Instance seperation

Hi experts ,
I am stuck in one requirement of my client.
They want one seperate HR instance i.e the HR module will be in one server and rest all modules are in different server. I Have not too much idea of this.
Please help me on this and if possible please let me know if any documentation available on this.
Rightnos my client wants these information from me
1.The best practice suggestion for how the technical separation of HR into own system will be done
2.Data synchronisation plan between ORP R/3 and HR-system after HR system separation
3.The plan for CATS-recordings after HR separation.
- What system (ORp R/3 or HR system) should be used for CATS-recordings ?
- At the moment we are using CATW (via ITS) for CATS recordings, but in the future ESS will be used for CATS-recordings
- New HR ESS functionalities (eg. Employee personal data maintenance, Leave and absence Requests etc) will be implemented in the future. we use 2 different R/3 backend system from ESS ? This is applicable if CATS remains in ORP R/3 system.
- WBS-codes are needed for CATS-recordings
4.Enhancement package 2 - is it needed for CATS recordings in ESS ?
Please help me on this as I have not too much idea on this.

Instance can be different if you are going to use the CATS
Cats is for Time shell entry in HR Module and Talks to various othere Modules
Comming to ESS it is interface to SAP
the available data is used
and ESS can be used to Entry Time sheetl if Requireq by BUSINESS

Patchset Update for every Instance neccessary??? Urgent!

I am running a server with Oracle v.10.2.0.1.0 and 4 database instances. Today I installed the Patchset Update for version 10.2.0.5.0.
After the runInstaller routine completed, I logged into one of these instances and ran the catupgr.sql followed by the utlrp.sql script.
My question to you is if I have to run these scripts for every instance seperately to upgrade sys and system schemas to v.10.2.0.5.0?
It is really urgent as I'll have to get back to work tomorrow. The systems need to run on Monday!

Yes, you will need to run the scripts on each database that uses this ORACLE_HOME. The steps are outlined in the README for 10.2.0.5 patch.

Instance startup / shutdown (Solaris 9 Oracle 9i)

Morning Guys, How was the weekend? Hope everybody enjoyed.
I have 2 instances running in one machine. I have just performed a shutdown but only 1 intance is down the other one is still running, how do I shutdown the other one as well. The same goes for Startup can I perform the startup for both of the instances seperately.

Are the 2 instances running on 2 databases?
if yes simply connect to each database by user sys@service_name and shut it down.
conn sys/sys_pass@service_name1 as sysdba
shutdown immediate;
conn sys/sys_pass@service_name2 as sysdba
shutdown immediate;

SAP ECC 6.0 EHP4 installation with ABAP+JAVA stack

Hi,
I need to install SAP ECC6.0 EHP4 with ABAP+JAVA stack on windiws server 2008 with oracle.
I have read that for this, we need to install ECC 6.0 EHP4 ready and then upgrade to EHP4 using ehpi installer.
I have found the documents seperately for ABAP and JAVA stack and not for ABAP+JAVA.
I need clarifications on these.
1.Do we need to install ABAP and JAVA instances seperately with EHP4 and then upgrade(In that case I have to install both instances on single host)?
2.Should we give seperate <SID> for both instances and create seperate databases?
3.Hard disk requirement for this set up.(We have 150 GB including C drive)
4.Steps to perform after installing ECC6.0 EHP4 ready
5.Please send me the doc. if anyone has

Alerts in XI and CCMS

I've read some SAP doco talking about a CCMS Central Monitoring System (CEN).
Does that mean having CCMS on it's own Server - and CCMS is monitoring all DEV, QAS and PRD systems.
What is the usual way if you have R/3, BW, XI. Which box should have CCMS on it ? Or should it have it's own instance seperated from the rest of them ??

There will be a separate instance of CCMS installed which will do the central administartion for all the components in a landscape. It can be handled by one single administrator....can have many assistants. No need of having a separate instance of CCMS for R3, XI/ PI, etc...the only thing that you need to take of is how to integrate your system with CCMS for monitoring.
The CCMS alert monitoring infrastructure is provided by SAP free of cost.

Installation of ECC 5.0 Sapides

i am trying to install Sapides Ecc 5.
Do i need to install the database instance seperately or it is installed with the central instance?

during loading phase i am receiving the following errors in SAPSLEXC file.

How can I implement the connection pool in my java stored procedure

my java stored procedures (in database 'B') have to connect to another oracle database ,let's say 'A'. And how can I implement the behavior like the so-called connection pool in my java stored procedure in 'B', as below.
1. database B, has 2 java stored procedures sp1 and sp2
2. both sp1 and sp2 connects to databse 'A'
whatever I call the sp1 and sp2 and the database 'A' always only one connected session from sp1 and sp2 in database 'B'.

my problem is I have a lots of java stored procedures need to cnnect to the remote oracle db, and I hope the remote db can only have a connected session from my java stored procedures in my local db. I try as below

I can 'see' the 'conn' variable if I invoke the sp1() and sp2() from the same client application(maybe sqlplus). But if I invoke the sp1() from client 'A' and invoke sp2() from client 'B' then the sp1() and sp2() can not see the 'conn' variable for each other. I think it's because the two clients cause oracle to create two instances of the class 'sp' and the sp1() and sp2() located in different instance seperately. Thus the sp1() and sp2() can not see 'conn' for each other. They can only see its own 'conn'.
To connect to the remote db from the java stored procedure is easy but is it possible to connect to the remote db via database link from the java stored procedure at my local db ? If so, then I also archive my goal .

EHP4 SPS05 installation on ERP 6.0

Hi,
We are about to start with the EHP4 SPS05 installation on ERP 6.0 quality system which has a CENTRAL and two dialogue instances.
Please can anyone confirm do we need to uninstall dialogue instances after we upgrade the central instances??
As per the document, before dowtime phase starts we need to uninstall the dialog instances and isolate the central instances.
Can i keep my dialogue instances till DOWNTIME phase? Do I need to upgrade dialog instances seperately?
Please can anyone guide me through the exact procedure as to what needs to be followed?

Hello Rozal,
You donot need to uninstall and install the dialog instance again.You only need to stop dialog instance before downtime and restart it after the downtime. Check the following stages from EHP4 installation guide :
Actions During the Preprocessing Roadmap Step

13. Before the downtime [page 72] begins, you stop all dialog instances, stop SAP Management
Console (MMC) and Software Deployment Manager (SDM), stop jcmon and other standalone
monitoring tools, and, if you are running an enhancement package installation in a high
availability system, you stop the Java central instance and SCS instance.
Actions During the Downtime Roadmap Step
=======================================
5. The installation program asks you to perform the following actions:
n You back up the database.
n You change the database recovery mode.
n You start the dialog instances.

Yes, I have read the manual, and I have searched Google, but I have still having difficulties.
I run SWS 6.1 on a clustered system.
When I update a library (xyz.jar) in my /WEB-INF/lib/ directory, the change should be picked up automatically, right - especially with the dynamicreloadinterval parameter set in server.xml for that instance. Is that true?
Well, I have that parameter set on both servers of the clustered system - but only one SWS instance recognizes the new library. What is going on?
I also understand that touching the .reload file in the ... directory (I don't remember exactly where - but it's the one in the documentation) will reload the deployment descriptors. I assume that reload will also reread a Web application's libraries, won't it?
Well, I have .touch-ed the server instance, but to no avail. What is going on?
Btw, I have no problem with SWS on a single server system. It's the clustered system that is causing problems.
Any tips?

which Web Server version you use? If it's WS6.1Spx, you should treat the instances seperately.

Portal Cluster for Production

Hello,
We are planning our Production Portal 6.0 system to service approx 2000 users. In addition to using a separate Central Instance and DB server, I'm assuming that we should plan several instances to be used as J2EE Cluster instances.
I'm a bit unclear, can the Cluster instances be Java dialog instances tied back in to the CI, or are they separate WAS servers?
Also any recommendations as far as how many server processes to configure per instance? We are using AIX LPAR's and can add easily memory and CPU's to an instance.

Hi Alan Nicholos,
If you are going for SPOF of WAS then you go with the Standalone Central service Instance which should be in Cluster and then you can have 'n' nos of Dialog Instances seperately. You can also keep DB Instance on the cluster to achieve 100% SPOF.

Rac, statspack.snap and new job architecture

I want to install perfstat on a new rac database (10.2). In our old 9.2 database I used the job queue to run the snapshots on every instance seperately. Now I want to use the new scheduler to ran statspack.snap, but how do I tell the scheduler to run snap on on instance?

I think I need a seperate job on every instance. Aren't the v$ views instance dependant? But perhaps I'm missing some fact about how statspack works. I always thougt, that statspack.snap samples the data of one instance.
(And statspack is just an example. Think about a report job which has to run on one defined instance, because someone wants to load balance manually - or an import job, which needs access to some special hardware, etc.)

Search criterias

Here's my line to find a match : fileLine.matches("(?i).*"+searchString+".*");I then use : fileLine = replace(fileLine, searchString, newString);to replace the match if it is found.
now my search string has a paranthesis inside like so : "(something)"
should the paranthesis be something else (aka another type of code?)
and most of the serach instances are stuck with html code beside as so : (something)</ul>
or any other type of tag. so when read in a string, there are no spaces between, here's my other question, is the code im using to find a match used to find only instances seperated by spaces? or should it be able to recognise the instance even though its stuck on some html tags?
btw my prgoram reads the source code so it is inevitable.

JSPM,SDM,configtool installation in Dialog instance or seperated server

Hi experts
We set up NetWeaver2004s MSCS configration(having two nodes,
first node has CI locally,and second has DI locally.
Generally CI has some special tools such as System Land Directory,SDM
JSPM,configtool and Visual Administrator...
In the case that CI is unavailable, How can we use these tools on Dialog
instance after CI crush without CI restore??
So far Ive found the installation note for Visual Administrator in another node.
But i coundnt find the installation guide for SDM,JSPM,configtool and Visual Administrator.
Any information would be help.

SDM:You can start sdm also if the j2ee server not is coming up... startserver.bat.
JSPM:You can use SDM instead JSPM.
ConfigTool:Only the database must be available. No J2EE server must running.
Basically your answers are assumed that primery server is available in OS level
with CI crash or something.
I would like to know solution against crtical situation like in the case of Hardware crush,example OS login is unavailable
SDM,JSPM,configtool is installed in CI(primery server) only, so we'd like to use
these tools in seconderly node.
If you know SAP's standard solution about how to mange sepecific tools
of CI for MSCS against CI failer, I would like to know it.
