HR Forms conversion (PE53)
Hi Experts,
Once we have finished the technical upgrade from ERP 5.0 to ECC 6.0 (Unicode version), we have realized that all the HR Forms (PE53) are displayed incorrectly. I think it's a problem between Unicode and non-Unicode versions and it should be a common problem for the most of the upgrades that includes HR.
Have you had the same problem? How did you solve it? Is there any OSS Note or Function to convert the Forms to the new format or we will have to ask to our programmer to change all the forms manually?
Thank you in advance,
Abel
Hi Abel,
I found some SAP notes about misalignment in forms (see SAP notes 1246423 and 1280325), but I doubt that they could help you (probably already included in your SP level).
In this area it is also important to explicitly see the problem (e.g. screenshot) and this is not possible via this channel. Therefore I would recommend to open a customer message for this specific problem with a detailed description and e.g. screenshots.
Best regards,
Nils Buerckel

This issue has already been identified, tracked with bug number *14683491*, and has been resolved in development. The fix will be available in our next release. In the meantime, you can still set Application Defaults using the option available in Application Builder. Navigate to Application Builder, and select the Application Builder Defaults option in the Tasks region to the right of the page, pg 4000:1500.

Can anyone help me understand how the form conversion rate been calculated in the Landing Page Activity for Date Range report in Insight? Trying to figure out the conversion rates been measured in this report, so that we can properly interpret the results from below. Thank you in advance!

45.65%Thanks so much for your detailed reply!
I checked into "Landing Page Activity for Date Range" report again and accidently hovered over "Form Conversion Rate"; it displayed the formula as "Total Form Submissions / Total Form Views". I added that metric to the report and saved locally. Now the Form Conversion Rate does equal to the calculation of Total Form Submissions / Total Form Views; data copied below. However, that formula is different from the one specified in the "Insight_ReportDetails_Guide", which is "Total Submits / Total Page Views").
Now, here comes the new questions for your help/ideas/suggestions -
- How come in our "Landing Page Activity for Date Range", the formula for Form Conversion Rate is different from the one listed in "Insight_ReportDetails_Guide"?
- Can we change it to use this formula: Total Submits / Total Page Views?
- Which one indeed is the correct calculation for Form Conversion Rate in "Landing Page Activity for Date Range" report?

Forms conversion enhancement requests
Yesterday a colleague and I gave for our company a demo presentation about Oracle Forms conversion to ADF and APEX.
For ADF we used the jHeadstartForms2ADF utility and for APEX the internal application migration utility included in APEX 3.2.1.
Both utilities have their own strong and weak points.
As I compared the both ways of migrating, I would like to see some features of jHeadstartForms2ADF into the APEX Forms converter:
1. In APEX you can only select the XML files for uploading one-by-one. If you have to upload a lot of XML files, this is very annoying.
I would like to see that you can select more than one file of the same type and then upload them.
This would apply for more places in APEX (think of uploading SQL scripts, importing applications/images, etc...)
Maybe this feature is related to the APEX listener.
2. In the Edit Project Details and Applicability of the Application Migrations you can select which components/triggers are applicable.
In jHeadstartForms2ADF you can set the names (with wildcards) of elements which have to be set to not applicable.
For example TOOLBAR, CG$, etc...
I would like to see this feature in APEX as well.
3. As I already mentioned in Which Forms Item properties are converted to APEX? the current Forms converter ignores item properties like 'format', 'initial value', 'hint', 'tooltip', 'auto hint', 'justification', 'case restriction' and 'max length'. This item properties exists in every application. It would be very useful if these would be converted.
In my honest opinion I think APEX is great with the document/project planning ability of the application migration compared to the jHeadstartForms2ADF.Hello,
Well the official way is to go through metalink so that it make it's way through the management chain and into our enhancment queue.
The unofficial and some might say faster (and funner) way to do it, would be to post what you want in the next post of this thread. And get as many people as can to say "ME TOO!!!" and then periodically bump it to the top by asking about it.

Carl

FRM : 41067 Cannot find menu item id ( forms 10g Menus/Forms Conversion )
Hi All ,
We have menus converted into forms 10g using the forms migration assistant FMA ( frmplsqlconv ) . Now , we had the menus (.mmb) which had used Shared Menus.
After conversion observed that there were some duplicate copies of the shared menus created automatically and each reference where this shared menu was used was replaced by the newly created ones.
Now , when I open the form that uses the menu I get the following error :
FRM : 41067 Cannot find menu item id
On debuggin observed the the above error was generated at :
set_menu_item_property(SHARED_MENU.ITEM,.... )
Not sure how this worked in forms earlier version and not working in 10g now.
Could anyone please let me know how to go about to fix this issue and why is this happening at the first point.
Is re-creating the menu from scratch the only option to resolve the issue ?
Please advise ..
Thanks ,Hi

we are using oracle since last 6 years. We have already developed our sales/production systems in oracle 7 and forms 3 and runs successfully since then.
Because of technology updation we want to upgrade from 7 to 8i and forms from 3 to 6i
To convert forms 3 to 6i we have to first convert it into Forms 4.5 then Forms4.5 to 6i that we know.
We have upgraded databases / procedures / packages from 7 to 8i successfully. But we are experiencing problem in converting forms 3 to 45.
Scenario :
We are using F45GEN.exe programs to convert forms 3 into 4.5
In our old system we have generated common forms, which has certain procedures common for all our modules and programs. Later on these procedure are called from different programs with the help of references.
We call this common procedure by following methods in forms 3.0 files.
DEFINE PROCEDURE
NAME = ABC
DEFINE REFERENCE
OWNER = SCOTT
APPLICATION = EMPMAST
PROCEDURE = ABC
ENDDEFINE REFERENCE
ENDDEFINE PROCEDURE
Procedure 'ABC' is defined in application
'EMPMAST.inp' which is already converted.
We have converted these common procedures forms from 3.0 to 4.5. But as soon as we try to convert the form ( Say A ) which has reference of above common forms then it will give errors 'table or view does not exist'.
If we removes these common procedures from form A then it will convert successfully.
But I want to conver this form A with the help of these procedures.
Please Help Me.
IN BRIEF :
Who do I define called procedure at the time of generating forms from 3.0 to 4.5
nullHi - this might not be your problem, but reading your post reminded me of when we first started migrating from 6i to 10g. Like you, we store our modules as text formats and then convert back to binary; I had some that would convert in the Forms Builder, but not from the command line.
I eventually fixed it by first running dos2unix against the text files (our apps server is on Linux) to strip out some Windows-specific special characters that had gotten in there, and then running the command line conversion tool against them.
You never know, it might help..?

Forms conversion (5.0 to 6.0)
Hi All,
We converted several of our forms and Menus from Forms5 to Forms 6. Now on some of the forms when we try to run them we are constantly getting error " FRM-41067- Can not find menu item: Invalid ID"
Could somebody tell me why are we seeing this message after conversion.
Thanks
SanjayI have converted forms from 4.5 to 6.0 without any difficulty - references are maintained.
If you are committed to your current version 6.0 forms and do not wish to visit every object in every form to recreate the references, I have some software to do this programmatically.
YOu can contact me at [email protected]

XML to Forms conversion gives error for menus
We are trying the ORACLE <---> XML conversion Utility.
We want to convert a MMB to XML and store it in our repository. When we want to modify it we get the XML from the repository, convert it back to a MMB and edit it. This saves space in the repository DB.
Problem when we convert or MMB --> XML using like this frmf2xml.bat OVERWRITE=YES TRANS_MENU.mmb
the XML file is created.
Now when we try to convert the XML back to a MMB using this code frmxml2f OVERWRITE=YES PRINTTREE=YES USERID=userid/pwd@db TRANS_MENU_mmb.xml we get this error:
Oracle Forms 10.1.2 XML to Forms Tool
Copyright(c) 2001, 2005, Oracle. All rights reserved.
file:/F:/Channa/XML_Forms_Conversion/I/TRANS_MENU_mmb.xml<Line 164, Column 73>: XML-24523: (Error) Invalid value ' INTERNATIONAL_OUT_GOING_CALL_D_MENU ' for attribute: 'Name'

file:/F:/Channa/XML_Forms_Conversion/I/TRANS_MENU_mmb.xml<Line 823, Column 69>: XML-24523: (Error) Invalid value 'BANK_PAYMENT_AUDIT_REPORTS_MENU' for attribute: 'Name'

file:/F:/Channa/XML_Forms_Conversion/I/TRANS_MENU_mmb.xml<Line 887, Column 73>: XML-24523: (Error) Invalid value 'DEALER_SOLD_SUBSCRIPTION_TRANS_MENU' for attribute: 'Name'
file:/F:/Channa/XML_Forms_Conversion/I/TRANS_MENU_mmb.xml<Line 917, Column 73>: XML-24523: (Error) Invalid value 'CHANNA_LEVEL_42444444444444444_MENU' for attribute: 'Name'
Invalid XML - file TRANS_MENU_mmb.xml does not validate against Forms XML Schema:
Invalid value 'INTERNATIONAL_OUT_GOING_CALL_D_MENU' for attribute: 'Name'
I found the problem. For submenus the XML adds a _MENU to the end of the name attribute and when the name of the menu is over 26 chars 26+5 = 31 becomes more than 30 characters. So when the XML is converted to the MMB we get an error because forms objects cannot have names of lengths > 30.
I think this could be a bug. We cannot modify the menu just for this since it is not practical.
Is this a known bug? Any workaround?

You XML structure contains deep levels. As far as i understand about the StrictXML2PlainBean module, this is not capable of handling deep structures.
This module is just an alternative to use FCC type functionality for other receiver adapters.
Please take a look at these links:
https://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/EN/44/748d595dab6fb5e10000000a155369/content.htm
StrictXml2PlainBean - to have an XML - EDI conversion?
In case you want to achieve nested level content conversion, you may try this:

I hope this helps.

Smartform- ADS form conversion error
Hello,
I have to migrate a Smartform to ADS form by using the embedded function in SMartforms transaction.
After I have converted the form I got the ADS interface and ADS form.
If I see the interface I can see the old parameters (i.e. printer options) present but in grey. If I acces the form these parameters are not visible and I canu2019t use some field from them.
I run transaction SFP with the converted form . In transaction SFP you have 2 sections: form and interface
When I go to interface section of this form I have
inside FORM interface->IMPORT->
ARCHIVE_INDEX TYPE TOA_DARA 1 1 ***
ARCHIVE_INDEX_TAB TYPE TSFDARA 1 1 ***
ARCHIVE_PARAMETERS TYPE ARC_PARAMS 1 1 ***
CONTROL_PARAMETERS TYPE SSFCTRLOP 1 1 ***

MAIL_RECIPIENT TYPE SWOTOBJID 1 1 ***

OUTPUT_OPTIONS TYPE SSFCOMPOP 1 1 ***
USER_SETTINGS TYPE TDBOOL 1 1 'X'
MKPF TYPE MKPF 0 0
MSEG TYPE MSEG 0 0
BUNDLE TYPE CHAR5 0 0
Parameters ARCHIVE_INDEX thru USER_SETTINGS are in grey and cannot be used
when I go to to form utility
On the left of the screen i have three folders:
ZGR002_RU (name of the form)
Import folder
MKPF Header: Material Document
MSEG Document Segment: Material
BUNDLE R/2 table
global data folder
system field folder
As youi can see the import parameters are less than the ones present in interface section.
if i activate the form I have the following error
Form ZGR002_RU, Node X2500_HEADING @0A\QError@
Conditions, row 1: Field OUTPUT_OPTIONS-BCS_LANGU does not exist
BCS_LANGU is a field of OUTPUT_OPTIONS structure present only in the interface section, but seems does not exist inside the form or the context.
Do you have any hint?
Thanks in advance
FabrizioHi Madhu.
Of course it is. and that's the problem
My question was, how is possible the auitomatic export function of smartforms creates this folders using a structure that causes error during form compiling?
OUTPUT_OPTIONS is a mandatory structure in smartform and was exported in INTERFACE sectionin ADS. So I guessed this has a meaning.
How can I solve it? should I replicate the structure in the global definition and move the original structure in "code initialisation" section?

Form conversion to PDF with Chinese characters
Hello.
I have a Sap script form and it has Chinese characters in the title and footer. It is converted to PDF then send it to email, at transaction SOST. The Chinese characters was replaced by '#'.
Our basis tried to install the device driver for PDF stated in sap note 999712, but still it didn't correct the form's output in the PDF file. The form is in ZH and the font used in the form is CNSONG. The transactions was also executed during ZH logon. Would anybody know a solution to this?
Thanks in advance!Doray,
For printing in PDF other than english characters we have to create new font .
Go to SE73 and create new font family Named ZCOUR_I6 and then execute the report RSTXPDF2 where in select the optin for activity to be performed as READ and SAVE the font file.
From control panel for to fonts and copy the COURIER NEW (TrueTYpe) font on to ur desktop .
Upload the the same font file using RSTXPDF2 by specifying it in the file name.
Then try to execute the tcode which u r usingh for converting the output to PDF and check whether the desired output has been converted.
Hope things are little clear for you.
