HST Implementation in Ontario, Canada

Can someone please help on the subject. HST (13%) is replacing GST (5%) + PST (8%).

Hello Chris,
To configure HST in SAP is not an issue provided you understand the exact tax requirement.
Due to the complex HST rules as announced by ON & BC there are number of things that you have to consider before starting configuration for example transitional rules, HST/PST portion self assessment, RITC requirements, proxy, supply rule etc.
There is no standard Design doc for SAP HST Implementation as config may vary because of different business requirements.
Some HST rules are applicable to large businesses only. Some companies in canada are working with SAP tax jurisdiction functionality and some are configured with tax codes only and so on......
The main configuration area is Sales/Purchase Tax Codes - you have to play around there with tax procedure/tax codes/ GL account determination to get the job done.
To get things more complex - i have to add that May1, is the HST pre-implementation date and you have to make compliance for that one too. Also note that Nova Scotis has just announced that they will increase HST there from 13% to 15%, so keep this in your mind as you need one more tax code there for NS with 15% (do not update the rate of the existing tax code as this is not the recomended practice.
Lastly I have one more comment for the solution provided in this thread - why do you want to put 13% to tax account and then
do -8%. Not sure how you want to configure but thats a very strange way to capture provincial portion of ITC.
If you don't mind could you please explain this via a tax accounting entries??
Thanks

Yes, you should be able to use a local SIM card from a carrier in Ontario. You should not have to do anything prior to doing so.

    Cheers!

    Also,

Curious to know if the MP3 player has to be working?  Does it matter if it's got a cracked screen?  Do they really accept any brand (even no-name brand) mp3 players for $40 value trade-in?  Do you need all accessories too, or can you take the mp3 player on its' own?
    Thanks.

How do I get a number for my area code?

Hi, CanadianSkype, and welcome to the Community,
Unfortunately, Skype Numbers are not available in Canada.  I understand from Canadian Super User Neil and Moderator NormanM that this is due to a regulatory restriction.

  • Water Damaged iPhone, Will Apple in Canada do 199 replacment?

I got my iPhone slightly water damaged, I've been reading around about the 199$ replacement for a refurbished one, can I do this in Ontario, Canada at my Apple store?

    No.
    Here is the Canadian oow:
    "Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will service your iPhone for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below.
    iPhone 4 Out-of-Warranty Service
    16GB & 32GB $229
    iPhone 3GS Out-of-Warranty Service
    8GB, 16GB & 32GB $229
    iPhone 3G Out-of-Warranty Service
    8GB & 16GB $229
A $10.77 shipping fee will be added if you arrange service online or by calling Apple Technical Support. All fees are in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable taxes.
For example, an iPhone that has failed due to damage or liquid damage is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service. However, certain damage is ineligible for OOW service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications.
Apple reserves the right to determine whether or not your iPhone is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service. iPhones that are repaired or replaced have a 90-day limited hardware warranty or assume the remainder of your standard warranty or AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone coverage, whichever is longer. Please see Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.

  • Apple TV in Canada

I am considering Apple TV in the hope that it will become more economical than cable TV. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and have a HD TV. I recently read an article in a magazine looking at the cost breakdown of cable, Apple TV and Mac Mini over one and three years and was quite amazed. However, this was based in the US and I am not sure of the access to free sites like Hulu and deals like Netflix ($8.99/month for 1 DVD download at a time) in Canada. I can get into Hulu, but they don't seem to have many full episodes. Netflix doesn't exist in Canada and most internet DVD companies seem to rely on the slow mail system rather than having downloadable DVDs. So, I am not sure how economical it would be to cancel my cable subscription when free TV downloads and good DVD deals are not as available in Canada. So my questions:
    1. How well does Apple TV work in Canada?
    2. In your experience, is it more economical than cable TV?
    3. We typically watch shows like Two and Half Men, CSI and CSI:NY, How I Met Your Mother, Mad Men, and Heroes; channels like HGTV; and sports like the Tour de France (OLN) and Australian Rules Football (Setanta). I know we can get most of the TV shows, but what about HGTV, OLN and Setanta?
    4. Do you know of any internet DVD company that offers monthly deals similar to Netflix for Canadian customers?
    5. I have downloaded Hotspot Shield which gives access to US iTunes and Netflix, but I believe this has a download limit. Does anyone have any experience with this in Canada and how good is it in accessing the Netflix deal for instance?
    6. What's the difference between Apple TV and Mac Mini for TV and DVD?
    Thanks

    1. How well does Apple TV work in Canada?
Any discussions about modifying the Apple TV, even through a software hack, can't be posted here. But I can assure you, for a variety of reasons, if you're looking to access Hulu and Netflix from Canada, you won't be able to with an ATV.
    2. In your experience, is it more economical than cable TV?
Only you can answer that, since it depends on how much TV you watch. If you like to watch live sports events, etc, you're better off sticking with cable.
Are you talking about "getting" them through the iTunes Store? If so, take a look. If you're talking about getting them through a Boxee hack, then once again, this is not the place to discuss.
    4. Do you know of any internet DVD company that offers monthly deals similar to Netflix for Canadian customers?
Again, are you talking about downloadable media, or the old Netflix drop-it-in-the-mail model? If it's the former, no, I don't know of any. If it's the latter, there is a Canadian company doing this, but for the life of me I can't recall their name at the moment. For what it's worth, I only rent movies through the Apple TV now. Love it.
    5. I have downloaded Hotspot Shield which gives access to US iTunes and Netflix, but I believe this has a download limit. Does anyone have any experience with this in Canada and how good is it in accessing the Netflix deal for instance?
Dude, you have violated so many of the terms of this forum, not to mention your iTunes Store user agreement. You may want to post these questions elsewhere.
    6. What's the difference between Apple TV and Mac Mini for TV and DVD?
Search this forum for Winston Churchill's excellent guide to the differences between the two, and his evaluation of each.
    Thanks

  • Canada Area Code 249

I was chatting with Customer Support for an hour on Monday about this issue, who kept treating me like a moron but couldn't understand this very simple issue. Area code 249 is not in South Sudan, it is in Ontario, Canada. Google it. My daughter has a new phone number and I've had Skype to Go for years and use it to call Canada. All their area codes were 705, but now she has 249 and Skype will not recognize it and cannot call it. What is up? Will I need to cancel my Skype to Go that I have had for years? Bummer.

Here's an update on this issue from over a year ago: nothing has been corrected. Good grief.

  • Will the new iPad's 4g work in Canada?

    Yes it is.

  • How to make different forms available based on user responses

I have created 4 fillable application forms in Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. First time using this product.
Boss wants a dynamic form, so that if a user answers Yes to a question in Form A, then Form B is automatically inserted into Form A for the user to complete. If they answer No, then they continue in Form A, until questions prompting them Yes/No for Form C and Yes/No for Form D.
We believed that this might be possible if we upgraded to Acrobat Acrobat 9 Pro, with the LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.1 bundled in.
I have looked at Pro and can't figure it out, and I've looked at LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.1 and am completely confused as it is so different.
Saw a tutorial that said to go to Tools and use the Action Builder, but I don't have this option in my version. Not sure why?
We want users to be able to use Reader to complete and save the form, and print it for mailing, emailing or faxing to us.
Any guidance or suggestions, or advice on recommended books, tutorials, or training would be appreciated.
    We are in Ontario, Canada.

    Hello,
    We had a similar requirement.
The best way we found was to implement the enhancement spot in the beginning of method LOCK_ORDERS of class CL_CRM_METHODS_BTIL. Here, you can prevent the user from editing a business transaction. Be aware this method is called for any BT, so you need to adjust your custom development accordingly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Transaction FTXP

    Hello All,
I'm a novice FI configurator so i hope you all will bear with me. I am trying to update a Tax Percent. Rate in FTXP under account key MW1. This one along with several others (VST and NVV) are in display mode only. Not only that but it uses the tax Percent. Rate from jurisdiction code CA00 by default. Is there anyway i can change this and allow for direct input of the value of the rate for account key MW1??
This is to do with the changes required for the new HST tax for Ontario and British columbia for July 1st,2010.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

The GST conditions in the Canadian tax procedure is at Tax Jurisdiction level 1 (as delivered in TAXCAJ and associated configuration.) This means that it is as the federal level only - so one rate (i.e. the current 5% - applies . I do not suggest changing this - unless you wish to rework all of your input and output tax codes.
Most companies establish the HST on seperate lines in the tax procedure. This may require enhancing the TAXCAJ procedures, and adding new FI andf SD conditions if not already in your TAXCAJ. (Will depend on how old your system is.)  DIfferent tax codes are created for the HST cases - which have GST rates set = 0 - and the HST rates set per the jurisdiction.
If you unfamiliar with enhancing the tax procedure - it's not much different than working with SD pricing procedure. You can add lines at the end of TAXCAJ - Ihave done so on a large HST implementation without any adverse effects on existing data.
