HP5590 after scanning to PDF, outcome rotates 20 degrees

As mentioned in the title, just after scanning a magazine cover in 300 or 600 dpi using the "print to pdf" option, the picture rotates 20-30 degrees out of the screen. So right after scanning it's 100% ok. But when you want to cut off some edges or save the image, it automatically rotates.
The rotation is also saved and cannot be undone. So all scans are useless.
Currently I use the latest available drivers and HP scanning software.
Anyone that knows a solution?
Thanks!!

Hi Kililei,
That's a strange one for sure     Have you had a chance to try HP's Print and Scan doctor to see if it'll fix it automatically?

    Hi Steve
There is a known issue with Acrobat 11 and it is specific to network/shared scanners and Mac OS 10.9. We have logged a bug in our database and we are working with Apple to resolve this issue. The workaround would be to connect the scanner via USB.

  • Scan to pdf C7280 not available after windows 8.1 upgrade

After upgrading to 8.1, my program from HP no longer worked.  Now I cannot scan to PDF on my HP C7280.  my only option now is to scan to JPG or some other useless file type for documents.  I have loaded and reloaded and reloaded the updated driver and complete solution package but it will not finish installing to show me the same HP software I had before, I have to resort to the windows version supplied with Windows 8.1.  PLEASE help!!!!

    Hello gard1104,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you no longer have an option to "Scan to PDF" using the Photosmart C7280. I will do my best to assist you! I realize you have uninstalled/reinstalled the software already. How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB? Let's try a couple of steps:
Please perform a "Level Three Uninstall" on your computer: (If you have this printer connected by a USB cable, then remove this cord from computer.
    a) On the keyboard, hit the Windows key and "R" together. In the Run box type in %temp% and hit enter.
    b) Locate the correct folder starting with "7z" (the correct folder contains "Util" and "CCC" folders).
    c) Open folder "Util".
    d) Open folder "CCC".
    e) Please run the L3uninstall.bat.
    f) When the uninstall has completed, restart the computer.
Also, make sure Adobe Reader is installed on your computer. Please follow this HP document on The PDF File Type Is Not an Option When Scanning from HP Solution Center in Windows. Only perform "Solution Two" from this document.
Next, please perform a clean boot on your computer. I will provide a Microsoft document here to help you. Restart the computer once this step is completed. Now, you want to install the full feature software from the HP website here. Choose your correct operating system; Either 32 bit or 64 bit.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Hp officeJet Pro 8500A plus - can't scan to PDF

    Hello
After scanning from the upper tray (using the web service) I get - "failed to load PDF document".
If I scan from the inner plate to Jpeg it works fine.
What should I do to fix that ?
    Thanks
    Ofer

    Thank you Ofer,
I have some suggestions for you, to hopefully have you scanning again!
Try power cycling the network devices:
Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer.
    Try scanning again.
If that does not help, try Uninstalling the Printer Software, restart the PC and reinstall the printer's Full Feature Driver, here: HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver
Try scanning again through Web Scan, and also try scanning through the printer software that would be installed on your desktop.
Let me know how you make out!
    Have a great Monday

  • Scan to PDF files too large! - Why?? Solution for Windows - How about Mac? (HP-8630)

Scanning a document to a PDF file of reasonable size has been addressed many times - it is always an issue! My wife is a realtor and frequently needs to scan multiple page documents. I found an actual solution last night:
27 page letter-size B&W document - Scan to PDF on my HP-8630 AIO using HP software at 300dpi, small file size, BW: 27MB! Too big to email.
Solution (in Windows 7 at least), if you have Adobe Acrobat:
Open Adobe Acrobat, go to File Menu -  Create - PDF from Scanner - Configure Presets. Select and configure "Black and White Document":
Select TWAIN device (NOT WIA) as the scanner; black and white, 300dpi, file size one notch to left (smaller) from center, check "optimize after scan". Select paper size and one- or two-sided scanning. Uncheck "make searchable". Save the preset. (The TWAIN driver was apparently installed with the HP installer, since I did not have to look for it.)
After placing pages in the Doc Feeder,  go to File Menu, Create - PDF from Scanner - Black and White Document. Watch the magic!
File size 768k!  Quality indistinguishable from the 27MB version, sharp and clear, all 27 pages! Really!
Using the HP software, using a lower resolution or sliding the file size slider to smaller makes a muddy scan, and the file  is still huge compared to the Acrobat technique. MUCH worse quality than the Acrobat 768k version.
Interestingly, using Acrobat to open the 27MB scan and "PRINT" it to the PDF Printer reduced the size to 10MB, with no change in appearance. "Save as smaller PDF" did not reduce the size further.
What gives, HP?? What can Acrobat do  to scan from your AIO that you can't do?
I tried on my Mac as well - we use both. No go. On Mac OSX 10.10.1 with latest HP drivers, Acrobat does not see any TWAIN or other driver from within the dialog box described above. Scanning from HP software again yields about 1MB per page.
Anyone know how to make Acrobat see the scanner on Mac?

    Hi @JosephWit ,
I see by your post that you are having issues with the PDF scanning size being too big. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.
The drivers for 10.10 are installed by the Apple Updates. Did you install the 10.9 drivers or are did up run the Apple Updates to install the printer?
Uninstall the 10.9 printer software and run the Apple Updates to install the proper drivers. Then you can scan with the Apple Software.
Connect the printer to the Mac by a USB cable and run the Apple Updates to install the printer drivers.
Go to the Apple, About this Mac, click on the Overview tab and select Software Updates.
Go to the Apple, Printers and Scanners, delete the USB drivers and disconnect the USB cable.
Then add the wireless printer as a Bonjour printer if the printer is networked.
Click on the + sign, highlight the printer, below beside Use: make sure just the printer name is listed. (you might have to click on the drop down to select your printer from the list)
Here is a document for Scanning in OS X v10.10 Yosemite Without HP Software.
If you are having issues with Adobe, run the updates. Product updates.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Windows 8.1: Scan to pdf with Epson WF 3520?

I previously ran an HP laptop and scanned multiple page documents to a single file in pdf format on Epson printers.
Recently I purchased a new laptop with Windows 8.1. Scanning to pdf no longer possible, and multiple sheets in the document feeder now emerge as individual png files. How can I get back to scanning to a single pdf?

    Hi,
Did you install the latest driver update? I found an FAQ at Epson official site that about Program Compatibility with Windows 8.1. You can take it as reference to upgrade printer driver:

  • Acrobat XI Pro, Surface Pro 128,  Scan to PDF not working

I just installed the trial version of Acrobat XI onto my Surface Pro and everything works except the Scan to PDF, when I hit any of the presets I get an error message that says: Box Title: Twain Data Source  Text In box: " Program was unable to load necessary component and its going to terminate. Please re-install your software." with an "OK" button.
When I hit "OK" button get error box title: "Adobe Acrobat",  Text in Box: "An unrecoverable error has occurred. Operation stopped.", with an "OK" button
Hit "Ok" Button and goes back to adobe startup screen.
This happens with Auto detect Color Mode, Black & White Document, Grayscale Document, Color Document, Color Image.
When I hit custom Scan, I get:
Box Title: Twain Data Source  Text In box: " Program was unable to load necessary component and its going to terminate. Please re-install your software." with an "OK" button.
When I hit "OK" button get error box title: "Adobe Acrobat",  Text in Box: "An unrecoverable error has occurred. Operation stopped.", with an "OK" button
When I hit "OK" i get a Custom Scan Box with the scanner,
when I hit Scan: I get  Box Title: Twain Data Source  Text In box: " Program was unable to load necessary component and its going to terminate. Please re-install your software." with an "OK" button.
Then the Native Scanner interface pops up and it scans the document and brings it up in Acrobat XI.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix, I would like to buy the license, but will not until I make sure it will work properly. The Scanner works fine with other applications. I have two different scanners installed and it does this with both.

I have the same problem only with Acrobat 9.5.5 (Windows 8 Pro 64 bit)
This error message appeared after I had a re-install. Twain is installed with "Neat" scanner and software. (Neat works.)
Have you been able to repair this problem?

  • Adobe 9 Black on White Document Scans to PDF Invert Black to White and vice versa! Not Good!

I have the same problem as TexasLawyer (Jul 30 2009) whose question was not answered nor was there any answer to a commenter who said he has the same problem ("I have an old HP LaserJet 3330 multifunction printer, and prefer scanning documents out of Adobe Acrobat rather than the software that came with the scanner.  However, after upgrading to Acrobat 9 Professional, the scans result in negative images.  I tried using the option in Acrobat to create negative images, hoping that that would result in a positive, but it didn't work. I'm using Windows XP, also.")
Me too. Except I am running XP as a virtual machine in a MAC (Snow Leopard). I "upgraded" to Acrobat 9 from a functioning Acrobat  6 (worked fine with my setup to make correct B&W pdf's from scanned B&W documents on the HP 3330 before I installed Adobe 9--I got updates immediately and am at version 9.1.3) butthe  Acrobat 9.1.3 scans on the HP 3300 invert white to black and black to white. The printer option box to invert black and white images was unchecked.  I checked it and ran the scan again but same result--white of paper document is black in pdf and black is white in pdf. I can scan the B on W document using grayscale and get B on W but the file is too large and unacceptable due to smudges picked up with gray scale.
Can't understand how so basic a use of Adobe is this messed up.This has to be a common problem since many many users scan black on white documents to pdf. Does anyone have a solution to this? It is critical in my profession.
Thanks in advance to you problem solvers out there that can solve this for me and hte others in my boat who search these forums looking for the answer to this issue.

I have an HP6010 scanner (sheet feed) that is used to scan multiple page documents. If I use the WIA scanner option I cannot select page size and the scanner defaults to legal size. On the other hand if I use the Twain driver I get negative images on my scans. I just installed Acrobat X Pro and the same thing is happening. I was using Acrobat 9. In fact in duplex mode the scanner outputs a negative image every other page, and a standard image on the alternate pages. Either way I am frustrated. I can't remember when the problem began, but I believe I was running XP SP2 and Acrobat 7 or 8.
Ironically, if I push the scan to PDF button on the scanner, which uses an HP utility, it comes out fine. All pages are in positive mode.
I did try scanning in color even though the document is black and white. I believe that the scan was fine. No negative images, but scanning in color is like watching the sun go down.
I thought it was Vista and System 7, then I was told that it had to be a scanner issue and that I needed to talk to HP. However, if the scanner functions properly on its own, with the HP utilities, then it has to be Acrobat.

  • After scanning my document and converting to Microsoft Word the size of characters are different

After scanning my document and converting to Microsoft Word the size of characters are different and things like puntuation are distorted. How do I get the uniformity like the original?

Of course what lands in the Word file will differ from the viewed picture/image of text created by the scanner.
(The output of all scanners is always an image file. For an image of textual content the best output file format is TIFF.)
So you scan the hardcopy of text.
The scanner output image (picture) is brought into PDF.
At this point the only PDF page content that you can export to Word is the image (nope, no "text" just the image).
Consequently you use Acrobat's OCR feature to do OCR of the image of text.
With a decent paper source, proper resolution and a black and white image you'll get acceptable accuracy of recognition of the pictures of the characters.
    (the Optical Character Recognition)
Acrobat's Searchable Image and Searchable Image (Exact) provides output that used text rendering mode 3 (no fill, no stroke for the glyphs).
    So, invsible / hidden text.
The third OCR method is ClearScan.
You could play with each of the three to see what goes into a Word file.
Might try export to RTF, DOC and DOCX as well.
Anyway -- What is exported is the OCR output; Not the image of text.
And, of course, the image of the text is not the imprint on the paper that was scanned.
Each step to the way you have some deviation.
Once you have the exported PDF content in a Word file you can use Word to cleanup as desired / needed.
    OR
Prop up the hardcopy and transcribe to a Word file.
    Be well...

  • Adobe Acrobat 11.0.06 Crashing after scan

    Hello
I am facing problems esp when using 'Create -> PDF from Scanner '
I am using Cannon MX472 multifunction printer and after it completes the scans I see the scanned pages for few brief second and then it crashes and I have to do the scan all over again.
I have apple computer with OS X 10.9.2 and also not able to find my printer when I select option ' TWAIN' in
Convert to PDF -> Scan -> Scan Driver but my printer shows up when I select ' image capture ' option.
This is really bugging me a lot as I have to scan many many documents during course of day and its double work for me.
Apart from adobe crashing all my scanned documents are coming out as grey when canned even when I select image adjustment to document.
Please advise how to fix this problem.
    Thanks
    Vishal

I tried these steps and it did not fix the problem I am having:
    > Remove any other instances of Acrobat if installed on the machine like previous version Acrobat 9/X Pro . (Since it may conflict the application.)
    > Make sure Acrobat is Updated till 11.0.06
    > Launch the Acrobat XI Pro
    > Go to Acrobat Icon on Finder and then Select the Preferences Option.
    > Under Categories : Go to Accessibility : And then under "Other Accessibility Options" -
Deselect the check box which says - "Enable assistive technology support"
I do not have these options:
    > Also under categories go to > Convert to Pdf > Used TWAIN first > Hit ok > Then close the Acrobat XI Pro and then relaunch the acrobat.
    > Again go to Preferences and under categories go to > Convert to Pdf then select the Image Capture and then hit Ok button.
    > Close acrobat and then relaunch it and see if it Helps you while you do scanning.
    > Would recommend you to check to Scan the pdf when the scanner is connected through wire.

  • What program can search old typewriter documents (1980) which are being scanned as PDF?

What program can search old typewriter documents (1980) which are being scanned into PDF's?

Scanned documents are just images, but using OCR on them will turn them into text documents.  Adobe Acrobat Pro can do that.  After saving the OCR-ed document, it will be searchable by any PDF viewer.

If you print the scans and they come out too small, it may be that you have a setting off when you scan it in.  To resolve this problem completely, you could simply make a copy instead.  But in order to assist you with this, I will need to know a lot more information.
    1.  What kind of printer do you have (Officejet 8600, Photosmart C6380, etc)?
    2.  What kind of computer do you have (Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OS 10.8, etc)?
    3.  What software/program are you using to scan (HP Scan, HP Solution Center, Paint, etc)?
    4.  What program are you using to print the scans (Windows Picture Viewer, Photoshop, etc)?
    5.  What is the file type of the scan (.pdf or .tiff)?
Make sure your scan size is equivelant to the page you are scanning, resolution is set to at least 600 dpi, the item type is set appropriately such as to document since photo will make the image smaller, and go to advanced settings to check file size is not set to "Smallest."
I hope that helps.   If not, I will need to you to answer the questions above please or I will not be able to help you.  However, I have provided all the necessary information above regarding an HP printer on a Windows PC using the HP Scan.
Let me know if I can be of any more assistance. I'm happy to help!
I have the same problem. I have a HP Photosmart 7525 printer and work with Windows 7. I just want to copy a photo and it keeps coming out much smaller. I just put the photo on the scanner plate in the corner, choose the copy icon, and out comes a small picture in the corner of my photo paper,.There must be a setting somewhere but I can't find it. Can anyone help me?

  • How do you move automatically to the next field of a form after scanning a barcode?

Hi, I have been playing around with a barcode scanner (by the way I dont have a clue) and I've converted a form into a PDF document. I'm trying to move to the next field after the data has been populated in a previous field automatically. I'm not sure if this is done within Adobe Acrobat it self or on the scanner.
The scanner has several different modes, TERMINATION CHAR - CR, TERMINATION - LF, TERMINATION CR+LF and DISABLED.
I believe one of them put a ENT after the data from a barcode and one of the others doesnt. Any ideas?

Are you using a handheld scanner and scanning the barcode on screen and wanting the focus to be in the next field after scanning the barcode?
Otherwise, I am not sure what you are asking. The scanner itself won't do this for you if you actively filling out a form. The field which receives the scanned data could have an exit event which has a setFocus method taking you to the field it specifies. (haven't tested this in a long time, so my presumption is once the data is received it will exit, but focus could remain. In that case, another event would be needed. However, A manual <TAB> will force an exit of the field, and the setFocus() function will excute taking you to the field specified in the method.

  • PowerPoint PDF Maker rotates pages

This is almost certainly a Microsoft Office issue.  But it only shows itself in PDF conversion, so I'm trying my luck here.
We have been using a process for several years, wherein every few months we repeat this cycle:
    1) Open a one-page PowerPoint file, save it with a new name, edit it and convert it to PDF.
    2) Open a PDF file, that already has links and check boxes on the first page.
    3) Replace that first page with the file we created in step 1.  This becomes the new "Contents" page in our PDF file.
This has worked fine for years, and still does, for those users who have PowerPoint XP/2003.  Now that a few of us have gotten up to PowerPoint 2007, the converted PDF file appears to be invisibly rotated.  It looks perfectly fine, and you'd never know there was a problem.  But, in step 3, when we replace the first page with the newly created PDF file, all of the existing links and checkboxes get rotated 90 degrees.
I've gone back to another PC that has PowerPoint 2003, and used that PDF maker to go through step 1.  That works fine, just as it always has.  So, it sures looks like there is something in PowerPoint 2007 that injects some sort of rotation attribute, telling Acrobat that the page is landscape when it should be portrait, or vice versa.
Are there any tools I can use to fix this?
Here are some specifics, in case they help:
         The PowerPoint file is 8" x 6.75".
We're using Acrobat 7 Professional, and also 9 Pro Extended.  Same issue regardless.  Also, it's not tied to one particular user's PC; 5 departments run through this same production cycle with their own version of the documents.  The same thing happens to each department.

I traced the problem down to a bitmap. When I tried to clip the bitmap, I got a message in Irfanview (graphics package) that the image could not be converted. When I chose edit drawing, I was able to clip the bitmap out and back into the document. Then PDF Maker was used with no problem after this copy process. The issue is really trying to trace down to the bad image or font (in this case an image), copy it and then reinsert the image. Was then able to apply PDF Maker.

I am unable to open my documents after scanning. I keep getting the message Adobe reader could not open because it is either not a supported file type or because the file is damaged, then it redirects me to a buya subcription Adobe reader XI. These documents are just regular standard 3 to 11 gray scale scans, nothing special. I just need my regulay Adobe reader to open A PDF file. Please help.

just to clarify, you're scanning a document and then you are saving that as a pdf file, correct?
in particular, you are not trying to add the scanned document to an already existing file (pdf or otherwise), correct?
if yes and yes and your reader and can that pdf ok, you have a scanner problem.  try updating your scanner's drivers.
