HPE-570F won't wakeup from hibernate mode

I have just bought a brand new HPE-570F, Serial Number {Removed for privacy}
It will not wake up after putting itself in sleep mode.
How do I fix this?
It's brand new!

Hi mpal999,
Your PC is still under warranty so it's best to contact HP Support.  A repair process might be necessary.
HP's support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.
You might try resetting the power options.  Go to the Control Panel ---> Power Options ---> click on Plan Settings link then click on the link to restore the plan default settings and save. Then reboot and test.

  • Compter won't wake from sleep mode

My Pavilion 17 notebook computer, purchased in Oct. '13, won't wake from sleep mode; I must shut down and reboot each time.  I know this is not due to Windows 8, as I have another Win 8 computer that works normally.

I've done some more experimentation and found a workaround. I had Sleep and the Screensaver both set to Never, and by activating the Screensaver the wake up issue has gone away. This doesn't change the fact that there is an issue with my ATV sleeping when it shouldn't and failing to wake up, but having the screensaver active stops it sleeping in the first place I guess.
It's slightly annoying because I like to have music playing with the description and album art running, and this disappears when the screensaver comes on, but it is better than unplugging the thing every time I use it. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next update, because it only appeared in the last one.

  • PowerBook won't wake from sleep mode

My PowerBook G4 won't wake from sleep mode. I open the lid and nothing happens. I hold down the power button and nothing happens. I resetted the PMU and it will wake up and I am able to login and then it goes back to sleep mode. What should I do please help? And if my computer is dead, is there any way to retrieve my information saved on the hard drive?

this would happen to me when my battery was dead. you test the battery life? (little button on bottom near battery)
I'd make sure it was plugged in and let it charge for 10 minutes or so. then try restarting it if it doesnt wake up by itself.

  • Starting Virtual Machine will not start from hibernate mode.

Selecting "Continue" states "the operation failed.  The virtual machine is not running"
Does anyone have any idea how to get a VPC up and running from this situation?

  • PC won't recover from sleep mode

i DON'T KNOW HOW TO RECOVER MY PC FROM THE SLEEP MODE?  WHAT'S THE PROCEDURE TOPOWER UP FROM SLEEP MODE? KV-BILL

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Thin vertical lines appearing on screen, since wakeup from sleep mode.

My Mac G5, 2GHz, DVD-R, 1GB DDR RAM, OSX 10.4.10, ATI RADEON X800 XT has recently developed a display issue. On start-up the screen shows vertical lines across the entire screen. The colors of theses lines is varying from green to black, depending of the background color. The lines are appearing from the grey loading screen and when a profile is logged in.
Shutting down and restarting doesn't cure the problem, nor does staring in safe mode nor starting up from an install CD. I also tried re-installing the operating system, but I get the same result. I tried another monitor but I also get the lines on screen. I verified all the cables and that the graphic card is well in place in the pci slot.
If I change the resolution, I also get thoses lines but they change place on screen. Also, if I set the colors level to 256 colors, I get very little single lines but If I set the color level to the highest (36,7 Millions), the lines appears in group of 5+ and are all over the screen.
I tried taking a screenshot using the shortcut cmd-shift-3 and I can see the line in the pictures. Also, if I take a screenshot of a window that is behind the window in the front ( using cmd-shift-4-space ), I dont see the line on the screen shot.
I started to have this problem when my mac was woke up from sleep mode and the problem has persisted since then.
I guess my problem is the graphic card but I would like an external opinion before I got buy another one.
    Thanks

    Any new results?
I'm having the same issue. Looks like this, but at a slight angle and different RGB colors (almost like JPG artifacting).
Started this evening after a cold boot. I just put my X800 XT Mac G5 edition in 2 weeks ago. No real heavy use either, as I've been gone for a week.
Looks to me like bad VRAM (according to TechTool Deluxe). I'm running the AHT now and will hopefully come to a final conclusion soon. I did test my 20" Apple monitor (DVI) with my laptop and there was no problem...so it is definitely the video card. Not sure if the aforementioned ATI ROM extender will fix it or not.
Much luck to all of us who are having this problem.

    Hi,
I am using Windows 7 32 Bit. Sometimes Wireless, ethernet adaptors are disabled after wake up from sleep mode. Kindly guide me how to identify the root cause. What are the logs should  I check refer to find the problem.
    Regards,

It might be a power saving option.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings
change plan settings--then change advanced power settings
Look for settings related to your Wireless card and/or your Ethernet adapters.

  • Laptop won't awake from sleep mode

    Toshiba PSCBLU-01L003
I've had this laptop for a few months, and rarely move it from my office desk.  When I leave it in active mode, the screen will eventually go dark and the computer will awaken when I touch the keyboard.
However, if I close the lid, or lock the screen, the computer will not awaken from sleep mode.  I get a blank screen that the only remedy is to remove the laptop from the power cord, and remove the battery to restart.
All drivers and software are up to date I keep them updated.
    Any suggestions, would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Then I would change that setting to something else, click Save Changes and restart the computer.  Then I would go back and change the setting back to Sleep, Save changes and restart again and see if that cures it.

  • Helix 20CG won't wake from sleep mode

    Hi
After doing all updates (windows/lenovo) and ensuring latest lenovo power managers are installed, my Helix 20CG will still not wake from sleep mode. This problem has been persistant since the second day I had the computer.
If the Helix is in sleep mode for more than 2 hours and you press the power button, the screen will not turn on. However if the tablet is docked on the ultrabook keyboard the green light on the Fn key will briefly flicker. Also if you press the power button and then immediately hit the windows button on the bottom of the tablet it will vibrate a bit, but in both cases the screen does not turn on.
After continuously hitting the power button for ~5-10 minutes the screen will eventually turn on.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Thanks,
    Brandon

For the past week, I've been using the Helix and just shutting it down every time I walk away from it. This morning I put it in sleep mode walked away for an hour or so and when I went to wake it up, by pressing the power button, the green light on the Fn key flashed but it would not wake up. I held the power button down for 4 seconds to do a hard reboot. I checked the system log, and when the computer was "asleep" the following warnings were recorded:

  • NB200-12W won't wake from sleep mode

I have only had my netbook for a couple of days so I'm not quite used to it yet though I'm well used to Windows 7 . I close the lid to turn on sleep mode but then it's difficult to wake the computer up. I often have to hold down the power switch to force a shut down and then reboot. Not something I want to do.
I have a USB mouse plugged in and I've enabled the USB wake up facility but nothing works. I open the lid and press keys, including trying a quick press of the power button but nothing happens. Has anyone any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi mate
I wake up mu notebook from hibernation mode pressing the power button.
I dont need to force the shut down. Just shortly press the power button in order to wake up the unit.
In your case I recommend checking if a BIOS update is possible.
You should check what version is available on the notebook and what version has been released. If newer version is available then update it!

  • Power Mac G4 MDD won't wake from sleep mode

    I have a Power Mac G4 MDD 1.25GHz with a 15" Apple display and running 10.4.
I can not wake the computer up from the sleep mode. It will not respond to the mouse moving, a mouse click, a keyboard key, the power button on the display or the power button on the computer.
The only thing I can do is force the computer off by holding in the power button (on display or computer) and restarting the computer.
The computer is set to go to sleep after 1 hour of no use (or the issue happens if I put it to sleep).
    Any thoughts would be great.

This is for a Mac that won't sleep.
Here is KB article HT1776 with their tips.
    Mine follow;
USB devices and hubs often cause Macs to not sleep or wake quickly from sleep (notably HP printers and scanners, HP all in ones, and Cannon scanners). Disconnect all USB except for keyboard and mouse and try. If it sleeps, add one back at a time testing after each one to find the culprit. If you've set your Mac to receive faxes, it may not be able to sleep. It might also have a damaged preferences file.
If you use your Mac for faxing, open System Preferences. click Print & Fax, click the Faxing tab, and uncheck the Receive Faxes On This Computer box.
If that doesn't work or you've never faxed on your Mac, go to Finder/Hard Drive /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com..apple.AutoWake.plist files (if your Mac asks, type your admin. password).
If the latter file isn't present in the folder, go to user name(probably your name)/Library/Preferences, delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file, and reboot your Mac.
    Hope this helps!
    P.S. One member here reported this (Michael Gleason);
"I have had this problem with my IMac G5. It is surprisingly irritating. LaCie's Silverkeeper backup software was the cause. By default it gave itself permission to wake up the computer to check if a backup was needed. Do you have this or a similar program installed which has scheduled activities including wake-up permissions as an option?"
Dave Hamilton provided this link, xlr8yourmac.com, to a member, which addresses failure of deep sleep with some users that updated and added new FireWire and USB cards.
Also, here is Apple doc.#305262 about PCI cards and sleep.
tomhorvat adds this; After few days of messing around I found out that I had desktop background (wallpaper) set to change every 1 minute.
After unchecking "Change picture..." in system preferences (under Desktop/Screen saver), my powerbook went to sleep all by itself.
Tristan Currier noticed this; "I have a Canon printer(shared) and my imac would not sleep. I opened up printer/fax in system prefs and noticed it said the printer was in use when it was off. Opened up the printer queue and noticed about 7 pending documents. Deleted them all and now it sleeps.
    Check the printer queue!"

  • IMac won't wake from sleep mode after latest update

Hello, I have a Late 2013 27-inch iMac that has started acting strange, lately. After installing update 10.10.3, my iMac almost will regularly not wake once it enters sleep mode, after being idle for a certain period of time.
Is anyone else having this problem, and/or have any solutions for this?
    Thank you in advance!

    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. Please read the whole article carefully and don't skip any of the steps, including the ones under the heading Additional troubleshooting. If you don't understand any of the steps, ask for guidance.
Also note that if you replaced the internal hard drive with an SSD, or if you're starting up from an external SSD, then that device may be causing the problem. Check the SSD manufacturer's website for a firmware update. The only solution may be to reinstall the original drive or avoid sleep altogether.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.5 or earlier, from the menu bar select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Accessibility
If the checkbox at the bottom marked
              Enable access for assistive devices
is checked, uncheck it and test.
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy ▹ Privacy ▹ Accessibility
If any applications are listed on the right and have a checked box next to them, uncheck all the boxes and test. You may first have to click the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate as an administrator to unlock the settings.
    Step 3
In the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences, uncheck the box marked
Put hard disks to sleep when possible
    Step 4
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
    Step 5
This and the next step must be taken as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ Diagnostic and Usage Messages
In the search box in the window's toolbar, enter "powerd" (without the quotes.)
You may see one or more lines like this:
    com.apple.message.signature: Platform Failure
If you do see that, and you did everything in the preceeding steps, then you're dealing with an internal hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
    Step 6
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that heading, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down.
You may see one or more reports with a name that begins with "Sleep Wake Failure" followed by a date. Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • HUGES problems with display after waking up from hibernate mode

    Hello everybody,
I hope that somebody can help me soon, because in the last 15 days I'm reaaaaallly annoyed with MAC's issues.
In the last 15 days it seemd I had to reboot it a lot of times, because it freezes, it crashes, etc...
Neverthless what happened today it passes all the limits: in the last period, because of these often crashes, I turn the mac off at night, on the other hand when I go to work I simply close the display and let it hibernates.
Today when I came back after work I opened it and it was amazing:
it has a different desktop!! With different icons in the dock, diferent icons in the top-right part, and it was freezed! I had to force it to shut down, restart it...and since then, I had huge problem with display.
It shakes everything while scrolling mails, web pages or icons in the dock. If I scroll between desktops, it takes year lights more than yesterday!!
Nothing happen if I restart as many time as I want.
In my simple opinion it seems a virus issue, but..as far as I know, there is no need to install an AV on a mac, right???
I tried to record some of these probls with the QT, but when you start recording all the desktop, it seems A LITTLE better, smoothing all these shaking effects. NEverthless they are still noticeable.
I'll try to attach a video as a dropbox link, 'cause I can't attach it on the message (it is denied)
    PLEASE HELP MEEEEE!!!!

    Circumstances:
I close the lid and walk away from the device in my office. When I return, (over night or an hour later) I open the lid, and if nothing happens swipe the touchpad or press a key, the power light changes from pulsating to steady. then in less than 15 seconds it goes back to pusating. The display never energizes, only remain black.
I usually try opening and closing several times, and occaisionally that will work. Other times, I hold the power key until I hear the drive halt, then turn it on. The grey screen will display, then blue, then just before it gets to the log in, the screen goes black (not energized) and the light pulsates.
I have tried the PRAM reset and Safe Mode starts with no luck.
*Now the really wierd thing.* I decieded to contact Apple support on line and pay for help (yes that is weird in an of itself for me). As I began the process it came to the part for me to enter my serial number. With the lid open, I turned the MacBook on its side to try to read the number and the screen energized and the password unlock prompt was waiting for me to enter the password.
    Observations
I had read where the light sensor could be blocked by dirt or the light in the room was too dim, but I clean the screen and there is plenty of light. Dales Post is the first that I have seen Parallels and the Sudden Motion Sensor. That makes some sense to me because of what happened when I turned it on its side. I have verified that it happens regardless of using Parallels. as teh last time I did it I had closed out of all my VMs and I believe exited Parallels.
I am going to try the deleting the power preferences file and will report back.

  • Laptop won't wake from sleep mode.

My laptop will sometimes spontaneously go into sleep mode and won't awake unless I remove the power cord and battery. At the same time I notice the top of the case/tracking pad get very hot. Sometimes when typing normally the cursor location will jump around your text and mess up your sentences. This is very annoying and I can't seem to make this stop from happening. Another thing I am noticing is system performance is slowing down, and the HDD is making a humming noise. Not sure if these are all related.
I've seen/read some threads on the sleep mode issue, but not the rest. Any seen anything like this? Laptop is still under warantee and I might just have to take it in, but I want to make sure I have issues with the hardware.
System details: G4 15" Powerbook, 1.5 Ghz, 60 GB HD, 512 MB Ram.
    PowerBook G4 1.5 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
You've raised a few issues. First, to try a fix for the sleep/power issue, reset your Power Mangement Unit described at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
Next, run your Apple hardware test. Insert the first OS X DVD that came with your system (should say AHT Version n.n in small print on the DVD), and reboot holding the option key down. Choose Apple hardware test, and follow directions. Choose the extended test. If you have one of the TechTool programs, that does the same testing. Does this point out any issues?
Performance slowing down...how much data do you have on your hard drive? You want to keep at least 10% free for system usage. Do you keep your system on 24x7? If not, there is a chance some of the system disk log maintenance won't run. You can run a program like MacJanitor or OnyX to clean them up. MacJanitor can be found at http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_hill/macjanitor.html and OnyX can be found at http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html . I prefer OnyX because it does much more than run the Apple scripts, however, either tool will run the scripts.
When the top of your case seems hot, you should look at your Activity monitor, located on your hard drive in applications/utilities, to see if anything is causing the CPU to run up to 100%.
