HRMS Budgeting in 11.5.10.2 -- Guidance Please

Hello,
Does anyone have any guidance / overview / set-up documentation or information regarding the new 11.5.10 HRMS Budgeting functionality?
Need to implement from new for a client. They have no existing budgets to convert.
Thank you,
Peter.

Hi,
Based on your country legislation you have to follow the instruction of application setup rules. Once you complete the setup you can apply required patches if any comes after the version you have installed. Best to check at Metalink for latest patches.
To meet local legislation you have to keep up-to-date your application always.
Thanks
Ajit

  • Hyperion Workforce Vs Oracle HRMS Budgeting-HR

    Hi All,
We are implementing Hyperion planning and as client uses Oracle payroll they are insisiting to use oracle HRMS budgeting.
I found Oracle is not as flexible as hyperion workforce in terms of using multiple factors for budgeting like - Grade, dependents, cost centres etc.
Where as Oracle allows to create budget on llimited factors of any of Job, Position, Grade and organization or combination but I am not sure it accomodates employee transfers, planned departures and change positions which are available in workforce.
Did anyone faced the same issue of selecting either Oracle HRMS or Hyperion workforce? Please let me know and if you can list what are the benefits and limitations of each applications it would be great.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi:
My choice will always be Oracle Hyperion. This is also Oracle recommendation. Other than the benefits you listed, the biggest drawback of HR Budget is that it cannot derive the budget which I hope Hyperion does. HR Budget only captures the amount derived outside system. Moreover its a tedious process to update and maintain budgets in HR if your line items are a lot.
    My reco will be HYPERION!!!

  • How to delete HRMS Budget ?

I create a budget name as ABC. Now how can I delete that budget ? I delete all budget IDs and corresponding periods but when I try to delete budget, it doesn't allow me by saying that "cannot delete the current budget because the budget is being used". I dn't want to use APIs for deletion.
    Urgent reply awaited
    Thanks

Even when deleting budget through API, it gives me the same message.

  • A litle guidance please - reduced bandwidth over wireless

    Hi All,
If anyone with a little nore tech know-how can offer up any guidance to my problem, I would be most grateful.
I have recently recieved my 4mb to 10mb upgrade via Virgin BB . However, I can't seem to take advantage of the upgrade over my wireless network.
I get a steady 10mb avg on various speed test sites if the connection is via cat5 from modem to laptop/desktop. If I go via wireless it's stuck around 4mb which is what I had before the upgrade.
My router is a linksys wrt54g v5 running latest FW. I hope that it's a case of some tweaks to the wireless router but I'm stuck without some help.......I have tried my best to search this out before asking but no joy.
Wireless network is perfect and happy with speeds, the problem is purely D/L speeds from the web.
    Thanks in advance,
    D

Many things will affect your wireless connection.  Microwave ovens, cordless phones, cellphones, construction of the house, and distance between computer and router.  You will receive the fastest speed when your wireless signal is excellent or 5 bars.

  • Workflow Install Guidance - Please help!! :=)

I have some questions about how/where to install Oracle Workflow. Any guidance would be appreciated.
    1) Is there a Workflow 2.6.2 CD or do you just install 2.6 and then use the patch to update your install?
    2) Is the Oracle Workflow installed on the database server or the app server. I know that a DAD is needed on the app server in something like 9iAS or OAS. However, where is the actual Workflow Server installed (db server or app server)? Where is the Oracle 9i Management and Integration installed? Specifically, does the /wf directory end up being on the database server or the app server?
    3) Workflow is bundled with the database 9.2 CD as well as 9iAS 9.0.2 as a supplemental CD. Does it matter which one you use? Are they different products? If you use the 9iAS one, where do you install it?
    4) I know that Workflow 2.6.2 is bundled with Oracle 9iAS InterConnect in 9iAS 9.0.2.1. However, you have to install the whole thing including InterConnect even if you just want Workflow 2.6.2.
Again any guidance/help/pointers to documentation will help. Trust me, I have tried to read everything out there and they are very careful not to mention where you install the product (db server or app server)... :=)
    Thanks,
    Ray

I've been messing with workflow - so these comments are from someone who is not an expert.
Oracle Workflow is part of the database install on 9i. I managed to get it installed in the following rough manner:
    1. Install 9i databse on a machine
    2. Add the workflow bit by choosing "Oracle 9i Management and Integration", then "Custom". When you hit next, Oracle Workflow should be under enterprise manager product.
This will install workflow and launch the configurator. Now you kind of have workflow, but you need to do more "magic" to get the web front end up.
Firstly you need to make sure that you have the HTTP server up and can access its pages. There is no a setting under the web server implmentation which allows you to setup a "DAD" for the workflow. Try searching oracle pdfs for :
Step 4. Install and configure your Web server.
Oracle Workflow requires that you integrate with Oracle HTTP Server as
your Web server. Your Web server installation must be able to access the
Oracle Workflow java area, the Oracle Workflow icon area, and the Oracle
    Workflow documentation area.
    1. Install Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql.
Refer to your Oracle9i Database Server or Oracle9i Application Server
    installation documentation for further details.
    2. Using your web browser, navigate to the following URL:
    http://<server_name>[:<portID>]/
Replace <server_name> and <portID> with the server and port number
on which your web listener accepts requests. For example:
    http://test.company.com:7778/
    3. In the Oracle HTTP Server Components page, choose "mod_plsql".
    4. In the Gateway Configuration Menu page, choose "Gateway Database
    Access Descriptor Settings".
    5. In the Database Access Descriptors page, choose "Add Default (blank
    configuration)".
    6. Create a DAD for Oracle Workflow, specifying the following settings:
Database Access Descriptor Name: <your Workflow DAD>
    Schema Name: <Leave Blank>
    Oracle User Name: <Leave Blank>
    Oracle Password: <Leave Blank>
    Oracle Connect String: <CONNECT_STRING>
Note: Oracle Workflow Release 2.6.2 supports the
versions of Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql that are
included with Oracle9i Database Server version 9.2 or
higher, as well as the versions that are included with
Oracle9i Application Server Release 2 (9.0.2) or higher. We
recommend using the versions of Oracle HTTP Server and
mod_plsql that are included on the software CD from
which you are installing Oracle Workflow.

  • Your help selecting one and some guidance - please

    Hi all,
Just wanted to introduce myself here.  NOOB here.  I have been in the QA/Business Analyst role for about 10 years, and recently decided to change fields as a Functional SAP either in CRM, BI/BW, or HR , however more towards BI/BW.
Is there any study material out there where I can read through and get more of a module understanding before I join a course?  So, once I take a course, I can ask more intelligent and module related in-depth questions vs. just basic.
Your guidance would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you

There is no free BW download version.

  • New to Mac and to video editing...need some guidance, please

I've decided to make the switch and ordered a new 3Ghz 24" iMac. I chose a 1TB HD and 4G of RAM.
I want to do some photo and video editing (nothing professional, simply vacation photos and video). I'll be purchasing an HD camcorder later this year to replace my current one (non-HD). I currently have about 5000 photos and about 50 hours of unedited DV on DV tapes to begin to work with.
Any suggestions on the following would be much appreciated:
    1. Back-up: Should I use a 1GB Time Capsule or a 1 GB GTECH drive with Time Machine? I should mention that I plan on purchasing a MB or MBP later this year. Can I use a GTech HD as a NAS-like drive for both the iMac and the notebook?
    2. Should I partition the internal HD?
    3. Should I use a 'scratch disk' for video editing? If so, any suggestions for a particular size or model?
    4. Any suggestions for ease of transfer of my data from my PC (photos, iTunes library, mail, IE favorites, etc.)?
    5. Anything else you would suggest for a new Mac user?
Thanks very much for the help!!!

    Hi there.
First, a couple of websites to help you on your way (and Welcome to the Mac!)
    http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/
    And also
    http://www.apple.com/support/leopard/
Now, as for your questions, these are just IMHO:
Backup - get BOTH the capsule and a separate HD. If you can only get one, personally I would get the non-TB disk so that I can drag the video files that I want onto it. the Capsule might backup other stuff (and slowly compared to the straight drive; get a FW 800 drive if you can, if not then FW 400 at least). I also think you meant TB not GB! Just make sure the DISK is from a good vendor (Seagate, Hitachi or Western Digital).
Partition - Nope; wastes space; you need contiguous space from my experience. Only do that if you really need to run Windows via Boot Camp (not recommended to run Windows at all!)
Scratch disk is absolutely recommended. Get the largest size one you can afford and separate out this from your backup disk. (Worst case, use a bit of the scratch disk as your backup, but also keep the same work files on your main hard disk so you at least have a physical duplicate somewhere). Yup, hard disks are gonna add up!
The above websites have some tips on transferring content from PCs; generally you can just burn stuff onto DVD and import them onto the Mac. That's pretty straight forward.
Suggestions IMHO - forget the Mighty Mouse and get another quality two button mouse. Also consider a Kensington Trackball. Get AppleCare warranty for all your hardware (for peace of mind). Triple check that your camcorder will be supported by iMovie '08. It might not be by Final Cut but at least you can get the files from iMovie into Final Cut. But Final Cut does support quite a lot of them already.
Introduce 10 other Windows people to the Mac. (This is what we do).
    Cheers!

  • I've purchased an audio book on itunes but can't find how to access it on my ipod touch 5th gen - Help!, I've purchased an audio book on itunes but can't find how to access it on my ipod touch 5th gen.  Can anyone offer guidance please?

I've just purchased my very first audiobook from itunes as I'm driving from the midlands to Newcastle this afternoon.  I thought a book would make the journey more manageable.  But now I can't find how to pay the book back!  I can see it in my itunes library and play in on my computer, but not on my device (which I have synced since making the purchase).  Can anyone tell me where my audiobook is hiding please?  Thanks

Can you find the audio book by using the Search feature on the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync the audio book to the iPod?
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Note you have to check the boxes in Books pane for the iPod in iTunes to sync books in general and another box to sync Audio Books.

  • Trying hard to add a common identifier with a bunch of rows in my query....Need guidance please

    Hi,
Below is table structure as i/p of my query.
    I/P
    with temp1 as
    (select 1 trans_id,'USD' currency,1500 amount,'B' orientation_buysell,'www' counterparty from dual
    union
    select 2,'USD',500,'S','www' from dual
    union
    select 3,'USD',1000,'S','www' from dual
    union
    select 4,'SGD',2500,'B','xyz' from dual
    union
    select 5,'SGD',500,'S','xyz' from dual
    union
    select 6,'SGD',1000,'S','xyz' from dual

    select 7,'SGD',1000,'S','xyz' from dual

    select 8,'JPY',3000,'B','yyy' from dual
    union
    select 9,'JPY',2000,'S','yyy' from dual
    union
    select 10,'JPY',500,'S','yyy' from dual
    union
    select 11,'JPY',500,'S','yyy' from dual
    select * from temp1;
O/P should be like smthing below.
    Alert_id start_trans_id end_trans_id currency orientation_buysell counterparty
    1                  1                      2              USD                       B      www
    1                  1                      3              USD                       B      www
    2                  4                      5              SGD                       B      xyz
    2                  4                      6              SGD                       B      xyz
    2                  4                      7              SGD                       B      xyz
    3                  8                      9              JPY                        B      yyy
    3                  8                      10            JPY                        B      yyy
    3                  8                      11            JPY                        B      yyy
So i have used below query, i got all my requirement done except Alert_id, could you please help me how to generate this alert id.
    Query
    Select a.trans_id Start_trans_id,b.trans_id End_trans_id,a.currency,a.orientation_buysell,a.counterparty
    from temp1 a
                     inner join
           temp1 b
                     on a.counterparty = b.counterparty
    where a.orientation_buysell = 'B'
    and      b.orientation_buysell='S'
    order by a.trans_id,b.trans_id;
Actually these all data i need to pick from a table (here temp1), make its data as per my requirement(o/p) and also need to add a new column 'Alert_id' that should be populated as i have shown in o/p & Finally insert into a particular ALERT Table.
I am not getting this Alert id concept in my query, how to make this one generic.
Any help, would be really appreciable. Thanks

    Hi,
    So,
all the rows with the lowest value of trans_id need alert_id=1,
all the rows with the 2nd lowest value of trans_id need alert_id=2,
all the rows with the 3rd lowest value of trans_id need alert_id=3,
all the rows with the Nth lowest value of trans_id need alert_id=N.
That sounds like a job for the analytic DENSE_RANK function:
    Select
           DENSE_RANK () OVER (ORDER BY  a.trans_id)  AS alert_id,    -- ***** NEW *****
           a.trans_id Start_trans_id,b.trans_id End_trans_id,a.currency,a.orientation_buysell,a.counterparty
    from temp1 a
                     inner join
           temp1 b
                     on a.counterparty = b.counterparty
    where a.orientation_buysell = 'B'
    and      b.orientation_buysell='S'
    order by a.trans_id,b.trans_id;
I added 1 line of code near the beginning; otherwise, this is exactly what you posted.

  • Need Guidance Please...

    Hey MSI faithful.
I am getting ready to perform a major upgrade.  I am currently using a five year old KT4VL.  Based on the fact that this board has lasted me for five years and is still going strong, MSI has won me over and I will be sticking with them on my upgrade.
Now here's my dilemma, I can't decide between these two boards:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130119
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130123
I know this is the AMD/ATI chipset forum, so the answers may be a little biased, but I didn't know which forum to post this question in.  Is one of these boards superior to the other?  I like the 690 chipset but don't necessarily need the onboard video.  In terms of pure performace, which of these two chipsets will give the best bang for the buck or is there any discernible difference?
Here's what I am planning on upgrading to:
    XP SP2 Home Edition
AMD 5200+ Windsor Core 65w (or Brisbane 5000 Black Box Edition)  Any thoughts on this choice too?
    Motherboard either mentioned above
    HD WD 250GB SATA 3.0
    Lite One DVD SATA
    A-Data 2GB DDR 800 (2X1gb sticks)
Video Card (probably ATI 1600pro or Nvidia 8500) Don't need a smoking card b/c I am not a hardcore gamer
Your thoughts or opinions and please forgive me for posting this question in the ATI forum.  Thanks in advance.
    Derek

First of all don't get a Black Edition 5000+ which is only meant for oc. You won't have much fun with either of this boards and oc. Even the unlocked multi won't get you far. Better get a faster stock cpu instead. You'll nearly get a 6000+ for the price of 5000+ BE. If you want to spend less take the 5200+ (get an EE version).
For the board I'd take the K9A Neo2 Digital. Today I build a rig with it for my brother-in-law. Nice board with good onboard vga (Radeon X1250). If you don't wanna play you'll need no additional vga. It comes with really great onboard solutions. HDMI, DVI, Firewire, 7.1 Sound, Gigabit Lan and nice PWM fan control. Also offers basic oc abilities. Great board for that price level.
The PSU you want to get is not that good. For the price of the Thermaltake better get a good single rail psu like Corsair VX450 or VX550 or Tagan TG400-U33 or Enermax EG-465AX-VE.

  • Career guidance please help

i have 13 years of exprience as hardware and networking person an science graduate.
8 months back i have gone through instructor led training for oracel 9i dba track( all four titles sql, funda I, funda II, per & tuning). I am looking for a job but found that all companies need oracle apps dba and very very few need 9i dba.(plus experience no freshers)
so should i persue OCP or do the instructor led training for oracle apps dba or else sun solaris admin.
which one will fetch me a job and secure my future in long term.suggest a growth path.
    please guide me
    thanks
    anil M.

I wrote a long article about this in my blog last year.
I think if you're looking for a secure career in the long term then stick with networking, as every computing architecture for the foreseeable future is going to be a network. But I can understand that the thrill of crawling under desks sticking cables into hard-to-get-at ports might pall after a while. So by all means stick at the Oracle DBA line if you want: just bear in mind that it is easier to move into a new line of work by shifting sideways from an existing job than it is to persuade an employer to take on a learner.
    Two last thoughts:
    (1) Oracle may be a legacy technology. Which is not to say it's not a solid, good product. It just cannot maintain its dominance of the RDBMS market forever, and of course the RDBMS market is not guaranteed either.
    (2) Have you considered moving into application servers? I would have thought webmastery was a better fit with a background in networks.
    Good luck, APC
