HPE 490t Desktop

I have a HPE 490t desktop that i would like to upgrade Graphics card and memory. i am pretty sure of needed memory but cannot find a Graphics card that i am sure will work and will be the best/fastest one possible for my unit.
I can use any possible help as i am one who normally just turns on and not good at these things.
I did read it is a i7processor with motherboard model: 2A86. It is probably about 4 years old.
Thanks,

Hi,
The BIOS level of your four (4) year old PC is going to limit your graphics card choices along with the 460 watt power supply.  The specifications for your PC are listed here and several graphics cards are listed.  The NVIDIA 460 is probably your best choice.
Review this posted article.  Open up your PC and do some measuring.  Do you have room for a double wide card?

    Hi jackie,
I have the same motherboard in my HP e9280t.  I have never seen HP post SLI or Crossfire support for any of the main line PCs.
SLI or Crossfire may not improve the performance of your application. Even a dedicated NVIDIA Physx card may or may not help.  You might want to do some research.

  • Cannot install windows 7 service pack 1 on my HPE-400z desktop

I have an HP  hpe-400z desktop pc.  It is running windows 7 home premium operating system.   Ever since Windows 7 SP1 came out, my pc has been trying to install it.  Every time it tries to install, during the boot process the install fails and the system reverts back to original settings.  I get the error message E_FAIL  (0x80004005).  I have tried letting the automatic updater install this sp1 and I have also downloaded it, running the update, and then the same thing happens.  I have tried it without my security software running and get the same result.   This has been going on for so long now that I do not even bother to watch my machine boot up,- I know it is going to boot twice due to the failure of installing sp1.  Please help!

I would suggest you download the Win 7 Readiness Tool (see list of OS versions) located here
The System Update Readiness Tool can help fix problems that might prevent Windows updates and service packs from installing. For example, an update might not install if a damaged system file prevents the update from recognizing the version of Windows that's running on your computer.
If your computer is having problems installing an update or a service pack, download and install the tool, which runs automatically. Then, try installing the update or service pack again.

  • HPE 490t refresh

My HPE 490t has 2 x 1.5 GB system disks, in RAID 1 configuration
managed by Intel Rapid Storage Technology.
The computing power of this machine is more than
adequate for my needs but the disk space & performance
aren't.  I have also had a few incidents that suggest
it might be time to think about replacing those spinning
disks - they've been running continuously for nearly 4
    years.
I was planning on moving Windows to an SSD, & swapping
the disks.  Any caveats?  What about using 2x 4 TB drives
as replacement disks instead of 1.5 TB?  Will the Intel
product mirror 4 TB drives?  It warns against using volumes
greater than 2 TB as "system" drives, but doesn't seem to
explain what "system" means - I think the 2 TB limitation
is for the partition Windows boots & runs on & is inherent
    in Windows 7, but there's a good chance I don't have that
    right.  Any advice/experience appreciated.

    Cecinit, welcome to the forum.
If you ever use a SSD you will never go back to a disk drive.  As you can see in my signature, I installed a Samsung 840 EVO 500 GB, SSD, in my HP computer.  I had to use an adapter to install the 2.5"  SSD in a 3.5" drive bay.  It was an easy task using Samsung's Data Migration software.  I left the hard drive installed as it was when I bought the computer.  Then, connected the SSD to a spare SATA port in the computer and cloned the HDD onto the SSD.  Using Samsung's software made it easy, as I said.  Once the HDD was cloned, I disconnected the HDD and booted to the SSD.  It worked the first time.
As for replacing the HDD's, the maximum hard drive supported by Win 7 is 2 TB for the boot drive.  Here is what you have to do to use a 4 TB hard drive with Win 7:  In order to use a drive larger than 2 TB, you will need an operating system that can partition and format that drive. Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP (64-bit), Mac OSX 10.4.x (Tiger), Mac OSX 10.5.x (Leopard), Mac OSX 10.6.x (Snow Leopard), and Mac OSX 10.7.x (Lion) all have this capability through the GUID Partitioning Table (GPT). The GUID partitioning scheme has the ability to partition both internal and external drives far beyond 2 TB's in size.

  • HPE-490t Graphics Card Upgrade

Hello! I currently have an HPE-490t that was built in December of 2011. Here are the specs:
    -Intel(R)Core(TM)i7-980X six-core Extreme Edition [3.33 GHz, 1.5MB L2 + 12MB L3 shared cache]
-Motherboard is a Pegatron, PN: 612503-002
    -16GB DDR3 - 1066MHz SDRAM [4 DIMMs]
    -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 1GB
    -460W PSU
I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card. The GTX 460 is a PCI-e 2.0 x16. I'm looking to upgrade to a GTX 660ti or 660. The PSU would be able to handle the power draw and I believe the card would fit the board but would this motherboard support the GTX 600 series' PCIe 3.0?

Strange as the download was not on this unit's driver/software page, but the newest version I could find was here.  It says it's an update, but it is the full version as I was able to install it on a system that did not have this program installed.
To answer your question, it is not necessary to update the Hardware Diagnostics when a hardware component is changed.
Based on this thread, it looks like the specific error you are receiving can be caused by any number or programs.  Is Hardware Diagnostics the only one that is exhibiting an issue?  The accepted answer in the linked thread is that the profile was at fault and it provided a few suggestion on what to try next.  I would start with uninstalling and reinstalling Hardware Diagnostics from the link provided.
If you wanted to, you could use Vision Diagnostics (how to use it is at the bottom of the document) found here.  It isn't quite as convenient as other forms as this is a bootable CD and is not executable within Windows.  However, it is a more complete diagnostics package in my experience.

  • Remote HP Pavilion Elite HPE 020be Desktop PC

    hi,
after installed windows 8 on my pc (HP Pavilion Elite HPE 020be), my remote (rc1804904/06 - P/N 5070-2586) stopped working.
is there any way to fix this issue? i already tried to install the HP Remote Solution software, but no change.
    thanks.

    Hello @lockstock,
I understand that after updating your operating system to your HP Pavilion Elite HPE 020be Desktop PC to Windows 8 your HP Remote will not work and you require assistance. According to the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-020be Desktop PC Drivers page there are no drivers for your computer running Windows 8. Part of what you should expect when upgrading your operating system to one that may not be fully supported it the loss of some functionality. I suspect that this is what you are facing currently with your remote. There are no drivers for your computer so the remote is sending the signals, but the hardware on your computer has no way to receive it or if it does to enterpret it correctly.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

    Hi:
    See if this works...
Download the drivers from this link below (first or second file listed -- 32 or 64 bit as applicable).
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&keyword=Intel+Rapi...
Copy the files onto a usb flash drive without any folders.
With the flash drive and W7 installation media plugged into the machine, boot from the W7 installation media.
After you select the install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option.
You should now see the storage driver files listed.
If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.
Follow the prompts and hopefully, W7 will install.

Now I have purchased a new HP Envy 700-019 windows 8 64 bit desktop, still in the box and not set up yet, is there any way I can install Microsoft works task Launcher onto my new desktop without a disc. I have the recovery discs but no disc just for Microsoft works task Launcher.

you can put MS works on your windows 8 system. you just need a MS works disc.

  • Hpe 400 f freezes

I have an HPE 400f desktop. I am running Windows 7. My screen freezes a lot. The PC does not respond to the keyboard or mouse. I do get an error message that display driver AMD is not responding. Sometimes it responds on it's own, and some times nothing....and i have to hard reboot the PC. Any suggestions?

Since the issue is specific to your original user account, you can proceed in two ways. One is to log into your new account, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything on that other account's list from the original account's Preferences folder into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.

I am from Canada so not sure if the serial # and product # is different to what would show in the USA but hope this info helps. I really do not like windows 8, we purchased a notebook earlier this year and came with a 2 year warranty which I really like but a lot of the programs that I use often are not included in windows 8, I like windows media player, media center, Microsoft office task manager, these items are an upgrade in windows 8.
I only use it for home use but not sure how long Microsoft is going to support windows 7 or I would just upgrade my home premium, I am hopeing to keep the system current as being retired cannot repurchase every 2 or 3 years, printers are pretty cheap to purchase and the one I purchased at the same time photosmart plus B209a is still going strong but my new 7510e has been a nightmare.I do not do gaming on my computer but like to do photo's and other projects and want lots of room and speed which is the reason for  the 1 TB HD.
Considering how long Windows XP was supported, I can safely say that Windows 7 will be around and supported by Microsoft for a number of years to come.
There are no Windows 8 driver on the web support portal in the driver download section for your   Pavilion Elite HPE-150f  desktop PC.  That should be a prime consideration in the upgrade or replace decision. Your current system is fine, but given the fact that it is from the 2009 models, for safety of data and your peace of mind, I recommend upgrading it within a year. Four to five years for a home PC is a reasonable product lifecycle expectation.  After that It may or may not run as expected. It would be also a good idea to save your photos to an external disk. If you buy a new PC with Windows 8 Pro as the operating system, then Media Center is included in the purchase.
The media center upgrade for the notebook running Windows 8 is relatively inexpensive, but not free. You can download and use the Microsoft Office 2013 starter version for free. It is the replacement for Microsoft Works.

    Hi,
You can check from Device Manager to see the existing HDD (brand and model) then go out to buy same brand with bigger (capacity) and faster (big cache, fater RPM). You can evan use hybrid HDD to enjoy a bit faster.

  • SATA 3 (6Gb/s) support on an HPE-570t.

I just bought an HPE-570t desktop and would like to add an Intel 510 SSD as a boot drive.
I understand the motherboard in my new PC is a Petagron (Cleveland) with an Intel H67 chipset and that this chipset supports up to two SATA 3 (6Gb/s) and four SATA 2 (3Gb/s) ports.
    Two quick questions:
    1. Are any of the 4 SATA ports on my motherboard SATA 3? If so, which?
