Hpe 140f pc shuts down. unable to save important files to dvd. cleaned out dust, no improvement.

My desktop HPE 140f shut down two days ago.  It will start up again (with the safe mode option screen) but shuts down again before I can finish saving important files to DVD.  I recently re-installed Java.  No clue.

Is the CPU cooling fan running?
Try starting it up again and checking to see if the northbridge and southbridge chips are pretty warm.
Try disconnecting the hard disk and then trying a startup. The PC will complain that it can't find a bootable OS, but it should continue to stay on.

Photoshop CS6 continually shuts down on me when I go to save a file I am working on. I work primarily in this software, and this continual shut down happens at least 10+ times a day. Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Does that happen with that file only or with any other files as well?
Did you try to create a new file and save it?

  • Shuts down when I save any file big or small

I have Adobe CS5 and run it on a MacBookPro and recently AI started shutting down when I try to save a file. I tried to create a small mock file to save and it did the same thing. SO no matter the size of the file it just shuts down. I also restarted my computer and made sure I had nothing else open and it still does the same thing. Need Help, can't finish my work with out it!!!

So...I deleted all printers attached to my computer thru the server and it still wouldn't let me save as an ai. file. But I tried to save as an .eps file and it let me. Before it wouldn't let me save matter the extension. Would you have an idea why it wouldn't save the ai. file and shut down?

  • Help everytime I shut down or restart my computer my internet service goes out!!!

I have a desktop HP Pavilion Intel Core Quad
its Windows 7 and my internet service provider is Time Warner.
It is not a wireless connection.
For a few days now everytime I shut down or restart my computer my internet service goes out and I am unable to access the intenet. I get the error message "unidentified network no internet access"  I do not even want to shut off my computer for fear of losing the internet access. The most recent time this has happened I called my ISP to reset my connection. I have never had to do this before so I am not sure whay is going on?
Anyone have any insight or ideas to fix this?

Your PC won't automatically choose a public network since your PC is not autonomous.
If you are using  wired CAT5 connection, then your network is whatever internal adress the internet modem or router has provided. If the only thing your PC is connected to is your Time Warner router then the identified network comes from the router.

  • Unable to save indt files at all

Hi, I've looked through the forums but haven't found a solution that's worked or the quite the same problem as I have, so here it goes:
I have InDesign CS6 version 8.0.1 with Windows 7 64-bit however I have been unable to save .indt files sent to me from a couple different sources.
When opening the file I also get the warning message saying I'm missing the "LILO.InDesignPlugin" but the template still seems to open no problem.
However, when I click 'Save', 'Save As', or even 'Save a Copy' nothing happens. None of them are greyed out, but no window pops-up for me to save the file, even if I make changes.
I tried exporting the file as anything else but nothing works--I get the "Failed to export the PDF file" message every time.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this?
    Thanks for the help!

When opening the file I also get the warning message saying I'm missing the "LILO.InDesignPlugin" but the template still seems to open no problem.
Your InDesign installation is clearly corrupt. Uninstall and reinstall.
It may be sufficient to rerun the installation without uninstalling, but it might not.

  • Help!! - "The HP Scan Application was unable to save the file to the specified location."

New OJ6830, latest HP software installed on Win7 64 bit.
HP Scan scans and displays the scanned pages.  But, when I try to save the file as a pdf or tiff, I get the following error message:
"The HP Scan Application was unable to save the file to the specified location."
BTW, I have tried running the app as Administrator and have disabled my antivirus software.
Why won't the HP scan app save the file?  Has anyone else seen this error message?
Is there anything else I can do, or this this just a major bug in HP scan software?

    Mike,
    One Idea:
Make sure you have "San Preview" checked else the software will not accept "specified location".
    Reference:
    Save Scan to Specified Location

  • SpaceFM Error - Error: Unable to save session file. Permission denied

    Hi.
I have just installed linux-rt from AUR
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=51360
Everything installed correctly and is working so far.
It's just that whenever I'm with a folder open (even if I dont do anything) and click the X to close the window, this error appears:
    SpaceFM Error
Error: Unable to save session file.
Do you want to exit without saving?
    ( Permission denied )
I usually click yes and nothing happens - or seems to.
If it helps, I AM able to read, write, copy and delete files.
The problem ( I THINK ) seems to be just aesthetics AND/OR not affecting me at the moment?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.
EDIT: In fact LOTS of issues just showed up...
    1- Transmission doesn't resume downloads.
I closed it and opened again and there were no downloads and when I tried to start them again, there was an error saying: Unable to save resume file (or something close)
2- I just logged in (at the login screen, lol) as root and ALL problems disappeared, transmission saves things again, no more SpaceFM error etc.
Anyone has any clues what is this permissions problem ?? The whole OS is new and I didn't install anything, it wasn't supposed to be happening.

Just stumbled on this, dunno about your other problems, but as far as your spacefm problem, go to ~/.config and sudo rm -r spacefm

  • "The HP scan application was unable to save the file to the specified location. "

I can copy and print from my computer but when I try to save the scan I get an error message saying the HP app was unable to save the file to the specified location. I reloaded the cd and that did not help.

Hello jerlip,  Welcome to the HP Forums.  I see that you are having an issue when attempting to save a scan. I suggest that we try running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  If you see any error codes or messages, please let me know what they are. Write me back when you have time and I will be happy to research other options if needed.  Cheers,

  • AI shutting down when I save files...

Not sure if anyone here may be able to help with this problem, but I'll try..
I recently replaced some of my PC hardware and had to reinstall Windows and CS3 etc. Ever since, Illustrator seems to be able to work fine when I start a new document and save it. However, if I even just open any document I created before I reinstalled and then try to save a file in AI (new or old), I get an error message telling me "Illustrator has encountered a problem and needs to be shut down."
I've tried Saving As under a different name/file type, copying/pasting content from the old document into a new one - doesn't work. Just opening any old file makes this error come up when I save.
Every other program in CS3 seems fine - only Illustrator has given me this problem.
    Any help??

I never had a printer.. I installed a scanner recently but this was happening before that so I don't think that's it.
I tried reinstalling Illustrator as well but it didn't help.
How would I reinstate everything back to the way it was? I assume reinstalling it would've done that?
Someone else told me it might have something to do with scripting? Does that make any sense??

  • IPhone random shut down- unable to restart

    Hi
since i have upgraded to os 3.1, my iphone has "shut down" 3 times and been unable to turn on the phone unless i hold the home and sleep/wake button. I say "shut down" because i don't know if it does shut down. There is another post that says its a bug or something. I just want to to if this is a bug or something else. Heres a link to the topic: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10235780&#10235780 .

Have you found any answers...The only one I found was that Safari had open windows close them on a blank page because someone said it will keep trying to update even when Safari is closed. I still can find out why it crashes and shuts down in the middle of reading e-mail or another application and then battery level changes dramatically upon restart.

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes and has to shut down, doesn't save Sequences?

I have recently bought Create Cloud and with it installed Premiere Pro CC and other programs such as Photoshop, Lightroom, etc... I was editing a movie a few days ago and then a message popped up saying that Premiere Pro CC has crashed and is forced to now shut down (it does it automatically). When opened again the sequences are not saved, same with the imports, and this kept happening at least 3-4 more times. So I uninstalled Premiere Pro CC and installed it again, but it just happened again. What do I do?

  • Flickering screen, sudden shut downs, unable to boot

I have had my T61 for a year now and I have had several problems which were sometimes fixed when I sent the unit out. The laptop has developed new issues. When I boot the laptop, the screen is all messed up, it flickers and shuts down . I try to reboot but doesn't happen so I try several times to remove the battery, re-insert it, remove the AC Adapter and also re-insert it. This works sometimes and the system boots until the sign in page where the screen flickers again (several lines on screen and can hardly see anything) and eventually shuts down again. Sometimes it boots all the way and while am working on the laptop, those wierd lines appear on the screen and it freezes for a minute and shuts down.  And also I dont hear anything from the speakers. This is really frustrating
I apreciate any help with this issue.

Can you boot to the BIOS? If yes, it sounds like an OS issue (or maybe hard drive);  if not, sounds like a hardware issue (which usually means motherboard).

  • Unable to save edited files

    Hello Group,
Has anyone experienced this problem?? We have had this
problem 2 times, and it seems related to after a Windows automatic
update as run. Platform is an HP laptop, running windows XP.
We have several *.cp files. We open one file, and delete an
audio track from a slide, and then attempt to save the edited file.
The edited file will not save. For some reason Captivate
still sees the "different" file name as the same name as previous
file. The edit is not saved. We even created a new folder on the
C:\ drive, and copy a file in, open it, or attempt to open an
edited file that somehow got saved, and then Captivate say "this
file is in a format that captivate does not recogize"
Has anyone else seen something like this?
captivate seems to work ok on my desktop pc, but not the
laptop??? Perhaps it is some sort of problem with the laptop
    Thanks,
    eholz1

I was wondering if either of you have had any luck nailing
down this problem. We are experiencing it on one of our laptops as
well and I have been baffled by it.
The laptop is a Dell with XP SP2, it was running Captivate
1.0.1 for a while and was upgrade to Captivate 2.0 without removing
Captivate 1. This configuration has worked for months, but suddenly
I can't save anything. If you hit save the hourglass pops up and
goes away with no error messages, but the * in the titlebar
indicating unsaved changes is still there and when I try to close
it asks to save. If I say no or cancel it acts properly, but if I
hit yes to save it, is just goes back to Captivate and doesn't
close or save. Save As will save a file, but it is usually corrupt
when I try to open it later, and the * still doesn't go away.
I have gone so far as to run ProcessMonitor from Sysinternals
but it doesn't show any errors. It doesn't even show that it is
trying to save it. If there are any patches or updates for
Captivate 2 I have been unable to find them on Adobe's site.
