pages,
    then even pages in reverse,
but still unable to get the pages in order to fold and create a booklet or print multiple pages on both sides...has anyone had experience with this on what is the best way to try and print documents in booklet form or just both pages to save paper?
Is there a driver or support that will help with this?
No visual screen pops up on the monitor to help with placing the papers so it will print correctly and I have already tried with just a 6 page booklet and failed there.
I've tried googling the results, checked the HP website for any information and either have missed the support information to do this or assume there is none.
    Any insight would be appreciated.

  • Pages: Special problem with duplex printing on hp310c

I used to produce and print double sided flyers with pages on my ipad4. My HP 310c printer is ready to print duplex. Everything worked fine until I loaded the IOS7 version of pages (Nov 13). Now there are problems. If I fold the flyer the second page is printed up side down. After some research in internet it seems to me that until the IOS 7 version pages had as default setting "flip on short edge" and now it changed to "flip on long edge". The mac version of pages allows you to toggle between this options (duplex printing). I see no way to change this on my ipad.
The problem seems to be a little bit tricky, but perhaps there is anybody out there to help me.
    Thanks Manfred

TThat is my problem also. You are flipping to the long side, you need to flip to the short side. I order to get the back one to be right side up. I was able to get windows 8 to do that today without doing anything beside selecting landscape and flip to short side. But when I use my iPad I donot have that selection. I need software to be able to have that option.

  • Duplex printing on Samsung ML3051N with Tiger

    Hi,
I have a network connected samsung ML3051N printer, and I'm trying to print in full duplex mode with it.
On Windows when I select the duplex option, the printer prints one side, then alert me to place the printed sheets on the manual tray to continue printing the other side.
After installing the drivers from Samsung I still see the option to print in duplex but the printer is ignoring it.
I'm looking at using an HP driver to see if this solves my problem...
    Has anyone encountered this problem?
    Thanks.
    Sato

On the Mac, you have to select Paper Handling from the pop-up menu that normally says Copies & Pages. Then select even-numbered pages and reverse order printing, and then print. Then take the papers out, turn them over, and print again, this time selecting odd-numbered pages and normal order.

  • Duplex printing with officejet pro 8000

I am using this officejet pro 8000 to print up some newsletters.  When printing a two sided copy (duplex printing) something happens which changes my border setting.  Printing the exact same document, but electing one-sided copy renders a perfect border.  I would not have a problem copying just one side, then re-loading those in order to make two-sided copies, but the friction caused by the ink on the pages causes mulitple sheets to feed at the same time, jamming the printer.  Has HP ever come up with a fix for this?  I have seen this problem on the net, but the best folks have done (that I have seen) is to upload drivers for older machines.  This has rendered good borders on duplex prints, but diminishes the quality of the print copy.  Whatcha think?

Are you using the latest drivers from HP? If I set up a printer with the HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809 Series PPD, I can see Two-Sided to the right of Collated if the HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked in the Print & Fax -> Options & Supplies -> Driver tab. Trying to resolve it in the printer properties is worse: Adobe Reader seems to override them and I get single sheets single sided. If I select both "two sided" in the Reader dialog and "Duplex" in the printer dialog, the second side overprints the first side (but is the right way up!.

  • Duplex Printing Problem in Adobe Reader X (Mac)

My normal printer setting is for duplex printing. However, Adobe Reader X will only print on one side of the paper.. This is on a MacPro under Mac OSX 10.6.6 and Adobe Reader X Version 10.0.1 printing to a Canon IP4500 inkjet printer. Other applications duplex fine.
Any one else with this problem? Fixes or workarounds?

After having the problem / aggravation, I went through each area trying to
learn how to get past it.  Finally, I checkmarked 3x "Don't Show Me This Again"
Then I established a default printer thereby forcing Adobe to retain print preferences
instead of  defaulting to "Any Printer" and losing custom settings
STEPS I TOOK (you may know of something faster, easier?)
CTRL P  or  File, Print to receive standard print dialogue
Within "Printer:"  use drop down to select  "PRINT & FAX Preferences...."
Note: You can set print & fax preferences thru System Preferences, but for
    now we're here
Select the printer you will normally use and set up a default printer (for Adobe)
If the Lock at bottom left is closed it will require the system admin ID and PWD
to unlock/lock in order to make changes :-)
Once finished close this (top left)
You will be returned to this panel
To the right of the "Printer:" drop down is the arrow that expands your options,
make sure it is aiming UP
Middle of screen is "Layout"  Select the drop down and select "Two-Sided Printing"
Look at the next screen image posted below and you will see there's more steps to
    follow for two sided printing
    Check mark "Print Both Sides"
By Re-Opening the Drop down now showing "Two-Side Printing", you can of
course adjust other items while here
Paper Type/Quality allows you to select items such as print quality, color settings
Select "Print" (bottom right of screen) to return to Adobe Reader Print Page
Save time by opening the "Presets:" dropdown and save this as a custom print setup name
       i.e.  grayscale_DblSided, Color_DblSided...
Finally, Check Mark  "Reverse Pages" to print Back to Front and help Adobe
not to print a single sided first page and double sided pages for the others... Nice!
It's time to press "OK" and hover over the printer to ensure Adobe didn't send
instructions to print your 100 single side pages despite all best efforts
Since going through this rigamarole I have not had to reset it every time

I have an HP Photosmart printer that doesn’t have automatic duplex printing, so instead of manually printing the odds and then flipping the paper and printing the evens, I decided to write a script (I’m very new to script writing, so go easy on me):
    tell application "Microsoft Word"
print out active document print out page type print odd pages only
    end tell
display dialog "After the papers finish printing and after you place the papers back into the printer, rotated 180º, click OK." buttons {"OK"} ¬

if the user_choice is "OK" then
    tell application "Microsoft Word"
print out active document print out page type print even pages only
    end tell
    end if
The only things that are working are the printing and the dialog box. The odd pages and even pages scripts don’t seem to work (though I read this passage from Guy Hart-Davis’s +AppleScript: A Beginner’s Guide+ http://books.google.com/books?id=9uBeokAwNLsC&lpg=PA303&ots=ICfmxTfG-W&dq=apple% 20script%20print%20odd%20number%20pages&pg=PA303#v=onepage&q&f=false) and I can’t find any command that will print my even pages in a reverse order.
