HP6100 printer ink issue

I have had this printer over a year, so it is not under warranty.  I have installed NUMEROUS replacement ink cartridges in this printer.  The other day I was printing shipping labels, and once again, I get a message on my monitor that my magenta cartridge is emply.  Because I do alot of printing, I always keep 1-2 spares here.  I removed the 'empty' cartridge, opened a new box and inserted a new cartridge.  All the light on the printer started flashing, and I get a message that I have either installed the cartridge incorrectly, the cartridge is missing, or it is not compatible with this printer!
Since this happened, I have tried everything to try to get it to work.
I've unplugged the printer and replugged it in
I've tried another new cartridge
I've restarted my computer
I've removed the cartridge numerous times and reinserted it,
and I have contacted HP for help.
Every time I send them a message, I get a different person replying, all with the same automated reply, we only service printers that are in warranty, and service ink cartridges only if they were purchased from the on-line store.  I purchase all my cartridges from their store.  I finally made a call to the Customer service dept and after going thru many receipts, I gave her order numbers that proved I purchased them from them.  She sent me 2 new cartridges!  BUT..these don't work either!!!!  the printer was working perfect till this blasted ink went dry.
Has anyone else had this problem and can you please tell me how to fix it?  I have several new cartridges here and spent a ton of money on them.  at this point, I have had it with HP and will NEVER buy an HP printer again!!!!!
Thank God I still have an old printer from years ago and I have never had a problem with it.  I just needed a spare..just in case,  like now.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

  • I have an S9000 printer ink issue

Just changed out the color cartridges.  Run the test and everything but the black is working.  Have run thru several testing pages in black ink only, and still no black.  The color basin reservoir has color.  This is a new cartridge and when I take it out and squeeze it, the sponge on the underside will change.
Any suggestions on how to get the black to work again?
I also ran the nozzel test and nothing came up as well.
    Thank you.

The first thing to check is if the vent is fully open. The vent is open when you tear off the plastic at the top of the cartridge. Sometimes it doesn't open completely and creates a vacuum inside the cartridge which prevents the ink from coming out. It could happen that you have a defective cartridge. Then try another cartridge. I haven't seen any genuine cartridges with defects, but third-party cartridges aren't as well built).
If you haven't used the printer in a while (especially in dry winter weather), you may have some dry ink in the printhead. Multiple head cleanings usually solve that.
If nothing work, some people have used a tiny bit of distilled water on the head to dissolve dried ink. I can't endorse this suggestion as it potentially could damage the head. But I've been known to do things like that as a last resort.

  • Unable to print PDF file in HP deskjet printer ink advantage 1515

Hi , currently i have difficulty in using my printer(HP deskjet  printer ink advantage 1515 ) to print PDF file, but Microsof word and powerpoint is ok,, so , any idea?

    You are welcome!
I have a few more suggestions for you to try that might help. You can try printing your PDF file by using another program, or you can try running the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results. If there was no issues detected, you can also try Uninstalling the Printer Software from the Control Panel, restarting your PC and reinstall the full driver here: HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515 All-in-One Printer
If the PDF's not printing was due to an issue with the printer software, the issue would be resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the printer. If the problem continues, try posting this issue in the Adobe Forums for further assistance.

    Windows 8.1: Printer Offline Issue
If you have seen issues where your laptops/tablets has been taken from a private (home) network to a public network  and then not been able to print when returning back to your private (home) network.  This is most likely due to the public network settings not being reset back to the private (home) network settings.  If this sounds like an issue you are having- try resetting your network settings by following the steps in the documents linked here:

    Hello All,
The printer goes offline due to proper driver is not installed correctly or if the printer port is not selected correctly.
I would suggest that you check the printer port (if the printer is connected via USB then chck if you have selected USB001,002... OR DOT), if the printer is connected via Network then check if the printer is selected via TCP/IP and then check the results.
Alternatively, you may uninstall and reinstall the driver and then check the results.

  • Printing Colour Issues - colour management settings

    Hi there
I've been having some serious printing problems recently when I print from InDesign CS5 and also from Acrobat when printing PDFs exported from InDesign.
All of the print out colours a wrong (such as Blacks printing as pink)
I have tried changing several settings, but nothing seems to be fixing it.
I've replaced all my inks and I can print fine when printing in other programs such as word, so its not an ink issue.
My printer is a Canon MP540
I'm using a Mac, on OS X Lion.
I think i'm using the default colour management settings, however could this possibly be the issue?- which settings might work?
I would REALLY APPRECIATE any help with this issue!
    Many Thanks

if I look at the same image in the default 'Preview' on Mac, the
colours look different to what I see in PS
First, that would clearly indicate your image does not have an embedded profile, or Ps is being told to ignore the embedded profile — Ps is applying a different profile (or it may have been dinked around with in its Edit> Color Settings> More Options> Advanced Controls).
It is best for most people not to dink around with Color Settings> More Options...to get back a Default starting point, just select a preset like North American Prepress 2.
I know there are a million posts and articles on this complex subject
You only need one good article to grasp the basic issues.
The short answer is you are either missing something in scenario One, or you are hitting a bug.
When Photoshop setups a correct SourceSpace-to-PrintSpace Conversion the Epson will print your file faithfully if your Source Color is within print gamut and your Print Space reflects an accurate ICC profile to the specific printer-paper-ink you are printing to.
I would recommend testing with a known good file like the download Photodisc PDI test image (so bad files don't confuse the process)...

  • Epson 960 works well but can't access printer ink utility

I set up an Airport Express wireless network last night and hooked up my Epson 960. It works well but I can't access the printer ink utility. The printer is missing from the utility listing so I can't clean the heads or check ink levels.
Any suggestions or experiences that may help?
    Thanks!

Thanks, that was what I was having to do.
It is kind of misleading to claim wireless printing capability only to have one way communication. Hopefully Apple will "fix" this issue in the future.
Makes it very inconvenient when printing photos or DVDs as I always do a nozzle check first to make sure nothing is clogged and keep from wasting a good (and expensive) sheet of photo paper or a burned DVD.
    Cheers,
    Bob

    1) right out of the box it was showing a "startup routine ink alert" warning that "cartridges might not have enough ink to complete startup"

  • Printer ink drying up. Officejet 4500 wireless

I have a Officejet 4500 Wireless printer.  I am a snowbird and vacation in Arizona.  Upon my return the printer ink has dried up.  Is there a solution to this problem?  Is there a different printer that does not let the ink dry up?

    Hi @HarveyAZ
The good thing about the ink system in your Officejet 4500, is that the printhead is intergrated into the cartridge. You do not have to worry about both a printhead and the cartridge.
    I can't say there is a printer that does not let the ink dry up, but here is some helpful information;
    Storing and Handling Ink Cartridges
    Storing Opened Cartridges and Printheads
I hope this helps.    Safe travels!

  • Ink issue

i have an all in one printer, mostly happy with it.  however, notified black ink empty so i installed a new one.  then notified yellow was empty, still can't print.  bought and installed yellow.  tried to print again, but alas cyan and magenta notifications that they are empty.  (haven't been able to print since the black cartridge notification came in).  now these are replaced.  hopefully i'll be able to print now.  fyi, i had to wait days for mail delivery of ink, and for some i drove to the office supply, which had to order the ink.   in the meantime, i really only want to print black and white, but the printer will not function without the colored ink!  even though i don't want to use color!   each cartridge of ink now full, and they together cost more than the printer did in the first place!  seems like a racket to me.

  • Print quality issues

    Hello
We are having print quality issue when printing PDF's to our Canon iR C2880/C3380 UFR II.  This was the most recent print driver from canons website which was download about 6 weeks ago. version 2.9.  At one time we were having other pring quality issues and we changed from the post script driver to the ufr ii which solved the problem at the time.
This past saturday we upgrade the operating systems on the systems in question and they are now running windows 7 64 bit with service pack 1 installed. image 1 is the orignal pdf that was printed with a 3rd party pdf printer(PDF Xchange view version 2.5)  image 2 is the same document that was printed using acrobat reader 10.1.2
the options for the print were pretty much identical between the program.  Print as image was not selected.  1 thing to note with the acrobat when  print as image was selected there was a slight improvement in the print quality.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hi, nd a warm welcome to the forums!
Off the bat, it looks like maybe bad RAM/ROM in the Printer, or corrupt Font.
Can you have another Computer jook to it and print for a test?
Can you try Printing from Adobe Reader...

My setup: iMac hardline to Canon i960 printer. Issue: endless printing of the same document. The printer window states that the pinter is in use and there is nothing listed in the Print Queue.  How can I stop printing the document?

Soution: Delete the printer and add the same printer back in, therefore creating a new print queue.

  • Just upgraded to Mavericks and my HP6100 printer no longer works, when I try to reload the software it says PowerPC apps no longer supported.  Is there a way to use my HP6100 Printer with Mavericks?

Just upgraded my 2009 iMac (3.06 Ghz, core 2 duo $GB 1067 Mhz DDR3) to Mavericks OSX 10.9.5 and my HP6100 printer no longer works, when I try to reload the software it says PowerPC apps no longer supported.  Printer says the software was improperly installed. Is there a way to use my HP6100 Printer with Mavericks or do I need to go back to Mountain Lion or Snow Leopard?

It's not clear whether your printer is included in the Apple list - there is an Officejet 6100 and a couple of other types. Go to the page linked to above and use the browser search for 6100.
I'm afraid HP are notorious for not supporting older printers - I had the same problem. Probably they hope you will buy another printer (I did, but it was a Canon). I did look on HP's site and couldn't see a driver - you could give it a try (make sure you have the exactly correct printer name):
    http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/support-search.html?tab=1#/qryterm=HP6100&search_search type=s-002
Alternatively ou could try Gutenprint (open source software):
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
I found it would indeed drive the printer, but the colour dithering wasn't very satisfactory and the duplex printing bolt-on wouldn't work. However as Gutenprint is free it's worth trying to see if it's any good for you.

  • Unable to check HP printer ink levels via Supply Levels

I've got an HP Photosmart 8450 printer, and so far no printing problems with 10.5.1. However, I can't check ink levels in the printer via the "Supply Levels" window, and I can't find another way to see this information. I'm using the printer driver supplied with 10.5.1.
This information was available under 10.4.11 - is there a way to obtain printer ink levels in 10.5.1?

I loaded mine from the 10.5.1 disk, but it's a separate operation from the main install. There's an optional install folder on the 10.5.1 disk with the info.
Load the system disk for your iMac and look at it in the Finder to see if there's a similar optional install folder. Then, there's always the HP website if you can find the driver there . . .
Regarding how you've got the 8450 printer set up, why not put the printer directly on the (ethernet?) hub rather than hanging it off the Vista laptop? There's an Ethernet port on that printer, and that's one of the reasons I picked that model. Your iMac probably can't see the printer the way you've configured things. Bonjour will be able to find the printer and get you hooked up with the printer directly on the hub.

  • Hp Color Laser Jet 5550dn Print Quality Issues

    Good Afternoon,
I have a Hp Color Laser Jet 5550dn that has some print quality issue.  I've attached a black and white scan, but the color is a light blue to blue that form the blotches.  On the back of the page there are blue and pink streaks.
I can print more sample pages or print them in color, but anyone have any idea what could be going on here?

We are encountering a similar problem. The streaking is coming fromt the Cyan cartridge and has continued for over a year now, despite numerous cartridge changes and replacing the transfrer case. It is progressively getting worse and I have yet to find a solution to this problem online. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
