HPE-555sc + HDMI ?

I have a HPE-555sc, and I´ve used a monitor with a HDMI port but inorder to conect it to the computer I´ve been using a HDMI-USB3 addapter. The computer has a HDMI port but I can't get it to work. If i plug in a screen in the HDMI the computer can't seem to find it. Anyone got any ideas on how to make it work?
BTW, the computer uses Windows-7 64bit if that makes any difference.

Hi Arthey:
Thank you for your inquiry.
I understand you are having some issues with the HDMI on the computer.
I am sending you a link to a document on "Monitor / Video / Graphics" click here
Please refer to the Monitor /Display section.
I am also including one on "Connecting Monitors and TVs to Your PC (Windows 7)" click here
I hope this helps.

  • Installing Windows 7 on SSD

    Hello
I have a problem with my HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 555sc. I`m trying to install windows 7 on the SSD through recovery disks I ordered from the HP support page. This dosen`t work to the SSD, so i tried doing it to my HDD last night. When the install is done, it does not boot the OS, i just start up with a crash message that there is something wrong with windows, and I should try to choose fix my computer in one of the options in the recovery disk, but I only got the choice installing it again. Tried that, and got the same error.
I have also tried to reinstall to the SSD, by using a different recovery disk. I downloaded and iso. file from microsoft and createt the disk my self, but this version does not support the cd-key I have for my windows. But the biggest problem is that after the install, there seems to be something wrong with the system in general, first of all I don`t have the right drivers installed, which should be an easy fix, after downloading and installing the right ones (Yes I have tried all of them) and restart, the mouse clicker is only active if I press icons on the desktop, but I can`t for example close the page with the mouse nor can I click on the start button. ( I have also tried two other mouses) The keyboard seems to work ok but I there is a few issues with it, but eventually it works.
Is it possible to install the recovery (using f11) to my SSD? I haven`t tried this yet, because I`m not sure it works, and if I now have installed win 7 on the SSD (the one that can not be activated because of the key) Will that effect the recovery if I have to do it to the HDD? And last could there be something other that is wrong? So reinstall dosen`t work at all?
    Thanks
    Best Regards Kristian

Thank you for the additional information.
The best situation for you is to get your computer to work with the System Recovery disks.  Finding the drivers is possible, but not always easy when installing a full version of Windows.
Before going any farther, I suggest that you run the SMART test from the BIOS.  This will tell you if your heard drive is working properly.
Here is the System Recovery / Backup / Restore page for the computer.  There are a lot of guides to help you.
If the above guides don't help, here is a guide to help you format the hard drive if you use Option 2.  Read it thoroughly.  This will be like starting with a new hard drive.  Once the drive is formatted, you can install Disk 1 of the Recovery disks and reboot.

  • New video card for HP Pavillion Elite HPE-170t

Hi, I'm starting to get some screen artifacts sporadically, Ithink my video card is starting to go bad. i want to get a new one, but I am not sure what will fit. My computer  HP Pavillion Elite HPE-170t:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-860 quad-core processor [2.8GHz, 1MB L2 + 8MB shared L3 cache]
    8GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM
    1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
1GB ATI Radeon HD 4850 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters]
    Lightscribe SuperMulti DVD burner
15-in-1 memory card reader, 1 USB, 1394, audio
    No TV Tuner
    Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
I see by some other questions here several video cards suggested, but those replies were a few years old and those video cards are no longer available.
So, any suggestions on newer video cards under $200 that will pretty much fit and work as easily as possible? Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.  I don't have another monitor to try, but the artifacts seem to sometimes move along with the mouse cursor. Sometimes I can scrill the artifacts away, other times the screen freezes.
I do have room for a double width card,  but I was looking at the XFX R7 250E 800MHz 1GB DDR5 DP HDMI DVI Graphics Card, which seems to be a newer model of the XFX AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 . Both are single wide and don't need an extra power connection.

I am trying to upgrade my graphics card.  I recently purchased a  Zotac GeForce GTX 760 AMP Edition 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 DVI HDMI DisplayPort SLI Ready Graphics ...  .  I also installed the above mentioned power supply.  I installed both and when I went to start the computer, I got the HP logo blue screen with a message saying to press ESC key for start up menu, however the keyboard was unresponsive.   I updated the bios to this using this link  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=cp-114777-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
The hp logo screen changed but that was about it.  Using the new card, I could get to the first boot screen, and to the hp logo, but then it would stay stuck on the hp logo.  Also if I tried to press f10, ctrl + f or any key, I would just get a black screen and nothing would happen.  I've read that this seems to be a common problem with the HPE models and the 700 series cards and have seen no solution.  I have already arranged to return the card figuring it's either defective or not compatible with my system.
So after all that, I've tried for the last hour to get a list of compatible graphics cards to upgrade my system, and have not found such a list.  I've found lists in the forums for other similar models, but I want to be absolutly sure before I make another purchase and have to go through all this trouble.
Any help would be appreciated and if more info is needed don't hesitate to let me know.

    Hi,
There are graphics card solutions posted on this forum. They may be hard ro find but they are psoted.  It's good that you checked the BIOS settings in the posted HP links as sometimes they get changed thinking that this will work better. However,  in the case for Windows 7 it's just the opposite.
You issue is not a driver problem. Check with the graphics card manufacturer for a remedy. If that particular card is video BIOS enabled for UEFI then you are stuck. You can either return the card or install Windows 8 in UEFI mode.
Another choice would be to try one of the below video cards that run in legacy or UEFI mode.

Hello, I just got a pavilion HPE, 2nd hand from a trusted source  The device came with a Geforce GT 260 (comes with a DVI and HDMI connection). I was trying to connect 2 screens, and there seems to be no signal from the HDMI connection. Is there any chance that this is not a hardware (display adapter/cable) problem? as far as I know all the drivers have been installed... Thanks! -Amit

  • Video cards with 2 dvi output ports compatiable with hpe h8-1234

I need a video card that will support 2 dvi monitors and be compatiable with a hpe h8-1234  desktop.  Please help

    Hi,
The current video card in your PC will support two DVI monitors. Just use a HDMI to DVI cable with one of the monitors. Your video connection possibilities are: one analog DVI monitor and one digital monitor or two DVI digital monitors.  For best results use two digital monitors.

  • Audio Options on HPE-210y

I am using my HPE-210y (Windows 7 Home Premium) with a Silicon Dust HD TV tuner.  I have the HDMI port on the computer connected to my HD Tv.  I have the Optical Audio Out on the computer connected to my Home Theater.  This allows the TV and DVD video from the computer to be shown and heard on the TV and it uses the speakers on the TV, which is fine for 95% of the time.  When I want to use the home theater sound I have to go to the "Manage Audio Devices" in the control panel and set the Digial Output to default and vice versa when switching back to HDMI output.
Prior to this setup, when I had Cable, I did a similar audio config with the Cable DVR Box and both audio's (TV and Home Theater) would always be on.  I would just mute one of the other.  This is what I would like to have with my PC set-up.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks.

  • HP2311x Goes blank/black when connected to my hp Pavilion HPE

Last month, my monitor started to go blank periodically and with increasing frequency. The system setup is:
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
    GeForce GT 530 video card
    8 Gb RAM
    Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
    I have:
    Cleaned the video card
Upgraded to the lastest GeForce driver
    Updated the monitor driver
    Factory reset the monitor
Changed the connector wire from DVI to HDMI
Connected another monitor to the HP Pavilion (works fine)
Connected the HP 2311x monitor to my Chromebook using HDMI (works fine)
Connected the monitor to my son's laptop (works fine)
The only time that the monitor goes blank/black periodically is when it is connected to the HP Pavilion HPE. A new monitor may solve the problem but as the monitor works with other computers I do not think that it is dead yet.
From the actions of the monitor it seems to switch off and then back on again.
Any ideas as to what to do to fix the issue?

  • A little help for HDMI sound output.

I have an HP Pavilion HPE Series.  Pavilion H8-1214 PC
I bought an HDMI cord several months back, to hook up my TV as a second monitor (like for watching movies) and worked fine for some time up until last night when when I tried to update my drivers (like graphics) since it seemed like on certain sites or games it was slow or unresponsive (like facebook games).  Now I can't get the audio to work for my TV (the HDMI output) as you can see in the screen shot I took.
    http://puu.sh/9SZOT/ab1c31984d.png
I have tried returning to an older restore point - that helped temporarily until I turned my computer on today and realized I still had that problem.  I have tried uninstalling that particular driver and reinstalling it - doesn't help, tried disabling and re-enabling - doesn't help.
The only way it seems to work is when I turn the TV on first and then restart my PC, but that is kind of a hassle since when I want to watch a show or movie I have to restart instead of just turning it on and setting TV as "default device" in "Playback Devices" like I did before.
Is there a way to fix this?  Please help.  Thanks in advance.

  • Multiple Monitor Setup for HPE-180t w/ NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 (only one DVI port)

I am wanting to connect mutliple montitors via DVI connection to my HPE-180t.  My graphics card is the NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 which has 3 ports (VGA, HDMI, DVI) and does support mutli monitor display.  What is the best way for me to connect multiple monitors to my desktop?  I would like for all of them to be connected via DVI.
    Thank you so much,
    Angela

    new computer: HPE-180t, Windows 7 Pro (64bit), Nvidia GeForce GT 220, Intel Core i7-930 quad-core CPU @ 2.80 GHz, 8GB of RAM

What is the end goal you are attempting to acheive?  Are you looking to clone all three monitors or each monitor to be independent of the other (extended display)?
This document covers how to configure the monitors in Windows 7.  I didn't see the GT 220 listed in the specifications, so I take it this is one purchased separately for the unit.  Most video cards require multiple monitors to be connected to a different port (to truly achieve a multiple monitor setup).  Since the card only has one DVI port, then the other ports (HDMI and VGA will need DVI adapters).  An example of an HDMI - DVI adapter can be found here.
The tricky part will be using the VGA - DVI adapter as DVI ports are typically DVI-D which makes it a pure digital signal.  VGA is analog, so the adapter will need to be special if the monitor is using a DVI-D port.  If it is a DVI-A or DVI-I port, then a standard VGA - DVI adapter will work.  If it is a DVI-D port, you will need an active VGA - DVI adapter.  If it is DVI-A/I, then a passive adapter will work.  This is an example of an Active VGA - DVI adapter.  For that adapter, a VGA cable will need to be connected to the VGA port with that end connected to the VGA side of the adapter and then being connected to the DVI port of the monitor.
Provided the video card supports 3 monitors, this would allow all monitors to have a DVI connection.  Keep in mind that the VGA port will still deliver an analog signal as opposed to the DVI and HDMI ports.  The card specifications do not really say how many monitors it supports, but it most likely does support three monitors.

  • HPE-112Y UPGRADE HELP..PLEASE

VT637AA-ABA-HPE-112Y amd phenom II X4 925 processor, 920gb, 8gb ram, ati radeon 4350 (512mb dedicated), bluray drive and recordable dvd/cd drive..
I am trying to speed up my desktop for surfing the web and running CyberLink PowerDirector 13. Powerdirector (10, 11, or 12) never seemed to work well with this desktop for some reason and after running the program the pc seemed much slower until reboot. Ive heard on cyberlink forum the radeon 4350 can have issues w/program compatibility and was instructed by cyberlink to rollback driver last year (if that matters?). even though I've tried saving memory via external hd, defragmenting, etc. The PC now is running extremely slow changing pages on the Internet as well. Its not the net, my laptop works great. I have windows 7 premium and run 2 28"Asus HD monitors (only one hdmi port on pc, the other through hdmi adaptor) and am getting ready to do a destructive reload to just to clear everything before possibly upgrading. I was thinking of upgrading either the RAM and or the video graphics card to give it the best performance. These seem to be the lowest scores on the windows performance tool (if it helps scores were 7.2, 7.5, 4., 5.9, 5.9)...processor Ram graphics gaming graphics and primary hard disk (534gb avail out of 920gb).
Ive never gamed and use it primarily for business and family video editing occasionally.
that's about all I can think of to say I tried to be as detailed as possible. feel free to give me recommendations on what video card to upgrade to, if I should upgrade from 8 gb ram to 16 gb ram (which is possible for the system and windows 7 premium), and/or do nothing if these upgrades wont affect performance noticeably. I think i read the ram is currently 2gbx4slots..so id probably have to replace all of it i think???

    Hi,
Skip the ram upgrade as your W7 performance numbers are plenty good.  Hold off on the video card upgrade until you can ascertain where the issue resides.
Your problems could be any one or more of the following:
Hardware issues --- run some diagnostics - reseat the ram and video card
ISP issues -- have the ISP conduct a loop test and then run your own download/upload performance test
Software issues -- reload the system

  • No video signal on a HPE 510f with a GeForce GT 640 connected to a HD TV

After upgrading the video card in my HPE 510f to a GeForce GT 640 and re-connecting it to my Home Theater system, there is no video signal from the HPE 510f when I switch the video input on the TV.  Simply unlpugging and re-inserting the HDMI cable solves the problem, but there must be something else that can be done. This solution kind'a defeats the purpose of having a remote...
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi,
Review this HP posted article for setting up dual monitors.  Look at the troubleshooting section for TVs.
Use a quality HDMI cable that is certified for 1.3 or 1.4 if the TV is 3D.
Avoid using adapters as they can be another point of failure.
Avoid using a long HDMI cable as the length can at times be an issue. 15 feet or less should be OK.
Try the latest NVIDIA Driver from the NVIDIA site.  Review the release notes.
Check the bios level of your PC against the latest bios level posted by HP.
Unless you have upgraded the power supply in the HPE 510f, the 300 watt PSU is below the GT 640 minimum requirements of 350 watts.

The ATI Eyefinity requires the third monitor to be a display port or dongle.  You will also need a different video card.
Go to www.newegg.com and look over the ATI 5670 and 5750.  Look at carefully at the card's connection ports.  This ATI 5670  card should work along with an adapter for your third monitor.  There are also other choices for cards but some may be double wide so you need to see if a double wide would fit.  You PC has 460 watt PSU so keep that in mind when chosing a card.

  • Mini DVI to Video Adapter - S-Video Resolutions / HDMI

    Hello,
I just got my Mini DVI to Video Adapter and I using a S-Video cable to plug to my HD LCD 32'' TV.
When I connect everything, the resolution drops from 1280x800 to 1024x768.
How can I change back to 1280x800?
I don't know but I'm kind of disappointed with the QUALITY of the video... is there any way I could improve this? Perhaps using a Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter? Does it exist? Will upgrade the resolution and/or the quality of the video?
I've read that audio is not supported using the Mini-DVI. To be honest, I don't really care about the audio... I can use the analog. But I'm very very disappointed with the quality of the video...
    Thanks anyone

    Well,
Based on what you said, I should have three options:
A: MacBook -> MiniDVI to DVI Adapter -> DVI to HDMI cable -> TV with HDMI input
C: MacBook -> MiniDVI to DVI Adapter -> DVI to DVI cable -> TV with DVI input
B: MacBook -> MiniDVI to HDMI Adapter -> HDMI cable -> TV with HDMI input
    What should work best?
My TV does not support DVI input, so that's kind of narrow it down, right?! Leaving options A and C.
I don't have any of the adapters. In both ways I'll end up having to buy stuff. Which is less expansive?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers.

Some background - I had a faulty Encore previously, but it would connect to my HDMI screen. The replacement, now 3 weeks old, works perfectly, except yesterday I tried HDMI out for sound (to an HDMI amplifier) but nothing. And then I decided to see if it would do HDMI out video - and nothing.
I plugged in the same cable that worked on the faulty tablet and to the same screen. I hit the devices charm and duplicated (and even tried extending) the screen. Nothing. I tried both HDMI ports on the screen. Nothing.
The last (faulty) tablet would make the sound that a new device was installed when I plugged HDMI in. This one makes no sounds. It's like the HDMI port isn't connected at all.
What advice would you give? I have downloaded all BIOS and Windows updates. I used the Intel update tool and everything is current. So what could I try to troubleshoot to get this to go?
Will happily provide more info if needed.
    Cheers

This HDMI connection still does not work. It only shows on the TV not on both. I have spoken to Toshiba Software and they have a fix which are some special tools at a one off charge of £84. They say the problem is to do with the HDMI only sending at 30 Hz and the TV being at 60Hz. They also say the fix will provide mirroring as the resolution of the TV and Encore are not compatible. As I only paid £177 for Encore I am reluctant to pay such a high amount. They also advised that you must be connected with the mains adaptor because the battery is not powerful enough to sustain the signal. My laptop works fine and I have a new HDMI cable for Encore.
    Any further thoughts?
