HSPA bug repair by Nokia bodge?

Hi
I sent my nokia 808 in to Nokia under warranty for repair for very unreliable 3g operation. Since its return there is no 3g or 3.5g displayed in the top right of  the screen.
I fear that Nokia repair have disabled the 3g and returned it 'fixed' when it isnt.
Is this likeley, and how would I check to ensure 3g is actually working.

Hi, kowalski99. Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions! Just to verify, does this happen all the time regardless of where you are? The network coverage is being influenced by your location. To make sure, kindly observe the phone is a place where 3G connection is strong. Be sure to turn on your data connection. You can also try to use another SIM from another operator to further isolate the issue. Hope this helps.

    I made a separate topic because the other one is 14 pages now. I think there shouldnt have discussion, only bug post.
    A lot of people complain about this annoying bug, where you turn off the phone and cant turn it on. It locks up on "nokia" boot screen. To turn it on you must remove memory card.
    I think i just found the problem of it. It happens because im using phone memory to store all the messages. SMS and 2 email accounts. When my phone memory is selected it boots normally, but when card is selected, it cant.

    Did you confirm that the batteryis having sufficient charge ? Connect the charger and leave it charging for an hour. Then try switching ON without disconnecting the charger. 
    If problem remains, have you considered trying a new battery ?

  • 99/98 Bug in all NOKIA phones

    I have marked it as 99/98 Nokia bug - and this can be reproduced as follows:
    1) Take any of your friend's India cell number - started with 98 or 99.
    2) Now store the first two digits as 99 instead of 98 and rest 8 digits are same in address book.
    3) Now start dialling the original number started with 98*** ***** - the actual number - you will see your friend's name is displaying as dial.
    4) Ask your friend to dial from his/her phone - you would be suprised to see that your friend stored name is displaying on the phone though you have stored different number starting with 99 in the address book.
    Confirm this is a NOKIA bug or what?????

    I don't think that this is a recent problem. I remember a long time ago when I was first using 2110's and CLI was coming into force in the UK. All the UK STD codes were changed to start 01 & all mobile numbers were changed to start 07. Some of us who were more efficient about such things updated our saved phone numbers straight away as for receiving calls both versions of a number would work although outgoing calls only used the pre-updated version until the night of the big changeover. The CLI on an incoming call would display the saved contact name regardless of whether old or new version of STD code saved. I had one instance where I had saved the wrong STD code completely for one contact and incoming calls still showed the right contact name.
    Therefore, I suspect it might be the case that it looks for a match of only a certain no.of digits, perhaps the last 6...??

  • Bug found in Nokia PC Suite 7.1.26.0

    Hello.
    Sorry to start by saying this, but Nokia is a n00b at making software. Great phones, but maybe it would be better if they just payied somebody to make this stuff for them. It's at version 7 and it crashes from such childish things... maybe it's still a beta and nobody told the world.
    Enough with the ranting, let's get down to business : 
    Nokia PC suite 7.1.26.0
    Wanted to transfer some music on my phone. The directory in which the music was in was longer than 256 characters or the path used some characters that Music Manager has trouble with;but I didn't figure that one out until the restart. So the path in which the music was in was longer than 256 characters or, once again and... there was music in it. For the PC it didn't matter, it could play it just fine. So I opened Nokia Music Manager and connected my phone to the PC. I selected the files that I wanted copied to my phone and dragged them to the Music Manager window and dropped them onto my device. It says : Artist X - Music Y ( Converting 2%). Then it crashes. Without saying anything. So I open it again and do the same thing with the music files and it says that my files couldn't be opened. So I quit PC Suite, disconnect my phone from the PC, open PC Suite, connect the phone again but to no avail. The error message somehow ends up in the USB Cable service which connects the phone to the PC because restarting the service solves the problem.
    I copied the files into a folder on the root of my drive and everything went as smoothly as it should have from the start.
    Just in case you're wondering, here's the path were the music files were D:\zDownloads\VA-Super.Trance.09.[2CDs].(2009).[move to mac]

    I did... same problem. It's a childish mistake if  you ask me. I don't know a thing about programing, but it's version 7 of the program. Shouldn't they have thought about this stuff since version 1? "Hey, how does our program find the files it's supposed to transfer to the phone? Oh, wait. It doesn't do that".
    Also, another bug in Nokia Music Manager. When I go to the Options and un-check the Copy transfered music to My Collection, it still copies it! And when I don't specify a save path for My Collection, I just empty the field and leave it blank, it doesn't want to transfer files to my phone anymore. When I drag and drop the files in Music Manager all I get is the little forbidden sign.

  • BUG : Cannot set Nokia Messaging as default client...

    Nokia Email  v.9.5.3.75 on Nokia E71 (firmware v300.21.012). 
    Mail for Exchange v2.09.158.
    I can select 'E-mail'  as default mailbox in 'messages > settings'. However when in Gallery and trying to send a picture from the list it opens Mail for Exchange client ! And when opening the picture .. and then trying to send .. it lets me choose the mailbox (that should happen in the list-view also !) .. but .. when i try to send via 'E-mail' (the default) nothing happens !
    Please fix a.s.a.p. since these are pretty basic functions if you ask me that should have been tested !

    I actually got this to work.  When I did the check for new firmware, the system told me I was up to date.  I reflashed the firmware anyway.  From a blank device, everything is integrated perfectly.
    Whe I go the new phone, I used the  backup and restore function of Nokia PC suit to restore settings to my phone.  When I did that (with up to date firmware) I had the problems mentioned above.  I suspect then that this is an issue with the restore function, although I have not bothered to isolate the issue as I now have a working phone.
    So what worked for me is:
    1) Run firmware update.  
    2) Firmware update tells me my phone is up to date and asks if I want to replace the firmware anyway.  I chose yes
    3) Reflash and lose all programs, data, themes, etc.
    4) Completely set up the phone from scratch
    5) Everything works beautifully, except for the 4 hours of my life I will never get back

  • Bug in Nokia 3110c firmware

    Theses a bug in the Nokia 3110c version 7.21, related to log. My phone's log showed 'Data recieved in last session' is 114256785kb, and 'All recieved data' is just 5865427kb, how can that be possible? All recieved data is always greater or equal to data recieved in last session.

    Dude! all recieved is always higher as u said.. But after when it reached its limit. It agains switch to zero. And starts again. Like in ma 3110c ive noticed the same...

  • Nokia Lumia 920 Proximity alledgely repaired quest...

    Hi, everyone knows about the proximity fault on the lumias, I have just had mine so called repaired by Nokia and now a week later its gone again and is worse than ever, so it is going back to Nokia for repair again. Obvioulsy im not happy like a lot of people here. Has anyone else had there phone so called repaired then its gone again?, How many times have you had it repaired etc?,did you get a replacement handset?

    As far as I'm aware the problem with the proximity sensor is usually caused by dust getting under the screen. So I would hazard a guess and say that the Nokia repair centre has merely cleared the dust away from the sensor. If the problem has returned then I'd imagine that more dust has found its way under your screen and is blocking the sensor again.

  • IMEI changed to 'generic' one after Nokia repair? ...

    I had my Lumia 800 repaired by Nokia back in May 2013 due to a damaged screen. Today I asked Orange for an unlock code to remove the network lock, and they say the IMEI has been changed to a 'generic' one so they cannot unlock it. 
    How do I go about getting the handset unlocked from the network now? 
    Nokia never mentioned at the time that my IMEI would be changed, and especially not to an apparently invalid one!

    That seems very odd, I would suggest you contact the place that repaired it or Nokia directly.
    Out of curiosity have you tried another sim in it to see if it is actually still locked? The reason Orange may have said that is because it's already unlocked.

  • Nokia C3 - Voice Issue

    I bought a Nokia C3, last month and after 2 days of Purchase, I'm having problem with it's Voice clarity. Echo is there and a lot of distrubance was also there. I got it repaired through Nokia Care, but even after that, the Echo problem has not been solved yet. Some other people who are using Nokia C3, told that, even they are having the Same Problem. Kindly advice what has to be done .

    Do you use a bluetooth handsfree or other bluetooth device? If yes, does this echo effect start after disconnected from the bluetooth handsfree and using the standard phone mic/speaker? Does the echo only exist on the caller's line (you don't have it, only the caller say there is a terrible echo on line) or if also you have the echo does the other person has a similar phone?
    I have a possible explanation that the echo effect is somehow relating with handsfree devices and appears after disconnected from the device. But it is possible that also something else start it.
    I have noticed that the only ways to stop the echo is either:
    1) Reconnect the handsfree device then the echo voice is gone and the caller can continue speaking even if you later disconnect the handsfree during the same call.
    2) Re-boot the phone and call back. It does not help to call back but you have to shut down the phone before calling back.
    The same echo problem seems to appear in C5 and E5 and maybe also E7. I quess that it might be software bug because it always stops after rebooting and also trying to use a handsfree for a while helps.

    You would appear to need to exclude possible software corruption with your N8 as a cause of this issue. 
    You could try making a back up with Nokia Suite upon PC and then hard reset the phone, to return to "Out of box" state.
    Connect your phone to Nokia Suite and go to Tools > Back up to make the back up. Make sure NOT to tick the Settings box. 
    Now disconnect the phone from Nokia Suite and enter *#7370# into your phone and default security code 12345, unless you've changed this code yourself.
    Once the phone has rebooted, connect the phone to Nokia Suite once more and go to Tools > Restore to restore the back up. 
    Failing that it could be worth using facility to re-install existing device software within Nokia Suite.

    I have a n85 with two problems
    1 - error of logon in call
    2- in charge it is turn/off
    It is repaired from nokia beloveds with upgrade software 11.047
    But it does not work I !!!!! Ask responsible nokia what to make in order to restore the correct operation.

    also the whole rationale behind mms message when you have numerous recipients and a long story to tell is that it is actually cheaper to send an mms rather than separate text messages. it is not a bug it has been done on purpose as far as i understand. i am not sure if it will be changed or not in the future updates.

  • Nokia Lumia 810 (T-Mobile) Experiencing Freezes Li...

    I got a new Nokia Lumia 810 almost a month ago, and I seem to be experiencing the same sort of freezes as the 820 and 920 owners. The first freeze occurred almost immediately after setup, the second the next day, and since then the freezes vary between once a week randomly to several times within a half hour pretty much if I want it to, meaning I can virtually prompt freezes by browsing the web and/or pulling up the keyboard. This morning, for instance, I got it to freeze about once every two to three minutes at will (note, however, I can only seem to do this in the morning, for whatever reason).
    I've updated my 810 to the latest firmware, uninstalled everything that can be uninstalled, removed all but my Microsoft Account, disabled Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, and location services, performed hard resets, used no memory cards, disabled "Find My Phone", etcetera, etcetera, to no real avail. Returning or exchanging my 810 is not an option because I didn't buy it from an official channel, and from what I gathered from the seller this particular unit is a new exchange (it came factory-sealed), so there's already precedent for that not guaranteeing a fix.
    I'm not really mad about this, nor does this cause me to want to switch to another platform or anything like that (the grass is always greener, and my phone last round was an Android phone, so I know exactly how "green" it is). There is no "or else" for me so long as my 810 is otherwise functional (and it is), and I don't want to have to leave the WP platform again, so I sincerely hope there is a fix or at least an official acknowledgment coming soon.

    Just to update this thread, about a month ago I sent my 810 to Nokia to repair. Nokia apparently reflashed the firmware, and after determining all was good, sent it back to me in about a week. Great turnaround, by the way.
    Unfortunately, about a day after I got my phone back, it started freezing again. On the up side, it froze much less frequently than before (nowhere near once every few minutes), but after another freeze in the morning resulting in the alarm clock not going off, I figured I had enough dealing with this excellent but wholly unreliable phone. I was preparing to put it on eBay "as-is" and eating the loss before I stumbled on a forum thread... somewhere... suggesting that at least some of the freezing might be due to the Nokia charger. With a few other users in that thread reporting similar findings, and having nothing to lose myself, I plugged my phone into my computer to charge that night just to see if there was any truth to their findings.
    Now, I'm not claiming any conclusions here, but after two weeks of charging the 810 via anything other than the Nokia charger it came with, i.e. a Samsung charger, a car charger, my computer, etc., I have so far experienced zero freezes. I don't know how. I don't know why. This could all be a huge coincidence, and my phone could freeze within the next few minutes just to punk me. It doesn't even make sense to me, since the freezing occurred both on and off the Nokia charger. But for now... no freezes!
